Yahoo Business Pop settings in Mac Mail

We use Yahoo Business Mail for our work email IDs. I have been using the same for a long time now and upgraded to Yosemite on launch day. However, ever since yesterday the emails have stopped coming on Mac Mail. I have not changed any settings but they just are not showing up. They are very much showing on my iPhone.
The mail is configured through POP so I changed it to IMAP just to see if it would work or not, and yes it does! So there is some change in the POP settings that have taken place that is preventing my emails from showing up. My co-worker who also has a Mac is experiencing the exact same issue, whereas other Windows PC's are not. Please let me know what to do to solve this issue, as I have told by the network administrator that I can't continue to use IMAP!

Dear Lana jL: this is a known issue with Yahoo Plus and Mac mail . You'd either have to use anothei email app
or try this website. I dunno if it works, but it might be worth a try

  • New email settings for Mac Mail & 3rd party...

Anyone have instructions for new email port settings for users who are:
    -Using Mac Mail
-Using third mail email service provider (i.e., not sending and receiving through a Verizon address)
    Thanks,
Pardon me while I rant (I'm hoping a Verizon employee reads this)...
I use my third party email account exclusively. It's listed on my verizon account page. So, does verizon do the logical thing and send announcements to my third party email address (?) - of course not, they send them to the verizon address which I have never once used in years.
New port settings for some email users...
I got a phone call from an automated Verizon attendant telling me to check the following for new port settings for some email users:
    http://www22.verizon.com/ResidentialHelp/HighSpeed/Email/Setup+And+Use/QuestionsOne/124333.htm
I guess Verizon hasn't heard that there are millions of people using Mac computers, with Mac Mail as their email clients. And, some of these users are using obscure third party email service providers with names like 'Google'. On the above linked page, there are no instructions for these users.
I tried to use the online live support feature to get a clarification about using the new port settings. A polite gentleman with a long Indian name told me he couldn't help me and gave me an 800 number to call. After calling the 800 number, a nice lady in the Philippines (on a terrible voice connection) told me she couldn't help me - she transferred me to another department where I waited and waited and waited. I finally had to hang up.
I'm beginning to think that Verizon is a division of the United States Postal Service. Come to think of it, I get much better service from the USPS than I get from Verizon.

Are you using the Mac Mail client or Verizon's netmail?

If you mean iCloud email, you can automatically configure this on your Mac runnint Mountain Lion by going to System Preferences>iCloud, signing into your iCloud account and checking Mail.  To manually configure it, use these settings: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864.

  • Lost archived POP emails in Mac Mail

For 2 years I have received a POP account in my Mac Mail account. Recently we moved and cancelled service with the original POP account...Time Warner Cable. I had hundreds of work-related emails that I would view each time I opened my Mac Mail. Since that POP was cancelled all former email has disappeared. I use my Mac only to get the emails, so importing from a PC isn't an option.
I have changed email several times before but never had it delete what was already in my inbox! Is there somewhere this is archived? I think it must be there somewhere as any email addresses that I used before pop up in the address bar when I start typing.
My Time Warner account was where I primarily sent and received email and I can't believe they are just gone! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Did you delete your RoadRunner account from the Mail application?
This is the only way messages sent and received/downloaded by the Mail application for a POP account will be deleted.
When deleting an email account from the Mail application, a warning message is provided indicating that all account setup information and mailboxes for the account will be deleted as well. You must select OK in this warning message window before the account is deleted along with all mailboxes for the account.
Do you not maintain a backup of all your important data including Mail application data?

  • Outgoing server settings for MAC MAIL with multiple accounts?!

if i got paid to do this, my outgoing mail server issues would be somewhat amusing but as it stands they are really extremely annoying.
i have multiple email accounts (multiple addresses with multiple hosts - gmails, domain based email, me.com address etcetera).
does ANYONE know if there is an FAQ on what is recommended with respect to the settings on whether to tell mail to ONLY USE the one outgoing server and/or anything with the other settings?
i feel like i am in a pachinko parlor when i send mail because there is constantly an error of some kind and then i try dropping the mail through a different outgoing server by selecting a different one from the list and i just do this until it goes out. oftentimes i don't find out it didn't go out until the NEXT DAY becasue i am working and this alert gets hidden behind my other windows where i do actual productive work.
any ideas? i have two domain based websites (multiple emails with two SMTP addresses), two GMail accounts and me.com...
    THANKS!

