Yahoo Mail HELP!!!

ok, so earlier today, when i entered the mail application, i got the error that said: Cannot Get Mail - The username or password for imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com is incorrect. Ok, so i tried to reset my account, however i get the same error. When i log into my email from yahoo's website however, it works. Does anybody know how to fix this?

I am getting the same error, but the odd part is that it is only on one of my yahoo accounts. The email acct that is failing to access email via the iphone has a longer user name (13 [email protected]). Does anyone else have or know of a problem with accounts that have "long" email addresses?

• I have a 27" imac. If I log on to yahoo mail, the color wheel comes up and i cant check email or send. It only happens as soon as i log into my yahoo mail! Please help someone.

I am new to Using Apple. I've had my Imac for about 5 months, Recently when I log on to my Yahoo mail, if I click on any of my email, or if I try to compose an email, the color wheel turns on and it just freezes up, I am not able to view my email. This only happens with my Yahoo mail.  Someone please help? Any Suggestions?

Hi Lizzy..
If you are using web based email (accessing from Safari), from the Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Security tab.
Click: Show Cookies
Delete all Yahoo cookies.
Now from the menu bar again click Safari / Empty Cache.
Restart your Mac, launch Safari. Try Yahoo.
If the problem persists, there's a better way to access your Yahoo mail without a browser.
Launch the Mail application. Either from your Dock or Applications folder.
From the Mail menu bar click Mail / Preferences then select the Accounts tab then the Account Information tab.
Click + under the Accounts window on the left.
Type in your name, Yahoo email address and password.
Click: Create
No more having to use Safari or any browser to access your Yahoo mail. Just click the Mail icon in the Dock.

• Can anyone help with Yahoo mail deactivation?

Within the last 24 hours, my Yahoo plus email account was deactivated for some reason. I signed into Yahoo mail directly and got the notice. The thing is, I paid my $19.99 a few days ago and received a notice that I had done so. Based on the reasons for "deactivation, " my account should not have been deactivated. Here's some other info:
I successfully signed into my email account as recently as two days ago using Safari but I also use mail on my Mac mail program to retrieve and send messages.
Over the last several months I noticed that my contacts no longer "auto-filled" when on the Yahoo mail website (have no idea if this is related to Safari or Yahoo).
I've lost all my contacts and emails but have most of them on my Mac mail program. I'm afraid to sync anything because I don't want to lose it all!
When I reactivated my account, I changed my password because I was afraid I could have been hacked though I have no evidence of that.
I cannot reach a human at Yahoo though I've tried. I am tempted to walk into their headquarters with laptop and cell phone in hand...
Would love your help!

Hi Winnie,
I'm having the same problemwith the deactivation of my account, except it's the free mail account.  At least Yahoo's stuff-ups are egalitarian!
If I lived closer to Yahoo's HQ, I'd join you on the walk.  Deactivation shouldn't occur without warnings and explanations - I've received neither.
I've tried using their feedback form, asking and answering questions on Yahoo Answers and using the Yahoo Customer Care twitter feed, all to no avail.
At the very least, you should demand financial compensation as you have paid for the service.  I'm probably stuck with no recourse.
Sorry I couldn't help, but hopefully you've got some extra ammo when you do finally get through to someone.

• How do I add my Yahoo Mail account in the iMac Mail? (Please help...) :(

I tried adding the Yahoo account in my Mail, but it said "Trying to log into mail server "plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com" failed. This server may require additional fee for Yahoo POP access"?
What does this mean?
Is there no way at all that I can somehow add my yahoo account in the iMail?
Someone please kindly help...:(
Thank you so much in advance for your time and support.

*"What does this mean?"*
It means that if you don't pay for Yahoo Mail Plus, you can't have POP access.

• I can log into my yahoo home page using Firefox. I can't link from my yahoo page to yahoo mail using Firefox. Help!

I get a failure message saying: “The requested URL /mc/welcome was not found on this server. Apache/2.2.9 (Debian) PHP/5.2.6-1+lenny9 with Suhosin-Patch Server at us.mc1120.mail.yahoo.com Port 80″ I have deleted all cookies, flushed my DNS and temp files. Problem persists... I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox 3.6 and then upgraded to Firefox 4. Firefox appears to function okay in all my other browsing use. If I use IE as a browser The yahoo mail link functions correctly. I suspect that Firefox or an add-on that I don’t see listed under tools/ add-ons may be rejecting the URL “redirect” as a Phishing .attempt??? This has been going on for 2 weeks several attempts a day. Don’t just say the server is busy , try later because Firefox fails, IE works as well as the IE Tab for Firefox problem revolves around Firefox and yahoo email. I have run Norton and Spy sweeper too no problems. When I enable the Google toolbar I will get a similar error "Oops! This link appears broken." Any Help GREATLY appreciated!

"Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file ''cookies.sqlite'' that stores the cookies is corrupted.
You can rename (or delete) '''cookies.sqlite''' (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete '''cookies.sqlite-journal''' and '''cookies.txt''', if they exist, in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] in case cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

• Need Help Setting Up Chattermail with AT&T Yahoo Mail Account

Ok... so I've spent half the day trying every possible permutation of my login, server name etc and I STILL can't get Chattermail to successfully log in.
This is a paid Yahoo mail account.   The servers I succesfully use for my older 700w were:  incoming: pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com, outgoing: smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com
I'm confused by the set up in chattermail.  It doesn't have the servers marked as "outgoing" and "incoming"  I've put the incoming  server name in the "define" tab and the outgoing in the "smtp" tab.
I've tried both my entire email address and just the part before the "@" as my login.  I also have the ssl boxes checked because my system seems to be using those.
I cannot get it to work.  Does anyone have any ideas?

