Take it to Apple and have them look at it.  A yellow screen is not normal.  Unfortunatley, no one here can help you fix it.  Good Luck

  • Beach ball on startup, screen freezes, hangs

I have been experiencing problems with my iMac, and they have escalated to the point that I can no longer startup my computer without getting the spinning "beach ball" which just hangs there, making the computer unusable.
Prior to this, I would occasionally experience slowness, screen freezes when the mouse moves (see screen shot), and crashes, but other times it worked perfectly.
I'd appreciate any help or advice.

Thanks for the information, I tried both of the solutions you offered.
I was able to repair the hard drive and permissions without any errors.
In safe start mode makes my computer behave properly -- no issues at all and the speed is great.  I checked the Login items and turned all off.  (Nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary -- iTunes helper, iOmega HD, and a fan speed control item*)
When I restart after being in safe mode, the startup screen is white for a while, then goes to this new screen which I haven't seen before (greenish yellow w/ pixelated blocks across the bottom. (see screen) and hangs there.  (No login screen.)
    * This iMac is the one that has a problem overheating.  The fan controller isn't a new addition.

  • Theres something wrong with my mac! Help! It said that it had a virus and then the browser wouldn't open! I tried to restart my computer but it wouldn't work, so I held down the power buttron. The startup screen is there but nothing else happens'!

So yesterday I went to do some work on my laptop.
My laptop is from about 2005-2006 so it's pretty knackered. Everything was going just fine but then my Avast! Security software notified me saying "VIRUS DETECTED" so I tried to go on the avast application but it wouldn't open. I tried to open my browser but the icon just bounced and stopped and them nothing happened after! So i clicked on the apple sign and clicked shut down.  Then the system wouldn't shut down. So i held down the power button causing it to shut itself off. The next day I opened the laptop and turned it on. It made the healthy turning on noise and I can hear the fan working perfectly fine. The startup screen is showing. This is an all grey screen with the Apple logo in the middle and a spinning circle in the middle, the circle has been spinning for over 10 minutes now and I do not know what to do. I use this laptop for literally everything and I cannot possibly afford to replace this . I am hearbroken as I know that there is a possibility that I will no longer be able to use this laptop.
I would be extremely grateful if someone helped me as I am truly devastated. :(

  • How to get rid of the SAP BPC "three globes" startup screen?

    Hi,
I am trying to figure out how to get rid of the SAP BPC "three globes" startup screen when we start BPC. I do not want it to pop up.
I looked at VBA behind the workbooks but could not find anything. Could not make the sheet invisible.
Is there a way to get rid of the screen? This is the screenshot

Just found the answer on this very forum!
Re: How to change the logo, (3 Globes) on the launch page

OK then, now v7sp03 for microsoft has hit the shelves, you can change the logo !!!
    It is quite easy.
Have the logo file ready in either BMP, GIF or JPG format.
Put it in your "Server Install -> DataWebFolders[Appset]" folder (so where you keep your files).
In ApplicationSet parameters, add the parameter COMPANY_LOGO and in the options type the name of the file you just put on the server.
Now if you restart BPC for Excel, the second excel page that pops up should be showing your new logo or graphic (mine did).
The use of the logo has been documented in the admin manual -> working with appset parameters
    Some tips.
I wanted not to clutter the filesystem so i put my logo in the appsetpublications folder and added the path accordingly in the parameter (so now it reads appsetpublicationslogoname.jpg instead of just logoname.jpg).
If you do not supply a name (only the parameter), your second Excel window (normally holding the graphic) will not appear. That could be an alternative too if you find that whole thing annoying.
Hope this helps you build great BPC apps,

  • 2011 i5 Mac mini no startup screen, but computer starts fine...

