Yahoo/Rocketmail Question

I have rocketmail, which ages ago was acquired by yahoo. So my email is @rocketmail.com, but I log in with a Yahoo id, and my email is yahoo. Now the question is has anyone figured out how to remove the pre-populated @yahoo.com in mail. Or have suggestions about how to set up rocketmail under other mail aps? I have tried setting it up under other mail and using the yahoo pop function but to no avail. Thanks

Yes, it seems that only the mail portion of Yahoo! is pushed through. No contacts are avail.
Take care.

  • Mac Mail with Yahoo address Question

I have several email accounts, yahoo, hotmail, etc set through mac mail. I have all the boxes checked to preserve the message from
the beginning. I have one client whom I email frequently back and forth with and I was just recently told that they cannot see the
message string that it is cutting off my original message. Can anyone help me with what is going on. I have tested it between my emails
and I can see verything fine. I have also went into Yahoo and chnaged settings and still nothing. I have a feeling it is something on their end
but not sure. Any help is appreciated.

Honestly, this does sound like something on their end.  Send an email from your account in question to another person (say your parents, spouse, etc.) and see if they notice the same problem.

  • One more iChat and Yahoo Messenger question

I have been PC user for years, but I only recently saw the light...
I have a MacBook Pro recently updated with Lion.  I have everything updated.  So, I am trying to communicate with a friend through iChat using Yahoo Messenger.  He has a brand new PC.
I can log into iChat using my Yahoo Messenger account.  He can do the same.  But, even though we can see each other on our Buddy List, and we can text each other, the option "Invite to video chat" is grayed out for me.  If he tries to invite me to video response, but I get no notice.
If I have Yahoo Messenger running at the same time, it takes control, and iChat shows me offline.  If I turn Yahoo Messenger off, I still have no option to video chat.
I have been through the pages here, but I do not have the experience I had with PC.  So, going through and deleting files in a Mac is a little indemidating for me.  Can someone welcome me to the fold and walk me through any tips you can think of that may fix my problem?  Remember, little baby steps...
    If not, thanks for reading,
    Patrick

    Hi,
There is no "FIx" as such.
All the major IM services that do Video somewhere along the line use different protocols in the connection process or in the actually Video Feed.
iChat uses a Process called Session Initiation Protocol. (SIP)
It does not matter if you have an AIM Buddy list ((One with an AIM valid ID as Lgin details) or a Jabber one or a Yahoo one or even if you enable th Bonjour one if you have other Macs on your LAN it will use this Protocol.
This Protocol is compatible with the AIM Application on PCs
There is a thrdr Party App called Trillian which in it's Pro Version can also Video with iChat.
The other side of the coin is that it will only Video to other iChat Users that have Google/Jabber or Yahoo Names.
By the same token Google run a Jabber Server
Jabber servers use a process called Jingle to do Video
Google however have altered their version and it is not that compatible with other Jabber apss that can Video chat
This includes Google's Standalone App called Google Talk (PC Only), the Browser Plug-ins it produces for  Macs (Intels only) and PC and the Chat Option on their Web Pages
Yahoo uses a straight Web Feed for Video and STUN for the Audio chat along side.
STUN is close to SIP but not close enough to allow Audio Connections..
    NOTE
iChat has had the Ability to Text chat to any Jabber Buddy including GoogleTalk ones since iChat 3
iChat 3 was nearly 6 years ago and no Jabber Video ability has bee added to the app in all that time.
Any changes are not going to be "in the next Update"

  • Yahoo/Mail Question

I have a yahoo account that i want to set up an account for in the MAC Mail application. I do not know what to put in the incoming mail server and the outgoing mail server (SMPT) boxes that are part of the set-up process.
    Could you please advise?
    Thanks
    Lauren

What type of Yahoo account do you have?
Free? - Yahoo doesn't offer POP access (necessary for email client access outside of the regular web interface). You can, however, set up Yahoo to work under MacFreePOPS- though it's not perfect, it should work.
    Yahoo Mail Plus? - http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/pop/pop-35.html
SBC (or some other ISP provided) Yahoo? - check the ISP's website or contact their support..

  • Junk Mail & Yahoo Group Question

Using Mail with Snow Leopard, .mac.com email account. I belong to a Yahoo group and mail from the group is consistently marked as junk and moved to the junk folder. I have a rule set up to move mail with the standard [Name of Group] in the subject line to a folder for that group. If I set junk mail to filter after running rules, those emails are handled properly, but I get tons of junk mail. If I set junk mail to filter before running rules, mail from the group are incorrectly marked as junk. I have to add each individual to my address book, not something that's simple to do, since the group is quite large. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I would simply use the current rule that works like you want up to a certain point and then add a delete and stop.

  • I like Firefox browser when I use my Yahoo mail reverts to "oreiginal/old " version from latest version and this does not bhappen with Exploer or Chrome

Using Firefox browser I can convert to the newest version of Yahoo mail and for this conversion it works satisfactorily. If I close Yahoo mail , either going to another site or closing the Browser, next time I open Yahoo mail it has reverted to old version (occasionally this does not happen but 80% of time it reverts). This does not happen with Explorer or Chrome. I have ensured updated Firefox. Tried Yahoo Ask for answer but no luck.I like Firefox Browser.

  • I can no longer link to emails from web pages: Before, clicking on site's "email person," that address would appear in my email's "TO:" field. Now, yahoo (my email) pops up, asks for password, but does NOT copy email address into the "TO:" field.

