Yahoo Messenger Beta 3, System 10.5.6

My isight had been working fine, even with this beta software. All of a sudden, I can't get isight to work in Yahoo messenger beta 3. I can message, but the minute I attempt turning on my camera, the software goes into "not responding" (just before this I get my image, but no video).
I've tried isight with ichat, photobooth, all works well.
Any ideas?

  • Unable to download Yahoo Messenger Beta version and Adium

    Hi there,
    Need help!!!
i've been having problem downloading yahoo messenger beta or even adium. can't seem to figure out why so I was hoping someone here would know if its connected to Safari.
I click download but it doesn't do anything at all.

    Hi,
Hmm, uninstalling it should have rectified things. Did you also try rebooting after running the uninstall process?
If you did, do you have anything in the following folders:
Hard drive > Users > Your Username > Library > InputManagers
Hard drive > Users > Your Username > Library > Application Support > SIMBL
Hard drive > Library > InputManagers
Hard drive > Library > Application Support > SIMBL
Those folders may not exist, so it's not a problem if you can't find them. If you do find them, drag the contents of those folders onto your Desktop, completely quit Safari (Safari menu > Quit) and then relaunch Safari and try another download.

  • Voice chat in Yahoo Messenger beta 2 version for Mac

I downloaded Yahoo Messenger beta 2 version. I am not able to voice chat with friends like I used to do in a windows PC. My friends say they get an error message while attempting for voice chat. error message that version is different. Could someone please identify the problem and suggest a solution.

Since Yahoo Messenger is not an Apple product you should look to Yahoo support for answers:
    http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/mac/index.html
Of since you're friends are the ones who receive the error message, perhaps they should upgrade their messenger.

  • Yahoo Messenger Beta 3 126432 won't run......

I am posting this here, because the people on Yahoo Answers are not helpful at all. And Yahoo tech support is just as bad. I use Yahoo Messenger 3 Beta & everything will fine with it for a few days. Then I go to open it & it just bounces the dock icon & never runs. It won't force quit (I force quit the program & then when I go to check force quit again, it has reappeared). I have never had a program do this - ever. A program should never restart itself after being force quit. In fact, the only way to get it to stop is to force quit it, restart the finder, force quit the program again, then log out. It is extremely annoying. Does anyone know of a way to completely shut down a program that refuses to force quit?? I even go so far as to delete all related files (plist, preferences, cache) & then delete the program itself. I will then reinstall it & the problem will persist. My system has no permissions errors & everything else runs flawlessly. Also, does anyone know why Yahoo programmers are too lazy to fix this issue (I am not the only one having this problem)?? If anyone has any ideas about this one, your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know of a way to completely shut down a program that refuses to force quit??
Shut down the computer & then boot right back up or just restart.
Also, does anyone know why Yahoo programmers are too lazy to fix this issue
They are not lazy. You must realize that when you download and install Beta software, you are going to have problems and experience all the bugs that go with it because the product is being tested by you the guinea pig.
Beta software is not finished and is known to have bugs, perhaps even serious ones.
Since you are having issues with it, you might as well uninstall the Beta version & revert back to the trouble free previous version.

  • Cannot read messages in yahoo messenger, yet my contact can read my messages on their messenger

When I open Yahoo Messenger, I put in my message and hit send. The message does not show on my page, but does show on the page of who I am sending message to. The only way I know I am getting a message from someone, it shows on the lower right side of my page, however the message page does open with no message.

I am unable to view other users webcams in Yahoo
Messenger 3.0, although others can view my webcam.
When I click on the "view my webcam" I hear the tone
but that's all. I am unable to receive an invite
from a contact to view their webcam. I have an iMac
with Intel processor using OSX10.4.7, and no
    firewalls.

I too am having the same problem with my Powermac G5. I can hear the whistle that invites me but nowhere can I find a picture nor is there a invitation for me to click in. When I click View my Cam, I get the same results. I am also using Yahoo Messenger beta 3.0.

  • Yahoo messenger 3.0 beta crash

Yahoo Messenger 3.0 beta is generally a great improvement, but I have had a couple of bad crashes when using webcam. Viewing webcam is fine (which has not been the case for some time--it has been dysfunctional for quite a while, and it seems that this problem has been quite widespread for Apple users), and when I start my own webcam there seems to be no problem at first, but problems occur after that--I have had one total system freeze (something that hasn't happend since OS 9) and one kernel panic (message telling me to restart the computer).
The freeze (and several less serious application crashes) happened with OS 10.4.6, the kernel panic with 10.4.7, so the problem is definitely with the Yahoo software, not an upgrade issue.
    Any similar experiences or solutions?

