Yellow flashing on my transparent frame when launched with WebStart

Hello,
I am building a mind-map making program, and my app's frame is transparent with two black rectangles on it. When I launch the app through WebStart it blinks yellow on-and-off on my frame for about 3 sec after the frame appears. How can I get rid of this yellow blinking at start-up? Also, when the frame appears a little caution sign is in the top right corner of the frame. Although the yellow blinking quits, this little caution sign still stays. Is there any way to removing the initial yellow blinking and the caution sign? These two "things" really destroy the slick effect I am trying to create with a transparent frame, especially that stupid sign. This happens on both Windows XP and Vista

Jar works different when executed with webstart

Hello, I have a problem when executing an app with webstart. When I execute the jar directly on windows everything works fine, but when I execute the webstart link it executes but not correctly. The application has some timers that don't work. The rest of the application seems to be ok. Anyone has a clue about this problem? Thanks

Flash Pro CC 2014 Crashes When Publishing with Air

While trying to publish my app with Flash Pro CC 2014 the program crashes. I'm using the current Beta version of AIR 15 (previous version had the same results) on a Mac (Yosemite OSX 10.10 beta 5, Not the public beta) . When I publish to just a swf file there is no problems. If I publish to Android, iOS or Desktop then Flash crashes. When the Adobe crash scene comes up I do submit the reports to Adobe. At the end I get a message telling me Adobe found a solution for the recent crash and to "click here" for further details. When I do it just goes to the Adobe home page with no help. Is there a solution or workaround? I've been using one of my other machines that has Mavericks on it for publishing for the time being. I would like to work at one machine and not transferring back-and-forth. Any help will be great!

The updates are available through Creative Cloud desktop app or through in-app update option.
You can also try by launching flash professional CC 2014 version you have installed and go to Help->Updates. This should ideally do it.
Incase, it is not updating after this, can you please let me know the type of Creative Cloud license that you own?
Do you belongs to an environment where Installation / update of applications are managed by IT team? In that case, please check with your IT team for how to get the latest update.

Mounting network drive failing when launched with "crontab"...

Here's my problem:
I have a cron job (domain user) that launch a perl script.
Somewhere in the script, I mount a network drive like this: "/sbin/mount_smbfs //user:pw@machine/path"
I get the following error: mount_smbfs: server connection failed: broken pipe.
-If I ssh to the mac, manually execute the Perl script, no problem, the drive is mounted and I am happy. But it constantly fails if I am not logged in.
As a workaround, I tried to make my user automatically logged in when the Mac restart. But what do you know? Not working with my (domain) user. But it works fine with any other local users.
Any ideas?

Flash button doesn't work when used with Dreamweaver CS4

I am a student trying to learn how to take multimedia elements from one class and put them on a webpage using Dreamweaver CS4. From an online tutorial, I created start/stop buttons with ActionScript3 URLRequest to reference a sound file. The swf works fine when played; it plays from the html generated by flash but when I use Dreamweaver CS4 > insert > media > swf and then preview page in browser (firefox), the button doesn't do anything. When I compare the html page generated by flash to the html created by Dreamweaver, they look completely different. I don't have a clue what to do next.
I have also posted this in the Dreamweaver forum. Please, does anyone have a solution?

What bothers me is that I was able to use Dreamweaver > insert.... swf on a different file with actionscrip2 controls (thanks to help from Ross Ritchey) but this time the swf has actionscript3 code in it and I was wondering if that makes a difference. I don't get any errors, the button shows as clickable, just nothing happens. Thank you for the suggestion, however the flash html but it is so MASSIVE! It makes looking at the rest of the page difficult and I have several sound files I wanted to add to one webpage.

Gnome-terminal ignoring ssh keyring when launched with --maximize flag

So I noticed something weird when I tried launching gnome-terminal with the --maximize flag my keyring for my ssh rsa key stopped working. It would ask for the password, and would still ask for it after I've entered it once. It works fine when I launch it without the option, but I don't see how the maximize flag could do this. Any ideas on why this is happening and how to fix it?

the terminal briefly whines about not being able to open the display and logs me out. Even sudoing the same command doesn't change that.

do the job.
The funny thing is when I add to ~/.xinitrc the line you mentioned it launches. There's no annoying login terminal spouting error messages. Sadly they still exist in the output of tty1. Also some panel widgets like the network widget still aren't working but that I'll go about fixing separately.
I'm just wondering what is wrong. Can someone please help.

Mail unexpectedly quits when launched with Leopard

I just installed leopard, but I tried to launch Mail, i keep getting this message saying that mail unexpectedly quit. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks.

How big is your hard drive, and how full is it?
Did you happen to download any system cache cleaners? Those can damage its ability to function.
Have you tried repairing permissions?
Is your data backed up?
Is Spotlight indexed?
Is the Mail trying to load an IMAP, POP or Exchange account?