    hi. CS. thanks.
do you know what this does as a practical matter? i mean, is it NECESSARY to check this box? will it try other outgoing servers and NOT WORK if you don't check this box? conversely, will it NOT try other outgouing servers if this one is unavailable if i check this (presumably the answer is yes here). i mean - am i likely to run into fewer problems by checking this box and i assume it is necessary to use the OUTGOING SERVER of the actual domain you are trying to send mail from as opposed to - for example - using GMAIL outgoing server for everything because you think you will get less errors than sending from your email domain outgoing server.
you know what i am saying? i mean, i get a bootload of errors and actually can't send mail these days even though Connection Doctor is telling me everything is hunky dory.
also, what is meant by "Offline"? do i have to go in and tell it to take everything on line for some reason and is this totally separate (telling it to go online) from checking things in Connection Doctor?
    THANK YOU

  • Mac mail 4.5 and yahoo mail

Anyone else having problems with mac mail 4.5 and sending mail with yahoo.mail server.  Mine is so erratic It's driving me crazy.  It works fine for a while then all of sudden it will just stop working for days at a time.  This happens without me changing any settings whatsoever.  I have other mail programs using the same servers AND THEY WORK FINE.  So this is total crap.  When I try getting help from my ISP they said it is a mac mail problem.  When I try to get help from APPLE (which is pretty much non existant) they say its an ISP problem.  The only thing I know is that its' my problem and I've given both these companies tons of money and they've left me hanging out in the breeze with arguably the most basic and important funciton of having a computer and an internet connection.  Screw them all I say.
Anyone out there to help with this quandry.  By the way I've used mail connection doctor.  It has problem connecting to the outgoing server, but then it does and says all is fine.  But I still cant send mail.  I go back to connecton doctor and do a "check again" and now it CANT connect.  Jeez this is just awful

I finally got my "Send" to work:

  • Mac Mail with Yahoo address Question

I have several email accounts, yahoo, hotmail, etc set through mac mail. I have all the boxes checked to preserve the message from
the beginning. I have one client whom I email frequently back and forth with and I was just recently told that they cannot see the
message string that it is cutting off my original message. Can anyone help me with what is going on. I have tested it between my emails
and I can see verything fine. I have also went into Yahoo and chnaged settings and still nothing. I have a feeling it is something on their end
but not sure. Any help is appreciated.

Honestly, this does sound like something on their end.  Send an email from your account in question to another person (say your parents, spouse, etc.) and see if they notice the same problem.

  • Preferences  pop account  MAC mail, imac intel core duo, 10.4.4 tiger

just installed pop account in MAC mail and need to make changes to account info. cannot find under "Mail" in "Preferences" "account", only composing box comes up. where can I find the account info to make changes to port

Sounds like you have the Mail.app Preferences toolbar closed on Composing.
Go to Mail > Preferences and at the top right corner of the Preferences window is a clear pill shaped button.
Selecting this button opens/closes the complete Preferences toolbar and the same when this button is available with any open application window.

  • Mac Mail stopped accepting Gmail (cure)

So, I've had my mac mail configured to grab my gmail account for what seems like FOREVER. And all of a sudden, on Friday afternoon, it stopped working. Each progarm pointing the finger at the other, providing solutions that failed to resolve the issue. UNTIL TODAY! If you're having the same issue I've been having, that being:
    1. Gmail working fine on day... and POOF, you can no longer send or recieve from Mac Mail 6.5
    2. You can still access your gmail from EVERWHERE ELSE, browser, iphone, etc.
    3. Your settings for IMAP/POP in gmail and passwords, ID's are all triple checked and correct
Here's the potential problem that some failed to mention: (at least throughout all the blogs and help columns, I could not find)
For some reason, back when I purchased my new computer in February, Mac Mail and Gmail were happy buddies and configured as they have been all along; GMAIL being a GMAIL POP account within Mac Mail. THIS IS THE ISSUE!
And for some reason, this STOPPED BEING OK Friday afternoon, as I was preparing to send off that very important PDF for my deadline! (why does it always happen when you have a deadline??)
SOLUTION: You'll have to recreate a NEW GMAIL IMAP account, the old POP won't work anymore, after I tried all the solutions listed.
After setting up a new Gmail IMAP account in Mac Mail, problem solved! Now, I am just waiting for all my history of mail to redownload. UGGGH. What a nightmare!
I hope this helps others out there who are experiencing this problem and don't know what to do to fix it.
    Happy computing!

