Yahoo stole my newtab page and I want it back!

OK. I really liked the new-tab page Firefox came up with, then my brother downloaded Yahoo crap and I uninstalled it. The problem I have is that whenever I open a new tab, it still opens a yahoo search page. I looked everywhere online for information to get my new-tab page back, but all I found was how to get rid of it.
I'm not a computer person, so when they say 'open Firefox and type ___________.' I have no idea what they are talking about. To top it off, there is no little box in the upper right corner to click like all the help sites say. It's just a regular yahoo search page, and it's driving me nuts. I've looked about the web all day off and on for this. At this point, I'd be happy with figuring out how to get a blank page, but I don't know how to get to where I'm suppose to type 'about:blank' to do it.
I tried uninstalling Firefox and then installing it again too, thinking that it might reset things. It didn't. I still see yahoo. I hope you can help. I really miss my new-tab page.

I click the box 'do not ask me again' and it comes up EVERY TIME. I change things like I don't want history remembered, and when I reload FireFox again, it's back to the way it was BEFORE. EVERY SINGLE TIME. I don't know why this is happening, or how to fix it. What do I do??

I do not want to download another virus program.. I do not believe it is a virus. I am running the full version of Norton 360 and it is doing a daily scan. I have Windows 7, 64 bit OS.

How do I put it back to show just the URL links/topics without having to scroll down and down the page. All the extra sentences after the links causes too much scrolling to view the topics.

Those steps did not solve my problem. Here is an example of what I see although it's not exact copy/paste. All I want to see are the links but I get all the verbiage after the links

It is still in my preferences section. but even when I paste it in, I still get the Japanese site. How do I get the English site back, and ensure that I never see the japanese site on my computer ever again?

Some sites automatically redirect you to a site in the local language.
There is usually a link on such websites choose a language or go to an international version that allows to chose the language.
You can click the link at the bottom of the local Google page (www.google.xx.xx) to go to the [http://www.gooogle.com/ncr "Google.com in English"] site.
You may need to hover that local Google page with the mouse to make extra content appear.
You can set the Google preferences on the [http://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en Google Search settings] page (link at the top right).
Such settings are stored in a cookie on your computer that you need to allow: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Exceptions" or Tools > Page Info > Permissions.

I went to the home page and tried to log back in and it said I was already logged in on another browser window and if I proceeded to log in again the assignment I was working on would be ended and I would receive a zero. I can't locate the browser window that I was signed in on. Help...I don't want to get a zero, but don't know how to get back into the website under my original log in & get back to my half completed assignment.

Please try this: In Firefox '''History''' ('''Alt''' + '''S''') and check if it is listed in either '''Recently Closed Tabs''' or '''Recently Closed Windows''' or in the list below. If you cannot find it click '''Show All History''', on the left of the window click '''Today''' below '''History''' and on the right look for the site entry corresponding closely to the time when you lost it. If you cannot see the column heading named '''Visit Date''', you may have to enable it by right-clicking on the column header strip.
Also please note that the online course site may have redirected you to another site for the test, so it is also a good idea to look into site entries that may match the time.

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7or later : Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

Check Settings>General>Restrictions to be sure Camera, Safari and Installing Apps are set to On. If they are check all your screens and inside all your folders. If you still can't find it go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout. This will restore the home screen to its original configuration but may move other apps around to do so.

I"m guessing you're used to having iChat in the Dock. It should still be in the Applications folder. either drag it to the dock or create an alias and drag that to the dock (I think that means some form of right or left clicking on the app, and make alias should come up). If not, then I dunno
just a guess on this one...I didn't quite understand the question (maybe it's just me, though)

Hey Hallmarie, leave it turned off, do not attempt to charge or use. Place it in a sealed back of uncooked rice for at least 7 days, change the rice ever couple of days and hope for the best. After it has dried attempt to turn your iPod on. You may need to charge for 30 minutes, keep a close eye on it during this charge, if you hear noises, crackling, popping or hissing, or something smells like burning rubber or plastic, or you see smoke or it get very hot, unplug your iPod ASAP! and do not use; all signs your fried it. You may need to Reset or Restore or use DFU recovery mode to get it work, and when your all done this iPod may never work again. But for a couple of bucks worth of rice... worth a try. If you do get it to work the first thing you want to do is make a full set of backups, no telling how long it will work. Hope this helps, but be prepared to buy an out of warranty replacement. How do I get new pages in new tabs to automatically go the same setting as my home page? Google is my home page, and I want the opening in new tabs to default to Google also.

Whenever I open a new tab, I want the new page to open to the same setting as my Home Page (in my case, Google). Instead it takes me to Bing. Even my Home Page reverts to Bing after I've set it to Google.

The default New Tab in Firefox is a blank page and there is no built-in option to change that.

I keep getting a Yahoo DNS error handler page, and can't even access the add-ons page to disable it because it redirects me to the Yahoo DNS page immediately

I have already seen some suggested solutions to the problem of this extremely annoying Yahoo DNS error solutions page, but they involve going to the add-ons page of firefox and disabling various add-ons. The issue is that even when I try to go to the add-ons page I get immediately redirected to the Yahoo DNS solutions page again.
I have cleared my browser history and cache, hoping it would help, but nothing. Extremely annoying as I never installed anything - it simply started after a Firefox upgrade.

I disabled the fax function on hp 8600 and now want it back.

I went to fax something and the message says fax disabled see administrator. I have reinstalled the printer using the CD and the message still comes up. I cannot even print a test page because all features having to do with the fax says it is disabled.

I noticed your post about the issues you are having with your Officejet 8600 printer, and I wanted to write you back with a suggestion of mine.
I would suggest restoring the printer back to factory defaults, which will yes indeed delete the majority of information you have programmed, such as fax contacts and a network connection, if you have the printer on a network. However, this may help the printer get out of the state it's in, and allow you to make changes again, such as run the fax setup and print test pages.
On the printer, select Setup, Tools, Restore Factory Defaults, Yes, Restart the printer afterwards.
