Grant execute to all custom stored procedures, not quite working
I would like to grant execute permissions on all custom stored procedures to a group and have tried using this:
USE myDB
select 'GRANT EXECUTE ON ['+name+'] TO [mydomain\mydb] ' from sys.objects where type ='P' and is_ms_shipped = 0
It seems to execute without error, I see the full list of stored procedures I've created listed like this:
GRANT EXECUTE ON [procUserInsert] TO [mydomain\mydb]
However the stored procedure I added earlier, which didn't have any explicit rights set for it, does not show that the execute permission has been granted. Other stored procedures, where I had already granted execute to the group, remain as they were (which
is expected). I'm viewing permissions via ssms, selecting the new stored procedure, then properties, permissions. If the grant failed there ought to be an error message...I don't get it. This is sql server 2005.It seems like you were only printing the statement (SELECT), but it is unclear if you executed them.
You could try granting EXECUTE permission at either the DB scope or SCHEMA scope. That would grant EXECUTE on all modules (i.e. SPs, UDFs, etc.) at the chosen scope, including modules created in the future. For example:
-- Grant EXECUTE permission on all DB
GRANT EXECUTE TO [myDomain\mydbGroup1]
go
-- Grant EXECUTE permission on schema mySchema
GRANT EXECUTE ON SCHEMA::[mySchema] TO [myDomain\mydbGroup2]
go
I hope this helps.
BTW. The way you were creating the dynamic SQL for granting permissions to SPs individually is subject to 2nd order injection attacks. You should use quotename(name) in order to escape object names.

Need Help With a Stored Procedure
Help With a Stored Procedure
Hi everyone.
I am quite new relative to creating stored procedures, so I anticipate that whatever help I could get here would be very much helpful.
Anyway, here is my case:
I have a table where I need to update some fields with values coming from other tables. The other tables, let us just name as tblRef1, tblRef2 and tblRef3. For clarity, let us name tblToUpdate as my table to update. tblToUpdate has the following fields.
PlanID
EmployeeIndicator
UpdatedBy
CreatedBy
tblRef1, tblRef2 and tblRef3 has the following fields:
UserName
EmpIndicator
UserID
In my stored procedure, I need to perform the following:
1. Check each row in the tblToUpdate table. Get the CreatedBy value and compare the same to the UserName and UserID field of tblRef1. If no value exists in tblRef1, I then proceed to check if the value exists in the same fields in tblRef2 and tblRef3.
2. If the value is found, then I would update the EmployeeIndicator field in tblToUpdate with the value found on either tblRef1, tblRef2 or tblRef3.
I am having some trouble writing the stored procedure to accomplish this. So far, I have written is the following:
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE Proc_Upd IS v_rec NUMBER;
v_plan_no tblToUpdate.PLANID%TYPE;
v_ref_ind tblToUpdate.EMPLOYEEINDICATOR%TYPE;
v_update_user tblToUpdate.UPDATEDBY%TYPE;
v_created_by tblToUpdate.CREATEDBY%TYPE;
v_correct_ref_ind tblToUpdate.EMPLOYEEIDICATOR%TYPE;
CURSOR cur_plan IS SELECT PlanID, EmployeeIndicator, UPPER(UpdatedBy), UPPER(CreatedBy) FROM tblToUpdate;
BEGIN
Open cur_plan;
LOOP
FETCH cur_plan INTO v_plan_no, v_ref_ind, v_update_user, v_created_by;
EXIT WHEN cur_plan%NOTFOUND;
BEGIN
-- Check if v_created_by has value.
IF v_created_by IS NOT NULL THEN
-- Get the EmpIndicator from the tblRef1, tblRef2 or tblRef3 based on CreatedBy
SELECT UPPER(EmpIndicator)
INTO v_correct_ref_ind
FROM tblRef1
WHERE UPPER(USERNAME) = v_created_by
OR UPPER(USERID) = v_created_by;
IF v_correct_ref_ind IS NOT NULL THEN
-- Update the Reference Indicator Field in the table TRP_BUSPLAN_HDR_T.
UPDATE TRP_BUSPLAN_HDR_T SET ref_ind = v_correct_ref_ind WHERE plan_no = v_plan_no;
ELSIF
-- Check the Other tables here????
END IF;
ELSIF v_created_by IS NULL THEN
-- Get the EmpIndicator based on the UpdatedBy
SELECT UPPER(EmpIndicator)
INTO v_correct_ref_ind
FROM tblRef1
WHERE UPPER(USERNAME) = v_update_user
OR UPPER(USERID) = v_created_by;
IF v_correct_ref_ind IS NOT NULL THEN
-- Update the Reference Indicator Field in the table TRP_BUSPLAN_HDR_T.
UPDATE TRP_BUSPLAN_HDR_T SET ref_ind = v_correct_ref_ind WHERE plan_no = v_plan_no;
ELSIF
-- Check the Other tables here????
END IF;
END IF;
END;
END LOOP;
CLOSE cur_plan;
COMMIT;
END
Please take note that the values in the column tblToUpdate.UpdatedBy or tblToUpdate.CreatedBy could match either the UserName or the UserID of the table tblRef1, tblRef2, or tblRef3.
Kindly provide more insight. When I try to execute the procedure above, I get a DATA NOT FOUND ERROR.
Thanks.Ah, ok; I got the updates the wrong way round then.
BluShadow's single update sounds like what you need then.
I also suggest you read this AskTom link to help you see why you should choose to write DML statements before choosing to write cursor + loops.
In general, when you're being asked to update / insert / delete rows into a table or several tables, your first reaction should be: "Can I do this in SQL?" If you can, then putting it into a stored procedure is usually just a case of putting the sql statement inside the procedure header/footers - can't really get much more simple than that! *{;-) -
Performance problem with java stored procedure
hi,
i developped a java class, then I stored it in Oracle 8.1.7.
This class contains several import of other classes stored in the database.
It works, but the execution perfomances are disappointing. It's very long. I guess, that's because of the great number of classes to load that are necessary for my class execution.
I tried to increase the size of the java pool (I parameter 70 Mo in the java_pool_size parameter of the init.ora), but the performance is not much better.
Has anyone an idea to increase the performance of this execution of my class ?
In particular, is there a way to keep permanently in memory the java objects used by my class ?
Thanks in advance