    Hi, Larry.
All I can suggest is that you report the problem to Yahoo. Beta code means that the developers know they've not worked out all the bugs and hope users will play "Test Pilot."
    Good luck!

  • Yahoo messenger 3 beta with web cam support

    http://messenger.yahoo.com/
    Tony

Ever since I downloaded Yahoo Messenger 3.0, I have not been able to view other user's webcams.
II am using a USB cam.
PC users are able to view my webcam no problem, but I can't seem to view theirs. When they send me a cam invite, I never receive the invite. If I click on the "View My Webcam" under their names on the buddylist, nothing happens.
There doesn't seem to be an option in the menu anymore to view their cam either.
How in the heck do I open their cams?

  • Prompted to install Yahoo Messenger upon restart even though already installed

I have Yahoo Messenger (3.0.1 beta) installed on my MacBook Air (Lion OS X 10.7.2). It is working fine, however every time I restart my computer and access the Flash Drive (Go - Computer) or the Applications Folder (Go - Applications) I'm prompted to install Yahoo again. I get a Yahoo Messenger installation dialog box asking me to install it. The only way to get rid of this dialog box is to accept the Yahoo agreement and go to the next step for installation - dragging the Yahoo icon into the applications folder. At this stage I can either drag the icon and replace the current one, or just close the drag dialog window. Either way my Yahoo Messenger works fine. If I click the "decline" button the installation dialog box just reappears until I click the "accept" button.
I like to have Yahoo Messenger installed because it allows me to chat with 2 different Yahoo ID's simultaneously - one in iChat and one in Yahoo Messenger.
I contacted Yahoo, but was give this info:
"As of November 15, 2011 Yahoo! Customer Care will no longer provide agent support for Yahoo! Messenger for Mac. If you continue to use this product and have questions or concerns about it, please use the self-service help pages".
This is a brand new computer (and my very first Mac) and Yahoo Messenger was the very first program I installed. Despite the annoyance upon restart I can use both programs (iChat and Yahoo Messenger) together without problems.
I have tried removing all traces of the Yahoo Messenger program using "Appcleaner" and downloaded it again and reinstalled it from scratch, but to no avail.
I would really appreciate some help with this problem.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Ok so the Internal "Drive" on your Mac is a Solid State one ?
You say you put an Shortcut/Alias of it on the Desktop.
Was this by going to the Finder's Own Menu > Preferences > General section and ticking the Box to Show Hard Drives/Disks ?
If I "Open" (double Click) an .dmg to Install something I get an icon on the Desktop that looks like  Drive icon (Similar to the USB stick ones) AND I get the item listed as  a "Device"  (in this case GoogleEarth)
I tend to Drag these to the trash when Finished with them as it "Unmounts"/"ejects" the item.  (I used the quotes to show it is a similar action to removing a USB Drive - obviously a CD or DVD would also pop out of the Optical Drive)
Based on the way you describe using the Finder > Go Menu > Computer It get this view
As I Unmount mine I can't really say what happens if I shut the computer down.
As technically it is a Window (the OS sees icons on the Desktop as windows) then I can imagine Lion is Opening it up again if it was there at Shutdown.  (See Message at Shutdown about restating open Windows on next boot and also the System Preferences > General Section).
I will try shutting down and will post after I have done that

  • Help! iChat for Mac OS X Lion! Yahoo Messenger!

So today i just got Mac OS X Lion on Mac App Store, I just install it, a FRESH install, and i tried to contact my friend with iChat. I heard that iChat now supported Yahoo Messenger! So i log on my account, work perfect with Text chatting, but when i tried to Video Call chatting, it's said: "Yahoo! is not supported video calls."
    Plz help me!!!

