Yahoo pop mail settings

Ever since Verizon linked my email to yahoo, I've had trouble.  Now, in the past few days, I cannot access my Verizon pop mail account which is attached to my Verzion ID.  I've written dozens of comments to both yahoo and Verizon and no replies.    I CAN access my yahoo account vis Web interface.    Any thoughts on this?

  • Yahoo POP Mail just stopped working in 10.6.7

I have three Macs, two of which run 10.6.7 and one that runs 10.5.8. They are not networked together. This afternoon we had a storm and my big computer (iMac 27") was unable to retrieve my Yahoo POP mail. It has no problem retrieving mail from a BellSouth account and it can send fine on either account. So I tried the laptop that runs 10.5.8 and it downloads my Yahoo mail fine. I tried my other laptop that runs 10.6.7 and nope, it can't retrieve my Yahoo mail.
All of the Mail settings are exactly the same. I have no idea what to try next. Suggestions?
    --Katie

Just curious - has anyone taken this to Yahoo?  Not sure if this will get solved by a bunch of us discussing on an Apple board.  Yahoo's mode of operation in the past has been deny, deny, deny and then mysteriously, the problem gets solved without ever a mention of root cause and what they did to fix it.  My recommendation is to not burn wasted time by deleting accounts in Mac mail and then re-inoutting the settings.  This appears to have nothing to do with Mac mail and everything to do with Yahoo POP mail authentification.  I can get to Yahoo mail using only my browser since this does not require a handshake between Yahoo servers and my desktop MAC software.  Thus, it tells me there is a disconnect and the blame clearly lies with Yahoo since nothing on our MACs have changed and we are all experiencing the same problem.  Let's see if they get over their denial and mysteriously fix the problem while we sleep.  My bet is that things will work find in the morning and none of us will be credited back the $.50 for being down for a full day.  Too bad the Yahoo Mail Plus agreement doesn't come with an SLA.

  • Here's how to set up Yahoo POP mail with instant "PUSH" functionality

Originally I used iTunes to sync and dump my POP mail settings into the iPhone during my first sync after activation.
DON'T do it this way and if you did delete that account from the iPhone and then go into the Mail settings on the iPhone and set up the mail settings under the "Add Account" feature. The top selection is Yahoo. It will simply ask you for the mail username and password. Once you complete this you will now have the greatly useful and most desired instan "PUSH" mail promised in conjunction with AT&T, Yahoo and Apple. A great thing.
All other POP mail settings are set to simply check your email every 15, 30, 45 etc minutes. This is no fun.
Once I reset the iPhone and set up the new account email is instant and you get the beloved "bing" alert as the come in.

I was able to get this to work and push email works with my Yahoo account. Unfortunately, the iPhone mail does not respect the 'reply-to' setting for yahoo mail.
When I send mail from Yahoo mail on the web, the reply-to address makes it look like the mail is coming from my standard business account.
But when I send mail from my iPhone, the "@yahoo.com" email address is all that shows up in the outgoing message!
I don't like this because I would prefer that all the email I send has the same reply-to address, so my recipients don't get confused.
Is there a workaround or fix for this?

  • Since installing Firefox I cannot send Yahoo pop mail from my Outlook

I have always used Outlook for my yahoo mail under the normal POP3 set up. For many months I have been using Outlook 2010 for my yahoo mail in this way. I just installed a Slingbox and Firefox to make that work. Now my Outgoing yahoo pop mail won't work yet my inbound does. All the SMTP settings are as prescribed by yahoo when trying manual set up, and Outlook 2010 cannot set up automatically either (as it was previously able to do). All advice gratefully received.

Try deleting and readding the account. Yahoo has been having issues for weeks. Sometimes it's them. Sometimes with the iOS6 upgrade you need to reenter account info.
Another workaround can be to access yahoo via safari and access your mail that way until it works out.

