Yaourt just printing ^M when typing return when installing

This is a recurring issue for me. I'm not sure if the issue is related to urxvt, tmux, yaourt or something else, but I only encounter with that combination.
In yaourt, I can press enter to start building, but when I press enter to install, it just prints ^M (trying to use Ctrl-M just prints ^M too)
The only fix I've found is to exit the terminal and open a new one - quite annoying as I need to restart the upgrade (restarting yaourt doesn't help) .
Everything else seems to work just fine.
Any idea what might be the cause of this and how I can fix it?
Some versions:
rxvt-unicode (urxvt) v9.20 (urxvtc + urxvtd)
yaourt 1.5
tmux 1.9a
Linux simendsjo-t520 3.16.2-1-ck-bamboo #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun Sep 7 13:36:10 CEST 2014 x86_64 GNU/Linux (the bamboo part is just a small patch to include the Bamboo Pad in HID)
X.Org X Server 1.16.0
EDIT: Oh, and i3 4.8

@hagfish, I suspect you can report yaourt bugs at http://archlinux.fr
But unless you really know how the AUR works (which from your questions I gather you don't) I'd strongly discourage using yaourt.  Personally I'd discourage everyone from using yaourt - but if knowledgeable users opt in to it, more power to them.  I'd encourage you to at least spend a little time just building aur packages with makepkg.  Once you are comfortable with this you can look into aur helper programs - but there are *many* others besides yaourt.
I personally use cower - but pacaur is another that gets very good feedback - there are certainly others that I can't list off the top of my head.  While no aur helper is "officially supported", cower was written by an active archlinux developer - so it is much less likely to do stupid and dangerous things.  Yaourt seems to make a living in the realm of the stupid and dangerous (not slander - for evidence see their home page that recommends installing with "pacman -Sy <package>" EDIT for clarity: never run such a command. ).

I am unable to control my iPad 2. When typing and deleting it generates random letters! Any advice

Start with this and see how it goes. Quit all apps completely and reboot the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Delay from when typed to when text appears on screen?

I'll type but there is a long lag time before the text appears on screen.
This seems to have started after upgrading to Mavericks and is most noticeable in Apple Mail.
Any tips as to how to diagnose and fix?
    FWIW.....
I'm on a MacBook Pro (closed lid), Apple monitor, Apple wireless keypad and mouse.
    And now OS X 10.9.3.
    Thank you.

I had a very similar problem.  No matter where I typed (Word, Apple Mail, online, etc.) I would get a typing lag.  I did all the self diagnostics, repair disk, hardware test, PRAM reset, etc.  Still had the problem. Even my mouse was lagging when i moved it. I took it to the Genius Bar and they did a hardware check and it did not reveal any problems.  The tech said it still may be a hard drive or memory problem. They reformatted the hard drive and did a clean install of mavericks.  I moved a few items from my time machine back up and the problem started to occur again.  I reinstalled my old RAM, still had the problem.
I had wanted to upgrade to a Solid State Drive (SSD), so I purchased a Samsung EVO 500 GB SSD.  As I was cloning the new hard drive, I noticed the problem wasn't occurring anymore.  So I suspect it was the hard drive starting and stopping that was causing the problem.  During the cloning process the installed drive was constantly spinning, therefore not starting and stopping. I've installed the new SSD and in addition to the lag problem going away, my Macbook is wicked fast!

  • Screen flicker when typing on new install

I installed Dreamweaver CS6 on a new Windows 8.1 computer last week.  The software works fine; but when I type, the screen flickers on each keystroke.  I never had the problem on my old computer nor on any of my other CS6 programs.  I have tried to research if others have the problem; but I only can find that there is an issue for Photoshop CS6, where changing the GPU acceleration to Basic solves the problem for that program.  There is no place to change GPU acceleration in Dreamweaver.
Does anyone have any suggestions.  Fortunately I can still use the program, but it is quite frustrating.

Have you installed the latest updates for CS6 yet? Adobe released a patch to help improve performance on HiDPI displays.  It's worth a shot.

  • Slow response when typing and/or pulling up new message

I do not have any Add-ons or extensions, so that is not the issue. I have a new computer running Windows 7, so I don't believe that is the issue either. But I have a lot of "hour-glass" time when typing and when clicking on emails to open the message. Is just seems to be responding slow. Is it Thunderbird ... or my computer?

As for Thunderbird, the only relation I could see is in line spell checking. Could you please check your Thunderbird preferences, Composition, Spelling. Does it help to uncheck 'Enable spell check as you type'?
If not, I could imagine this to be related to a virus scanner, or a display driver that is not up to date. You might be able to get an update from it from the manufacturer of your video adapter.

  • Slight latency when typing and scrolling is Safari

Something is wrong my Safari.  There is a slight delay when typing and when I scroll really long webpages that are fully loaded into the browser.  I created a new system profile and verified this problem is NOT happening there.  It's very annoying and I don't know what is causing this.  It only happens in Safari and no other program that requires typing and scrolling.  Can someone help?
    Thanks!

I created a new system profile and verified this problem is NOT happening there.
It only happens in Safari and no other program that requires typing and scrolling.
Since it's a user specific issue and only Safari, more then likely a third party Safari add on that's causing this.
Go to Safari > Preferences then select the Security tab.
    Deselect:  Enable plug-ins
    Quit then relaunch Safari.l
If you notice a difference when typing and the scrolling issue disappeared, follow the instructions here >  Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues

    Hi,
I have read in this forum that keyboard problems may be solved updating Bios. You should try it:
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=60
you can check if a new version is available for your lap:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
Note, Bios update is a tricky procedure that can finish with total system collapse if it goes wrong. Moreover, the warranty doesn't cover bios failure. Anyway, try to restore os to bring the factory setting before touching the bios

  • Serial printer won't just print when i 'dd' to it ?

