Yahoo imap inbox only partially syncs inbox on iPad

I have both an iPad and iPhone. I can go several days without having Internet access.
When I do get it I may access my mail on either device.  The  problem is that messages which show
In the inbox On one device may not show on the other.
For example my iPhone has all my messages from yesterday but these don't show on my iPad.
Messages from today show on both devices.
I can search the yahoo server for one of yesterday's messages and it is found on my iPad.
However it doesn't show in my ipad inbox.
Is there a way to get these messages in my Yahoo inbox? I am unable to contact apple support at this time.

I made the mistake of resetting my iPod to factory defaults. Now it will only partially sync to my music library. I continually get an error message saying that certain songs are not authorized for my computer, although they are in the iTunes library on the computer and will play. It's these songs that won't transfer to the iPod. I have deauthorized and re-authorized the computer but no joy. Any ideas?

    Hello there DesertRat71,
I was thinking that some of the songs in your library may have been purchased under a different apple id. You have already done the first thing I would have done by de authorizing and re authorizing. To verify this, highlight one of the songs that will not sync over and use File>Get Info. Here is the help menu link for it if you need it help://bookmark='https://help.apple.com/itunes/mac/11.0/help/index.html?localePa th=English.lproj#itns2937'
In the Summary section there will be an Apple ID entry. If it shows something different than what you are currently using then I recommend signing into the Apple ID it shows and authorizing the computer for that one as well.
    All the best,
    Sterling

That sounds like a settings issue to me. Check with your IT depatment to make sure you have it configured properly.

  • "Notes" only partially sync'd

Hi.  I recently purchased my first Mac - iMac 27" late 2012.  At some point during the setup the Notes from my iPhone 4s got partially sync'd to the iMac.  There didn't seem to be a pattern, some old, some new, but only about 7 or 8 out of several dozen ended up on the iMac.  It looks like a couple of recent Notes are also now on the iMac.
As I sit here testing this, I can create a new note on the iPhone and it will sync to the iMac, and vice versa.  This occurs over the wifi or if the iPhone is connected directly. Doesn't matter.
There are some notes dated on the iPhone many months before I purchased the iMac that are displayed on the iMac, and if I edit one of them on the phone or mac the change is sync'd.
There are other notes on the iPhone that even if I edit them they don't sync to the iMac.
    iPhone: 7.0.4
    iMac: 10.9.1
This isn't a big deal, but one of those things that just bugs me becuase it doesn't seem to be working!
Thanks a lot for the help.
    Gary

OK I figured out the category distinction - just a matter of Notes being stored locally on iPhone or on iCloud.  Did a lot of Googling and found a lot of discussion about this, but no straight forward method to transfer Notes stored "On My Phone" to iCloud.  I tried disabling Notes on  both iMac and iPhone and re-enabling, but that doesn't seem to do anything.
This isn't a new issue.  I see threads going back several years.
Any suggestions how to get Notes in "On My iPhone" to iCloud?

  • Audiobooks only partially synced

I synced my Ipad2 with my Macbook Pro but my audiobooks on iTunes only got partials on many of the audiobooks. I know I can't redownload the audiobooks. And unfortunately I didn't notice this error and have deleted the audiiobooks from my Ipad.  Is there anyway I can recover the lost portions?

Honestly, nobody around here thinks that this is somehow problematic and that it shows a lack of intelligence or at least ignorance???
By the way, in the meanwhile I have found several other online stores that provide a great range of audiobooks at the same price (or less) and guess what - they are all able to offer them in consumable segments!
Well, from now on I will be shopping there and if you want some links just let me know!
Sorry for disturbing - please keep on weeping for your lost 99 cents or whatever you do in this forum...

  • ICloud only partially syncing

I have a new Macbook Air, and I've noticed that not everything is syncing.  In Mail, my Sent iCloud messages are not syncing between devices, and messages moved to IMAP folders are not showing up the same way on the Air.
Also, only the past couple of months of my Photo Stream have made it to the Air.

