Yahoo login problem was Verizon DSL now Verizon cellphone

I'm not even sure where to start.  About February 2009 I started experiencing login issues with my Verizon Browser.  For the Login the options were the Verizon.net account, my regular Yahoo account and Guest.  For years I have always logged in to my regular Yahoo email.  Then the problems started earlier this year where I repeated would get 'wrong password' when attempting to log in my regular Yahoo so I started to have to log in the Verizon.net account and then click over to the regular Yahoo email account (no password required and when security timed out had no issue accepting my password).  Then at the end of April 2009 my hard drive crashed.  I threw my hands up and decided to handle the computer problem when I returned from vacation May 17th.
We returned from Europe and I replaced my hard drive, reinstalled my computer programs, but NOT the Verizon Browser.  Haven't a clue if it's a contributing factor to the next problem.  Without the Login box I was no longer forced to log into Verizon.net to get to my regular Yahoo account and I no longer experienced an issue logging into my regular Yahoo email.  However, then I started experiencing login issues on my cellphone.  I have an LG with 'broadband' service and have accessed by Yahoo email account via my cell phone for years.  It also seems that long since I've ever had to enter my username and password, however, suddenly it's required probably 8 out of 10 accesses.  And it doesn't recognize my login many of those times which pretty much renders the cellphone useless since I don't make many calls.  It repeatedly will give me error messages saying my username and/or password are incorrectly (AND THEY ARE NOT!).  Unlike the computer, I cannot login to the Verizon.net email account as it says it has determined I have a Yahoo account and need to log in that way (it also means I can never check my Verizon.net email account via my cellphone).  Often the login problem clears once I access my email via my desktop, but this is not an option when I'm traveling.
I am totally loss as to where the problem lies.  Don't know if it's an extention of the same type of problem, but on my cell phone about February 2009 I started to have to ALWAYS respond to the security question when accessing my bank via the cellphone.  I always check the box that I use this device to access my accounts and the only time I don't have to respond to one of the questions is if I log back into the bank site within minutes of the original login.

I am on OSX 10.7.5 and recently had to reinstall it due to 'mail' not working correctly.  That problem was resolved but now my I can't use the 'right click' function on the apple usb mouse.  I only have a previous version re-install disc as I bought the latest OSX off the app store.  Any help gratefully received?

Hmmm, no, no drivers needed, now it sounds like a bad install... unless you might have some old Mouse software installed???
    If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

  • Yahoo login problems

Are there any known problems with Yahoo logins currently? I'm getting erroneous bad password errors using either the main profile sign in or the Flickr widget, using the latest firmware and widget versions. A bit of searching suggests that this was a known problem in November but I'd assume it would have been fixed by now.

  • Problems trying to install Verizon DSL to laptop..

Hi, Im trying to install verizon dsl software from the setup cd but im having problems.
At first, it opened the cd but i accidently closed it while it was running and now my laptop cannot read it.
I already have a verizon account this one, and im using a wifi connection thats free around my area .
I just wanted to use the model 7500 as my wireless router but I cant hook up to the internet from the ethernet cable for some reason. Please help, I've been trying to fix this for days while my desktop is running fine, my laptop is having problems.
I want to know if there's an alternate way to download verizon software not from the cd because the cd's not working for me.
    Thanks!

it might be your browser.  I had that problem when I tried to activate using firefox.
I had to use internet explorer to activate succesfully.
If you are using the CD and it gives you that problem, then try to use internet explorer, and go to http://activate.verizon.net

