Yahoo Mail extremely slow on Firefox 12

Yahoo Mail works fine in IE9 but is extremely slow on Firefox 12 after applying Java update 7.11 patch. Please advise on how to fix the issue.

Yo soci888! Why are you on Firefox 12? All the cool people are on Firefox 18 now. Time to upgrade and join the crew. Check out this upgrade link: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-version
Here is another suggested solution from another solver:
"I had the same problem. Opening Firefox in Safe mode cured it, so I knew it had to be a setting or plugin of some sort....I did all the recommended fixes and nothing changed the typing being real slow and behind when running in normal mode.
What fixed it for me is turning off the hardware acceleration option in Firefox. Here's how: Click on Firefox->Options->Advanced->General tab. Then uncheck the checkbox "Use hardware acceleration when available". Click OK. Hope it works for you. Good luck!"

Hope this helps,

  • I can no longer attach files in Yahoo mail since upgrading to FireFox 4.0.1. I click the "attach" button and nothing happens - no file list to select from appears; nothing.

Since upgrading to Firefox 4.0.1 the "attach files" function in my Yahoo Mail account no longer functions. When I click the "attach files" button nothing happens - nothing. No file selection box opens, no error message appears, no pinwheel of death, nothing.
The "attach files" button is no longer 'hot' in FF 4.0.1 either = the "little hand" icon does not appear when I scroll over it. Other action buttons are still 'hot' ("attachments", "emoticons", "format", "hide bcc"etc.) - just not the "attach files" button.
The Yahoo Mail "attach files" function still works when I use my Safari browser, however. So, it appears to be a FF4.0.1 issue.

  • SMS in YAHOO mail not working in Firefox

In the drop down box for Yahoo Mail, Compose Message, if I click on SMS, it just turns a little blue and then sits there. Nothing happens. No SMS box, nothing. I was able to freely send and receive SMS messages up until about 3 days ago. It will not work in Mozilla Firefox, no matter what I do. If I go to Internet Explorer, it DOES work. I have the 9.0.1 Firefox version, which I updated to about 2 weeks ago.

Unless Yahoo changed something, which certainly is possible, the suggested approach is the usual:
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove your Yahoo cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove your Yahoo cookies without affecting other sites.
Then try reloading the page and logging back in. Any improvement?
To rule out extensions as a possible culprit, could you try the site in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
''Flash and other plugins still run in Safe Mode''
After Firefox closes, a small dialog should display. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)
    Any difference?
Some users have reported that older bookmarks or home pages do not redirect to the latest Yahoo server correctly. As a workaround, try accessing mail through the home page (www.yahoo.com or att.yahoo.com or whichever one it happens to be).

  • Yahoo mail not working in firefox anymore

Ever since last week yahoo mail has stopped working in firefox, the page loads but everything I click on doesn't open. I don't know what has changed since then. I upgraded to firefox 28 prior to it and it worked fine for about a week then all of a sudden yahoo stopped. I think it is a yahoo problem because it only works in Chrome now not very well in Safari either but since I use firefox the most I wanted to know if anyone else was having trouble with this as well

Have you tried to clear the cache or can you try opening in Private Window mode and tell whether it works or not.

Sorry, I don't have any other suggestions, except that I did find a thread on the Apple Discussions forum about a similar problem with Safari and Yahoo mail attachments:

Re: Safari doesn't work with yahoo mail: always getting beach ball<br>
Feb 7, 2012 10:15 AM (in response to Anamariela)
Well, my problem with Yahoo Classic is different--I cannot click on some of the buttons! Very weird. No beach ball, but when I attach files to send an email and click on "Attach Files", nothing. Same with a couple others.
Going to try to install the new Flash as Mark suggested. Anyone else have this issue?
I probably should change to Yahoo's newer mail app but I just prefer the Classic version.
You might want to read the other replies in that Apple discussion and try the suggestions ... or just contact Yahoo help, if no one else replies here.

  • Not able to edit Yahoo Mail address book. Okay with Apple Safari's Yahoo Mail but not with Firefox's,

Editing a contact in Yahoo Mail it always just "hangs" (doing nothing) when I am using Firefox. Editing the same account using Apple's Safari browser went through without any problem. It seems that Firefox interface with Yahoo caused this.

Just found the answer (it's a reported bug) and a likely solution!
Instead of dragging the group over to the 'To' box in a new email, the suggestion was to just start typing the name of the group. So far it seems to be working!!!

  • Saving attachments in Mail extremely slow!!!

I can't seem to find any mention of this anywhere! But since 10.5.2 saving attachments from mail is extremely slow. Try an email with many attachments - more than 10. The size doesn't seem to matter. It takes roughly 1 second per attachment. Pre 10.5.2 was almost instant. Problem remains in 10.5.3.
Doesn't matter if I hit the 'save' button or choose 'save attachments' from the File menu.
Other mail programs do not do this. (Entourage, Gayzmail)
I think it has something to with quarantine but can't find any info.
    Steve

Works here in 10.6.8.  Are you using Lion, by chance?

  • Facebook (the entire website) runs extremely slow in Firefox.

This doesn't happen with any other websites. It's extremely slow to scroll, load pages, etc. and whenever I have a Facebook tab open it slows down the whole browser. The browser goes back to normal speed as soon as the Facebook tabs are closed. The worst is when I am typing a message or comment on Facebook - especially messages - it lags behind my actual typing speed so badly that I have to stop and wait for the characters to catch up to me, sometimes for several minutes just to finish a single sentence before I can move on. It's making it extremely difficult to use as a communication tool and I'm not sure what to do about it.

I noticed that this is when you have zoomed using CTRL & +.
If you reset to the default size with CTRL+0 typing speed is normal...

  • I am having trouble with yahoo mail, very slow to send never used to be this way started before iOs5 update

I am having trouble with mail, yahoo has started to have a problem sending, slow or not at all started before latest update, help

I noticed this at one point and what I did, which worked, was to delete the mailbox from my iPad, then reinstall it.  Give it a try and see if it helps you as well.

  • Mail: extremely slow

    Hello
Recently my mail app has begun to run really slowly. For example, when I click on an unread message, it takes several seconds for the message to be regestered as read and for the small blue circle to disappear. I have more than 16,000 messages - it that the problem? If so, how do I preserve the hundreds of messages that I need records of without slowing down my Mail app
    Very grateful for any feedback
    Doug

I had the same problem.
Good luck!

  • Some functions, (delete, move, anything with a drop-down menu, etc), will not work in Yahoo Mail since upgrading to Firefox 7. I've switched back to Yahoo Mail Classic and that seems to work fine, so far.

I'm used to the new mail. It was a pain to find out how to switch to classic. On a side note, What is with the constant re-hauls/updates? It's getting tiresome, constantly encountering problems like this each time. I like Firefox and don't want to switch...........

  • Is your Mail extremely slow trying to send to a "group" from Contacts?

I can't believe how long this is taking to just add a couple groups from my Contacts into the To: area of a message in Mail.  I've never had this problem with my older 10.6.8 OS.  There are about 150 addresses in one group and less than 10 in another, yet, once I type in the group name, everything slows down to a snails pace in Mail and I can't type one letter without having the beachball of death start spinning.  This is ridiculous!  Is anyone else having these kinds of problems?  Generally Mail in Mavericks has been working well for me - the amount of spam has decreased tremendously, but this new issue is a big problem!
    Thanks for any insight,
    kt

I am climbing the walls with this.
I have to type the text of the mail, then insert the group.
Forgot about changing anything later or adding a second group.
It takes several minutes to change one character.
Activity Monitorshows "Mail (Not Responding)", CPU running 99.9%
    Crazy.
