  • Combining CPU(Critical patch Updates) with Year-End patches, good/bad idea?

    Hello all,
I hoping to get some expert opinion on some upcoming patches to our environment. We are 3 releases being on applying CPU's to our environment and it is that time of year where testing is needed for Year-end patches. Does anyone see any issues with combining the year-end and CPU's? Would it be recommended that we hold off on the applying CPU's because of not experiencing any major problems in our environement, then schedule to gradually get up to date once the year-end patches are in place?
The desire to install CPU's is to not fall too far being on the CPU's.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

My recommendation is to combine the CPUs with the rest of your patches. CPUs do not affect functionality - they patch security holes/issues in software. Since you will be testing for yearend patches, you can take advantage of this opportunity to also include CPU patches, else separate testing and downtime will be required for the CPU patches. This is the approach we have in our organization. We have yet to encounter an issue with this approach.

  • Fiscal Year End change

Our current Fiscal Year variant is April – March. However we have now been bought by a different company and the fiscal year end needs to change to Jan-Dec. Therefore this year will be a shortened year.
I have a couple of questions:
I can see in SPRO that the fiscal year can be changed (transaction OB29) to accommodate a shortened year. Currently our year is set up under K4 which is year dependant not calendar dependant. How do I modify this? Do I move the tick from one to another (ie to calendar year), or do I need to copy the K4 and use it as a new one. If I do this what else do I need to do, I know if I changed it I would need to allocate it to the company code.
    2. When do the changes need to be in Production, is it before year end, last day after everyone has gone home, on day 1, or once the accounts have been finalised? I assume I could make the changes in Dev/QA before then and fully test?
    3. I understand that I need to do something on Asset/Depreciation. Again please advise on the timing of this.

I wonder if you can answer something further. Our financial year used to be Jan-Dec, which meant the fiscal year number (i.e. 2002) would be the same as the calendar year date. Then we had a shortened fiscal year so we could move to April-March. This meant for example that this year (April 07 to March 08), our fiscal year is 2008. We have just had a change of ownership and yes you guessed it, the financial year needs to move again, so we are having another shortened year ending in December. This means that our next financial year which be 2009, which covers January 08-December 08.
My question is, how do I let people see this when running reports etc. In   IMG you can specify text for the period, however when looking at reports or data in any part of the system, this does not seem to appear anyway.
How has anyone else got round this?

  • Mid year go live and year end go live

    Hi Experts,

you go live on the SAP payroll system in the middle of a financial year, you have an option to transfer your legacy data into the SAP payroll system.
The system provides the schema INLK for transferring your legacy data. For this purpose, you need to perform the following IMG activities:
Define the payroll periods for which you want to transfer the legacy data. For more information, refer to the IMG under Payroll India -> Legacy Data Transfer -> Define Periods for Import
Define the type of data you want to import. For more information refer to the IMG under Payroll India -> Legacy Data Transfer -> Define Pay Elements for Import
Upon execution along with the payroll driver, the schema INLK formats the information defined in the above tables as payroll results and stores the values in the database table PCL2.
For more information on the Legacy Data Transfer functionality, refer to OSS note number 506128.

  • How to clear all open GRIRs in the year end and maintained as provision  ?

    Hi Friends,
I would like to clear all open GRIRs in the year end and maintained as provision.
in the next year next day i would like to show as open items.
    How can do it ?
I have tried to clear it. I have maintained OBYP settings also. But i am unable see as clear item.
Could you explain me how it actuallly works ?