  • Verizon DSL Connection Problems

Hello, I hope this is the right place to post this My problems all began after purchasing a brand new computer. My Verizon DSL service worked perfectly on my old machine (with Windows XP) but I'm sure part of this issue is that I now have Windows Vista.
When I first set up my new computer I quickly found that Windows Vista had a new "feature" of automatically identifying devices for you and installing the necessary things to make it work. To start with I cancelled the Windows prompts and figured I'd was suppoed to use the Verizon DSL disk, but it did not work. A little window would come up with a fancy Verizon graphic then it will close and say some file could not be found. I tried multiple times but the same thing occured so I followed the Windows Vista prompts which eventually connected me to the Internet! I searched online and found that the disk is not compatible with Windows Vista, or at least the disk I was using wasn't because it was created before Windows Vista was even released.
Anyway, the Internet worked fine that whole day and even the next but then my Internet connection started becoming unreliable. It will work perfectly for hours but then I will notice that a certain page isn't loading.
Sometimes if I press Refresh on that page a "Connect To..." dialog box will come up and if I hit 'Cancel' it will say that the page cannot be found. But then if I refresh again it will load correctly.
Other times it will not work at all. The icon in the System tray will tell me that I'm connected to the Internet but it will not work.
And still other times a different prompt will come up asking for a username and password.
First off, I had multiple passwords for "verizon.net" another for "myverizon.net" another for "verizon email", etc. So I didn't know which one to use! I also didn't know if my username should include @verizon.net or @verizon.com or nothing at all after it! I tried every possible combination to no avail. After I enter a set a window will pop up saying "Connecting through WAN Miniport PPpOE" but then it will say the connection failed. Sometimes however it will say, "you are already connected to the Internet". But when I hit "start browsing the Web" nothing will load. Finishing today I have made all the passwords the same to ensure that is not the problem
I also tried "admin" and "password" which I found people mentioning online, but this always gives me "connection failed" messages, too.
Until I restart my PC nothing will work. If I shutoff the modem and turn it back on it will not work anymore regardless of if it was still working before. I have tried virtually everything before coming here -desperate! I have researched online and used every possible thing that comes up:
-Turning off modem for 30 seconds and then turning it back on
-Closing my firewall + Windows Firewall
    -Shutting off virus program
-Shutting off virus program and firewall
-trying to setup a new connection
    -running windows diagnostics:
it will either say there is no problem with my internet connection
or it will say something like "HTTP is not configured to access the server at HTTP://"
-disabling then re-enambling the integrated Network Card
    - typing netsh winsock reset as an administrator into the command line and restarting
    - typing netsh int ip reset as an administrator into the command line and restarting (this was the last thing I did and SO far so good...)
I have read online that the problem could be the modem so if I cannot get the issue fixed I will try to get a new modem from Verizon. Otherwise I am anxious to hear what input the users here can offer.
Some information on my computer that you might need:
Windows Vista Home Premium (Intel Core 2 Duo E8400)
Westell 6100 Modem (connected via Ethernet cable)
Realtek RTL8102/8103 Family PCI-E FE NIC
    ZoneAlarm Free Firewall
    AVG Anti-Virus Free
No wireless network devices (a printer is installed but it was installed after the problems appeared)
Thank you for reading and thank you in advance to anyone who can offer some insight into this problem.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Your dBs appear to be good but your data transfers are woefully too low.
dBs above 20 are great.  Data transfer should be well above 1000 but is only 864.  Enough to have communication, but not what you are paying to have.
Your pings are in the hundreds - should be less than 100 ms.
However, when you did the traceroute, all pings were below 100 ms.   (BTW, routers involved in that connection included Newark, NYC, and Washington).
Does that signal strength remain high or does it keep changing?  The fact that ping and traceroute had signficantly different numbers suggests your signals are coming on and going away.  If ping has long times, then tracerouter should show those same long times starting with the bad communication problem.
Numbers suggest a problem between your modem and the DSLAM.  Normally bad communication is traceable to low signal strength.  You have good signal strength (when measured) but bad data rates.  Is that signal strength constantly changing?  Look for a pattern.  Signal strengths changing? How are those echo times changing? When signal timing is slowest, what server (connection)
is too slow?  Look for the pattern since it appears your problem is intermittent - or something else.