nullbefore running Java, the database session needs to be Java enabled; this might be the reason why it is taking so long. If this is the case, you should see an improvement in subsequent calls, once a database session is Java enabled, other users can benefit from it.

I have some performance issue with java stored procedure. Hope some one will be able to help me out. I'm using java stored procedures in my application and basically these procedures are used to do some validation and form the XML message of the database tables. I have noticed that when I call the PL/SQL wrapper function, it is taking time to load the java class and once the class is loaded the execution is faster. Most of the time is spent for loading the class rather than executing the function. if I reduce the class load time, I can improve the performance drastically. Do any one of you know how to reduce the class load time. The following are the platform and oracle version.

How to verify the user information pass by the form with a stored procedure?
Hi,
I would like to know how to verify user information pass by the form with a stored procedure.
I want make a portal which accepts to new user registration, but I want verify the new user's informations (like the name don't contain a number etc).
Thanks for your help

jlaHi Samson,
You can use the UI API to do this. You can catch the form_ADD event and then validate the input from the users. You can even block the event from completing (and stop the document from being added) if your code finds some incorrect data using the bubbleEvent functionality.
I don't have one specific example to show you, but if you look at some of the SDK samples (for example C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One SDK\Samples\COM UI\VB.NET\02.CatchingEvents) to see how to work with events, you can then create your own validation to ensure the users data is valid.

How do I merge data from table1 on server 1 to final table on server 2 with a stored procedure to execute every so many hours.
Hello,
If you had configure server2 as
linked server on the server1, you can run the following statement inside stored proceduce to copy table data. And then create a job to the run stored proceduce every 4 hours.
Insert Into Server2.Database2.dbo.Table2
(Cols)
Select Cols From Server1.Database1.dbo.Table1
Or you can use the SQL Server Import and Export Wizard to export the data from server1 to server2, save the SSIS package created by the wizard on the SQL Server, create a job to run the SSIS package.

UCCX 9.0 using CUIC - Accessing Custom Stored Procedure
Hello,
We recently upgraded to UCCX 9.0 to take advantage of CUIC. So far it's been going well but we had a custom report that we used on the old HR client. It was a copy of the Agent Call Summary report that called a different stored procedure. It was easy enough to create for the HR client. The only difference between the SP's is that the custom one doesn't count outbound calls under 5 digits so it excludeds any internal calls. I've tried exporting the Agent Call Summary report in CUIC and importing a new one but I can't get it to change what SP is called. Does anyone have any idea how I can get this to work? I've seen other threads that suggest that a stand alone copy of CUIC Premium is needed but I was hoping it wasn't since it's a fairly simple change.
Thanks,
EricHello,
Any change to the storeprocedure or database access will require the premium version since the standard doesn't have the option to see the report definition.
If you have a LAB of CUIC, it comes with premium version for partners with only 1000 USD, you can use it and export the report and then import it to the customer, this how i usually do for small changes, other than that the customer is required to buy the premium version.

