Yellow bar for Other files has eaten my music?

When I connected my iPod Classic to my PC yesterday, iTunes showed the iPod as being connected. My music, podcasts, and playlists were gone. The bar which indicates available memory was yellow and indicated Other files which it had not previously. There were no audio files shown. When I checked my iPod out with My Computer the music files were still on the ipod. How can I get them back where they are usable? My iPod has been locking down some lately.

Sounds like your iPod has problems
Try holding down both the power and home buttons and then connect to your computer for a restore
If that doesn't help. it has hardware problems and it is time to take to the Apple Store for checkup

You can reduce the size to normal, which is about 1GB, by restoring the phone.

The size of this part can increase when something goes wrong during a sync, or some files can't be read anymore by iTunes.

Never mind, I already found the solution myself.
What I did wrong was:
- not copying the master image to the nbi folder
- selecting the netinstall-restore.dmg image as source to copy to my HD.
The thing is, when you create a netinstall image for 10.5, the image itself is already included in the netinstall image so you don't have to do anything else.
With the 10.4 image however, you also have to copy the master image to the NetBootSP0 directory.
In the *.nbi folder contains an netinstall-restore.dmg file. But that is only to boot you to netrestore, it's not the image itself.
Other alternative is to copy the images to another folder that you share with AFP and adjust the configuration of netrestore like described in this manual:

This manual was also how I figured out that I forgot to copy the image to the NetBootSP0 folder.

Recording stopped mas duration for the file has been reached

Has anyone else seen this message, "Recording stopped because the maximum duration for the file has been reached" this is happening on 10.6.2 server and client all updates applied. The File from podcast capture is not saved, it just disappears We are using a Hitachi camera. Any ideas?

I've just experienced the problem myself. I'm using OS X 10.6.3 with QuickTime Player 10.0 (113), capturing audio and video over FireWire from a PAL VHS deck via a Canopus ADVC-55. I'm using the "High" setting to record in QuickTime Player.
Sometimes I'm able to capture indefinitely long amounts of video; sometimes, though, I get a "Recording stopped because the maximum duration for the file has been reached" error after capturing only a few seconds. This variability occurs not only between VHS tapes; it also can occur when using the same source VHS tape (the same parts of the tape, even!) repeatedly.
Apple, this appears to be a QuickTime bug. Please investigate and fix it!

First try resetting the tool by clicking the tiny arrow at the far left end of the options bar and choosing reset tool.
But you should be able to use the arrow keys to navigate through the fonts, too.

Yes, if they are not exclude then TM backs them up.

"share tab on the side bar ..."
iTunes has not had a sidebar for over a year. You can see one (as iTunes 10 used to show) by doing View > Show Sidebar from iTunes' menu.
But I'm not sure if that is your issue. You do not need a sidebar to do home sharing. Are you running the current iTunes (11.1.3)? Have you turned on sharing in Preferences? Have you done File > Turn on Home Sharing?

File path in title bar for CF files only?

G'day
When I have a CFM or CFC file open in the edit window, its full path - relative to the project - is displayed in the title bar of CFB. With any other sort of file, just the file name is displayed.
Now... I seem to recall switching on some "show full path in title bar..." option somewhere, but I'm damned if I can find it now. That aside, if CFB is going to show the full path for CF files, should it not display them for all files?

Progress bar for mp3 files on my Zen Mi

Some mp3 files permit me to scroll through the file to find exact sections that I might want to replay. This is especially great for long files (audiobooks) which I want to pick up where I fell asleep. However, other mp3 files (in fact most podcasted files) just give me a solid progress bar at the bottom, no indication of duration or progress and no ability to scroll. Why? Is there are fix? Nothing seems to be mentioned in any firmware updates.

Anyone???

The "Open With" menu for PDF files has 19 apps listed to choose from.

How do I modify the drop down menu for "Open With" to eliminate about 15 apps suggested for PDF files?

I want to display the native path for "My Music" so my users
know where to find their Music folder if they are trying to find it

There's no substitution being done here. The resolvePath()
call doesn't guarantee that a file exists. If you want to check
that, use the File.exists property.

One Progress Bar for Multiple Files

I am using XML via actionscripts to load image files from the
web server.
The site is a secure ecommerce site so I can not run any
scripts on the server side.
I want to find out the total size of all of the image files
to show a progress bar before I start the download.
So I need a way to request the size of each image file on the
web server???
Any suggestions?

Create a property node for each of the charts. Wire the controlling chart X scale maximum and minimum to the slave X scale max and min. (X Scale -> Range -> Max & Min).

Dreamweaver as custom editor for other file extensions

So, I'm working on a project that requires me to work on some
files with non-standard extensions. Namely, I have some text files
that have a .cm extension, and I have some code files which have no
extension at all. I am connecting to my file store via an FTP
"site" set up in Dreamweaver.
Under preferences->filetypes/editors, I set up ". .cm" for
those two cases, and had selected "Dreamweaver" as the primary
editor.
The files open just fine, and I'm able to edit and save them,
and when I do, the files get "PUT" back up to the FTP server as I
want. However, what I've noticed is that the first time I edit one
of those types of files, and save it, now, from then on in that
session of Dreamweaver, any time I de-focus the window and then
come back to it, the IDE initiates another PUT action of the files
in question, even if the files are unchanged.
However, if I go back into preferences, and remove the
"Dreamweaver" as the primary editor for those two extensions, and
leave that list blank, Dreamweaver still is able to open up the
files as I want, but this weirdness with FTP putting and the
window-focus goes away.
Anyone have any idea why?