  • Verizon DSL drops out intermittently: problems for 10 months

Subject: Verizon DSL drops out intermittently:  problems for 10 months
    Hi all,
Just wondering if any one can help.  We had Verizon DSL on our home phone line for six years in Worcester MA.  The first five years we had little to problems.  The last 10 months we’ve have frequent (nearly every day drop out and period where the DSL line can’t connect for minutes to sometimes hours).
We’ve had seven different technicians visit us for a total of thirteen visits.  They’ve replaced the line coming into our house multiple times and isolated our home phone lines from the DSL feed but this hasn’t helped. Verizon tech support can’t seem to get back to me with a detailed plan of what they are going to do next and few representatives return my phone calls.
We’ve also tried at least five router and modems and it hadn’t helped.  They recently changed the DSL card(?) in the local office (~7000 ft away) and said they switched us to ADS2.
We’re still seeing internet drops and we’re at our wit’s end.
    Any ideas?
Here’s our transceiver stats from our Verzion 7500 DSL modem combo:
    Transceiver Revision     A2pB020b3.d20h
    Vendor ID Code          4D54
    Line Mode                   ADSL_2plus
    Data Path                     FAST
Transceiver Information            Down Stream Path       Up Stream Path
    DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec)            3358                            863
    Margin (dB)                             9.2                               7.0
    Line Attenuation (dB)               44.0                             19.4
    Transmit Power (dBm)21.0                             12.4
    Thanks,

Well, we're getting pretty fed up.  Here's the letter that we are sending out for a Verizon Presidential Appeal...
    To:
     Verizon, St. Petersburg, FL
    Verizon Technical Team, Worcester, MA
The Department of Telecommunications and Cable, Consumer Division, Boston, MA
    Better Business Bureau
    Dear Sirs,
We are writing to lodge a formal complaint about our Verizon DSL service, and the extremely
poor treatment we have received while trying to resolve this (still unresolved) problem. We have had
intermittent internet outages for the last 12 months. This followed five years of normal DSL service at
the same address. Our problems worsened this spring; our internet is out a few minutes to several
hours a day, most days a week. Our next door neighbors have the same problem with their Verizon
DSL service, though they do not use the internet very often so are less affected than we are. We rely
on consistent internet service for our jobs.
We have had 13 technician visits to our home from a total of seven different technicians. On
multiple occasions, we have also been stood up for scheduled technician visits, including days in
which we took off work to be home. Two of these times in which we were stood up were not visits that
Verizon initiated, where we were told we needed to be home. Additionally, we have received
several “auto-calls” informing us that our problem is fixed and our work tickets have been closed. This
is extremely upsetting to us, as our problem has never been fixed as we have explained many times.
Several technicians have spoke confidently (and condescendingly) that their work would fix our
problem; these are generally the technicians we never saw again.
It is clear from our several calls each month to Verizon that persons and departments within
the company do not communicate with one another. Time and time again, we have been shuffled from
person to person, and now believe that no one wants to expend the effort to deal with our problems.
For example, multiple employees have failed to call us back when they said they would. We have
asked several times for a team of creative thinkers (with the authority to act) to brainstorm some sort
of solution and let us know what Verizon was doing to solve our problem. This has not happened. We
have made extensive notes about our service interruptions and our correspondence with Verizon over
the last several months; these are included in this packet. We also have multiple videos across several
months showing that DSL signal is not available.
We believe that a new line needs to be put in from the local hub to our house, a distance of
only a few blocks. (See notes on reverse of page.) At this point, we have no faith that Verizon is
willing to fix this problem and restore service to us. This is truly a shameful way to do business.
If Verizon is unwilling to restore our DSL service to acceptable levels, we would like Verizon to
Notes: This is what Verizon has told us they have done:
    1. Isolated our phone line from DSL.
    2. Replaced the line from our street to our home.
    3. Switched the F2.
    4. Put us on an A-DSL2 card at the local hub.
We have tried seven DSL modems and six routers without success. The problem is not within
our house; that is clear. We believe a new F1 line is needed. We were even told by a company
representative on the phone “well, DSL is on copper wire…” - basically from our view, an admission
that copper wire can go bad, and that this may be the cause of our problems. We have asked for a
new F1 line to be installed several times and been brushed off each time.

