Installation script for installing tables

I am trying to create a packaged application .(package include app, themes, images , shared components and underlying tables)
something similar to the lines of package application samples available here

These are MS Windows patches, say for server 2012.
this is a simple batch file am using for monthly patches. But now there are servers in staging area of DC which are required to patch with all missing patches from last 1year or so. We got all the patches in to a folder, and need to run against each server.

Using deb/rpm installer scripts with ArchLinux?

I'm having an issue with installing some education software from a CD-ROM(LPL Symbolic Logic stuff), and although it supports Linux, the software is installed via either one of two installer scripts, one for dpkg and one for rpm. Since I have neither under Arch', I get these messages when running the shell scripts:
. extracting DEBs
. installing DEBs
lpl-2_5_0-linux-deb-installer: line 23: dpkg: command not found
...and the rpm one:
. extracting RPMs
. installing RPMs
lpl-2_5_0-linux-rpm-installer: line 23: command not found
It should be noted that I can't simply edit the install scripts or something, as it extracts the deb/rpm files from one of the only three files on the CD(and NOT the Internet): the installer scripts(the third file is the readme, which doesn't help in this case, if you're wondering).
Any information on how to get this program installed without having to resort to using WINE or my XP partition would be greatly appreciated.:/

N/M, actually found out how to get it the raw rpm(or deb) files thanks to someone on the IRC channel(sorry, forgot your name already ><). If anyone somehow was in the same predicament, just comment out the lines with rpm and rm -rf in the script, run it, and change to the /tmp/extract.[whatever] directory and the files should be there.

HP LaserJet 5200 - Yet another "GenericClass: waiting for device" problem

I have an HP LaserJet 5200 that worked until today. I have changed nothing and replaced nothing and now I'm getting the ol' "GenericClass: waiting for device." It worked when I first went to 10.5.4, so that's not the issue. The connection obviously works because the computer recognizes the printer. I've deleted and reinstalled everything under the sun related to printing to no avail.
Any ideas? I'm hoping I don't have a $2000 paper weight.

Several Leopard users are reporting that HP printers no longer work with USB-parallel adapter cables. I don't know why.
The best solution is to put the printer on the network, either by buying the jetdirect card that fits that model (on eBay), or by buying a used parallel port print server.

Yet ANOTHER person looking for an answer to a dreaded Time Machine Error

"Unable to complete backup..." I have a dedicated 2Tb Lacie "Bigger" disk that Time Machine has been effectively backing up to since April 2008. In the last two weeks I've started getting this error. "Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup directory."
After reading the very convoluted and differing solutions to this problem, some that seemed to work for only a few, and some that don't seem to work for anyone, here's what I've done so far with NO results.
I'm running Leopard (with the most recent update - 10.5.6) on a 24" imac.
Step 1. Run Disk Utility to scan the disk for errors - No problems detected.
Step 2. Run Disk Utility to verify the disk - No problems detected.
Step 3. Trash the preferences, both in the system library and the user library, where I found them.
Step 4. Disk Utility - Zero the drive (10 hours btw) and reformatted with Journaling enabled, and a Re-name of the drive.
Step 5. Restart iMac, and upon prompting by the launcher, confirmed that Yes, I would like to use "new name" for Time Machine backups.
Step 6. Wait patiently for 116 seconds for Time Machine to start the first backup.
Step 7. Proceed to slam forehead (repeatedly) into desk when I got the error again after this 20 hour process.
I then proceeded to repeat this process thinking that maybe I'd forgetten a step.
I thought it may be a cable or port issue, so I changed the port that I was using on my drive...NO - the cable is fine, since we tested it on my husbands machine. No connectivity problems.
I thought it may be that I was missing an update, Nope.
I turned off the sleep mode, thinking that it was not able to access the drive effectively. No.
Then I started thinking that maybe there was a corrupted file. Who knows?
Does ANYONE have a suggestion? I am currently without a backup, since I erased my drive. I can do a manual back up, but I don't want to erase the drive again..since it takes forever.

I did not say anything about changing a drive name. What I referred to was the Computer Name as set in Sharing preferences. This is how TM identifies the machine with the backup contained in the Backups.backupd folder.
I would start looking at your console log entries to see what information it provides on the backup when it produces the error. This could be a permissions related problem for all one knows, although it's odd that the problem occurs immediately after you erase the backup drive and start anew.
When you prepared the external drives were they partitioned using APM and formatted Mac OS X Extended (Journaled?) I would also check the drive permissions. Select the drive and press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. In the Ownership and Sharing section at the bottom be sure the box labeled "Ignore permissions on this ..." is UNchecked. Standard permissions should be:
Owner=system with r/w privileges
Group=admin with r/w privileges
Everyone is read-only
If these aren't the same, then click on the lock icon, authenticate with your admin password, then change them accordingly. If you don't have a system or admin entry then click on the [+] button. You should be able to select Administrators and add it to the Group list. However, a system user will not exist when you try to add it, so click on the option for a new user. Enter system as the username (all lowercase) then enter and confirm your admin password. You can then add system as a user. Then set the privileges as above. Remove all other users by selecting them and clicking on the [-] button. You cannot delete yourself, but you can change your privileges to read-only.