• When I use Firefox for Yahoo mail the tabs such as sign out, search email, help seem to be disabled. How do I make them work? Works in Internet Explorer

There are a number of tabs at top of my inbox such as sign out, search email, help, etc. They do not work. For example cannot insert a name for search email- will not give me the curser to do this. When I use internet explorer these tabs do work so not a problem with Yahoo mail- must be problem with Firefox. Recently updated Firefox.

SafeBrowser posted Recently, the Yahoo Toolbar and the Babylon extension have been reported to cause that problem. They seem to overlap invisibly over the top of the web page display. If you have either or both, uninstall or disable them/it, or see if an update is available that solves the problem.
See --> http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons
I disabled the Babylon extension and Yahoo Mail works now.
Thank you SafeBrowser

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Clear Firefox's Cache
Firefox menu > Preferences > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on yahoo.com (secure or insecure), try either:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Tools menu > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
If you can't open a page on yahoo.com, you can open the dialog on this site and change the site in the search box at the top of the dialog to yahoo.com.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Error 999 is shutting down my yahoo mail, someone suggested I "upgrade my Adobe"will this help and whaat should I do?
E-mail me [email protected]

Your suggestion of breaking up the export to pdf into sections of pages was excellent. I don't know why I didn't think of it...maybe because I was in panic mode.
For anyone else who experiences this problem, I exported 50-page sections to pdf with no problem. I now have 7 hi-res pdfs, but that's no problem. The printer should have no problem dealing with it. No error messages came up.
The only thing I can think of is that InDesign couldn't export that many documents (148) in the book palette to hi-res pdf, and it has no error message available to explain the cause—either outside ID's ability to process or out of memory, even though I have 16G of RAM.
Thanks again for your help!

• Workaround for MailTo Yahoo! Mail Helper Application bug?

I don't know if there is an active bug report for this, but for Firefox 8 with the MailTo Helper Application set to Yahoo! Mail, choosing File: Send Link opens the Yahoo mail form and inserts mailto:?To=<link> into the To: field, instead of simply inserting <link> into the Body.
I tried setting up a new MailTo Helper Application via a Javascript similar to those prescribed here: http://www.davidgilson.co.uk/2009/09/make-webmail-firefoxs-default-mail-client, but Firefox did not seem to respond to the script.
I also installed GmailDefaultMaker (which also supports Yahoo Mail and several other webmails) and tried to use that to straighten out Firefox's Yahoo Mail setup, but it accomplished nothing.
Working with the preferences in About:Config got me nowhere.
Editing MimeTypes.rdf with Windows XP Wordpad was promising. (Notepad doesn't work due to the wrong kind of character encoding.) Replacing every instance of "http://compose.mail.yahoo.com/?To=%s" with "http://compose.mail.yahoo.com/?Body=%s" results in mailto:?Body=<link> being inserted into the Body. That is an improvement, but nowhere could I find enough documentation about MimeTypes.rdf to figure out how to get rid of mailto:?To=.
(For documentation, there is http://kb.mozillazine.org/MimeTypes.rdf, but that is incomplete.)
Does anyone have a workaround?

Tom, thanks for your offer. Here is the explanation from my service provider, which includes a quote of the raw source. They're pointing the finger squarely at Apple Mail. Beats me, can you shed any light? It would be much appreciated...
...quote...
Our system admins did more research into this issue and we've found the source of why these messages cannot be displayed.
What follows is the raw html from one of the messages from Aug 11;
<HTML><BODY style=3D"word-wrap: break-word; -khtml-nbsp-mode: space;
-khtml-line-break: after-white-space; ">This one sent as html.<BR><DIV>
<SPAN class=3D"Apple-style-span" style=3D"border-collapse: separate;
border-spacing: 0px 0px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;
font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight:
normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: auto;
-khtml-text-decorations-in-effect: none; text-indent: 0px;
-apple-text-size-adjust: auto; text-transform: none; orphans: 2;
white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; "><SPAN
class=3D"Apple-style-span" style=3D"border-collapse: separate;
border-spacing: 0px 0px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial;
font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight:
normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: auto;
-khtml-text-decorations-in-effect: none; text-indent: 0px;
-apple-text-size-adjust: auto; text-transform: none; orphans: 2;
white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; "><SPAN
Notice the style=3D"
3D is equal to the = sign in the windows character map and is being written effectively twice, once in its windows format and the other in unicode, this makes the html invalid and unreadable by some readers and fails all validators that we've have put it through.
Some applications may be able to correctly determine the duplicate nature of the characters and render the html but not all.

• Help!  Syncing yahoo mail to mac mail

trying to sync mac mail to ymail. not sure how to fill out all the fields for "add an account". do i use "pop" or "imap" for incoming and how do i fill out field? do i use smptauth, etc for outgoing and (again) how exactly do i fill out field boxes? i was synced to earthlink for a few years, but now am on satellite wildblue and using free yahoo mail. any help gratefully appreciated - all i keep getting every time i attempt to set this up is "ymail server not responding" etc. so i figure i'm doing something wrong! also - i have NOT deleted my earthlink account settings yet.

You can't. Yahoo Plus only offers POP access. To do what you want, you'll need an email provider who offers email via IMAP.
