How to clean out cookies on iPad my yahoo search will not find any new search

You can clear Safari's cache and cookes via Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data and also Clear History.
You may also need to close Safari via the taskbar and then re-open it for your previous searches to disappear from the search box : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.

  • Why does Yahoo Search appear when I open a new tab, when Google is my default homepage?

    Ever since I upgraded to 4.0, when I open a new tab the yahoo search page appears, but my homepage is www.google.com.
    I have three tabs open at all times on my main foxfire window and always ask to restore them: Yahoo mail (my account), www.imdb.com, and http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/. Anytime I open a new tab http://search.yahoo.com/?fr=freeze&type=W3i_NA,132,3_6,Tab%20Search,20110104,6894,0,16,0 appears, but my default homepage is set to www.google.com.
    Interestingly, when I open a new window for firefox my default homepage of www.google.com appears, but http://search.yahoo.com/?fr=freeze&type=W3i_NA,132,3_6,Tab%20Search,20110104,6894,0,16,0 appears when I open new tabs.
    Why????
    Very annoying, but the highest of priorities.
    Thanks.

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
    In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
    * Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

  • I have a Yahoo search bar acting like an App tab that I can't get rid of. There is no option to unpin when I right click on it.

    I have a yahoo search bar which was installed during a download and installation of SIW.exe a system information application from http://gtopala.com/. It was the freeware version which is add based software. However I didn't expect that the search function would be such a nusance and interfere with Firefox's functions.
    The search bar is acting like a App tab that I can't move or get rid of. Ther is no option to unpin the object when I right click on the bar or to change it in any way using the 'group your tab' function to the right of the tab tool bar.

    Reply: Cor-el > Excellent!! Thank You. In Tools, Add Ons, Extensions there was a Default Tab enntry which was the culprit. Am running W7 so the XP Tools, Options, Advanced , Use Hardware acceleration when available, wasn't of much help here, however I did fix a problem on another computer running XP with that same fix. Thank You very much! HD

  • When i try to open a tab a Yahoo search page comes-up, i just want a blank page.

    When I do a Ctrl-t to get a new tab it brings up a Yahoo search page. I want a Blank page, like I used to get with a new tab. I must have downloaded the Yahoo stuff, but need to know how to reset my tabs in Firefox to get a Blank page again.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I downloaded, accedently, a Yahoo toolbar I have deleted the toolbar, but the tab problem still exists.

    ''This is a hidden add on!'' Here’s the easy, ''get rid of it for good solution'': It’s done within Firefox. Enter [about:config] in the url address box. Click “I’ll be careful. I promise”. In the <filter> field, type “extensions.netassistant” (no quotes). Right click on the field: “extensions.netassistant.tabsearch.url”, click on [modify] , either delete its string or enter your own. I’ve entered “https://encrypted.google.com” (this is a beta encrypted search by Google) just as a personal satisfaction against Yahoo. Do the same for:”extensions.netassistant.url” field.
    '''NOTE''': If you haven’t modified your Firefox configuration before and you don’t feel comfortable in what you are about to do, '''BACKUP!''' The backup procedure can be found at: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/backing%20up%20your%20information . Or just do a Google search for “backup Firefox pref.js”.

  • When I launch Firefox/Mozilla it comes u; with a Yahoo Search window. My older Firefox versions opened with MyEarthlink as my start page. Even designating Mozilla as my default browser still brings up Yahoo. What gives?

    Downloaded 3.6 and when I clicked on Mozilla icon, it loaded with Yahoo Search page and not as my previous Mozilla browser. To get to Earthlink, I have to type the URL in the Yahoo search window; same with any other URL. Before, I had a URL window above the browser page. Both the 3.6 and now 4 beta are painfully different.
    Running Win2000 SP4.

    1. Have you tried resetting your Homepage? <br />
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page
    2. Did you hide the Navigation bar where the Location / URL bar resides? <br />
    View > Toolbars = check-mark for the Navigation bar?
    If you can't see the View menu item, hit the '''Alt''' key.

  • SINCE YOUR LATEST UPDATE, I AM NOW ONLY ABLE TO OPEN ONE FIREFOX WINDOW AT A TIME, I ALSO LOST MY YAHOO SEARCH BAR TOOL.