Statspack - Installation scripts for 8.1.7 database

I'm want to install Statspack on an Oracle 8.1.7 database running on a HP-UNIX server. In an Oracle 8.1.6 database the scripts are located at $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin. Any help would be appreciated.

Dstatus: Yet another status bar for dwm

I decided to fix up my custom dwm status bar that I've hacked on for awhile into something a bit more presentable. Therefore, I give you dstatus!
So what makes this different from the rest? For starters, it's somewhat laptop specific. Things like battery, backlight, and possibly SSID aren't of much use to a desktop. However, these bits can be turned off at compile time if you don't want them. In fact, all the elements can be toggled and rearranged however you like it.
In addition, the main loop polls as little as necessary; just time, cpu usage, and battery are polled. Other elements are updated by threads listening to events.
Configuration:
config.mk defines which elements will be compiled into the binary. Turn any of them off by commenting out the appropriate line.
config.h defines the look of everything. Elements can be formatted (in a limited fashion) according to printf. Some elements can display either a percentage or a bar.
I've also provided an AUR package.
The source is UNLICENSED so feel free to hack away. :-)

Yet another wifi query for the 5800

Having trawled the net and tried almost every fix, can anyone point me in the right direction?
5800, & BT voyager2100.
It's paired, the wifi symbol shows up when I try to connect, but STILL I get the dreaded "web:no gateway" message after about 15 seconds. But I know it's connected because the config panel on the PC shows the phone IP under 'connected devices', which I presume it wouldn't do if MAC filtering was on.
BTW I've manually altered the default gateway/DNS/subnetmask/etc settings under the 'IPv4' panel as suggested elsewhere on here, but still no joy....
Where do I go now? In fact, IS there a fix?

This may be a dumb question, but have you set your PC to allow internet sharing via BT? If you can connect to your PC via BT but not get to the internet your PC is blocking access.
If I have helped you with your problem in some way, please take a little time and hit the kudos button in my post. Without your feedback, I don't know if I am being helpful or should just be put out to pasture.

How to automate creating installation script?

SQLDeveloper has a nice tool which would create installation script for a database application: Deploying an Oracle Database Application However it is not automatic - you have to choose objects to export and tables to dump rows every time you create an export script. Is there a way to automate it or maybe another tool to create an installation script? I though of Introducing oraddlscript | devioblog but it doesn't seem to create a file invoking creating all other objects in the appropriate order. Oracle exp tools are also inappropriate because I need a seperate file for each object so that I could commit them to SVN and keep track of changes.

DDL Wizard Seems fine, but it required Oracle export using exp. And exp cannot export tables with BINARY_DOUBLE columns or nested tables. And installing Oracle Database link is not about installing application.

Solution (not question :-) ): Apex Installation Script

i´ve asked so may question here, and got (most of the time) fast and helpfull answers, so that´s the time to do something for the community:-)
i´ve written an installation script for Apex 3.1 / 3.1.1. It has two Parts. First Part ist the main script to install all the necassary scripts (and there are a lot). The second one (installcheck_apex.sql) is a PL/SQL Block that checks all requirements and shows the output, you should consider/change. And the script can change all parameters/ports/accounts ...
But it is very long (320 Lines of Code) If somebody needs it, i post it also

You don't really have to, but if you want to use APEX with those multiple instances, it'll make
life much easier - you don't want to keep the data in one database instance and your (APEX) application code in another and get the data over a link.
But you only need one Instance of Oracle HTTP Server with multiple dads configured, not one
HTTP Server per Instance.

Oracle installer scripts in Delivery wizard is disabled in Project builder

Hi,
I have oracle forms 6i installed on my system. However, I was trying to builld installer scripts for my project. So I open the deliver wizard in Project builder. Select all the parameters, like project name/directory etc.and then when I reach the option of creating installer scripts, it is disabled while the others like,
Deliver to local staging, Deliver to a remote staging etc is enabled.
Any ideas, why I the installer scripts are disabled.?

in the section Managing Your Application the following statement about project builder:
"Remember that you can automate the running of test scripts just as you can automate actions associated with the modules in your application.
How would one do this???

The install.xml in the "Adobe Flash Builder 4.5 Installer/deploy" folder will have the INSTALLDIR property. You can change this property to your custom location.