In an office i help to set up there is a windows box connected to a genicom 6218 printer thru serial EIA232 port.
There is also an older genicom LA36N dot matrix printer laying around.
The windows box has a legacy application that communicates directly with the printer bypassing all the windows printing system
All connections are made with 3 wire null modem cables - tx rx earth. no advanced control signals
YAY SIMPLE TEXT PRINTERS. LETS PLAY WITH 'EM. So i brought in my linux box
When the LA36N is hooked up to the linux box ttyS0 then dd'ing or cat'ing a text file to /dev/tyS0 prints it okay. as expected.
When doing the same with the 6218 it prints half line of some random gibberish (not the text file contents) and stops. if switched to 'offline' then back to 'online' it prints some more and stops. and 2 - 3 times more like that (untill the buffer in the printer is empty ?). the same happens with 'echo "HI" |cat >/dev/ttyS0' too (the amount of gibberish is still few lines long)
I made a 'null modem Y - splitter' cable (where 2 ports are parallel for the receiving devices and in 1 the tx and rx are crossed for the transmitting device) and connected together
Windows box ====x==== linux box = printer
Then printed a document from the application while dd'ing from ttyS0 to a text file on the linux box.
With both printers the resulting text file is identical when printing the same document. Both printers successfully printed the document
Now i connect the printer just to the linux box without the Y cable and dd the file back to the printer.
Again - the 6218 prints gibberish in pauses and the LA36N prints ok
So the question is : Isn't the data being dd'ed to the printer the exact same as when the windows box printed ? Why does the 6218 treat it differently ? 'How does it know' ?
Maybe it something to do with signals sent back to the computer ? well it's not
I connected the Y cable like this
Windows box = linux box ====x==== printer
Then printed a document & dd'ed again with both printers.
In both cases the resulting file is empty - ie there is nothing sent back from the printer to the host

I am not following everything you did, but your problem may be:
Data size (7 vs 8 bit)
Stop length (1 or 2 bit periods)
    Parity (even, odd, mark, space)
If the 6218 is finicky about parity it might trip over whatever parity is being sent by the linux box while being compatible with the windows box.  The LA36 may not care about parity.
I am puzzled by the several lines of gibberish in response to "HI" being sent.   Normally I would a Baud mismatch at that point, but both machines work with (I assume) the same settings on the Windows box.
You may want to try different parity settings on the linux box and see what happens.
<pedantic mode>You refer to the reference signal on the cable as "Earth".  In reality, it is a reference signal that may or may not find its way to "Earth" or "Ground".  It should always be kept isolated from the chassis to minimize ground (earth) loops in order to maximize your signal integrity.  In your description of your cross over cable, you did not explicitly state that you included a signal ground.  If you did only swap pins 2 and 3, then you are depending on chassis grounds between 2 or 3 boxes.  This is a bad idea.  Ensure you tie all signal grounds on your cables (pin 7 on a DB-25 or pin 1 on DB-9)</pedantic mode>

  • I have a Macbook pro thats prints fine to my HP printer, but when I try and print from my iMac it doesnt see the pages and just prints two blank pages. Even thou the document is a number of pages

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500A and I had no problems printing to it from my Mac or Macbook pro. The macbook is wifi and the Mac is cable, I have recently had the printer replaced with an exact model. Since doing that I can only print from the macbook pro, when I try and print from teh mac it doesnt see the pages. It could be a 10 page document and it will just show two blank pages. I have googled the question and have tried deleating the printer and reinstalling without any luck. When I got the new printer I insalled all the latest drivers thats the only thing different.
    Could you please help

Right click the printer in System Prefences -  Print & Scan and use Reset Printing System... and then reinstall the printer, should take less than 5 minutes. Here is a photo showing how to Reset Printing System....

I too added 2nd apple ID when I tried to get Free app from apple store just to get to NONE on the credit card needed. It said it sent confirmation email to my new apple ID email that I have to confirm. Problem is I can not get to the new apple ID email account.  On my ipad it logs into my original email account and I see no where to log into another email account.  If I go to my laptop, the new apple ID I created does not let me log into email where apple said it was sent to.  It did not send to back up email account either.
Can I log into 2 email accounts on my ipad where it says mail at bottom?
Can I have 2 apple ids?
If I created a 2nd apple id to get to NONE on credit card needed, can't I log into it also on another laptop in gmail?
    (won't let me)
If I used my original apple id I created when I got my new ipad, it will not let me get free app without credit card, there is no where it says NONE needed. I am too new to apple to start with credit cards etc until I get use to it.

Strange bug! How could it be unnoticed?

Hey Apple QA guys come on, fix that terribly annoying bug, please!
    Env:
IOS 7+ (including freshiest 7.1 beta 3), all devices.
    How to reproduce:
    Open dialer app
Press and long hold "0" button
    Expected:
On the finger down "0" digit appears in phone number line, after the long hold "0" dissapears and "+" appears in place.
    Actual:
After the long hold "0" does not dissapears and "+" is added below. It makes international number dialing unavailable.
    Workaround:
Quickly press backspace after the finger down to delete "0" before plus appears.

While printing any pdf file it will print the visible text only. To overcome this, the form needs to be dynamic so that it expands in layout while entering more data. Usually dynamic forms are developed by Adobe LiveCycle Designer.
