Yahoo IMAP randomly deleting old messages on Iphone

I have started switching over to Yahoo IMAP Mail to make organizing emails easier since I hardly use my desktop to check emails anymore. The problem I have begun running into is that I will save my messages to folders. When I check on my older emails (not necessarily ones in folders), I will briefly see the message, but my Iphone is downloading the current list. Once the Iphone has the updated email list, it deletes some of the messages I had saved. I know the messages were there because I can see them briefly before they get "updated."
I have checked the account online and found them to be forever deleted there as well. There is no way to recover these emails that have been randomly lost. I have changed my account info to the point where there should no absolutely no reason whatsoever for any email to be deleted, yet this occurs occassionally without any rhyme or reason. I have set the "view email" option to the max (200 msgs I believe.)
The IMAP would be perfect (I can get over not having my email push everytime,) except that some important emails get deleted randomly. I have not seen any post on this so far, does anyone else have this problem?

HI,
From within the app it is not possible in the Beta
However using the Finder as the "Front" app use the Go Menu and Hold the ALT key and then chose th Library.
In the Library go to the Messages folder and delete chat.db  - just drag it to the Trash
Restart Messages

  • IMessage randomly deleted old messages?

Hi there - after upgrading to iOS, Messages randomly deleted some of my old messages for some of my contacts.  For example, I previously had over a year of correspondence with my best friend, and as of last Saturday it just completely restarts.  Some of the older messages are on my iPad (some of them that were sent from the iPhone aren't, for some reason).
Settings-wise, I still have it set to retain messages forever, and I have a ton of open storage space.  Ideas?

No, it would not continue a thread on her phone from your non-iPhone, but would be its own. The threads are created based not just on the contact, but the device. So, if she had not deleted a thread from you from your Android device, then you texted her from your iPhone, it would be two separate threads. Then if you iMessaged from your iPod, it would be like a 3rd device, since that comes from your email.
I do not understand why old threads would be deleted, since there isn't anything in the iPhone that will automatically delete a thread. The only exception is if your SMS inbox is full, but we are talking a lot of messages before that happens.

By "sending" do you mean sending email?
If so, what app are you using to take the photos on your iPhone 5? Or are the photos from a different source (saved to your Camera Roll from somewhere else, like a web page or Messages)?
My guess is that Mail gives you the option to send different file sizes when it detects you are trying to Mail a really large photo file. The size of photos on the iPhone 5 is really big and some email providers may stop your mail from being delivered if attachments are too large. Thus, Mail tries to help you by offering to resize the photo.
I suspect that if you are sending smaller files, Mail does not bother giving you options to save a smaller version. In fact, I have seen this behavior. So, if the photo is already "small enough", it gets sent as-is.
To my  knowledge, there is no global iOS setting for this. Some apps may have different rules, of course.

  • Im trying to delete old messages from my iphone 4 but how can i view them on a computer to make it easier?

hi i have recently backed up my iphone 4 to do a wipe of my phone. i got all my info back on it but was wondering how can i view my messages on my computer so that i can delete old messages from months ago without actually having to delete the recent ones?

The backup includes text messages but they are stored in a format meant only for restoring back to the phone. There are 3rd party backup extractors that can view them. One of them is http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/ibackupextractor/

  • Where do I go to delete old messages and not SAVE any?

Where do I go to delete old messages and not save any?

    Hello there Ibent50,
If I understand correctly it sounds like you are wanting to delete some messages or whole conversations on your iPhone. This page from the iPhone User Guide should help you do that:
    Manage conversations - iPhone
Delete a message. Touch and hold a message or attachment, tap More, select additional items if desired, then tap .
Delete a conversation. In the Messages list, swipe the conversation to the left, then tap Delete.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • Deleting old messages in Messages Beta

On the iPad and iPhone, deleting old messages is easy. On Mac, the "cut" key is inactive and whatever I do (including deleting iChat files storing messages) old messages keep coming back every time opening Messages Beta. How do I get rid of them once for all?

  • How do you delete voicemail messages from iphone 5s

I'm trying to delete voicemail messages from iphone 5s.  Based on visiting previous discussions on this subject, I've tried "resetting network settings" and "turning airport mode ON, deleting messages, then turning airport mode OFF" -- to no avail. I'm receiving an alert that I've reached capacity...please assist. I run my business on my iPhone and right now I'm missing opportunities.
Thanks in advance for your expediency.

    From the iPhone User Manual:

  • HT4528 How do you delete 'SAVED MESSAGES' on iPhone 5s

How do you delete 'SAVED MESSAGES' on iPhone 5s?  It's taking up about 10GB of 32 GB capacity.