  • E72 yahoo pop mail not synchronising new mails

    hi guyz
thanx for yo help i managed to set up my e72 yahoo pop mail. However, it only loaded mails the time i set the pop, after that it never synchronised any new mail. Sending mails and replying is working perfect except loading new mails. Last time i deleted the setup and restarted, but the problem still exists. All settings in the inbox seem to be fine but still new mails wont load!

Have you checked if there is an update for your Email client on the phone? You can check Nokia Suite if there is an available update for your device. If there is none, you can reinstall the software. If you continue to experience the same issue, you can do reformat the device. Make sure that you have a backup file before doing the reset as it will delete all the data on the phone. Check this link for the codes:

  • Mail won't send/ download with BT yahoo pop mail account, constantly asks for password... any solutions?

I have a problem with Mail at the moment - it wont log into / send with a BT yahoo pop account.  Hours of uninstalling and reinstalling/ checking it hasnt changed servers etc... any ideas ?  This is a recurrent but intermittent issue.  Thanks!

Replying to my own post. The problem was in the Mail.app Preferences file (com.apple.mail.plist). It had become corrupted. I compared this file with a recent backup and discovered an inconsistency. I quit Mail, deleted the problem (two) lines from com.apple.mail.plist, restarted Mail and all was well. Used BBEdit to so this. Simply deleting com.apple.mail.plist and reentering all server info, etc. in Mail would also have done the trick—though with additional work.

  • BT Email POP Server Settings

I don't know if this is readily available elsewhere, but when I was having trouble getting mail to work on my iPad recently, a helpful Sage (Keith_Beddoe) in our community her gave me these settings which worked very well for me. Presumably of use to anyone wishing to use a POP email client on any platform.
    BT Internet POP Mail Settings
    POP3
    Server: mail.btinternet.com
Port: 995 (this should be automatically populated if you tick SSL Encryption)
SSL Encryption: Enabled (but not STARTTLS)
Username: your email address including the @btinternet or @btopenworld.com part
    Password: your btinternet password
POP from folder: By default, POP will pull emails from your Inbox
    SMTP
    Outgoing Mail Server: mail.btinternet.com
Port: 465 (this may not be automatically populated on selection of SSL, so you'll need to check this)
SSL Encryption: Enabled (but not STARTTLS)
    Authentication: PLAIN
Username: your email address including the @btinternet or @btopenworld.com part
    Password: your btinternet password
Hope this helps someone else. The Ed Port settings are different from those given in some of BT's help pages but they definitely work for me on send and receive. Good luck !

They are on the BT Website: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/44917
You have to dig into the help pages under "BT Mail".
    Oliver.

  • POP Mail Delay

I have a Yahoo POP mail account. It is only synching with my Bold every 6 hours. At midnight, all the prior 6 hour messags come in. At 6 AM, all the overnight messages come in. Then, in the early afternoon, a bunch more come in. How can I get that polling to 15 minutes or so?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

There are no BIS delays today that I have heard of...
I would suggest on your BB you do this:
Options > Advanced > Service Books. Delete ANY (usually two) service books in regard to that email address.
Remove the battery and reboot the device.
Resend your service books from your carrier BIS site.

You may need to reboot the BB once again.

  • Does iPhone Yahoo! Mail use ssl?

Does Yahoo! Mail settings in iPhone use SSL? The default Yahoo! Mail settings seems not available to the users(no server location or port or ssl information visible). For Gmail, you can actually see all the configuration you pick.
Given the fact that even the official yahoo mail web site does not support https, i am wondering if such thing also available in iPhone yahoo mail?
(otherwise, checking yahoo mail on iphone on a public wifi network seems bit scary)

If you add the Yahoo Mail account in iOS 4.2.1 it appears to use SSL based on the TCP ports that are being used. Yahoo Mail accounts added under older iOS versions will not use SSL.

  • (Mac Mail) How to obtain Yahoo! Mail when: You're inbox dissapears or does not show after all settings seem perfectly in place.