  • New computer (windows 7) connection problem with Verizon DSL

I just bought a new computer to replace a dead one.  I took the old one away and plugged the new one into the Verizon cable.  I have Verizon DSL, no wireless, no network at home, just a computer and a Westell modem.
On the new computer, I have a successful internet connection in that I can reach Google.  I can conduct a Google search, but when I click on a search result I cannot reach that site.  I CAN successfully send and receive Gmail.  I CANNOT connect to Verizon's website, Amazon, Washington Post, Ebay, or most other sites.  What happens when I try is a small box comes up in the browser window saying "Connecting to [name of site]" and the in-progress thing goes around and around.  This will go on for as long as I let it (more than 1/2 hour), with no timeout or failure message -- just an empty browser window.  Results are the same in Explorer and Firefox.
I hooked a borrowed computer into my Verizon line and the internet connection works fine to any site I try (I'm on it now).  Verizon techs have also done a line test and it's fine.
I have taken the new computer (running Windows 7) back to the store 3 times.  They have hooked it into an Earthlink DSL line there and have shown me they have no difficulty whatsoever going to any of the sites that are not working for me at home.  They say the problem MUST be something to do with my Verizon connection.
I've called Verizon tech support 3 times now.  They say it's not them, and there's nothing they can do -- but their Remote Assistant software isn't able to connect IN to my machine, just as I can't connect OUT to the Verizon site.  I have asked for a more up-to-date modem and was refused.
I was tempted to just upgrade to FIOS but Verizon is being so unhelpful I am ready to bail on Verizon entirely.  Before I do, can anyone suggest what might be going on here?

I bought an HP computer at Staples and had the same problem.  HP and Verizon could find no problems.  Verizon said the would send me a new modem to see if that fixed the problem. The problem was corrected after Verizon sent me a new modem for free.

  • Problems setting up Verizon DSL (DHCP) and AirPort Extreme

I have Verizon DSL with DHCP and old router (Linksys WRT54G). I've bought iMac and new router (AirPort Extreme) to connect to iMac wirelessly. I have a Windows computer connected to the Linksys WRT54G. Now here is the story. I can connect verizon DSL modem (it's in bridge mode) to PC directly and connect to the Internet. When I plug AirPort between the DSL modem and PC, auto-configuration doesn't work, AirPort utility says there is problem with internet connection. Router simply can't obtain IP address from verizon's DHCP server. I've tried to copy DNS server addressed from the IP configuration in Windows, the AirPort light went green and Windows indicated connection as successful, however I still cound't browse the Internet because gateway is not set. Any ideas how to make AirPort connect to the internet using DHCP instead of manual settings? I can try to do it from the mac if needed, I don't think it would make any difference though.

    Welcome to the discussions!
Sorry, I can't quite track exactly what you are trying to do.
What would the network that you are trying to set up look like?
Modem>AirPort Extreme>Computers? Are you saying that you won't be using the Linksys in the new setup?
Sounds like you need to set the Airport Extreme up to supply PPPoE service (which the Linksys is doing now-if the modem is in bridge mode), but I will wait for your response before offering specific info.
If you've been fiddling with settings, we may need to do a hard-reset on the AX to start over. You should not be fiddling with DNS, etc. Almost always, these settings are done automatically when you have the device set up correctly.

  • Verizon DSL problem with WRT54GS

I got my wireless router a while back. I was able to make it run with my Time Warner cable box perfectly. However, we now have Verizon DSL. The dsl works fine with the desktop computer, but when I try to connect the dsl modem to my wireless router and then to the desktop, it doesn't work. The laptop and desktop can neither pick up the internet signal. How can I configure the router to work with my verizon dsl? Service: Verizon dsl. Modem: Model 6100. Desktop: Compaq Presario 6000. Windows XP. Laptop: Acer Aspire 5570. Windows Vista. Wireless router: WRT54GS

try following the steps as below :
    1)connect the computer to the router's port#1
2)reset the router for 30 seconds and do a power cycle
3)access the router using http://192.168.1.1 . the default password is admin
4)change the router's local ip add to 192.168.2.1
5)connect the modem to the router's internet port .. do a power cycle
    6)access the router using http://192.168.2.1
7)go to the "status" tab and check whether there is any internet ip add
8)if there is one , try going online
9)if the internet ip add is 0.0.0.0 , go to the "setup" tab and change the "internet connection type" to PPPoE . enter the username and password provided by the ISP
10)go to the "status" tab and ensure that the connection status is connected and it has a valid internet ip add

  • Yahoo email OK after cancelling Verizon DSL?