After much searching on the web and reading many (sometimes amusing) posts on this topic here is what I have found.
In Settings>General>Usage my saved mesages were using 3.2Gb and no apparently immediate way of deleting them.
However as the good book says "seek and ye shall find".
SO this is where I went:
Settings>iCloud>Account> then scroll down to ADVANCED and select Mail; again scroll down to the bottom and select Advanced and yet again scroll to the bottom (well at least to DELETED MESSAGES) and tap on the line called Remove.
Here at last you will find a setting that enables you to select the period after which iOS will remove your deleted messages.
The shortest period is one day so you will haev to wait 24 hours to finally have that memory back but it should work and is a nice feature in iOS although it is well burried!!

  • Deleting old messages problem (adapter status 001)

    Hi,
I am trying to delete old messages, and some of them are staying in system. Here is the result of 'RSXMB_SHOW_STATUS' report:
    Message Status
    Message Status:      003 Number:             85.274
Adapter Status of Messages with Message Status:              003
    Adapter Status:      000 Number:              4.040
    Adapter Status:      001 Number:             74.290
    Adapter Status:      002 Number:                  0
    Adapter Status:      003 Number:                  0
    Adapter Status:      004 Number:                  0
    Adapter Status:      005 Number:                  0
    Adapter Status:      006 Number:              4.806
    Adapter Status:      007 Number:              2.122
    Adapter Status:      008 Number:                  6
    Adapter Status:      009 Number:                  0
    Adapter Status:      010 Number:                  0
    Adapter Status >     010 Number:                  0
So, there is 74.290 messages whith 001 status in adapter. Archieve and delete jobs don't want to delete them, and status isn't going to change. Refreshing adapter status did help with most of messages but 74.290 is what still there after refresh. Any ideas how to bring them to final state or may be its possible delete them in this state?

    Hi,
Above  Messages are related to your IDoc and BPM related interfaces...
so you need to schedule a report which does the deletion of the same...
Check the reports scheduled are running or not...
I dont remeber the reports which does the job of changing the status...

To get rid of "pop-up ads and other crap on my computer when I am on the internet", click on Safari in the Menu bar, and select Preferences. Next select Extensions. Delete all of them. Restart Safari.
The first step in addressing the black screen is an SMC reset.
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

  • Is there any way to delete saved messages from IPhone 4 memory?

Is there any way to delete saved messages from IPhone 4 memory?

Firstly you DO NOT have to do a factory reset / wipe device, it is simply not required to get the space back!!
Mine had 3GB and I just got rid of it all, here is how:
    Make a backup in iTunes
    open iBackupBot (Google it)
    Go to the relevant backup
Click on Multimedia File Manager and click on the other Multimedia files tab
Sort by filename by clicking the Filename tab
Find MediaDomain/Library/SMS/Attachments and highlight all of them, then press delete.  You can also click to export to a folder of your choice, if you want to save them that is.
    Then go to System Files>MediaDomain>Library>SMS>Attachments
They will be all listed here, highlight them all and press delete
Then just restore that backup using iTunes!
Tadaa! Space recovered, your messages are still there but without the attachments!
P.S You may want to make two backups in case you get any of the above steps wrong, but it is simple to follow the above and not do anything wrong!

  • When I try to delete a message it deletes but then the app freezes and when I restart my phone the message is still there. How do I delete old messages?

I have an iphone 4s with ios 7.0. I'm trying to update to ios 7.1 but I don't have enough storage space because I have so many old messages and this glitch is preventing me from deleting them to free more space.

Try restoring your iPhone.  Plug it into iTunes on your computer (current version), let it sync, then choose "Restore" from the iPhone's summary page in iTunes.

  • Can't delete old message

I'm on an iPhone. Everything updated.
When I select a person to talk to, any person, part of an old message is already typed in for me and ready to send. This isn't the first time it's happened but I couldn't get rid of it last time either. It just went away with an update or something.
Any advice? Does this happen to anyone else? It's really annoying to have to delete the old message and type my new one every single time.

However after part of the Itune update completed a message came up on the screen
saying   "The feature you are trying to use is on a net work resource that is unavailable.
Which particular .msi file does the message go on to say cannot be found? (Several different .msi files might be mentioned in this context: itunes.msi, bonjour.msi, AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi, etc.)

  • Can't delete old messages

I have some old messages that were imported sometime back, and I want to delete them, but they won't delete! I have tried to move them to trash, to move them again...nothing seems to work.
They turn black (ie, lose their color coding) but they just sit in the folder.
    Any tips?
Can I go into the mail folders in "Library" and delete them from that end?
    If so, how?

select the mailbox with these messages in Mail and choose "rebuild mailbox" from the mailbox menu.

I dont think there is a specific reason for this. If you feel this would be a good new feature, then let apple know. They have a page for feature requests: www.apple.com/feedback