I just got a new Mac mini MC815 i5 2.3 Ghz a few monrhs ago, and I added 8 GB of RAM and a 750GB 7200 HD then did a fresh install of Lion 10.7.4 a few weeks ago. When I use the Mac mini on any normal 24" Acer PC LCD via HDMI to DVI adaptor or Thunderbolt/Display port to VGA adaptor the Mac mini boots normal. I see the Apple logo and and spinning wheel for about 35-40 seconds and then see the desktop like normal.
As long as I use the mini on a PC LCD panel, there is no problem. When I try to connect the mini to a 32" or 42" television via direct HDMI cable... the colors are all screwed up. I see the apple boot logo, but it is green instead of grey. I tried 2 different TVs and 2 different HDMI cables. Both TVs are 1080p capable and work fine with Windows 7 PCs over HDMI or VGA at 1920x1080@60 or lower. The TVs have 2 HDMI inputs and 2 VGA inputs, so I have to use the VGA adapter. (can't use DVI)
I used the Thunderbolt/Display port to VGA adaptor and the colors are fine. All resolutions work, but I nomrally use 1280x720@60 so I can see the icons better from across the living room. Anyhow everything works perfectly with VGA, except there is no startup screen or logo and it takes a long time to boot after the chime. The TVs are blank and say "No Signal". I timed it with my watch on several occasions and it takes between 90 seconds to 2.5 minutes to boot to the desktop, but the TV says no signal while it is waiting. After the desktop finally comes up, all is well.
I tried 1920x1080, 1280x720, 1366x768... still the same problem. Slow boot, no bootup screen or logo but after boot is finished, everything shows on the TV and fits in the frame (no underscan problems) and the color is normal. The computer is fast and responsive. If connect the mini to a normal 24 inch Acer LCD to VGA I see the logo and it boots in 35-40 seconds.
Any ideas here? Do you think the mini is displaying the startup screen at an unsupported resolution and that is why the TV is blank? After the boot sequence, it finds the proper refresh rate or size then finally shows up? Or do I have 2 bad TVs? Or 2 bad Thunderbolt/Display port to VGA adaptors?
When I hook my 2011 2.3 GHz Macbook Pro (same 8GB RAM and 750GB HD upgrade on it too) to the Thunderbold/Display port to VGA, I don't have this problem at all. When I turn on the Macbook Pro, the Macbook screen shows the grey logo and the TV shows a grey screen until it is fully booted. However, the Macbook Pro also cannot use the Thunderbolt/display port to HDMI adapters either, the colors are usually green.
Anyone else have this problem with their 2011 Mac minis? I want to solve this problem before I buy a second mini for the bedroom TV. When I use my Windows 7 PCs via HDMI or VGA, I have never experienced these problems.

First -254 which happens right away. From googling a bit I've discovered this may have to do with having chosen the drive as opposed to the volume as source/target.
So selecting these (but being confused as to how the recovery partition could be included in the restore if I choose only the boot volume and not the boot drive) the restore began. However it stopped after a few minutes complaining about an "input/output error". No further information given.
Sorry, my instructions may have been too vague. Yes, when you boot into the Recovery HD on your internal HD and use the Disk Utility Restore you need to specify the Source and Destination as a volume (e.g. Macintosh HD). Don't select the drive. And make sure the SSD is formated correctly.
With Disk Utility's Restore it does a block level copy so it's like creating an "image" in the PC world (e.g. Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image). This means you get ALL visible and hidden partitions copied over and bootable. With CCC you get a bootable clone of your OS/Apps/Data, but you can't boot to a Recovery HD on that clone. There is none. So, when you clone back to an internal drive, CCC has the Disk Center feature to create a Recovery HD on your internal drive. Disk Utility's Restore, however, clones both OS/Apps/Data and the Recovery HD to your internal drive without having to execute a 2nd step.
Which Intel 520 Series SSD did you install? I have an Intel 520 Series 120GB SSD installed in my Mac Mini in the bottom slot (closest to the bottom opening) and my stock 500GB HDD in the upper slot (in the drive bracket).

  • IPhone 5 will not boot up past startup screen after attempted update to iOS 8. Not recognized by computer.