Doesn't sound a good idea in terms of performance or design. OK, what's your query?
The concept is:
create or replace procedure Proc_A (p_phone varchar2)
is
Begin
Insert into Tablec (col1, col2, col3, phone) values (val1, val2, val3, p_phone);
Exception
When no_data_found then
do what...
End;
Create or Replace Procedure Proc_B as
Begin
For i in (select phone_no from customer)
Loop
Proc_A(i.phone_no);
End Loop;
End;
/Once again, I have to say, it's a bad idea. You may well do it within a single procedure or even a single SQL. Tell us your exact requirements and we'll be able to help you

Hi,
I'm new to SharePoint 2013 I want to be able to query a MSSQL database from a SharePoint App I have tried to create an External Content Type (ECT) which is produced from a MSSQL stored Procedure, this procedure has several parameters which are needed to
filter the data correctly. From here I want to produce an external list which I can then query from a c# SharePoint app. If I leave the filters in the ECT null then the list is of course empty or if enter a default values the results are limited
for the app to query so are no good.
I want to dynamically pass values to the ECT when querying from the app, is this not possible. Should I just be returning everything in an external list and then letting the query in the app filter the data, this seems inefficient?
Is this the best way to do this or should I be doing this differently?
Please can someone point me in the right direction.
ThanksHi Pandra801,
When you create a the external content type, please try to add a filter based on your select statement.
http://arsalkhatri.wordpress.com/2012/01/07/external-list-with-bcs-search-filters-finders/
Or, try to create a stored procedure based on your select statement, then create ECT using the SQL stored procedure.

Deploy package with Java Stored Procedure without JDeveloper
I have a set of Java Stored Procedures deployed as a package on a Oracle 8i server. Everything works fine in my development environment, and now I would like to deploy the same package in the customers runtime environment. Both environments are running Oracle 8i rel 2 on NT.
Is there a simple way to use the JDeveloper .prf deployment profile without installing JDeveloper in the customers environment?
If not, can I the get the .jar files and .sql scripts from JDeveloper to create the call specs and package bodys?
I guess JDeveloper must have this information, and my idea was then to write a script using loadjava and SQL*Plus.
Regards,
Tom Bjerreyou would not be able to take just the deployment profile and run it outside JDeveloper.
You would be able to create archive of all java classes in the package using Deployment Wizard in JDeveloper.
Then you can load the jar file using the utilities in 8i.
JDeveloper does generate the SQL for CALL specs etc ., at the deployment time and it is printed in MEssage Viewer along with other information.
Hope that info is useful for you

APEX fails with Java stored procedure that creates a JDBC connection
Hello!
We are facing a strange problem since we have upgraded from Oracle 10g and Apache to Oracle 11g with Embedded Gateway.
Here is what we do:
** APEXX calls a PL/SQL package function "OPEN_CONNECTION" that wraps a Java stored procedure called "openConnection".*
FILE_READER_REMOTE_API.openConnection(user, password, host, port, service);
** The Java stored procedures "openConnection" opens a JDBC connection to an other database:*
public class FileReaderRemote {
private static Connection conn = null;
private static DefaultContext remoteContext = null;
public static void openConnection(String user, String password, String host, String port, String service) throws SQLException {
// Load the Oracle JDBC driver
DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver());
java.util.Properties props = new java.util.Properties();
props.put ("user", user);
props.put ("password", password);
//props.put ("database", "//" + host + ":" + port + "/" + service);
props.put ("database", host + ":" + port + ":" + service);
props.put("v$session.program", "FileReaderRemote2");
// Connect to the database
remoteContext = Oracle.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:", props);
This procedure used to work fine before the upgrade, but now we see the following:
* It still works when called directly from TOAD or SQL*Plus, even under the user ANONYMOUS.
* When called from APEX and the target database is Oracle 11g, it still works.
* When called from APEX and the target database is Oracle 10g, it takes several minutes and we receive this error:
*"Socket read timed out"*
We have tested the following workaround:
We have created a database link to our own database and called the stored procedure through that database link.
FILE_READER_REMOTE_API.openConnection*@loopback*(user, password, host, port, service);
This works, but is not really an option.
I hope some one of you can explain this strange behaviour to me.
Best regards,
MatthiasYou wrote
"Java stored procedures -- by definition - are stored in the 8i rdbms. !!"
From the Oracle8i Java Stored Procedures Developer's Guide
Release 8.1.5
A64686-01
"If you create Java class files on the client side, you can use loadjava to upload them into the RDBMS. Alternatively, you can upload Java source files and let the Aurora JVM compile them. In most cases, it is best to compile and debug programs on the client side, then upload the class files for final testing within the RDBMS"
This means that you can create shared classes that are used on both the client and server side. The source does not need to reside within the server (according to their documentation). Please also note the following from the Oracle8i JDBC Developer's Guide and Reference Release 8.1.5 A64685-01 for using the getConnection() method on the server:
"If you connect to the database with the DriverManager.getConnection() method, then use the connect string jdbc:oracle:kprb:. For example:
DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:kprb:");
Note that you could include a user name and password in the string, but because you are connecting from the server, they would be ignored."
So if you're coding a shared class that is to run on both the client and server side, you might do something like this:
Connection conn =
DriverManager.getConnection(
System.getProperty("oracle.server.version") == null
? "jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostname:1521:ORCL"
: "jdbc:oracle:kprb:"),
"youruserid","yourpassword");
As stated earlier, the userid and password are supposedly ignored for server connections retrieved in this manner. I haven't tried this yet, but it is documented by Oracle.

Steve
