Yahoo! Advertiser Survey pop-ups.  They keep appearing!

Hey there!
I'm back again! I went all weekend without those annoying Yahoo! Advertiser Survey pop-ups, but now they are back. It is acting like I'm on a PC.
I reset Safari. I am getting these all of the time. It is the same survey, but you can't take it and you can no longer exit out without closing Safari. My wife does not get these on her Yahoo! account. Very odd.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

You've been infected by a scam trojan.  You don't need any anti-virus software on your Mac.  See the following about getting rid of the trojan.
    Trojan War
If you discover a trojan program is running on your computer then look to the following information for assistance:
    1. A recent discussion on the Apple Support Communities: MacDefender Trojan.
    2. An excellent site devoted to Mac Malware: Macintosh Virus Guide

Removing strange software can be a task.  The following outlines various ways of uninstalling software:
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a Startup item or a Log In item.  Startup items are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the Delete [-] button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead.  Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Note that you must have this software installed before you install software you may need to uninstall.  Uninstallers won't work if you install them after the fact.  Here is a selection:
    AppZapper
    Automaton
    Hazel
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them and others at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
For more information visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on removing software and dealing with spyware and malware.
After removing all the components of the software you may have to restart the computer to fully disable the software.  This will be the case when removing software that has installed a daemon.  After the daemon has been removed you need to restart the computer to stop the daemon.  Alternatively, you can kill the daemon process using the Terminal application or Activity Monitor.

  • "Yahoo! Advertiser Surveys" Pop-Up Won't Stop Popping Up!

I have tried unsuccessfully to contact Yahoo! and have posted on other forums, trying to stop this pop-up from showing up. About 1/3 of the time that I open my Yahoo! Mail, I get a pop-up that states that it is:
    Yahoo! Advertiser Surveys
    Your opinion counts!
Time to tell Yahoo! what you think.
    Take the survey No, thanks
Whenever you hit "Take the survey," "X" out of it, or simply click "No, thanks," it locks up. I have to get out of Yahoo! Mail and go back in, as I am unable to open up most of my messages.
Someone elsewhere said that after they used their anti-spy, it went away. I was advised by an Apple employee not to purchase anti-spy.
I'm using the new iMac with everything up-to-date. Also, I have enabled the pop-up blocker on Safari.
I'm hopeful that someone has an answer to this annoying problem.
Thanks again and have a great Friday!

    HI,
I have enabled the pop-up blocker on Safari.
Try disabling the Safari pop-up blocker then try Yahoo and see if it freezes. If it does...
From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences then select the Autofill tab. Click the Edit button next to: Other forms. Delete .yahoo.com then click Done. From that same menu bar select the Security tab.
Click the *Show Cookies* button. Delete all Yahoo related cookies; click Done.
Relaunch Safari and see if that makes a difference. You may also need to clear the Safari Cache from the Safari Menu.

    2. tried deleting account. UNable to do so.
    3. tried resetting password by logging into apple id through desktop as mentioned in one of the responses in another thread. Unfortunately the apple id to be reset is the same as being prompted by icloud and hence unable to reset the same.

  • I use tabbed browsing. Firefox randomly opens new windows with advertising. Pop-ups are disabled. How to fix?

I use Firefox with Windows 7. I use tabbed browsing, and the tabs show at the top of the page. At the bottom of the page, where the Firefox logo is displayed, Firefox will randomly open a second window with advertising. This is a Firefox issue because it says Firefox at the top of the new page. Pop-ups are disabled via Tools>Options>Content. Pop-ups also are disabled on the Verizon Security Suite.

Block pop-up windows is not checked in my preferences, yet when I try to play a card game at a yahoo site it won't allow me to join table because it says "please set browser to allow pop-ups to join table". What do I do to join the games then?

Open Firefox -> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Content section ->
press "Exceptions..." button infront of "Block Pop-up Windows"
-> Type the address of the website you wish to unblock pop-ups from e.g. www.yahoo.com -> Allow -> Close -> "OK" the Options window

  • WHY does Firefox repeatedly open multiple copies of tabs that are already open??? Yesterday I cleared the history, removed the program & reinstalled. Didn't help. Some tabs are ones I had months ago but don't need now. They keep appearing. HELP, please!

The problem started several months ago, after I downloaded a new version of the program. Two updates ago, I think. The repeat tabs open multiple times during the day. Sometimes they appear hours after I've closed them--sometimes just minutes later.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js [2] and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

  • BURNING MY FIRST DVD AND "CHAPTERS" AREN'T WANTED ..BUT THEY KEEP APPEARING

My production is ready for the final step ..."burning". I'm using the Revolution Theme. I put the title in the REVOLUTION window and started the burn process. After about 40 minutes the "burn" is completed.
I popped it in the DVD player. My Revoltion title isn't what I had put in. The title now states: "MY GREAT DVD" plus I now have 8 Chapters. My production is only 7 minutes long so I don't want any chapters.
How can I get the title I want to stay and how do I get rid of the chapters?