My son informs me that a listened-to podcast will be removed from your iPod automatically, regardless of the "keep all episodes" setting. Is this true? What about the fact that the podcast was not completely listened to? Is starting it enough to get it deleted?
Besides, this doesn't match the behavior of some other podcast episodes, which are remaining on the player even though they've been listened to.

  • Facebook contacts only partially syncing.

I addded my facebook account  in system preferences in hope of syncing my contacs and their birthdays but it seem that OS X is unable to sync all contacts.
I have on 80 or so contacts of my 400+ friends synced with OS X. Is it a known problem? How can I solve it?

Ok. Now there are almost 200. I found out that only contacts who have made available their phone numbers appear in my contacts. None of the others appear. That's a bug. Is there somewhere we can report this bug?

  • Contacts only partially sync'ed

    Hi,
For whatever reason, only about 30 of my 300+ contacts on my iPhone are sync'ed to the iCloud. I've tried turning the contact syncing in iCloud settings on and off but that does not seem to work. I've noticed that all the contacts that actually got sync'ed to the iCloud are the latest ones I created on my phone or my address book. Does anyone else have the same problem? Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.
    Doniel

its the same here as well. i.e: 300 on both Mac and iphone, but only 248 on icloud. it's really frustrating.

  • Podcasts only partially syncing

Hi, I've searched for this problem but I haven't seen the exact problem that I have. I have an iPod classic, and the latest version of iTunes for Windows. I've subscribed to several podcasts (for years actually, but only recently got the iPod).
I have 'keep all episodes' and 'only sync checked items'.
The problem is that some episodes randomly get deleted from the iPod after they've come over there. For example: a podcast has 7 episodes checked on iTunes. I'll be listening to one on the iPod, and then after the next sync it will be gone from the iPod. There might be now 5 episodes on the iPod. In iTunes, it's still there, and there are still 7 episodes checked.
I've tried unchecking/syncing/checking again/syncing again, and that doesn't help. What am I missing, or is this a bug?

  • IPad only partially syncs with iTunes

I'm so fed up with dealing with iTunes Support... They are more than useless - it would help if they could actually understand my problem, but they dont seem to have a grasp of the english language, let alone have any ability to assist me with my issue.
Okay, so here I am, begging for help as this is now the 4th week that my iPad hasnt been functioning!!
I purchased a couple of TV series on the iPad (along with applications). When I sync the iPad with my iTunes account, the applications migrate over with no issues. However, when I try and sync the TV Series, it tells me they werent bought using the same account as my iTunes account, so wants to erase the programs before syncing with iTunes.
When the iPad is plugged into iTunes, you can right click on the TV Series stored on the iPad - it clearly states under the 'get info' that the shows were bought with the same account (funny that!)
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Does anyone have any bright ideas? Apple support clearly doesnt and I'm really starting to get fed up with their imbecilic responses!

  • Holidays only partially sync

This just started.  US Holidays appear on iCloud on the web and are reliably synced to both my iPhone and iPad 2 but not to my iMac.  I tried going to System Preferences>iCloud and unchecking the calendar box, then restarting the machine, then re-checking the calendar box.  All other calendar items sync fine, just not the holidays.  Ideas?

  • Yahoo IMAP support ... sneaky!

I found several references to IMAP support by Yahoo about a year ago (imap.next.mail.yahoo.com, imap.mail.yahoo.com) that worked for a while and then stopped, presumably because of the resources required to support that protocol on top of pop. Then, with their offer of IMAP access to even free Yahoo acounts because of Apple, I read somewhere the new server was imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com. Problem is, it only works IF you use the Yahoo configuration option in Mail settings. If you use a regular IMAP configuration option, it does not work. (Why would I want to use Other? Because I dont want the @yahoo.com as the reply-to address).
So, it seems that behind the scenes, the iPhone is configuring to the correct (and unknown to us) Yahoo IMAP server OR it is embedding some sort of prefix/suffix to our IDs that authorize it to log on to the Yahoo IMAP server ONLY if you use the iPhone configuration tool. I am speculating. Any thoughts?