    Hello everyone!
Note**: I am in no way attempting to illustrate how to get FREE email listing from Yahoo! Mail, I am only reciting what I have stumbled upon. I do not know if Yahoo! actually wants this to work in Mail. but it does, so if they didn't want it to work they will patch it or something. I recommend that you take advantage of their paid service(annual) which allows POP forwarding of emails quickly and withou any need for reconfiguration.
I hope this "fix" is not being rementioned or creates redundancy, however after hours of searching all sorts of foums(including the Apple forums ofcourse) I was unable to find a true fix. Simply put, I just got a brand new Macbook Air 13'' for Christmas 2011. I also bought a Macbook Pro 15'' back in late 2010. I was never able to get Yahoo! Mail configured even through methods of IMAP rather than POP or POP3. Oddly enough, on my Macbook Air and Pro, now, when I try to redo the Yahoo! settings, my Inbox would display messages for a matter of seconds and then the messages would dissapear. However, there was still a number next to my Yahoo! e-mail, accurately indicating how many unread messages I had. I fixed it like so:
    1) Go to www.yahoo.com-- Configure Yahoo! account via account settings to work off of IMAP rather than POP Forwarding. Do so by going into account options on the top right or left hand of your screen and clicking through the forwarding options until you see IMAP. Make sure you save your new settings! This is very simple and I feel requires no further explanation. If you become confused, let me know and I will go into detail then.
    2) Once your Yahoo! Mail account is IMAP simply go into the Mail application on OSX (Mac). On the top bar of the Mail pane click on the "Mail" option in between the Apple sign and File.  Then, Click on Preferences from that dropdown pane. When this window appears, Click on the "@" symbol that says "Accounts" right under it. This is in between General and RSS options. Under the left-hand list that says "Accounts", click on the "+" sign as opposed to the "-" sign you will see there. This will allow you to setup an account or additional accounts. A window then will appear with options:
    3) ****Make sure you ARE connected to the internet wirelessly or via ethernet for this part!****
---------- Full Name: (Enter Full Name Here)
---------- Email Address: (Type in full email address, e.g.: [email protected])
---------- Password: (Type in your password to your email account, this IS CASE SENSITIVE.)
    4) Now! Listen! (lol), hit create and let the mac show you the settings it has pinged back from the Yahoo! mail server. It should illustrate that your e-mail is an IMAP based email address etc. As long as the account is created with the IMAP configuration and Mail reads it as so, you have succeeded thus far.
    5) Critial Step here: Go into the Mail application on OSX (Mac). On the top bar of the Mail pane click on the "Mail" option in between the Apple sign and File.  Then, Click on Preferences from that dropdown pane. When this window appears, Click on the "@" symbol that says "Accounts" right under it. This is in between General and RSS options. Under the left-hand list that says "Accounts", click on the Yahoo! IMAP account. Close to the top of that page between the different Mail options and the account settings you will see three different bar pages: a) Account Information, b) Mailbox Behaviors and c) Advanced.
    6) Click on the Advanced tab. Do not touch anything on this page, except, IMAP Path Prefix. This is located in the middle of the Advanced page screen right above Port, where you will see |Port:   993   (Box IS checked for: USE SSL). In that IMAP Patch Prefix type the name of your Inbox(I say this because some people rename it in Yahoo!). Mine is simply "Inbox" so my configuration in Mail looks like so: | Imap Path Prefix:  Inbox |. After this, click on "General" or attempt to close the Mail options window and it will as you to save the new setting. Ofcourse, hit yes and click the Get Mail envelope and you will see your Inbox populate, assuming you have new mail.
What this means: Test your OUTGOING mail server by sending yourself an e-mail either from your Yahoo! Mail or from another email. Thus, this will allow you tot est your INCOMING email as was now reconfigured to IMAP by seeing if you actually receive the email.
Reason for doing so in this sequence: By letting Mail create the account it will properly import all of your mail folders you have in your Yahoo! Mail account. Obviously, your Inbox and Outbox as well as Sent and Trash folders will import but I have additional folders, for example, that also imported for putting financials or receipts into different folders for organization. Once these are populated naturally, by changing the IMAP Path Prefix you're telling the Mail application where to send your new emails. Atleast this is my understanding of it.
Unfortuntely, I am not an officially educated 'techie", however, I have been fiddling with computers over the last 20 years and have been training myself to become Apple expert, seing as I have decided to completely convert to Apple products. Apple is just reliable. This, to me, is priceless. I truly hope I have helped you and that I have saved hours of Youtube video watching as well as forum searching for many. Should you have any questions, FEEL FREE to ask! I love helping others, hense why I have made this post(my first Apple post). Happy Holidays everyone and enjoy!