Windows operating system; Firefox is up to date.

I do believe that it IS a Firefox problem. I didn't have the problem before updating Firefox. Check out this site from Yahoo Answers. It's the same problem, but the advice is no longer accurate: The question was posted years ago, and the "fix" is for an outdated Explorer version. However, the Asker poses the question quite well.

  • Not able to send yahoo emails through 'Mail' with attachments size 5 MB or more.

All email service providers have a size limit on sending an email.  See the following link for info on yahoo mail's file size restrictions, and ensure you are within this restriction.

  • Can't Send Using Yahoo Mail Plus Account

I'm a Yahoo Mail Plus subscriber and am having problems sending mail with the Apple iPhone. I only have this problem with my Yahoo Mail Plus account. A second (free) Yahoo account works fine, as does a GMail account.
Other Yahoo Mail Plus users are reporting the same issue:
    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ag8uQ.z8gmrVYBymDwJR4V4jzKIX?qid=20 070704183341AAtwv1J

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AmTc9jW..OVhgxNaeShTn4ojzKIX?qid=20 070705064711AAuaye0
My problem is that when I send an e-mail on my Yahoo Mail Plus account, it is not received by the recipient, nor does a copy appear in my sent mail folder on the Yahoo server. I don't receive any error message -- the mail just never is sent.
I spoke with an Apple store genius and he suggested deleting the Yahoo Mail Plus account settings on my iPhone and then setting it up again. I did this and it worked for the first 2-3 messages, but did not work again after that (once I had already ended my Genius Bar appointment). I tried deleting my Yahoo Mail Plus account settings a second time later and got the same result -- I was able to send 1-2 messages but none after that.
My other free Yahoo Mail account is working fine on the iPhone (send/receive) as is a GMail account. And all accounts work properly when accessed directly via a web browser.
Apple has a support doc about sending e-mail on the iPhone, but this relates to ISP port blocking and doesn't seem to apply to my situation as it happens in various locations with different WiFi providers, as well as when on AT&T's Edge network.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305634
I even had the problem in the Apple store using their WiFi network, which presumably doesn't have port issues.
Anyone else having the same problem? Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    -Michael
    iPhone

after reading how free accounts works fine and plus accounts tends not to, i think its safe to say this is a yahoo problem. the iphone yahoo wizard is probably meant for free accounts, but plus accounts are setup differently.

  • The Sims 3 question?

When I live out/play a Sims family, it gets saved to one place. Then I switch over to another family and since it's saved in a different place on the game, they can't interact. Any way that I can get multiple families that I can play at different times in one neighborhood?

  • Yahoo Email HACKED via having logged in from my Blackberry

My Yahoo Email account becomes hacked and password compromised anytime that I use my Blackberry to log into my Yahoo Email by going to the Blackberry web browser, then my.yahoo.com, and then logging in.
After the hacking I will use a computer to go to Yahoo Email and change the password.  The hacking will then stop.  Then if I use my Blackberry to login to Yahoo Email via the Blackberry web browser then the account becomes hacked again within minutes.   I have isolated the hacking to the Blackberry as I only use my personal computer and the Blackberry to login.  I will go weeks without a hacking incident but once I use my Blackberry to login to Yahoo Email the account shows logins from Canada within 5-30 minutes and then within 12 hours the spam emails start getting sent from my account.
I can view the locations of logins to my Yahoo Email and they are typically from Canada when the hacking occurs.  After this hacker has gained access to my account then they start sending spam from my email to all of my contacts for a link to buy some sort of berry supplement.
How is this hacking happening through my Blackberry?  Is there a virus on the device?

Yours would be THE first with a virus... so let's knock that out.
What's happing is there is a plethora of spammers and "bot" spammers out there which do nothing but find active Yahoo email accounts and "fake" the email "sent" from ID from those "bot" spam machines. They don't know your password. It just sees an active email account, and makes it appear your account is sending those emails.
They don't have to have your account password. No hacking. Just simple tom-foolery.

  • Trying to connect PRE to Yahoo! mail...

When I first activated my pre, I setup my yahoo mail and it seemed to download all of my messages just fine. But when I tried to send a message, I just got an error that would not go away.
So I tried deleting the account and then add it again. But now, I get this error:
    Unable to Sign In
Could not sign in to account.
The mail server responded: Invalid security token: 6 1236 0
I've tried following the steps found here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090624085549AAWWP7n but it gives me the same error.
    Any tips?
    Thanks
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

The solution to the "Invalid security token: 4 1213 0" and "Invalid security token: 6 1236 0" error messages in my case was to deactivate the "Yahoo! Mail for iPhone" partner application at Yahoo!, reboot the Prē and then add my Y! email address. Instructions:
Login to My Yahoo! account and then access the “Account Info” page (clicking on your name at the top of http://www.yahoo.com/ is one route to Account Info).
From the Account Info page, click on “Manage Account Links” (in the lower right).
On the resulting “Account Sign-In Settings” page, enable the check box next to “Yahoo! Mail for iPhone” and click the “Continue” button to deactivate that application.
Turn off the Palm Prē, then turn it back on and follow the regular instructions to add your Yahoo! email address to the Prē.
(I used an EVDO connection; I don't know whether WiFi or EVDO makes a difference or not.)

  • Yahoo Personal Mail

I have a personal domain name registered through Yahoo. This week, yahoo moved everything over to a small business venue. Since then, I can receive my email on my iPhone but I cannot send any. Is anyone else having this issue? If so, do you know how to fix it?