Someone who has an iPhone should connect it to a WiFi network on which is a computer running an Ethernet Packet sniffer, and then capture a connection from the iPhone to Yahoo mail.
For ordinary POP3 and SMTP access Yahoo use SSL versions, the IMAP SSL port is normally 993 but they could be using a non-standard port. They could also be doing something strange to the authentication, e.g. using MD5 instead of just password or something else like adding additional text to the password e.g. it sends apple.password instead of password, again a packet sniffer like Ethereal might reveal this.
Unfortunately the iPhone is not yet available in the UK so I cannot do this testing myself.
Google should wake up and add push IMAP support themselves, fancy letting Yahoo grab all the glory.

  • Partial sync to iPhone

    Hi,
The most recent two events in my iPhoto library are only partially syncing to my iPhone. I tried making them into an Album instead but the same thing happens.
14 out of 82 photos and 3 out of 9 photos have synced, but not the others.
Older events have a 100% sync.
There is over 10GB free on the iPhone (32GB), and over 140 GB free on my hard drive.
I have started iPhoto holding Cmd-Opt and selecting the option to rebuild the file permissions with no joy.
Or is it an iTunes problem?

Update: deleting the iPod Photo Cache solved the sync for my iPhone, but iTunes will not sync some events with an iPod Touch.
Should I try to restore the Touch?

  • Apple Mail not updating IMAP inbox

When new mail arrives in an IMAP inbox, Apple Mail will not show the new messages until several hours pass or Mail is quit and restarted. The new mail is visible via other IMAP clients (Thunderbird, Entourage, iPhone) but not in Apple Mail. This occurs once or twice a week with no obvious common trigger. It is happening on my personal computer and many of my client's systems. I've tried rebuilding Inboxes, re-syncing accounts, deleting envelope indexes, creating new mail accounts, new users, etc.... The problem will always return eventually and only quitting and restarting Mail will cause the IMAP INBOX to update.
Affected system: Apple Mail, Snow Leopard 10.6.3 although this has been occurring on multiple systems going back to 10.5 with multiple email providers.
I've searched and searched and just found numerous people with the same issue and no solutions. All of those threads were archived with replies no longer allowed, so I started yet another thread.

    Ernie Stamper wrote:
That is correct, but this IDLE to achieve push email might not be working well, at least with Mail. But post back if this does not correct the problem.
    Ernie
I have two systems that have the issue and both had the IDLE box checked. I unchecked them both and they ran all day today with no lapses in email. Looks promising but the issue has gone for days sometimes before it re-appears.
I will keep you posted. Hopeful.

  • "Import Mailboxes" can't see IMAP inbox in backup Mail folder

So, a friend of mine thought he'd be efficient and, via the webmail interface, deleted all the messages in the Inboxes of two IMAP accounts (hosted by Fatcow). He did not understand that this would delete all the messages in the inboxes on his computer, too. He understands IMAP better now that we've had a talk!*
We have a backup copy of his ~Library/Mail folder, and I thought it would be a piece of cake to use Import Mailboxes to reimport those missing messages back into Mail, from where he could drag them back into the Inboxes in the cloud. Being a Mac consultant, I have done this very thing many times.
However, no matter what we do, the Import Mailboxes dialog will not offer those two inboxes in the list of mailboxes to choose from. We see all the other boxes, including two inactive POP accounts. When we look inside the backup Mail folder in the Finder, we can open the IMAP folder for each account and burrow down to the actual messages. The hierarchy there is kind of too deep, perhaps because the IMAP Path Prefix in his account preferences is incorrect--one of the accounts has the final Inbox with the messages inside another Inbox folder inside the IMAP account folder**. This is the only reason I can think of that Import Mailboxes would not be able to see those inboxes. Does anyone know if it would work if I moved the final Inbox folder higher up in the hierarchy?
Thanks very much for any assistance.
*Please don't ask why he wasn't using Time Machine. He will be, very soon.
**I can't reproduce it exactly here because I was working with him over a LogMeIn connection, as he's in another state. Geographically speaking, not emotionally.

in finder rename the backup imap inbox from INBOX.imapmbox to INBOX.mbox. then Mail will let you import it if you choose it directly when importing mail.