What Mac Mail did was delete ALL inbox messages from my yahoo account, after one week from importing them to Mac Mail.
The Yahoo server did exactly what you Mail program told it to do.
Mail/Preferences/Account/Advanced - This setting is adjustable for each mail account.
I didn't know about this feature until it was too late. I have already unchecked it for future emails.
I was wondering if there is a way to retrieve these deleted messages back to my yahoo inbox.
Not Really, you could forward them to your account, after you've told your mail program not to delete the emails at all, but they will show up as being from you instead of the original sender. The originals at Yahoo have been dumped and probably purged. It would take an IT manager at Yahoo to manually replace the emails, not much chance of that.
I've already asked yahoo to "restore" my inbox to a day ago. That should help me with retrieving some of the messages back, I hope.
Also, I was wondering about the sync feature on the Mac Mail and what will actually happen if I use it. Does it apply to mail messages, or to address book and calendar entries?
The sync feature refers to IMAP email accounts like .Mac or .Me or an Imap gmail account. I didn't think Yahoo offered IMAP email accounts.
Apple's MobileMe membership will let you sync your Mail, AddressBook, Calender, personal website with iWeb, etc.
"MobileMe is a service that pushes new email, contacts, and calendar events over the air to all your devices. So your iPhone, Mac, and PC stay in perfect sync."
    http://www.apple.com/mobileme/
I wanted to use Mac Mail, see if I liked it or not, then decide to get a MobileMe account. However, this is still a side note, since my yahoo account is my main email client.
You seem to be very well informed, and I was wondering if I can ask you to clarify a point for me. Do you know how to archive the inbox in the Mac Mail?
And thank you for answering my queries.

  • Mail + Yahoo POP

Over the past several weeks I am no longer able to use Mail (ver 2.0.7) with my Yahoo POP account. I use the premium Yahoo service, so I am able to use email clients. In fact everything was working fine for many months. But now I am receiving server timeout errors.
Unfortunately, Yahoo does not support Apple's Mail application, so there is no info on setup on the Yahoo site.
The problem cropped up suddenly, so something must have changed, either on the Yahoo side, or perhaps with my ISP (Comcast).
I've reviewed the earlier threads on the topic, but I don't see that anyone has resolved the issue successfully.
    Any suggestions?
    iMac Mac OS X (10.4.6)

HI there. I've been trying to follow the discussion at hand regarding trouble sending mail. If I understand it right, your IP is Earthlink and you have a Yahoo biz account so Yahoo handles your incoming mail with their mail server. If that is so, then you do have to use Earthlink's outgoing (smtp) mail server to send messages, regardless of what Yahoo says about it. If you were on Pacbell/SBC/ATT DSL service, it would not be the case, since they partner with Yahoo to provide their service. As a general rule, you have to use the OUTGOING mail server for the network you are using. So, if you travel, for example, and you get a room in a hotel that has broadband available, you have to find out what the IP is and what the SMTP server address is for that IP. Once you setup those settings in Mail, you can send mail from that location. The reason that your mail doesn't get through to Yahoo is that you are out of network. It could really be ANY foreign IP, not just Earthllink. Most of the IPs out there refuse their own users' outgoing mail attempts when they are out of network because of concerns about spammers.
The 'how to send mail from remote locations' issue is a pain. The best solution I've found is a service called authsmtp.com. You use THEIR outgoing server from ANYWHERE and your mail always gets out. VERY cool if you travel. They charge for the convenience, but the cost is minimal.

