Yahoo IM only updates when I unlock my Palm Pre (1.3.5.1)

In the messenging app, any IMs I get to my yahoo account will queue and not notify until I unlock (with password) my phone.
This means that I need to repeatedly lock and unlock my phone to stay current in the conversation.. obviously annoying...
anyone else having this issue? palm, are you fixing this?

What type of data connection are you trying this with? I know 1.3.5.2 adds the ability to update
"over a 2G (1xRTT , GPRS , EDGE ) data connection"
I suppose if you have one of those data connections with 1.3.1 it will not allow it to update? Not sure if thats the message it will give in that case, just speculating.

I have the same problem. I am forced to have a PIN set on my devices because I use my corporate exchange email and sync over wi-fi initially fails until I manually unlock the phone/ipad. #ckuan needs to read the words wiritten. We know how it's supposed to work but it won't start until you enter the PIN. Until then I get error messages saying either it cannot find the phone or explicitly telling me I need to unlock it.

How can I have apps such as Words With Friends only update when on WiFi?

After only having my iPhone for 5 days I have used 65% of my data, and I believe most of it is due to words with friends and chess with friends and hanging with friends. How can I have apps such as those only update when on Wifi, or only update when I tell them to?

Help in Unlocking a Palm Pre Plus from AT&T!!

I am new to the forum and also to how a phone is being unlocked.
I have just received my new Palm Pre Plus purchased from AT&T USA with our any commitment, it now turns out it is locked and as it is new without any profile.
As I am living in Thailand where the phone will be used, with a local SIM card and plan.
I have tried through Nextgen Server to unlock the phone with out success, so I need some help now.
Been able to boot into recovery mode and run the webOS doctor.
Now the problem is how do I run the activate-Bypass tool?
If I put in my local SIM card the phone ask for the net work pin code, which I believe I should get through the tool from Nextgen Server?
Hope some one can guide me step by step.

Since you are living in Thailand, IMO the EU unbranded Palm Pre 2 will be your best option there:
1. I'ts already unlocked.
2. You'll get access to the UMTS/HSDPA (3G) bands instead of just EDGE (2G).
3. webOS 2.x access
The ATT Pre Plus was meant to be used in the North America region. Just pop in the SIM card into the EU Pre2 and let her rip!
Due note that running the activate-Bypass tool will put your phone in a pure "dev-mode" so it will not have ability to access the Palm Profile, make phone calls, nor SMS, but WiFi data connection will be possible still. If you get the Pre 2, there will be no need to use that tool for you just dial #*DEVMODE# when its done booting up and it goes right into devmode, bypassing palm profile activation. Same limitations will apply there too in devmode.
If you have already ran the doctor, then open command (Windows) or terminal (Mac) and type this in when have downloaded the tool:
java -jar devicetool.jar
You will know if it worked if the device currently in recovery mode just starts booting up on its own and takes you to the desktop rather then profile setup.

DB is only updated when my Application Exits

My DB is updated only when my Applicationstops running. How can i make this changes done while it's still runnig?
This is the flow of my application:
(1) opens a db connection to retrieve input data.
(2) Opens HttpUrlConnection, one per input request - this request will add records to the DB.

connection.connect();(3) waiting for DB to update after stage (2).
(4) Using the previous DB connection to retrieve the new records added before. the perfom more actions.

I tried closing and re-instansiating the DB connection, I tried closing the HttpUrlConnection objects, I also tried to extend the wait period untill the DB would be updated but nothing worked.
How can I get My DB Updated while my Application still running?

I'm using the HttpUrlConnection to use another component in my system that is only operated by HTTP requests.
That component is updating the DB, and then I use this generated data.
I'm using:
1) HttpUrlConnection to start a component that updates my DB.
2) java.sql.Connection to read Data from my DB.
thogh I have to send a URL to the other component, I'm not sure if HttpUrlConnection is the right object for me.
I'd be happy to get other suggestions.

My mail only updated when I open it up

I have gmail and I would like my phone to let me know when I get a new email. But it only opens new messages when I open the mail up

It has to be set up for push, or fetch at a certain interval. The only way for push is if it is set up as an Exchange account, and I believe that cannot be done anymore. They have stopped support for new active sync accounts.

It appears the number of Pictures without keywords is not updating after importing or removing photos

This information is probably on the site somewhere but I didn't see it.
Is the new unlocked GSM Palm Pre 2 fully compatible with the AT&T network? Can it use AT&T 3G?
Is it also fully compatible with T-Mobile? Can it use T-Mobile's 4G network as well (with the appropriate SIM card)?

Answer: Yes the Palm Pre2 is fully compatible and can use 3G speeds.

Answer: No. You will get voice, text, and 2.5G (EDGE) data through T-Mobile on the Pre2 just fine but not 3G. T-Mobile uses 1700mhz and 2100mhz bands for 3G while all other carriers in North America uses 850mhz and 1900mhz. The Palm Pre 2 for North America uses 850 and 1900 bands for 3G.

Firefox allows to select part of a word. You can select a word with a double click and use Shift + left click to set the end of the selection, so you need to click at the end of the last word instead of in it.

After installing the newest update, when I try to open a saved page Firefox only opens the homepage. Reset didn't help.

I am a web designer. I have saved pages that I update and upload to websites all the time. Now, after the latest updates, when I try to open these saved pages it only opens Firefox and loads the homepage. The saved page does not open. If I'm to keep using Firefox, which I would prefer, I need this functionality back.

I had tried all the suggestions. None of they helped. I can open the files by browsing for they after Firefox is open. I was able to spend some more time troubleshooting the issue yesterday afternoon. The issue has to do with the 64-bit file system. When I right click and select open with and then point it to the installation folder in the Program Files (x86) folder, it still won't open the file just opens to my home page. I did notice that when I was browsing for Firefox.exe that it defaulted to the Program Files folder not the Program Files (x86) folder. So I renamed the exe to LittleFox.exe and browsed for that exe and Firefox would then open the files as expected. So my guess is that it is a registry setting that is all the headache. I don't have time to run that problem down but will just use my workaround by renaming a copy of the exe and use that with my file association.

The malware it's finding is probably Windows malware attached to e-mail messages. What are the names of some of those things? Assuming they're not Mac malware, allowing Sophos (or any other anti-virus software) to remove them could cause problems. For example, if they're attached to e-mail, removing them improperly by simply deleting the message file will leave the malware on the e-mail server, and it may very well end up getting re-downloaded when your mail client syncs with the server. It may also corrupt the mailbox.
If you actually ever see a malware name starting with MacOS or OSX (I forget which one Sophos uses), then you will need to worry, and should not assume that the malware can be completely removed by anti-virus software of any kind.

Apps will always be tied to the account from which they were purchased.
If they were purchased from your husbands account, then they will have to update using that account.
