Hi BB,
It's not really sound your sending it's a MIDI data file, similar to a player piano roll. Yes, you can direct MIDI to any available MIDI port on a Windows machine, right now the Mac is using it's internal General MIDI Quicktime synth.
You will need a program that can send MIDI to any MIDI port available.
Right click on a MIDI file and see what your available options are for playing a MIDI file. (post back)
or....
Here's a program for $20 that looks decent.

There are probably some freeware options around but I didn't check.

  • Is the Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II compatible with iPad Connection Kit

    Hi All,
First post in the forum. I was wondering if the Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II is compatible with the iPad connection kit via USB, as it uses CompactFlash not SD.
    Thanks

    Lightworksuk-
I would think so.  My 5D Mark II and three other Canon cameras are compatible.
Some people have received an error message that their camera drew too much current from the USB adapter.  In those cameras, there was usually a setting option to charge their batteries from the USB cable.  By turning that option to NOT charge, the problem went away.
There are several CF to USB adapters on the market.  I have a couple that work with the Camera Connection Kit's USB adapter, but others that draw too much current.  For those, as well as cameras that draw too much current, use of a powered USB hub may solve the problem.

  • Before my PC had iTunes, I loaded Aps from store onto my daughter's PC with iPad connected. I indicated my email address and Apple password. Now I want to upgrade to next iPad but Aps in my iPad are not on my PC iTunes. Do I have to buy again to keep them

I'm a new user of an iPad. Before my PC had iTunes (it does now), I loaded Aps from from the iStore using my daughter's PC with my iPad cable-connected. I indicated my email address and Apple password--not hers and paid for these Aps--receipts arrived via my email. Now I want to upgrade to 5.1 but the Aps now loaded on my iPad do not show up  on my PC iTunes library. When I click 'Upgrade' I get a warning message that says all Aps currently on the iPad will be obliterated in the process which of course I don't want to have happen because they're not showing up on my PC which presumably means my PC is not aware of what's on my iPad. Do I have to buy these same Aps again to keep them if I'm going to upgrade to 5.1, and how do I get my iTunes on my PC to back up the Aps currently loaded onto my iPad?

You should be able to copy the apps (and any other iTunes purchases) over to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. And as long as apps remain available in the store, and you use the same iTunes account as you originally used to purchase them, you should be able to re-download them in the future : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
If you are already on iOS 5+ on your iPad then you should be able to update the iPad directly on the iPad via Settings > General > Software Update .

  • Problem with iPad connecting to Microsoft email systems?

I have just received the message below from our IT department but can find no reference to this on the web. Does anyone know any more about it?
    Thanks
    Les
"Unfortunately, an email problem has been identified which is affecting all organisations who synchronise Apple mobile devices with Microsoft email systems. This problem is with Apple in California for resolution.
IT Services have tried to manage the issue for the last couple of days to maintain a core service but this is becoming increasingly difficult and the service is degrading to unacceptable levels.  In order to restore a quality service for the majority it is necessary to temporarily suspend the email synchronisation services to most Apple users e.g. iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch.
Other universities and organisations are implementing similar measures.
Remote access to email will still be available as usual via Outlook Web App and desktop ANYWHERE.
We will restore full email services to Apple users once a fix has been received and tested."

  • Computer turns off with iPad connected

Every time I try to connect my iPad to my computer, the computers turns it off. Later it gives me a message "blue screen error". It "thinks it's a camera". The solutions Microsoft gives me like plug into the back of my computer, doesn't help. Why does it happens? How do I correct it?

Thanks Eric for trying to help me but my big problem is that when I plug my iPad into my computer, instantly my computer shuts off. My iPad is new and I was able to plug once for the first set up, but now, when I just came back from vacation and wants to transfer my pics from iPad to computer I'm not able to. It doesn't even give me an option to add on Facebook like I've seeing others do... My pictures are locked in my iPad.

  • Help!! PC Ipad connection

having trouble with ipad connection with pc. PC system is windows XP. Previously connection is fine, now ipad kept on asking if i trust computer when I connect my ipad with my laptop thru usb. Tried with my ipod nano, connection is fine.

