Yahoo Messenger previous version

Anyone have the v2.5.85?
This is related to the Yahoo messenger username/password error. I have 2 friends who are on v2.5.85 and they can both still login. I have the v2.5.108 so I thought the problem is with this version (I already tried reinstalling the app, change password, and nothing works).
Hope someone could help. It's been a month already and seems that they have no intention of fixing this version anytime soon.

i've been having problem downloading yahoo messenger beta or even adium. can't seem to figure out why so I was hoping someone here would know if its connected to Safari.

Hmm, uninstalling it should have rectified things. Did you also try rebooting after running the uninstall process?
If you did, do you have anything in the following folders:
Hard drive > Users > Your Username > Library > InputManagers
Hard drive > Users > Your Username > Library > Application Support > SIMBL
Hard drive > Library > InputManagers
Hard drive > Library > Application Support > SIMBL
Those folders may not exist, so it's not a problem if you can't find them. If you do find them, drag the contents of those folders onto your Desktop, completely quit Safari (Safari menu > Quit) and then relaunch Safari and try another download.

Yahoo Messenger WAP version

Yahoo has Instant Messenger available as a WAP application:

It seems to work "OK", here are the details:
1. You get access to your full existing messenger list after you sign in.
2. Since it's a WAP site, it's almost all text and loads quick.
3. Sending is easy, select a name from your friends list, it brings up a new page with a simple entry box and a Send button. If that friend has a custom photo, it will show really tiny in the upper-right of the screen.
4. Receiving is not so easy. It's a WAP web page, so you aren't automatically notified of incoming IMs. You have to "Check messages" (click a link on the conversation page you are on) to see the most recent message(s), nothing reloads automatically. You basically have to keep manually refreshing to see if a new IM was sent by the person you are IMing with.
5. Your outgoing messages are in black text, the incoming IMs from your friend are in blue text.
6. There is a limited history of the last 3 or 4 IMs to/from that person that display on the page, if either of you is typing ahead too fast, you might have an unread IM scroll off the screen. I can't yet find a way to see those scrolled-off messages.
7. oh yeah, since you are likely typing slower than your friend, you will have to teach them to slow down and do one response at a time per direction so you can keep up with them.
So it's not perfect, it does give the ability to fire off a quick IM to someone and get a few short replies. Since you have to manually refresh, it's not ideal for making yourself available throughout the day, although you can have a customized mobile status showing.
I never could get Meebo working the other night, so I can't compare Yahoo's simple WAP IM site to Meebo.

Right, I agree with what you are saying, just making a general report for those who haven't seen this yet. It's certainly a half-baked solution for the moment, wouldn't be ideal for the quick meet-up type messages that SMS is made for (too noisy to call, etc). Also won't work for extended conversations, it was hard to keep up with the speed demon I was IMing with.
Again, just barely OK for the occasional quick short IM to dash off to someone that might not immediately need a reply. At least there is a temporary solution. I too will be thrilled with a native Yahoo IM or iChat iPhone application complete with popups for incoming messages, just like the SMS does.

Making calls with Yahoo Messenger App.

I have the Yahoo Messenger both on my laptop (HP) and my IPad. The thing is I can't make phone calls through the Messenger with my IPad but it works well with the messenger on my PC? On the Ipad I got the following error message: PSTN calls not available.
What should I do to fix it?

The Yahoo Messenger app version 2.2.6 worked fine. When I upgraded to 2.2.7, the dialing feature seems to have been removed. I'd have to guess it looks intentional, because they changed the button from a phone icon to a notepad icon. The old button brough up the dial pad. The new one brings up a log of calls. I hope though that they didn't intend to remove this feature and will fix it and put it back in the next release. Is there any comment from the developer? I have searched online and didn't find anything.

Previous Version of Yahoo Messenger (before 2.5)

Hi, can anyone tell me where to download the previous version of yaho messenger? I have several issue with the latest yahoo messenger (2.5.32 and all other 2.5 version) on my 8820. I keep got disconnected and when I reconnect, the conversation group is empty.

After I downloaded the new version of Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.262, I can't seem to play games with my friends on Yahoo Messenger.

It could be a coincidence but when I upgraded to the latest version of Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.262 I can't seem to play any games on Yahoo Messenger with my friends. I know when I updated for some reason I had to try 3 times before it took it. It shows it's updated. I'm wondering if I have to un-install and re-install it. Also, I never use Internet Explorer 8 but when I went in there to check I found a plug in check link there and it showed over there that Adobe Flash Player needed updating but it was an older version and not the one Foxfire had me update too. Now I'm really confused if this is causing a problem. I have never had to check Internet Explorer for plug ins before. Have always just updated in Foxfire since that's what I use. The Adobe Flash Player seems to play videos okay so not really sure if that's the issue or not. My Java plug-ins have been fine and have been updated awhile ago, so I know it's not that. Well, after hours of trying to figure it out I gave up and un-installed and re-installed that last verion of Adobe Flash Player and now it seems I can play games again in Messenger. Everything else had been fine just that. I can only figure it was because it was having a hard time updating the first time and took me 3 tries. So even though it said it was installed, apparently it wasn't done correctly.
Though when I couldn't figure out what was wrong at first I looked and checked to see all the things were enabled that were supposed to be and they were.
I even tried to go to the Adobe site and download the last version I had and couldn't find it. Kept coming up with the new version. Others said if you download a particular older version it may not have all the security features in it.
This really gets to be a bit much, especially when you're by yourself and have only a smattering of knowledge of technical things.