    I have had Firefox for a few years and have been very satisfied with all of it's features and qualities. I work a great deal from home and have always enjoyed the convenience of being able to work off of 3 or 4 Firefox screens at one time. By pulling up one screen over the other and then go back and forth (as I still am able to do with Internet Explorer), saves a lot of time and NEEDLESS effort.
    Since your latest update the other day, I am now only able to get that 1 screen and no matter how many times I click on the Firefox Icon on my icon screen, no other Firefox screens will come up. I am stuck with that 1 screen...
    PLEASE HELP!!!! I have also lost my Yahoo search tool bar due to your upgrade, as well as several others which I cannot seem to retrieve.
    Thank you so Very much in advance for addressing and correcting this error.

    Since I upgraded to Firefox 19 from 18.0.2, on my Windows XP (SP3) laptop, I, too, can no longer open a new window. File-->New Window does nothing; also can no longer tear off a tab and open it in a new window (it stays where it is). Also, if I right-click on a tab and select Move to New Window, nothing happens. All of these worked fine in FF 18.0.2. All of these work fine with FF 19 on Windows 7. Only an issue on my XP laptop.
    After trying to open a new window, and not seeing the new window come up (and yes, I waited a long time), I decided to close my current window, which had multiple tabs open. Instead of just closing, it pops up the message reminding me that I'm about to close all those tabs. If I say close, and then go into the Task Manager, the Firefox application has disappeared (as expected), but the firefox (and plug-in container) processes are still running. So I have to manually kill the Firefox process to get it to quit. it's as if it thinks there is another Window open (the one I tried to open but never appeared). This happens every single time! I've restarted my laptop, and that does not resolve the problem.
    Is there a way to downgrade back to v 18.0.2 until this is fixed?

  • How do I change the website that Firefox automatically defaults to (Yahoo search) when opening a new tab?

    Whenever I open a new tab, the new tab opens to a yahoo search page. It used to open to just a blank tab and changed somehow. I've been unsuccessful at changing it back.

    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    * [[Troubleshooting plugins]]

  • How do I get rid of Yahoo search from starting in the creation of a new tab?

    my home page works correctly and I have removed the Yahoo tool bar from plugins/apps (can't remember which) But whenever I open a new tab it opens on this
    http://search.yahoo.com/?fr=freeze&type=W3i_NA,132,3_6,Tab%20Search,20110520,16934,0,19,0
    I would like it to open on my home page, which firefox does on startup. But I can't find a setting in options that will allow you to dictate what first appears when opening a new tab.
    I tried this solution but it didn't work
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/811550?s=getting+rid+of+yahoo+search&as=s

    Do you also have a search bar on your tabs bar if so, it is probably "New Tab" extension, but suggest going through all of the following.
    '''Remove the Yahoo Toolbar'''
    # "Ctrl+Shift+A" (Add-ons Manager)
    # Select Puzzle piece on left-side for Extensions List
    # Find "Yahoo Toolbar" and click on "Uninstall" button, and restart Firefox. ''(if you really need to keep the Yahoo toolbar, you can hide the toolbar instead with customize, and still change all the search defaults as below)''
    '''Then to fix the default search engine''' used at the Location Bar, change the value of '''keyword.URL''' in '''about:config''' to one of the values shown in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Location_Bar_search#Location_Bar_search_.28external_-_search_engine.29 Location Bar search] at MozillaZine.
    * Google Search (Google search results page)<br>'''http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q='''
    # type in '''about:config''' into the location bar (in a new tab)
    # if the warning message nonsense comes up ''uncheck'' the box '''before''' dismissing the dialog message
    # '''filter on keyword'''
    # right-click on '''keyword.URL''' and choose "modify" then paste in the Google search engine string of your choice.
    # '''filter on defaulturl'''
    # right-click on '''browser.search.defaulturl''' ''(if it exists)''and again choose "modify" then paste in the Google search engine string of your choice.
    # '''filter on ytff'''
    # right-click on '''yahoo.ytff.search.popup_src''' ''(if it exists)'' and again choose "modify" then paste in the Google search engine string of your choice, if adventurous might see if "reset" would remove and see if gone in next session (well not for those keeping the extension).<br

  • When clicked on Yahoo weather icon, Safari default search changes to Yahoo search. Would there be a fix for this?

    Hi Apple,
       When I click on the Yahoo icon on weather app, it takes to safari as expected, but it changes the search engine to Yahoo (i have to go back to settings and change the search back to google). This for me is a usability issue. Do you have this issue in pipeline to be fixed?
    Thanks,
    Aditya

    I'm not getting that behaviour at all.  It looks a bit like it's changed to Yahoo because you get a Yahoo search box in the webpage and it says "Yahoo search results..." at the top, but the search box within Safari is still Google.