No web cam, but I think that I did get some web cam software when I was updating my other logitech drivers.  This was not by choice, rather it appears to have been included in said update download.  I remove from my PC just to be safe considering the issue.  Unfortunately no effect.
I have enable and disable my Firewall, uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, restarted the PC and I-pad all many time now with no improvement to my situation.
I appreciate everyones efforts to help,(begin minor rant) but I have to say for something that is as simple as plugging a connection into a PC (when things are working the way they should)  this has sure developed into a troublesome issue.  I would never have guessed that such a basic task would be so hard.  Sure wish Appple would address this for their customers, via some updated driver/ work around instead of said customers having to go through all these troubleshooting task over a basic function of their product (end minor rant).
Any other ideas keep them coming.  Thanks

The camera connection kit can only be used to import photo/video files from a camera, SD card or USB flash drive. You can't import other types of files. You can't export any type of files using the camera connection kit.

  • Watching movie files on ipad just with the connection kit

Hello everybody. A simple question. Can I watch movies on the ipad 2 only with the connection of an usb stick? Or have I copy the file on the ipad 2 to watch the movie? Thanks

The kit is aimed at copying content from digital cameras, so it only copies into the Photos app, not into the Videos app. I've just tried it with a couple of videos via the CCK - an MP4 video copied into the Photos app and played there, an M4V originally downloaded from iTunes copied into Photos but won't play there (plays ok when synced from my computer into the Videos app).
The supported video formats on the iPad are (from http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/) :
Video formats supported: H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format

  • Forgot the passcode to my ipad. When I went to restore it, it asked me if I wanted to update the software so I said yes. It then went into recovery mode, I'm guessing, with the connect to iTunes showing on the screen. Now iTunes will not recognize it??

Forgot the passcode to my ipad. When I went to restore it, it asked me if I wanted to update the software so I said yes. It then went into recovery mode, I'm guessing, with the connect to iTunes showing on the screen. Now iTunes will not recognize it so I have no idea how to get it back! Help!!

Then you will need to try restoring it once more:
Placing your device into recovery (DFU) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
If you have a problem getting into recovery mode then try: RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • CF card to Ipad with camera connection kit?

I have a cannon 5d and 5d mark ii, and was really hoping to transfer images to my iPad from these cameras via the camera connection kit as they both use CF cards and not SD cards. But these cameras do not work with the USB camera connector. So I thought maybe I could use a card reader and the USB connector. But my card reader seems to use to much power. Does anyone know of a CF card reader that works with the connection kit or any other method that may help me??. Thanks

I have a Canon 20-D and I intend on getting an upgrade Canon (not the 50-D but the one step up from that, ... the one with video capability). Anyways, I bought the Apple camera connector kit and it is the BEST...! I, too, had an initial problem with not being able to use the connector kit until I remembered that I have this "Hama" USB2.0 Card Rreader )35 in 1 (this is what I am reading that is on top of this dark blue item that is the intermediary between the camera connector kit doohicki and my computer (or ipod, or iPad). It works like a charm.
The best thing of all is that this USB camera connector kit is NOT just for pics but can be used for lots of things that are USB connectable. In the newest issue of MacLife they discuss the multiple uses of this camera connector kit. One can even use it for a (USB) key board. One thing that i like about Apple's c.c kit is that the photos that you take can be put directly onto your ipod or ipad or iphone WITHOUT first downloading onto a computer ( & then transferring them).

  • Connect Laptop with Ipad Air

I am trying to connect my Ipad Air. With my Dell Laptop..
But when i plug in the USB Cable to the Laptop the Ipad start charging for a while then show that “Not Charging”.
So i just wanted to know whether it is possible to connect the Ipad with the Non-Apple Laptop???
And same problem with the connection of Bluetooth Ipad does’nt recognize my Blackberry ...

Yes, you can connect an iPad to a Windows PC in order to sync with iTunes as long as you are using the minimum versions of Windows and iTunes needed in order to use an iOS devices. You do not need a Mac. If the iPad charges for a while, the device is being recognized by iTunes. The USB port on your computer is not supplying enough power to charge the iPad efficiently so that's why you end up getting that message. Use the power adapter and plug the iPad into a w all socket in order to charge it.
The iPad is not designed to connect to your Blackberry via Bluetooth. You can read this to see what Bluetooth can be used for on an iOS device.
