Yahoo problems?

I was using yahoo messenger well and good until i installed some of the following software... adium, growl (it said adium "needs" it, and dos box)
now yahoo won't "work" it just quits unexpectedly and that's it, even i have already removed the said softwares... what can be done?
ive as well reinstalled ym after removing the said software and same problem....

Hello again,
ok, so ym did become stable this morning, now everything won't work (would quit unexpectedly)
the problem is, ive not even installed anything now and having making a clean install (removing those files in library etc etc) ym won't work now
is there something wrong with yahoo messenger? (for mac)
To be clear what do you mean when you say "ym wont work" is it not opening at all or just still crashing?
I use Yahoo Messenger (for mac), Version 3.0 beta 1 (build 18274) and do not seem to have any problems with it , I presume your version is the same, or is it Messenger 1.0.1 for Macintosh? Get info on the application to be sure. if it is 1.0.1.
Make sure Yahoo is indeed quitclick on the Finder's Icon in the Dock,
when the window opens go to,~/Library/Caches/Yahoo messenger cache folder, move the folder to the trash.
Try YM, (it may take longer to open) any better?

  • How do I change the fonts on the main page.My fonts have recently changed without my doing anything. They are like 6 point instead of the 12 I am used to. Email font is now huge. Is this an ATT/Yahoo problem or Firefox. Safari fonts seem to be o.k.

How do I change the fonts on the home page? They recently shrank from 12 to very tiny..(6 pt?). I did nothing to change them, but after the event tried to change them using "preferences-Fonts"which had no effect. ATT seems to have made a change in their email. The fonts in the email are now huge (18 pt?). This could be an ATT/Yahoo problem with Mac, although Safari seems to be working o. k.

Jim, extensions are also add-ons. Add-ons include extensions, themes and plugins.
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you need to make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.
If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author.

  • Clicking on a link in My Yahoo shoots me up to the top of the page. Firefox or Yahoo problem?

Hovering over or clicking on a link in My Yahoo automatically takes me to the top of the page. Is this a My Yahoo problem or a Firefox problem?

I have not heard of this one before... If it's due to change in My Yahoo, we'll probably accumulate more posts about it.
    Meanwhile...
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).
    Any difference?

  • When I go to Yahoo Mail from the home page all of the items (folders) are listed on the left but the rest of the page is blank. The mail opens just fine if I start with explorer, so it cannot be a Yahoo problem.

I need to figure out how to get the mail page to load properly in Firefox. Can anyone help?
I have been having to open Explorer to get my Yahoo mail

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.

  • I cannot download individual pictures from ebay. When I right click the picture (enlarged) or the small picture I don't get the option to "save picture as". Is this a firefox problem or a yahoo problem?

I always use firefox to browse the internet. When I attempt to save a picture from ebay I have always enlarged the picture, right click, the clicked "save picture as". Now when I right click I don't get that option. All it will let me do is save the entire ebay item file. When I right click on the enlarged picture, the small picture, or the white near the enlarged photo my icon choices are: 1.Copy 2. Select All 3.Yahoo 4. Search Yahoo for "Please wait imag" 5. View selection source. Is this a firefox problem or a yahoo issue? Please help. Thanks John

I've tried all kinds of different ways to make it work, and nothing! The only way I can get the pictures off ebay is open up a internet explorer window and go that route. Fire fox NEEDS to fix this NOW!

  • YouTube and Yahoo problems - Enable Java Script or Download Latest Flash???

For a number of weeks, I have had problems with browsing certain sites. I initially noticed that some adverts had a connection error on web pages that were displaying their content fine in every other way.
I then noticed that I couldn't access any page to do with Yahoo (connection error). I assumed that Yahoo was down until I tried to access YouTube where all that is displayed is a white page with all the text from the page in columns down the left hand side.
There is an error message that tells me to check that Java Script is Enabled or to download the latest Flash Player.
I have checked Java Script (enabled) and uninstalled / reinstalled latest Adobe Flash, but still have the same issue. I have the same problem with Firefox 2 and 3, and even installed Opera and got the same problem.
All the forums and support pages I can find don't seem to come up with a definitve answer.
This is the first REAL issue I have had with my Mac since I have had it and it has never let me down untill now......HELP!!
    Thanks (I hope!!) in advance.

Could it be a routing problem even though I never used to have this problem with the current router and provider?
There are also three other laptops using the same router and provider (all PCs), they all have no problems connecting to YouTube, Yahoo, etc.
Is it possible that a routing problem would only affect my Mac?
I have tried Safari, Firefox (2 & 3) and Opera. All have same issue.
I think I have cleared cache, can someone confirm the correct procedure?

  • Why doesn't Mozilla fix the Yahoo problem - it is a hacking issue?

