Yellow Tint.  Help!

I'm a pro-photog who just swapped to iMac.  The screen appears to have a serious yellow tint.  Any advice on how to fix this?  When I edit images on my PC, they are totally accurate, color wise.  I know this bc I've been ordering prints for 3 years based on the editing done on that computer.  This is driving me crazy.  Can anyone help?  Keep in mind...I'm brand new to Mac, so detailed steps would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Are you using any software/hardware to calibrate the display on your PC? Have you verified that your iMac is set to the default display profile? To do so, open the System Preferences in the dock or by pulling down the Apple menu in the upper left corner and selecting System Preferences. Click on the Display preferences, and then select the Color tab. The default display profile should be listed as 'iMac'. If you see anything else then at some point you or someone else selected a different profile or calibrated the display.
When you open a mail window, or any other window, do the white areas also appear yellow, or is the issue only affecting the images you've previously worked with on your PC? What happens if you import images directly from your camera without doing any prior editing on your PC? I am trying to understand whether there is an issue with the iMac itself, or calibration diferences between your PC and the iMac.
You can perform a basic display calibration by clicking on the Calibrate button shown in the screenshot above. It will walk you through all of the steps. It would be helpful to see whether creating a custom display profile helps resolve your issue.

  • Yellow Tinted Screen?

I just got my Mini, hooked up a ViewSonic VA720 LCD to it, and the screen has a yellow tint to it. I can't get rid of it after calibrating the display. When I connect the display to my other non-Mac computers, it displays in normal color, without the tint. Any ideas? I am using the DVI to VGA connector that came with the Mini. Thanks for any help.

Thanks Tim! When I go to the Apple Store, I'm assuming I should bring the CPU and the adapter...I've tried a few times, plugging things in in different order, and nothing seems to be working. There is also some horizontal 'streakiness', especially after things on the screen that contrast sharply, going from left to right. Hopefully an Apple Genius can get 'er working right soon.

  • Screen has yellow tint

Whenever I turn my imac on it has a yellow tint. I've done the color calibration. Sometimes it'll turn back to normal, but when I shutdown/sleep and turn it back on it'll turn yellow again. Then other times when I do the color calibration, it won't even change, the screen will still have a yellow tint. I have no idea how this happened. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi there,
First, make sure your iMac is or is not on the Apple Repair Extension program: http://www.apple.com/support/imac/repairextensionprogram/ this addresses some video and power issues...
The only way I can make my screen slightly yellow or amber is through calibrating the display while in expert mode:
System Preferences > Displays > Color... from here pick any Display Profile to Calibrate, CHECK the box for Expert Mode, continue without changing anything till you reach 'Target White Point', you should check the box 'Use Native White Point', continue and SAVE AS a new profile name... this should get you back to nuetral white... if this fixes the problem you can always go back and calibrate this profile and tweak any settings you wish

  • Yellow Tint issue

I know this isn't the first thread on the yellow tint issue, but I've had some strange experiences that need to be addressed.
    http://lh5.ggpht.com/TLglqt0-RdM/SVlOWBinyjI/AAAAAAAAArM/ZjMXtH60po/s640/P10306192.JPG
See, when I first started using this iPhone (bought it from a friend) it seemed fine. Then moments upon boot, I started noticing this feint flickering, each time it flickered (as it still does) the screen would be "brighter" but not by the normal brightness settings... and it had a yellow tint to it compared side-by-side of my normal other iPhone.
So I explored more, and since they have both already been opened before, I reopened them and tested a theory. If this iPhone has a yellow screen, maybe the screen needs replacing. I take them both apart, swap the screens, and voila!...... still Yellow?! Hmm, so the screens not the problem...
Now I'm even more puzzled, because I'll just be staring at the flickering, so faintly but distinguishable. And if I catch the right moment for a split second it flashes totally normal, then back... its so brief, but does this mean theres software fix potential in this?
I know nothing about what to do next. Apple, the Community, someone point me in the right direction. Obviously the reason I seek help is because these iPhones have been opened before, but only to switch screens and never deeper. Does this honestly count as a warrant breach or can this be considered justifiable to replace a cracked screen on your own?
    Thanks for your help!

You are absolutely right there is a difference and I have not read the small print. I'd put money on it tho. That said you may be lucky in that they'll help you even if you have defaced it.

  • Update on Yellow tinted iPhone 4

I talked to a senior advisor and she said that the refurbished replacements (5K) are all yellow tinted and they can't figure out why.  She even told me they receive calls every day about it.
    Email me at [email protected]
For help on this and how to find one that is not yellow tinted.

    Hi Traveltheworldwithkids,
If I'm understanding your question, it sounds like you are being prompted to transfer a copy of the purchases (apps, music, etc.) that you have on your iPhone to your Mac.

  • Yellow Tinted Documents

    Hello,
We are having trouble with our hp Scanjet 7000.  When we scan colored documents, they turn out with a yellow tint and some thin black lines.  However, when we scan in pure black and white, our documents come out in crisp black and white color.  Any advice would help.
    Thank you!