    Hi,
    iChat and Audio.
This has always been set by the System > Preferences > Sound > Input as far as the volumes you Buddies hear you.  (Rather you turning this up has greater effect than them turning up their master volume)
This for a long time presumed there was only the Internal Mic or Line in on most Macs. (And that you weren't using Line-in despite showing both choices in the iChat Mic Drop down in iChat Preferences > Video Section)
Later this became an issue for Headsets particularly Blue Tooth ones.
These require that you set the System Preferences choice and volume first before then choosing them in iChat.
(If already set change both choices to something else.
    Close iChat
Set the System Preferences choice to the Blue Tooth or Headset.
Now open iChat and set the choice there.)
In all cases since iChat 4 it has been possible to set the Volume level for a device (mic) in System Preferences and that it does not change you can use that selection in iChat but change the choice in system Preferences for other input/app combos.  (i.e. once the volume is set for the device iChat uses the choice/headline device in System Preferences can be changedready for other apps)
I have never tested the Yahoo Beta in any build or sub version number for Audio Chats before today.
I tested between my G4/1Ghz Dual Processor running Leopard and my MacBook Pro running Snow Leoaprd.
Yahoo is allowed thogh both Mac Firewalls and the Modem/router combined device is doing UPnP.
Despite checking my Mic Settings in System Preferences on the G4 the Audio level seemed somehow to get turned down.
It stayed in the "right" place after I checked again.
Strangely the G4's older Yahoo Version 3.0.0 can Initiate an Audio Chat but the option is greyed out on the current Yahoo Version 3.0.1 that the MacBook Pro is running.
I will do some more digging.
However it would seem in your case that the Mic choice and Volume level would be the palce to start as it effects both apps.

  • Yahoo Messenger for Mac

Why does photosharing and file transfer not work for Yahoo Messenger for Mac?

Hi, tvpappy. On the Yahoo Messenger homepage, it's noted that v. 3.0 Beta requires at least os X 10.4. If you're still running 10.3.x (as the System Info below your post indicates), then that's why YM 3.0 Beta doesn't run on your machine.

  • ISIGHT for Yahoo Messenger

    Hi Everyone,
Does the iSight web camera supporting to yahoo messenger in windows operating system? Thanks in advance.
    Sri.

If you search in the iSight forums on Apple support you'll get better info.
iSight on iChat = both video and sound work fine. If you are talking to a person on PC, then both video and sound will only work if they are using the latest AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) on Windows.
iSight on OSX Yahoo IM = only video works - there's no sound options in the OSX Yahoo IM preferences so they didn't even code that in.
iSight on Windows Yahoo IM = only video works. No one has coded a driver that works with the firewire microphone part of the iSight yet.

  • How do I get my WEBCAM to work with YAHOO Messenger!!??

Someone please help. I have been trying for ages to get a webcam to work on Yahoo messenger but to no avail. I recently purchased a new webcam that stated it was usable with MAC OSX.
Still Yahoo does not seem to give me any option to broadcast my webcam. I was using Yahoo 2.5 before and I just downloaded and started to use Yahoo 3.0......still nothing. All outgoing webcam options are grayed out" on any of the yahoo messenger menues.
I used to go in the chatrooms on yahoo and be able to view and be viewed on webcam. Now that I switched to an ibook with OSX...I CAN DO NONE OF THAT anymore and there seems to be no workable solutions in sight ( I searched all the yahoo databanks as well as Mac discussion archives).
The cam seems to work on AIM but nothing on Yahoo messenger
Please, one of you mac geniuses come to my rescue
Additional info: I'm on an ibook G4 (2004), operating system OSX 10.3.9; processor speed - 1.2 Ghz PowerPC; 1.25 GB Ram

  • Yahoo messenger

Ok, this problem has the gotten the better of me and I have been in computers as a consultant for 15 years. Need some help....new to Macs though,
Verizon DSL with Actiontel 704-wg dsl wireless gateway.
I have two computers, one XP Pro - yahoo messenger works perfectly.
On my Macbook, Y-IM doesn't work and yet it is going through the same firewall the XP machine uses. I have tried to open Yahoo TCP ports specifically for the macbook - no good. I have tried disabling the Macbook firewall. I have tried opening specific ports in the macbook firewall as well, both dont work. I opened 5000-5010, 5061, 5050.
If I set Y-IM Mac to "proxy" I can get in but I tested it and found that what I type in Yahoo on my XP box takes at least 3-4 mins to show up on Yahoo IM Mac version.
This s driving me nuts. I have reinstalled, upgraded Yahoo IM, Downgraded it, turned firewalls off, connected via hardwire and wireless - all the same result. I have deleted plist, etc etc etc.
This SEEMS to have started happening after or around the same time that I downloaded Safari beta.
    Any help would be appreciated
    RIch

Thanks for all the replies. I put an smc firewall in place between the IBM and the dsl router and bmped up the security to prevent issues with hackers hijacking smtp that I noticed in my smtp logs. I then connected my macbook via the wireless network that is not on the same segment as the smc firewall. I lowered security on the dsl router and I am now able to get back in to Y-IM. I then enabled the Mac firewall in hopes that is enough to keep my mac secure wth such low dsl firewall settings.
It's a round about way to do things, but it now works on both platforms.
To the reply that I expect Y-IM to work the same on both platforms"...no, not really, but having it at least WORK on the mac would help in the comparison.