X freezes when launched with second GPU

Hey fellow Archers!
I've got a workstation with an AMD FirePro V4900 card that has been running fine with catalyst-test from the AUR for months now. For my current project, I am doing some heavy-duty OpenCL computation, and thus decided to buy the beefier FirePro W5000 and use it as a dedicated OpenCL GPU while keeping the V4900 for running X.
After installing the card and rebooting, X will unfortunately no longer start. It just freezes completely, and cannot be killed with ^C or ^\, not can I switch to another VT with Ctrl+Alt+F*. The only way out is to press the power button and wait for the kernel to forcibly terminate X as a part of the shutdown procedure.
No amount of Googling has led me to a solution to this particular problem, and I've been unable to figure out what is causing this on my own, but here's what I've come up with so far:
- The kernel seems to recognize both cards (lspci: https://jon.tsp.io/share/firepro/lspci.log)
- The driver seems to recognize the chipset of both cards (Xorg: https://jon.tsp.io/share/firepro/Xorg.0.log)
- vgaarb is complaining about PCI devices not being VGA devices, but from what I've read, these messages may just be X probing for graphics devices (boot: https://jon.tsp.io/share/firepro/boot.log)
- X hangs when trying to open /dev/ati/card1 (strace: https://jon.tsp.io/share/firepro/Xorg.trace)
- When running catalyst-test, `aticonfig --lsa` says "No supported adapters detected"
- When running catalyst-firepro, `aticonfig --lsa` only lists the V4900
- Manually adding a Device section in xorg.conf for 6:0:0 makes no difference
I'm completely at a loss at how to fix this, so any and all help is very welcome!

Upon closer inspection, it appears the card may have been dead-on-arrival as not even the BIOS POST screen is visible when using only the W5000.
Will report back once I've gotten my hands on a new card.

Premiere adding repeated frames when overwriting with transitions

Hi,
Having a bit of a problem (software bug?). I work with groups of clips on a timeline with 5 clips for each group (Intro / segment1 / segment2 / segment3 / outtro) and each week we replace 1 or 2 of each segment so we don't have to do a complete re-edit each week (for example one week we may replace segnemt 2 in each group for the new week and keep 1 & 3 intact)
I'm replacing clips on a timeline using an Overwrite Edit while keeping the transitions from the previous clips intact (cross dissolve with center alignment). The new clip is IDENTICAL in length to the previous clip I'm replacing (so "handels" are already there) however Premiere is adding repeated frames to the head of the new clip (so the incoming image freezes up until half way thorugh the transition). One way I found to fix this is using the SLIP tool to drag the new clip to the left and line up the in point of the new clip to where it should be. I'd use this as a fix, however I'm replacing over 300 clips in some instances and it's just not time efficient to slip and tweak each one.
I hope this makes sense.
Anyways, has anyone else encountered this? Is it a bug? Any workarounds?

I hear ya, unfortunately in our case we actually don't have a choice deciding where each scene begins and ends because the first frame of the next clip is the next frame in the animation sequence (we have a tile wall floating with moving images over so the flow between the two clips needs to be seemless.) We use a cross dissolve where the overlapping frames match each other during the transition, so the 5 segments stitched together look like one consistant flow). We do this so we can swap out different content segments each week so we can quickly update rather than spending hours re-building the entire segment each week. If you've ever seen the FirstLook conclusion in the movie theaters before the movie starts, that's what I do Sounds like Ann's solution will work for us in this case.

Dropping frames when capturing with imovie

I have a i7 imac with 8gb ram. it is running snow leopard 10.6.3.
I am trying to capture video with a Sony PD150 camcorder. The camera is daisy chained to a lacie little disk HD, that is plugged to the firewire 800 in the imac. There are 370 gb free in the HD.
I have also I connected the camera directly to the imac with a firewire 800 to 400 adaptor and it is still dropping frames
I keep getting dropped frames all the time. the dropped frames are not always happening in the same part of the tape.
I tried to capture to the external lacie sam hetch HD and to the computer internal disk too.
Is the imac any good for video capture?

Since your camcorder is being recognized, it's obviously not an issue of iMovie not recognizing it, so there is something else going on. I'm not familiar with your model, but a cursory search showed that it could be both digital and tape based? Have you tried to simply hook it up directly (which it should be anyway) and copying the contents of your footage to your desktop and then importing it into iMovie (instead of a direct import into iMovie)? Although this cannot really be used for comparison, I had a problem with my Canon's SDHC cards; after I just used a card reader and it showed on my desktop, all was well and my iMac is much older with a slower processor.

