Yellow Line Down the center of the screen

I have a 2006 17" intel based iMAC running Leopard 10.5.8.
And when I booted it up a yellow line just appeared right down the center of my screen.
I've tried rebooting and zapping the PRAM and running FSCK. I called Apple support and a specialist told me to unplug it wait 30 seconds and restart it. But none of these worked.
Does anyone else have this issue and if so what did you do to fix it.
Oh and my Apple Care Extended warranty JUST expired a month ago.

I've got two of them...out of warranty. They do not go away.
They are annoying. Get the screen fixed while it's under warranty

  • T400s vertical line down the screen - outside of warranty

    Hi
I've had a T400s for just a 2 bit over 2 years now and was always happy with it. I used it mostly with my docking station and have never travelled with it. Now out of the blue one day half the screen was black with a few pixel problems right in the middle with a clear vertical line down the screen. I was perplexed because I was sure no damage whatsoever happened to the notebook.
I googled and it seems to be a common problem:
    A link among others:
"We have about 1200 T400s systems deployed and there has been a higher than normal failure rate with them compared to X301 and T61 systems. Our issues are LCD failure with a vertical line down the screen (very common), Speaker/Audio issues, and DoA systems."

The problem seems to be known:
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-76367
But since the notebook is outside of warranty but it's obviously a manufacturing problem on a (very) expensive notebook, how could I approach Lenovo service center to repair it for me? I have shelled out well over 2'500 Euro for the latest model back then and am a bit disappointed to be honest..
Thanks for any advice on how to approach this!

@tripplec, i don't understand how a Chinese company affects the outcome of the OP's problem? Would IBM do it differently?
Yes, I spent 3 years at a Toronto Bank who bought say 500 systems or so plus notebooks. ThinkPad's and Think Center product. I supported did the warranty work while there. When the warranty was up it was up!! Even if a  lowly optical mouse fail and a number of them did. Too bad nor replacement.
I've delt with IBM, Compaq and HP. There customer relations is entirely at at different level and would and did on  may occasions provide one time post warranty repair even for catestophic issues well after warranty was over. This is a case by case basis. You could reach them and talk to them (locally) and not haveway around the world having no sense of what significance your case it.
There is a difference as was the turn around time  48hrs max and not weeks.

  • My iphone has blue lines down the screen

My iPhone 4 has blue lines down the screen which occasionally change colour. I've tried resetting it and restoring the settings but it is continuing to do this. please help....

To rule out a software issue, set it back to factory settings without using the latest backup.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support
If still lines on the screen, this is hardware related and the phone needs to be serviced:

  • Lines down the screen

My I phone 5s has lines going down the screen and I can't put in my password. How do I fix this problem?

The iPhone warranty is not, and has never been, international.  The phone will have to be physically brought back to the country where it was originally sold new for warranty service.

  • HT201401 iphone 5 has a fine line down the screen

my 2 month old iphone 5 has a very fine black line running down the screen ?

I am afraid that this seems like a hardware fault but there are a few things to try.
First of all, if you have a case or any enclosure of any type on your iPhone, I would suggest removing to confirm that this problem is being caused by anything else (which is unlikely but is typical of what someone in an Apple Store will do first).
If the problem is still there, then reset the software on the phone  - Do this by pressing the Sleep and Home button for a while until the screen goes dark and that Apple logo comes up (typically around 10 - 20 seconds). Once this happens, release the buttons and let the iPhone completes its reboot process (typically around 1 minute.  I hope that this sorts out your problem.
If neither of these solves the problem, then I afraid it does rather look like your iPhone does have a faulty screen - take it back to Apple.

  • My nano has a green line down the screen

My ipod nano is not even a year old and suddenly has a green line down the middle of the display.
I plugged it in to my Mac desktop and restored it using iTunes but that didn't help.

    Could be the graphics card.

  • I have a vertical yellow line down the centre of my iMac g5, is there any way to fix this issue?

Hi, I've seen a few other forum discusions on this issue, and it seems to have been a recurring problem, I'm wondering if Apple have a software patch available for this issue.  Its a vertical yellow line that runs from the top to the bottom of the monitor, other people have spoken about how multiple lines can start appearing once the problem has begun, so I'm concerned that this is going to degenerate.  I recently upgraded the OS to Snow Leopard, so I'm wondering is it possible that this may have been one of the issues that people have come across when updating the OS.

How is it connected?  Have you tried different port?  How about logging in as a different user then trying to mount the drive.

  • My brand new IPhone has a line down the screen.

Nothing has happened to it, I was just using it set it down, picked it back up a few minutes later and boom this line is there?? It also affects the use of the phone. I don't get what could be wrong?

Reset, hold both Home and Power buttons for about 10 seconds until iPhone begins to restart itself, ignore the "slide to power off", let the iPhone restart itself. See if better, if still problem, Restore the iPhone with current iTunes on your computer. See if fixed. If still problem make Genius reservation or set up Service and take or send to Apple for resolution under Warranty.

  • I-Mac crash with vertical lines down the screen

My i-Mac is about 4 years old, running OS-X version 10.8.2.
About 2 weeks ago my system suddenly crashed and the whole screen was filled with vertical lines - alternate blue and white.
Yesterday the same thing happened, except that the vertical lines were alternate red and white.
Both times I turned the desktop off, left it for a minute or two, and then turned it back on again. The system then booted up normally and I was able to access all my applications as normal.
To date my i-Mac has been very reliable but I am a bit worried that this 'crash' problem has now occurred twice. I have kept the operating system up-to-date and am running OS-X 10.8.2.
Could anyone please tell me why this problem is occuring and how I can fix it?
    Thanks in anticipation.

    Thanks for your help.
I have a 24" i-Mac (bought new in 2009), do your comments still apply?'
What do you think could have caused the card to develop this fault? (Currently only internmittent, but it presumably will get worse)?
I will back up my files and go and see my local Apple Store as you suggested, but do you have any idea how much replacing the graphics card on my 24" machine would cost??

  • I reset my IPod touch because there were gray lines don the screen, and now the screen is flickering

I reset my IPod because there were gray lines down the screen, and now the screen is flickering, any ideas?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost (not sure which reset you did)
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

my i phone 5c wont stop restarting!! sometimes it takes hours before the phone starts working again. Sometimes when it does this red lines go up and down the screen. Im so ready to go back to my 4s does anyone know how to fix this??? Should i mention i have tried restarting back to new and i have the most up to date software. Please help

If the center portion of the monitor is flickering then your GPU on the logic is bad or (unlikely given this symptom) that your monitor cable is pinched/damaged.
**Imediately backup ALL your important data while you can still see things on the monitor
Contact Apple for appt. for in shop diagnostics for full examination and for parts replacement
nobody can give you a cost on a repair that isnt fully diagnosed online and cannot be.
perform SMC reset just to check:
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