  • AT&T Yahoo e-mail issues on iPhone: POP vs. IMAP

So, I'm having the same two problems mentioned in other threads here regarding Yahoo! mail and iPhone, but I've got a third issue/observation, and I'm wondering if it's a partial cause of the problem.
First, a recap: Yahoo! mail (or, in my case, AT&T Yahoo! mail, which is the fully featured version that comes with my DSL account) does not push e-mails as it should and may randomly delete e-mail (though I'm not positive that's happened to me...)
Now, the new wrinkle: My e-mail at home is set up to use Yahoo's POP3 servers. I use Eudora rather than Mail.app, so I didn't synch the iPhone to the account (not possible): Instead, I created a new account on the iPhone and entered the relevant information. Once I had tapped Y! Mail, there was no option to choose between POP3 and IMAP, and now my phone thinks it's accessing an IMAP account, which it is not.
Could this be the source of the problem?

That doesn't help, really. I understand the difference between POP and IMAP, and I've chosen to use POP. The question is: What are the consequences of the fact that the iPhone forces me to use IMAP to access an account that both my desktop computer and my ISP believe to be a POP account?
Note, moreover, that the first link you provided indicates that the server to use with an account like mine is "pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com," so Apple too believes that it is a POP account. (That's not actually true: it should be pop.att.yahoo.com; pop.sbcglobal... is an outdated name, but that's not important right now. Or is it?)
But the iPhone automatically treats any e-mail account set up as a Y! Mail account as IMAP, and I can see no option to change that anywhere in Settings, once you've specified a Y! Mail account. Is the fix simply to set up a new account, choose "Other" rather than "Y! Mail," and configure it properly?

  • Yahoo pop incoming server failure on Mail

Hello all. I use Mail to manage my three email accounts via POP - Yahoo, Gmail and work. For the past 72 hours I've been unable to receive Yahoo mail. The outgoing server works fine, but the incoming server fails. Is anyone else having this problem? I've tried all the usual troubleshooting stuff. There is nothing on the Yahoo site to indicate a problem. (This came out of the blue; I've been receiving mail this way sucessfully for years. I didn't make any changes to settings prior to this happening.)

    Hi,
I can confirm this is not a Apple issue as I cannot connect to the yahoo POP3 server from my Mac Mail  or thunderbird and outlook on my windows PC.  Seems to be a yahoo pop server issue.  Very annoying and yahoo have been no help whatsoever.
Re: Just fixed it, it seems that the Pop server has been changed to pop.yahoo.mail.com   from .co.uk
    Hope that helps.

  • My E pad has stopped directing me to my att/yahoo e mail. It gives me a notice that i must go to Settings, Safrai and turn off Private Browsing. I have tried for 2 days to find private browsing on my safrai site, and it is just not there.

Forsome reason, after two years, my E Pad is refusing to go to my att.Yahoo e mail...It says to go to Settings Safari Private Browsing and turn off Private Browsing. There is not place on the Safrari page that gives me Private Browsing. It explains it as being dark when turned on, but no place to turn it on or off.  Also it seems to go to Yahoo Mail instead of Att..Yahoo when it gives me the above message....Any One know what todo?

As of iOS 7, private browsing is not longer handled in the Settings app, but in Safari directly. The only Settings function for Safari that may impact this would be Block cookies.
Private browsing is turned on and off in Safari using the button in teh lower left of the Safari screen (if you do not see this, tap the + icon in the upper right to pull up an empty tab).