  • I have a yahoo search at the bottom of mozilla page and want it gone.

    My son installed a video game and didn’t catch the yahoo search. The yahoo search is at the bottom of the page along with my weather info I have added on. This is not an extension or an add-on that I can just simply go into add-ons and uninstall it. I have tired going into about:config and there is nothing about yahoo that I can find please help.

    Hey Joe,
    Are you saying that your default search has been changed? If so, that's an easy fix. Just take a look at the [[Search bar]] Knowledge Base article. This will give you steps to change it back.
    When you mentioned weather, it sounds like maybe this is some sort of Yahoo toolbar that has been added on though. Is that what you are talking about? If that is the case, I would head over to Yahoo and look at some of their help documentation. This one looks about right:
    http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/toolbar/toolbar1ff/basics/general-07.html
    Hopefully this helps

    A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
    If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
    You can middle-click or hold down Ctrl and left-click the Home button on the Navigation toolbar to open the Home page in a new tab.
    You can look at this extension to set which page to open in a new tab:
    * NewTabURL : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl/

  • I downloaded 4.0.1 and lost all my Yahoo toolbar apps but still have the Yahoo search bar. How can I get the apps back? Refreshing the "gear" does nothing.

    I have Windows XP and downloaded Firefox 4.0.1. After it was installed 5/7/11, I noticed all my Yahoo search bar apps were missing. Rebooting did not help. Neither did the "gear" on the toolbar next to the yellow Yahoo search box. Internet Explorer browser still shows them. How can I get the apps back in Firefox?

    I have Windows 7, the Yahoo toolbar has been working fine until today now all my apps are missing.
    Refreshing the toolbar does nothing.

  • How do I add a yahoo search field to my toolbar so I can always see it?  It used to be there until a month ago and now is gone.

    how do I add a yahoo search field to my toolbar so I can always see it?  It used to be there until a month ago and now is gone.

    If you either updated to Mountain Lion or updated to Safari 6 under Lion then there is a unified URL address bar with the search. I personally don't like it either.

  • When opening a new tab, there is a Yahoo search screen showing rather than an empty tab and I would like to shut it off, how do I do this? thanks

    somewhere on updating, I picked up a yahoo toolbar, which I did not like. One of the tasks it performed was to bring up a yahoo search and news box when opening a new tab every time. I have not been able to uninstall it or shut it off, Any ideas where to start. When opening the new tab, it starts at "click,w3i.com" and then goes to "search.yahoo.com" and has some trending searches and latest news, My network is slow enough with out waiting for all these things to pass. Any idea how to eliminate it or shut it off. It is not listed in tool bars or options or add-ons or plugins or anything. below are the two links the tab goes through, they are listed in reverse order. Thanks for the help. Have a great day.

    Yes it was an add on called net assistant by freeze.com and I have found that, disabled it and intend to uninstall it, it must of come in with something else, I did not down load it specifically. Thanks

  • I have a Yahoo search bar next to the Url location bar. I would like to get rid of it. How?

    When I downloaded Firefox 4 this morning, I ended up with a Yahoo option for search on the tool bar next to the URL location space. I don't want the Yahoo search option and can't figure out how to get rid of it. I have read all the suggestions without help. I am running Windows 7.

  • My homepage, cnn, loads but is then redireted to yahoo search and I get a 404 error message

    I downloaded 4.0 at work and at home. home works fine. at work when I open Foxfire, cnn is my homepage. cnn loads, but is redirected to yahoo search. I don't know what it is searching for; I get a 404 error message. I also have a Yahoo menu button between Bookmarks and Tools. I have uninstalled 4.0 and reinstalled. I have reinstalled 3.? but it continues to happen. How can i get rid of this Yahoo problem? I really don't want to go back to Explorer and I refuse to go to Foxnews.

    I'm glad I was able to help.  I kind of wish mine hadn't worked because I ended up being one of the "lucky" individuals where my phone didn't restore from the backup and I lost all of my contacts, calendar appts, notes, etc.  It took me an extra 2 hrs last night to rebuild the next month worth of appts and try to rebuild my contact list from my yahoo contacts.  Oh well.  I will be getting an android at my next upgrade.  I'm tired of all of the BS that comes with owning an iPhone.