Like everyone else today, I attempted to make the move to iOS 8, using my Mac's iTunes. All was running smoothly, the progress bar was nearing the end when I received the error that "the iPhone software update server could not be contacted." With a now useless phone, I restarted it, hoping for the best as I could do nothing. I am now stuck with a phone which will turn on to the white startup screen and black Apple Logo, then instantly shut down, leaving me to repeat the process. If I hold down the home button, I can enter what seems to be "Recovery Mode," with a red iTunes Logo, as opposed to the usual blue. From here, all internet sources I have found suggest that I should restore the phone, but that's really where I hit the problem. When I plug the phone in, when in Recovery Mode, I simply receive the "iPhone software update server could not be contacted" error again, leaving the phone not recognized by iTunes. In non-recovery mode, the phone appears to simply turn off so fast that iTunes has no time to find it.
Any one with similar problems or solutions?

    This what happened to my iPhone 5 after I updated to iOS 8.0;
The update process was done smootly without problems thru
    Over the Air.
Now when I cold start/boot my iPhone 5, my apple logo appears as it was
in iOS 7, but after 30 seconds or so, my Apple Logo dissappears the
screen goes black for 5-6 seconds, but then viola! I am at the Log-On
screen... Then I start using my iPhone.
Just like Chris above, I have done 10 reboots, (complete shut down and
    restart), its always the same...
Other than this, my iPhone works just fine. I will not re-install the iOS.
From my past experience, re-installing the iOS does not change
    these minor differences...

  • Itouch stuck on startup screen-please help!

My itouch has been stuck on the startup screen since last night; first I tried letting it charge, and after 30 minutes with no results I unplugged it, let the battery drain completely and started again. After another hour of charging with no results I tried restarting it, again with no results-upon restarting it returned to being stuck on the startup screen. This morning I tried letting it drain again and it became extremely hot until it turned off again. A while ago I plugged it into my computer, hoping to reset and restore it, but it is now, once again, stuck on the startup screen. It's not even being recognized by iTunes or my computer. My ipod is NOT jailbroken btw. Please help!! I don't think I can go on much longer without my music lol

What do you mean by startup screen?
    Try here:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
An appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is likely in order since the hotness tends to indicate as hardware problem.

  • Windows 7 boot camp screen goes black after windows startup screen!!!!!!

A few days ago when I tried to start my MacBook Pro in windows 7 (enterprise) I encountered a completly black screen after the startup screen.
    1) Choose start in Windows 7 from boot camp menu (holding option after starting up computer)
    2) Windows start up screen would appear and finish
    3) For a very brief second my cursor pointer would appear and login screen would flash onto the screen, then the screen would go black
    BUT
I CAN boot windows 7 in safe mode
The computer is still on when screen goes black (fan still running and i can use keyboard commands to shut down the computer)
I've been searching the Internet for DAYS to no avail
PLEASE someone help me....... ive already tried the sfc /scannow and dskchk commands in the command prompt window

Win 7 Enterprise is not supported by Boot Camp, you may or may not get it to work reliably, (I would not bother to try)
Read this document then pick a supported version of Windows for your Mac.

  • MacBook Pro frozen on startup screen with progress bar and then it turns off

    Hello, I have a MacBook Pro 15" of early 2012 with a i5 Intel, 4GB of RAM  and a  500 GB HD.
I was installing the new suit of Adobe, when suddenly my Mac got frozen, vertical coloured lines appeared and the image on screen went distorted. I had to reboot the Mac by holding the power button until the screen turned off and when I turned it on, the lines appeared again and it itself automatically rebooted. Then the screen (now with no vertical lines) got frozen on the startup grey screen with the apple logo and the spinning wheel for hours with no response.
I tried to follow the steps of the official mac forums like verifying the HD with CMD+R and then Disk Utility, it says everything's fine; the same happens with CMD+S, no errors. I reinstalled Mavericks with the same CMD+R. I already reset the PRAM, SMC  and performed a Safe Boot staring up in Single user mode and Verbose Mode and nothing, the same startup screen. I made too thins thing of holding shift until the progress bar appeared.  Three days later (Today) I repeated the steps again and finally the verbose mode. Now, when I turn it on, the startup screen appears again (Apple Log and spinning wheel) with a progress bar. When it completes, the Mac turn itself off.
if you can help me, please. I don't know what else to do. The last thing is technical service.