Yahoo messenger on mac version

i just wanna know how to run a mac version of yahoo messenger. im a new user of mac thats why i dont know how to run ym using mac. i already downloaded mac version of yahoo and i can sign in as my yahoo id, but the problem is i cannot make a call, play a games, share a photo and even my cam cannot be viewed and i also cant view the cam of my chatmate. there are many features of yahoo messenger in windows version that mac version doesnt have. i also cannot connect to a chat room. do i really need to install a parallel desktop for me to run the yahoo messenger smoothly.
hope some one who knows how to use mac help me about this issue.

I just tested Messenger for Mac, which I just downloaded because of your question. I had no problem getting my recently bought Macbook laptop with Leopard to engage and send a webcam picture to a Yahoo messenger account using Windows XP yahoo messenger on the other account's computer. I did not test all the features, just typing an IM and sending a webcam picture from my built in laptop webcam on this Macbook over to a computer with Windows XP. All I had to do after installing and logging in was go to WEBCAM / Start Broadcast etc. It worked fine.
I used the Mac Leopard OS on the Macbook and do not yet have windows added to my macbook but am thinking about how to get it because of the need to occasionally use Internet Explorer on certain websites.

As stated earlier even though when I have an incoming message I hear the "Beep" Firefox does not open the dialogue window as it used to do.
Also I am not able to open a new dialogue window or tab by clicking on an online contact of mine.

Why no Ipad versions of Skype or Yahoo messenger yet?

I am really surprised that native iPad versions of skype and yahoo messenger haven't come out yet. I'm beginning to think that it has something to do with ATT? It just doesn't make sense that those companies would not release versions by now.
The iPhone versions suck on the iPad. Plus the iPhone version of yahoo messenger doesn't even come with voice in or out. I use yahoo voice to make calls on my iMac all the time. Kinda blows I can't do so on my iPad yet.
What gives? Anyone know? Why the delay?

This is really a user to user forum for Apple products. I don't think anyone here is an expert on non-Apple apps. Furthermore, if you need to complain, why aren't you doing it at forums focused on the two products you're discussing.
That being said, Skype's app does work on the iPad, though not well. It doesn't work over 3G (or at least not well). And it can't work in the background, because iOS 4 is not available for the iPad.
The iPad makes a pretty bad iPhone, to be honest. It's huge. And when you're using Skype, you can't do anything else. Reading several comments by Skype from way back in April, it appears that they are not working on an iPad version at this time. Who knows what they're doing when iOS 4 shows up.
But you really need to take your complaints to Yahoo and Skype.

Voice chat in Yahoo Messenger beta 2 version for Mac

I downloaded Yahoo Messenger beta 2 version. I am not able to voice chat with friends like I used to do in a windows PC. My friends say they get an error message while attempting for voice chat. error message that version is different. Could someone please identify the problem and suggest a solution.

Of since you're friends are the ones who receive the error message, perhaps they should upgrade their messenger.

Clsing Firfox 4.- for Yahoo does not save tabs on close like previous versions. Your help says settings but does not tell me what setting...

In all the previous versions of Firefox, when I close Firefox, I was asked if I wanted to save my tabs. The latest version is not allowing that option. Why not and what setting will bring this function back. I should not have to pull down the History menu and request Previous Session, I should be able to start with my previous session if I exit and not close the tabs.
Upgrades should increase functionality and NOT completely change the look and feel of the program.

Firefox version 9.0.1 won't open yahoo messenger options in yahoo mail.

Seems there is a problem with yahoo messenger from inside yahoo mail. When I double clicked on one of my contacts the window didn't open. Then I would have to go into messenger options and change small window to tab. Then the tabs would appear. I could go back into options and change back to small window from tab and the small window would appear.
Lately I can't get messenger options to even open. Is this a bug with 9.0.1. I am using Ubuntu 10.10.

Yahoo Messenger Beta 3 126432 won't run......

I am posting this here, because the people on Yahoo Answers are not helpful at all. And Yahoo tech support is just as bad. I use Yahoo Messenger 3 Beta & everything will fine with it for a few days. Then I go to open it & it just bounces the dock icon & never runs. It won't force quit (I force quit the program & then when I go to check force quit again, it has reappeared). I have never had a program do this - ever. A program should never restart itself after being force quit. In fact, the only way to get it to stop is to force quit it, restart the finder, force quit the program again, then log out. It is extremely annoying. Does anyone know of a way to completely shut down a program that refuses to force quit?? I even go so far as to delete all related files (plist, preferences, cache) & then delete the program itself. I will then reinstall it & the problem will persist. My system has no permissions errors & everything else runs flawlessly. Also, does anyone know why Yahoo programmers are too lazy to fix this issue (I am not the only one having this problem)?? If anyone has any ideas about this one, your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

They are not lazy. You must realize that when you download and install Beta software, you are going to have problems and experience all the bugs that go with it because the product is being tested by you the guinea pig.
Beta software is not finished and is known to have bugs, perhaps even serious ones.
Since you are having issues with it, you might as well uninstall the Beta version & revert back to the trouble free previous version.