    Hi REddy,
In most of the cases, the GR/IR account will have a credit balance and would be taken as provision for liability during year end activites. So as a standard practise you need to clear them on year end.
but if you want to clear them, first you need to deselect check box Post automatically only for GR/IR clearing GL's master data.
Then pass a adjustment entry like
    GR/IR GL Dr
To Provision for Liabilites GL: Cr
Above sample entry is true when your GR/IR account has a CR balance at the year end. if not post it in a reversed manner.
Now with tcode F-03, for GR/IR GL, choose all items and clear them. Now you will get the clearing doc number.
Now on start of new FY, reverse the above accounting entry with FB08.
    This will meet your requirement.
    Thanks,
    Srinu

  • Financial Year end Change

    Dear all
The Finnancial year end for my client was changed from 31/12/09 to 31/10/09. The financial periods
was created as 12 months in the fiscal year. This has now decreased to 10 months.
I can delete the last two periods and create a new fiscal year starting 01/11/09.
    but there are two problems:
1)The last two periods can be deleted but in the Posting Periods window when drilling down into one
of the remaining periods the number of periods still shows as 12.
2)A new Fiscal year with 12 periods can be created starting 01/11/09 but in the Fixed assets module
when trying to change the fiscal year I get the Following message: "There is no subsequent fiscal
year for FY09" . Also on the asset master files the depreciation is calculated for 12 months and not for
te decreased 10 month fiscal year
    Please advise

  • Queries regarding Year End Closing Activity

    Hi Experts/Moderator,
I need solution to my queries regarding Year End Closing Activity?
    1. How can we post adjustment entries to GL/AR/AP/BANK/ASSET accounts in the previous FYu20192008 in Apr/May/Jun/Julyu20192009 using Special Posting Periods, if already balances are carrying forwarded to next FY 2009? What effects on the Opening Balances already carry forwarded?
    2. Can we run the Asset Depreciation for the previous FY 2008 in Apr/May/Jun/Julyu20192009 using Special Posting Periods, if already balances are carrying forwarded to next FY 2009? What effects on the Opening Balances already carry forwarded?
    Thanks & Regards
    Chandra

    Hi,
You can carryforward the balance of GL, AP & AR. System is automatic updated the balance in current fiscal year if you pass the adjustment entries in previous fiscal year 2008 using special period. You can also run the deperciation.

  • Cannot execute year-end closing in IDES R/3 4.71

    Hi Gurus,
    I am working with IDES R/3 4.71.
since the current fiscal year in system in 2003, i try to change the fiscal year to 2004, then 2005, ..., finally I wish to get fiscal year 2009.
during the procedure, i need to post AA depreciation for each period of 2003. I have done that successfully with AFAB. then I also successed with Change Fiscal Year to 2004. now I need to execute year-end closing for 2003. but the system reports errors.
    error message like below:
    =========================================================
Asset balance sheet values not completely posted
    Message no. AU075
    Diagnosis
In company code 1000, which is to be closed, APC values have not been posted to Financial Accounting for all relevant depreciation areas.
Depreciation area 03, at least, is set up for periodic posting of APC values.
The year-end closing checks if documents were posted that have an entry date after the last run of the program for periodic posting of APC values. If such documents are found, the system issues this message.
    Procedure
Check which depreciation areas are supposed to post APC values periodically to Financial Accounting according to their Customizing definitions (indicator: "Post assets periodically in General Ledger")
See the Define How Depreciation Areas Post to General Ledger IMG activity.
Start the program for posting APC values. In the Asset Accounting main menu, choose Periodic processing . Start this program in update mode, regardless of whether or not documents are displayed in test mode, or if a message appears stating that there are no documents to be posted.
    Start APC Posting Program
    ==================================
I didn't change the depreciation area provided by IDES group.
    anybody knows what's wrong?
    many thanks!
    George

    George,
The long text seems to be self-explanatory. IDES comes with pre-configured stuff. So for sake of training they may have designated some depreciation areas as periodic posting. Please follow the instructions in the message and try to resolve it.
    If I were you:
    a) I would find out the chart of depreciation for the company code you are trying to do a fiscal year close.
    b) Then go to the configuration and see the definition of each depreciation area.
    c) For those which have periodic posting of depreciation, run the corresponding program as instructed in the long text.
    Regards,
    Vishal.