  • Boots to windows startup screen, flashes blue screen, restarts and repeats

    HP ENVY H8-1414 Product #H3Z00AAR
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Alright, so here is my issue. I turn on my pc and it gets as far as the windows startup screen, flashes a blue screen error for about half of a second and then restarts it self. My HDD is recognized in the bios. Tried a memory test in diagnostics and it passes.  Tried a hard disc check and it passes the SMART check but fails the Long DST with a failure ID of 0GF21L-0006LR-WPVX0K-61C703 (no idea if those a zeros or O's)
I've also tried the startup repair but it did nothing. So I removed the hard drive and tried to use it in a different PC but had the same issue so I figured the hard drive went bad. Then I tried formatting a spare hard drive and installed a fresh copy of windows 7 on it, tried it on a different PC and it works just fine. However, when I try to use that hard drive on the HP ENVY I get the exact same problem even though it worked just fine on a differenct pc.
I purchased this PC refurbished about 3 months ago, the warrenty just ended a week ago.  There have been no hardware or software changes on it at all. This thing worked flawlessly last night... I locked the computer before bad and I woke up to this. No power outages over night or anything. It just doesn't make any sense.

Here are the specs for your HP ENVY h8-1414 Desktop Computer. According to the specs, this model came from the factory with Windows 8 installed. The "blue screen" and restart are normal for Windows 7, when it encounters an error, unless you have altered the default settings.
The LONG DST failure is indicative that the hard drive has failed or is about to fail. Unless the hard drive is moved to an identical or very similar computer, Windows will encounter a "blue screen. This is true with the original hard drive moving from the h8 computer to the other computer and the test hard drive from the other other computer moving to the h8 computer.
Try placing the "test" hard drive in the h8 computer and installing Windows 7 from a DVD or USB stick. If you have any problems, please post back with full error messages and screen shots. Also indicate what stage of the install Windows 7 was doing tat the time.
    Please send KUDOs

  • Apple Yellow Tint Screen

    Hi,
I know that this problem been discussed previously here, I bought my iphone from the UK and been using it for a few months and it was perfectly fine. Now I buy a new iphone in Dubai and the screen is yellow tinted!
I am really unsatisfied with the yellow tinted screen. The question I want to ask is, am I entitled to get a new iphone? I went back to the store exactly two hours after I bought it and they refused to replace it for me, claiming that this is Apple Policy
    Thanks,

  • MacBook Pro Frozen At Apple Startup Screen

I have a MacBook Pro that freezes at the Apple startup screen, here's how the problem occurred and is quite unique among scenario's out there:
The problem occured after I upgraded (bought) to a new MacBook Pro and switched out the hard drive from the old Mac to the new (it was an easy swap)
There where no prior problems with the old Mac.
The hard drive has 2 partitions, one running OS 10.8.5 and the other running OS 10.6.(something - cant' remember)
10.8 started up fine after the switch. 10.6 did not (and still does not)
The drive is a brand new OMC solid state SATA drive.
I've run 'Repair Disk Permission' and 'Repair Disk' in First-Aid in Disk Utility from the 10.8 side on the 10.6. Reports everyhing is OK.
I've searched this forum, as well as throughout the web, trying the many solutions related to "mac frozen at apple screen" - literally almost tried them all to no prevail.
I am considering wiping the disk or starting in Recovering mode and restoring from a time machine back-up but thought I would ask here first..
    Details of the new Mac:
    MacBook Pro
    13-inch, Mid 2012
    Version 9,2
Both old and new Macs are completely identical apart from the upgraded components in the new.
Please help, I am completely STUMPED on what to do!