Try deleting your GMail account and re-adding it.

  • Mac Mail: smpt password not being recognized

Short version: I had to update my ATT modem and this prompted me to re-establish a connection with ATT.net. Given that I never use my ATT browser mail, I called tech support for the password. Once set, I was up and running on the internet. Even received emails via MacMail, but no outbound. ATT said I needed to match the "browser-based" password with the smpt in the account settings within Mac Mail.
Did it. —>quit—>restarted—>checked for password case sensitivity and even blind spaces. I got nothin'. I gotta say ATT tech's were consistently nice over the 4 hours I dealt with four people and in the end could offer no high level tech support as they are not familiar yet with Lion. I'm pretty techie, but the simple things here are mind melting me.

Thanks for all of your responses.
I redid everything you guys mentioned and at one point I got a message that it wasn't reaching the server. The option to "resolve to server" came up (which wasn't the default option) and I clicked it for the heck of it. Sure enough, it fixed the connection. Again, what was odd was that the deault was "try again".
It's working fine now, but since I don't know what caused the disconnect in the first place, I'm hoping the connection doesn't break again, I accept a meeting, and it doesn't get added to iCal. You'd think there'd be a redundancy for .ics files where it would say:
You have responded to an invite. Would you like to add to iCal?
    [Yes] [No]
[ ] Never ask me again
Or it would there would be an option in Mail that says "Display Calendar invites as [] Attachment [] Email."
I know the preferences should take care of this, but meetings and appointments are important enough for this type of anal retentiveness.
Thanks again fo rall your help.

  • Email password being rejected using Mac mail

I have a strange issue using mac mail on a mac mini running snow leopard. It is actually my Mom's computer. She calls me over from time to time when her email gives her problems. Usually it amounts to resetting the modem or some other simple fix. Today however not so easy!
This issue came up out of the blue earlier this week. A message came from mail asking her to re-enter her password since the server (charter.net) was rejecting it. She attempted to re-enter it along with a variety of other addresses she had written down and eventually gave up. In this process she also restarted her modem. Today is Friday so it's been a few days with no connection to her email server. This is all her recounting so I am not certain exactly what transpired.
I confirmed a conection with the internet first. re-entered the correct password and got the same message. Then I tried the Username & password via a web interface and got in first try. So I started up an old email client (Entourage) that had been set up from years ago (as a POP account) and it to accessed the server with no problem. At that point I deleted the account in mac mail & recreated it...same message. I then reset the keycahin and deleted/recreated the account again...same message. To rule out POP vs IMAP I tried creating a POP account in mac mail since the original was IMAP....same message. I am at a loss.
For now I reintroduced her to Entourage so she could access her mail. It was abbandoned a couple of years ago since it had been the source of too much confusion for her (she tends to click on things changing views etc without realizing how or what she has done).
Until this, the simplicity of mac mail was working pretty well for her.
Any ideas of what the cause might be or what else I could try would be appreciated.

I installed iCloud on the iPad
K, that wasn't clear in your original posting.  You left that part out.
Are you saying this would be fixed if I upgraded to Mountain Lion?
That is not what I said.  What I should have said is that the OS requirements for iCloud are Lion & Mountain Lion.
The following are keychain troubleshooting that you may wish to try: Use Spotlight to search for a file called login.keychain.
Users/YourUserName/Library(which is a hidden folder and won't show in Finder)/Keychains.
Click Go in the menu bar then Go to Folder and type in /Users/YourUserName/Library and hit the enter key. Look down the list of folder and find Keychains. The "login.keychain" file should be inside.
    Cures for a funky keychain