Will my 'Verizon Yahoo" email account still be OK after I cancel my Verizon DSL?
I access my email at mail.yahoo.com. My email address is similar to [email protected] The banner at the top of the page says Verizon Yahoo Mail and the menu includes some Verizon items. I'm cancelling my Verizon DSL and  switching to another ISP (but keeping my Verizon phone service, for now.) What will happen to this Yahoo email account after I cancel my Verizon DSL? Will it still exist, with all my saved messages and folder intact?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    some_user

Based on past experiences, if your e-mail is supplied via Yahoo from Verizon, your messages and account should stay intact. However, you must note that your e-mail address will change. After your account is terminated and Verizon has finished up the account on their end, the next time you go to log into your Yahoo account, Yahoo will ask you to set up the account again.
In essence, logging into what is the "Suspended" account should convert your account to a free Yahoo account. This policy may have changed as both Verizon and Yahoo have been changing their services around, so you may want to get clarification from Verizon support. On the safe side, connect to your mailbox via POP and download the contents of your mailbox to a local mail client, leaving e-mail on the server. Export your e-mail contacts to a file and save that, too.

  • Problem connecting to wifi from Verizon DSL router

I recently had "upgraded" to the newer Verizon Westell router (7500, I think).  Well, I have setup the wireless to be able to connect a smart phone.  Unfortunately, that smart phone is on AT&T (Samsung Infuse 4G).  I was hoping to be cheap and use my DSL from Verizon to connect via wifi.  It worked at first, prior to securing the wifi.  I can connect through the wifi, but I am immediately transferred to a secure Verizon website trying to get me to "activate" my account.  It will not let me go anyway, but to that site.  Am I missing something?  I am locked out of my wifi since I have a competitors cellular account?  Any help would be great.

Simply applying security to your router will not cause the "walled garden" message your getting about activating account. Has your Verizon account ever been suspended before? If so, you will need to clear temp browsing data on your phone. Also make sure you are connecting to your network and that it didn't hop on a neighbbors unlocked network. Phones can be configured to automatically connect to an unsecured network and that customers service might be suspended. If you run into further problems please send a private message.

  • Verizon DSL and Airport Extreme Setup Problem

I have Verizon DSL (not FIOS). I am using a Westell modem, model number B90-210015-04.
I try to go through the setup but the Airport Extreme Utility says it cannot find a valid IP address (the light keeps flashing).
I have it setup in bridge mode since I think my modem is also a router. However, there are a lot of other inputs in the setup and I don't know if I need to put in anything for those (e.g. DNS Servers, Domain Name, etc.). I called Verizon and they said there shouldn't be any special inputs. They implied it should just work out of the box.
The modem is working with my existing Netgear router (model number WGR614 v4).
    Any help?

Had the same problem. Had the same setup as yours.
If you use WPA/WPA2 and if your password is too short (less than or equal to 8 characters), the AirPort Extreme Utility will misleadingly tell you it cannot find a valid IP address. As it turns out, WPA/WPA2 requires a longer password (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wpa2). I don't understand why a weak password would result in a confusing error message like this, but after I used a stronger and longer password, the dreadful amber light finally turned green!
PS: I didn't enter any DNS/DHCP info nor my DSL account/password info throughout the entire setup process. I figured that if I didn't need these pieces of information with the old router before then I shouldn't need them with this new hardware.

  • Outgoing Mail Problem with Verizon DSL

I live in Hampton Roads, VA area and have Verizon's DSL with wireless gateway equipment on Dell Computer. My iMAC connects wirelessly to the gateway and connects to Internet fine and receives email fine on the Verizon POP account. I have verified settings and read most of the topics on the post and am very frustrated. There does not seem to be a definative answer on whether outgoing mail should work with Verizon DSL. Any new insights on this topic or something to look at? Dell is set to use Port 25 and sends fine so I know this is the port to use.

What does “is not working” mean? What’s the problem exactly?
If you cannot send with the outgoing (SMTP) server provided by your ISP, the problem could be that you’re telling Mail to authenticate, but the outgoing server doesn’t actually require authentication because it can determine who you are by other means.