Those two facts go hand in hand.  It really is best if one get a formal
education in video production before attempting to produce videos.  Or
at the very least, some on-the-job training with a video professional.  Otherwise, your job will continue to be more difficult than it needs to be.
If this is about the last sentence, I'm sorry, what I meant to say is "...i've got no more problems yet, so far", except for the ones I mentioned. About getting some formal education in video production, I don't know if it really will always be good to me to go on with what I have been doing in the long time, put myself in "trouble" and begin asking if circumstances get really worse. Sitting and listening to lengthy discussions is often a boring process for me. Because not until I get my hands dirty, I will never know what's the dirt and how and where to start cleaning. In this case, I'll be your most boring student, yawning, farting, not interacting and not knowing at all what to know.
Now, I am just confident of the knowledge I've accumulated since I begin using premiere and encore although I know I still have to dig deeper. With all those problems posted in its respective forum, I think I attained successfully what became a problem to others. I don't have technical problems except for my pv-gs85 not being recognized by Pr which I've worked around by using third party applications.
I finished my very first DVD video without too much problem. My next goal is to get my stuff to the discriminating eyes of the pros for comments, suggestions, advices, and cajoles. I just don't know yet how to do it. While I was accumulating knowledge, I was amassing dirt, too. At this point, I can assure the video production gurus I'll be among there most eager student.

  • How to: Stop Pop Ups (mac keeper, zerobit, etc) Yosemite - Safari

You shouldn't need to use malware/ad blockers.  I tried all different searches in Google and nothing worked for Yosemite safari.
I did the following and it worked:
Safari - preferences - security - Internet plug-ins - click "website settings" - go through each point.  Mine was embedded in Adobe Flash player.  It was called "smart-search" so I blocked it and deleted it and this solved the issue.
    Just a quick FYI

  • Pop ups keep appearing when I go to different web pages.

A couple days ago, pop ups started to appear when I went to different websites. They show up as long white boxes on the left and right side, as well as on the bottom of the browser. When I click to exit them out, and sometimes when I click other links, a new tab opens up saying that I need to download a newer version of something. I have tried uninstalling then installing Firefox and it's still there and I have restarted the browser in safe mode and they still show up. All of my add-ons are disabled and I have scanned my computer using my anti-virus software and nothing has been found. I don't know what to do about this, if I can't fix it I will probably go back to just using Chrome.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.<br>
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br>
All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

  • I want "non HP printer cartridge" pop ups to go away on my Mac Mini computer. Please help

When my son is streaming Netflix, "non HP Printer cartridge" pop ups cover the screen like a virus has taken over.
No matter if I close them out or hit OK, they just sit there and I have to drag them over to the right lower corner and they will not be trashed.  I have an HP  Photosmart 6520 that is connected wirelessly. HP phone tech support told me that because it is a non HP cartridge (refill) , that happens to work better and longer than the original HP cartridges, they cannot help me get the pop ups to go away.  Funny thing is that the printer has always worked well with these cartridges, and these pop ups just started appearing after I upgraded my Mac to the latest update.  HP tech support told me to turn the wireless "Off" on the printer and said maybe that would help.  Solutions???     Joseph

    Hello heyjophi,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with a "non HP Printer cartridge" pop up on the screen.
This pop up will more than likely keep happening as long as you are using cartridges that are refilled.  The cartridge has a chip that lets the printer know how long it has been in the printer and it causes a popup on the computer screen. The only other way to get rid of this, other than using Genuine HP ink cartridges, is to uninstall the software from the Mac.
I do apologize for the inconvenience on this matter.
    Thanks for your time.

  • Images inside pop-ups not displaying correctly

I am generating a CHM using RoboHelp 10. I have certain pop-ups in some topics. These pop-ups contain screen shots. After generating the CHM, when I click the pop-ups to view the screen shots, they are not displayed correctly. That is, half of the image does not appear and there are no horizontal scroll bars either to scroll. This happens for pop-ups that are appear on the left side of a topic. The images inside pop-ups that appear to the right side of a topic appear fine when clicked.

    Hi Rick,
Thank you for the response. Alas, updating the DHTML effects doesn't help. In the project that am working, I have used hyperlinks that are marked to be displayed as auto-sizing pop-ups.
I also tried editing the eHlpDhtm.js file as mentioned in the thread here, https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1297423#expires_in=86399993&token_type=bearer&access_token =eyJhbGciOiJSUzI1NiIsIng1dSI6I…. But that was of no avail either.
Do you have any other insights here?
    Regards,
    Anamika
    P.S. Am using RH 10.0.1.292.

  • How allow login-pop-ups in GlimmerBlocker

I love my GlimmerBlocker - but one problem I have is that each time Im at a train or a cafe that relay on login-pop-ups - they appear empty and blank til I inactivate GlimmerBlocker.
I have even tried to whitelist specific domains like fon.com in the filter section but that didnt work eighter.
Anyone has a solution for this?

Safari 8's control for this is in the Security tab of its preferences, and is on by default.
If needed, click here and follow the instructions, or if there’s a type of adware not covered by them on the computer, these ones. If you're willing to use a tool to remove it(you don't need to, but may find it easier), you can instead run Adware Medic; this link is a direct download.