Dozens of people have strongly complained about Yahoo inserting itself in Firefox and hiding itself so it cannot be removed. This has been going on for at least a month.
Why doesn't Mozilla do something to prevent Yahoo from HACKING into Firefox.? It is an obvious attempt to pre-empt people's browser of choice. Surely there is someone in the Mozilla group who can either alter the code to block Yahoo or at least come up with a solution that lets the average user remove the stupid Yahoo software.
    Thanks

What a pathetic joke - the instructions to remove the unwanted Yahoo search engine tell you to open up the search engine list and remove Yahoo. BUT YAHOO IS NOT DISPLAYED IT IS HIDDEN AND CANNOT BE REMOVED.
That horrible fact is what is so annoying. It is willfully hidden by either Mozilla or Yahoo forcing it down the throats of people who do not want it!!
And a search on one's entire system does not turn up any reference to Yahoo.
ONE MORE TIME, THIS IS MY COMPUTER NOT MOZILLA'S OR YAHOO'S.
Please do what you know perfectly well is the right thing to do and provide a viable method for users to get rid of Yahoo.
Why, Alice, can't you specifically answer my questions instead of spouting the drivel about providing features for a broad range of customers. There are hundreds if not thousands of user that are not happy about this stupid problem.

  • Publish to folder then ftp to yahoo problem

    okay
so i managed to upload my site to yahoo and it was functional for a few days
then i decided to enhance my site
now when i upload to ftp (using cuteftp) it all works, its all good, but hten i get a 404 error when i go to my site.
all my files are in m file manager and all my stuff is still not showing up!
now, i have gathered form these forums that it is possible that yahoo will not accept any filenames or folders with spaces and more than 9 letters?! is this true?
well, then aside form unsightly underscores how does one make sure to have folders that are compatible?
I have one page on my web sight that i want to call turbo-charge your marketing - is there any way to do that?
and how can i change all these filenames? do i need to do it in the inspector or can i do it finder?
please lend me a hand over here!
    thanks
    ef

are long file names a problem?
I don't think long file names are any problem. But you must get rid of spaces in the inspector and republish and reupload. If you do this with the Finder you will break numerous links and your site will most likely be non-functioning.
If spaces are really important to you, you might switch hosts. I think godaddy accepts spaces, but you should check to be sure before moving. .Mac of course accepts spaces.

  • Safari - Yahoo problems

Aaargh! The following functions do not work on Yahoo when I use Safari:
New, Reply, Forward, Move, Options . . . and a few more.
I have two Macs, and this happens with both. Yahoo support can't help. My ISP can't help. Yahoo works fine with Firefox, but I don't want to use that.
    Anyone? Thanks!

Why don't you want to use Firefox? It's much more compatible with Yahoo mail then Safari.
If you don't use one get Onyx for Leopard It's free. A multifunction utility for Mac OS X (PowerPC and Intel). It allows you to verify the Startup Disk and the structure of its System files, to run misc tasks of system maintenance, to configure the hidden parameters of the Finder, Dock and of some of Apple’s own applications, to delete caches, to remove a certain number of files and folders that may become cumbersome and more.

Firstly you need the peremium services for those providers to have POP access. You dodn't get this anymore for free versions.

  • BT Yahoo problems

I use BT Yahoo for e-mail accounts with addresses as name.btinternet.com and I also had BT broadband until recently.  I have now changed to another broadband provider and have also changed passwords on my email accounts, but continue to use my old e-mail addressees.  However I have noticed some differences for which I have been unable to find any explanation.  Firstly, my main e-mail address still displays BT Yahoo mail and, when I log out, I return to the BT Yahoo login page.  But my subsidiary accounts now show just Yahoo mail and not BT Yahoo.  Secondly, when I try to send mail from my subsidiary accounts, I get the message “Safari can’t verify the identity of the website “us.mg.bt.mail.yahoo.com”  I use a mac computer having Mac OS X 10.7.5.  Any ideas please?

BT currently are in the process of moving from Yahoo for mail and homepage and setting up BT mail and that may have something to do with the difference

  • Signing into yahoo problems

Whenver Im using my blackberry on the browser and I try to sign into yahoo (not email), it keeps loading asking me if I want to continue and than it always says the server returned the following error while attempting to fulfill your request "connection timed out". Why does it do this? How can I change this so I can log into yahoo? Thank you in advance

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Websites can be coded to perform better with some browsers rather than others. The BB Browser can appear to websites as several different things...that setting is, from within the Browser App, (BBKey > Options > Browser Configuration > Browser Identification). Changing that to another browser might help your BB interact better with some websites. In combination with all of the other configuration settings, you need to find the combination of all of these settings that works best for the sites you are visiting. Sadly, there is no "best advice" to give as each persons needs are different. But, I typically find that changing the Browser Identification often helps -- most often by changing to FF or IE (if those are available to you...the options vary by carrier).
    Good luck!