  • Assets Year-end closing

    Hi
One of our group companies are facing the issue below.
*. When trying to run any asset transaction the error message "Fiscal year change in co.code J002 possible only after year-end closing 2008" . We are currently in 2010 in financial accounting.
AJRW -Change to new FY 2009 was successful, but for 2010 the same error msg above is displayed.
    *AJAB -FY close
    - 2008 : The planned depreciation was not completely posted to Financial Accounting for asset 000000300090-0000 in company code J002 in depreciation area 01.
When I check AW01N, there is a planned depreciation amount for 2008 period 12. However, depreciation has been completed for 2009. If I try to a repeat run for 2008 in test mode there is a value coming up. The issue is posting periods are close. Current financial period is in 2010.
    Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Nadini

The following are the important steps you must keep in mind while closing asset accounting.
    1. Recalculate all asset values AFAR
    2. Run program RAUNVA00
    3. Run program RAANLA01
    4. If you find any unposted assets in step 3 delete them if you do not want in AS06 / AS26 (group assets)
    5. Update your insurance index OAV5 (if necessary)
    6. Run your regular month end closing process.
    7. Reconcile FI-AA with GL accounting - transaction code ABST
    8. AJRW - Fiscal Year change
    9. AJAB - Close fiscal year
    10. reopen the fiscal year OAAQ (if only necessary)
    11. Perform all year end closing steps.
    Thanks,
    Ravi

  • Asset Year End - B/S Issue

    Hi Guys,
We have carried out the year end closing of our company code for the FY 2009  on 20th Jan 2010 in FY 2010. (the transaction AJAB for this company code for 2009 was run on 20th Jan 2010 ).
What happened was, our company has already reported the BS figures ...for 2009.
And when we ran this AJAB, the depreciation difference postings between dep. area 01 and dep. area 02 started appearing on our Balance sheet in SAP for the period 12, 2009.
We want to correct this situation as this contradicts what we have reported and bring back SAP figures in line with the BS figures.
I have done some analysis and the depreciation differences between area 01 and area 02 were posted to the Balance sheet upon running the transaction ASKBN ( periodic postings run : May be AJAB has automatically trigerred this transaction in background and the difference postings for area 25 took place as the dep area 25 was configured to post these periodic postings for the differences ).
However, there is not supposed to be any difference between area 01 and area 02 in FY 2009 and we have corrected this situation in FY 2010 by changing the key of the area 02 to the same key as area 01.
But now, how can we rectify the depreciation differences that got posted on the Balance Sheet ( These were not meant to be like that and by accident, the dep.key for area 02 remained different in FY 2009 ).
Is there any way to reverse the postings that happened for FY 2009 for the depreciation differences between area 01 and area 02.
Thanks a lot.. Any valuable input is greatly appreciated.....

    Hi Paul,
    Thanks for the reply.
I donot understand 1 thing. If i post a FI entry in this particular year 2010, How will it adjust the Balance sheet for 2009 ??
How will this posting affect the 2009 depreciation difference posting ?
Also ... one more thing..I could not understand about the currency conversion that you have mentioned..can you explain a little..
    Thanks again

  • Asset accounting - asset year end closing

    Dear Experts,
For the year 2008 the depreciation was not processed in asset accounting and now i processed depreciation for the total year from 1 period to 16 th periods by keeping FI period 2008 open and documents were posted successfully. Now i want to close the 2008 period for asset acccounting  and i want to open 2009 period for asset accounting .
But i am getting error like Transactions not completely periodically posted. It is taking to 2 paths.
One is Define How depreciation Areas post to General Ledger
Here for my client 3 depreciation areas are there 1) book depreciation 2) Tax depreciation 3) Delta depreciation.
Second is Start APC  Posting Programme: When i try run this programme "i am getting message like there are no documents to be posted"

    Hi,
please read the WIKI guide [Year-End-Closing in Asset Accounting (best practices)|/people/javier.reviriego/blog/2008/07/09/year-end-closing-in-asset-accounting-best-practices].
Even if there are no transaction to be posted, you have to execute the periodic posting run. The run itself will create a protocol entry in any case, if there are values to be posted or not.  The fiscal year close process checks thit protocol entry.