ITunes error when launching with Windows Vista Laptop

The iTunes application could not be opened. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation. How do I resolve this. I reinstalled, I checked permissions for my account, and I checked permissions for the folders. I am using a Windows Vista laptop.

Bug in Flash Professional CC when launching debug launcher xml file handle not released

There appears to be a bug in either Adobe Flash Professional CC, or ADL when launching debug launcher for an AIR application Flash Professional CC automatically generates or updates the XML app descriptor file. The bug is that Flash Professional is not immedately releasing the file handle to the app descriptor XML file.
This bug was introduced in Flash Professional CC (Windows). It did not occur in CS5.5 or CS5.
The question is whether this is a bug related to the ADL, or if this bug is related specifically to Flash Professional CC (Windows).
Either way, where and how do I appropriately report this bug?

Thank you for the solution. It is not what I expected, but it might look like a solution that "could" be applied.
There is still one problem with this approach. If I still use a movie with radial gradient within the bitmap, the same exact problem could occur again.
I was trying to understand if I did something wrong in my code, or it was a bug in the Flash software. I still find weird that I get different results by drawing a movie clip at different positions on a bitmap object. How can the drawing position change if the movie clip is drawn or not drawn? Why does it make mathematical patterns? I guess it has something to do with the precision numbers.
Meanwhile, I did a few extra tests. I tried a new approach with Blur and Glow effects. That is not exactly what I want, but it seems to create a transparent gradient. I might consider this approach if the basic radial gradient does not work. I also created a gradient transparency circle bitmap in Photoshop that I imported into my movie clip. It worked. So, at the moment I have two solutions that seem to be working.
I would appreciate if you could investigate the original problem. It looks like there is a problem in the rendering of Flash. Workarounds are fine sometimes, but I do not expect to developer programs on workarounds.

Cannot Open A Library File Using the 'Option' key When Launching iTunes

I found that when I tried to open a different iTunes library file then my default by using the 'option' key when lanching iTunes that the iTunes Library file was greyed out.
I looked in the previous Library Folder and noticed that the old file had the extension .itl.
My solution was to add the extension .itl to the end of the of the file name of my iTunes Library files and things then worked when launching with the 'option' key. As an example 'iTunes Terry Library' became 'iTunes Terry Library.itl'. I applied this to all my iTunes library filles and all is well. Of course make a duplicate of the file you are going to change so you have a backup file.
I am using iTunes 10.4 and Sno-Leopard 10.6.8.

No, choose library works in Windows. The thread you linked to suggested that, on OSX at least, iTunes now behaves like almost every other application in that you can open a data file associated with the application and it opens that data file rather than a different one it had opened in the past. I was hoping things might have actually changed.
In short, holding shift or option while launching the app is a very clunky way of opening an alternative library given the standard behaviour of the GUI where "opening" a data file normally opens the application that can work with it.

Firefox Flash plugin crashes when FF launched with "Run as different user"

I often start Firefox in Windows 7 (x64) using the "Run as different user" mechanism. After upgrading my Flash plugin to v11 (11.8.800.94), the browser will hang for several minutes when visiting any page that contains Flash content. When Firefox becomes responsive again, scrolling a page with Flash content will cause the app to hang again. Disabling the Flash plugin eliminates the problem.
It seems the plugin is silently crashing -- I'm not alerted to a plugin crash in any way (no dialog or yellow "Flash player crashed" notice at the top of the window), but after FF hangs I will see a new crash report entry in the FF about:crashes list. The plugin does not crash when Firefox is running under the same account that is logged onto Windows interactively -- only when running FF as a different user. For example, if I log onto Windows with user account Adam and launch FF normally, the problem does not exist. If I close FF and launch it as user Bob (shift+right-click Firefox Shortcut, choose "Run as different user"), the problem will appear. However, if I log into Windows as user Bob and launch FF normally, the problem does not exist.
I have tried the following as troubleshooting steps, all to no effect:
Create new Windows user accounts to rule out potential Windows or Firefox profile issues.
Use another PC (also Windows 7 x64). The same behavior occurs on both PCs
Disable AVG antivirus.
Upgrade Firefox to latest version (23.0.1).
Disable Flash hardware acceleration.
Give both user accounts full local admin privileges.
Can anyone suggest something to try next?
Update: Per the troubleshooting instructions at < http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071?tstart=0 >, I was able to eliminate the problem by adding the line
ProtectedMode=0
to my C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg file to disable Flash Player Protected Mode. There are instructions on that page for submitting a Protected Mode-related bug, and I will follow through with that.

Maybe you did't understand my previous statement. There are no crashes in FF 3.6, There is no previous evidence FF 14 was ever here, I completely uninstalled all trace of Firefox, no app data, no preferences, no cache. I will upgrade to FF14 so I can send IDs,