I just exchanged my 3g Black 16 gig iPhone due to a yellowish screen. My new replacement came with the (5A437) version. It is still a bit yellow but now the contrast is off making the text blurry and gray. I have another 3g white 16 gig with the (5A435) version which has no problems. The color is very rich and has deep blacks. I hope the is a way to correct this in the future. Upgrading the version does nothing. This is my 4th replacement phone and I am sick of making trips out to the Apple Store every week.

  • IPhone 3Gs has a color temperature display is warmer, or yellow-tinted

    All greetings!
My new iPhone 3Gs has a color temperature display is much warmer, or yellow-tinted compared to the my iPhone 3G.
It is a defect of my iPhone 3Gs?
Here you can see it: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2415/2660565874_ef8a841a20.jpg

I recently bought a 3Gs and compared to my old 3G there's a hug difference! my 3Gs looks really yellow! I went to Apple store at the florida mall to verify if this was normal, brought my old 3G with me so they could notice the difference,so I made the appointment and when the so called "apple genius" saw my phone he noticed the difference and took my phone to change it to the back of the store, he came back in 3 minutes claiming that he changed my phone, when I looked at it,same yellow display I said to the guy that the display looks the same but he never gave me any other option, on my way out from the store i checked the info on the phone but it was the same IMEI as the one in the box, how could this be? if they supposedly change the phone, I asked to speak to a manager and explained to her my situation, the "genius" that "helped me" told the manager that what he did was only changing the display and since I didn't like it,he went back and put back again the display that came with the phone... at this point I got really upset and I asked the manager to speak to the "genius" and asked why he lied about the situation, the manager said that she would bring the guy so we could settle this situation, they left me waiting on the store 45 minutes and none of them showed up... Great Apple store service... Yeah right!! F#$%^ them!

  • Yellow tint; How to export

Hi I have two very important questions,
    1. When I open a picture with white background in Photoshop, Picasa, Windwos Viewer, or online, the background is white. When I open it in lightroom, it's got a yellow tint, like a ight sepia effect, and some bloom or other effects seem to be applied to the image. While this is certainly a nice effect, I would like to know how to turn this on/off.
    2. When I right click a picture and click export, no post-processing (everything I did under "Develop") is saved along with the image, I only get the original picture. I know that LR works with virtual copys/Catalogs and only saves metadata thus not actually editing my original. But still how do I apply the changes I made in LR? I even tried exporting a catalog and a web slideshow, but always only the original picture gets exported. I shoot in RAW (CR2) format.
    Please help me!

Thank you Jao vDL, that was indeed the problem!
By the way I have a Samsung monitor. I searched the internet and it seems many people have problems regarding this

  • --- •• WORKING WHITE BALANCE FOR YELLOW TINT Z1 ••

    Hello Guys,
I'm here to bring some HOPE for those users who won, I mean who got Z1 from the lottery yellow tint issue. I am an XDA user since then and I found a thread saying that the Japanese version of Xperia Z1 SO-01F got white balance settings yesterday and the OP ported it to our Z1 C69xx !
I installed it and CONFIRMED ITS WORKING. Results are farm different from Screen Adjuster app from playstore and such where blue is really noticeably. Navigation bar also changes using this. Although I'm wondering why it has different sliders compared to those on Xperia Z (Hue and Saturation), it will give you a peace of mind that the nightmare has ended.
    Here are some screenies:
You need to be ROOTED to have this, no other way. It's flashable through CWM but if you are just ROOTED and doesn't have CWM installed, you can just push the files to the folders and change permissions. (tell me if you need help on this one)
Here's the original thread with the download link from XDA :

If you're an XDA member, don't forget to hit THANKS to him. Don't forget to give Kudos   and / or mark the correct answer
It would be much better still if Sony will provide an official solution for this headache issue.
Reply with results you got or problems you encountered installing, Ill help. That's all. Enjoy.
    Solved!

Yes, we will add a setting for white balance in an upcoming version of the phones software planned for the beginning of next year (see my response here: http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z1/Xperia-Z1-C6903-Display-Issue-Yellow-Hue-Tint/td-p/391521/pa...).
I don't have any Japanese unit so i can't confirm if it has been added there already and what it looks like though.

  • Yellow Tint

My Macbook's screen seems to have a yellowish tint to it - yes, the entire screen. When displaying any white image or website, like Google or even this very support forum, the white is noticeably yellow. My girlfriend also has a Macbook and I've compared them. Her whites are genuinely white when side by side with mine, so I know I'm not just paranoid. I thought it could be an issue with my Display Profile but we are both using the exact same profile, "Color LCD", as I'd like to stick with what it came with and what I've been using for over a year. The other profiles seem too blue, anyway. I digress, though.
My Macbook is only about a year and a half old and this really bothers me. Any help would be appreciated.

    OK, I'll reply.
My MacBook has the LG-Philips LP133WX1-TLA1 LCD panel, and to me it is a bit on the red/yellow tint side for my liking, even after using the System Preferences / Displays / Calibrate settings. Qualitatively just by eye, the LP133WX1-TLA1 display looks like it is optimized for video. The white on my MacBook looks about the same shade as white on my Sony TV when the TV is set to, "NTSC Standard," color temperature.
Apple has used several different LCD panels in MacBooks, so your results may vary. It seems like many other computer monitors are set to very hot color temperatures and are very biased to emphasize blue. The MacBook may be getting color temperature right, but looks reddish compared to everything else.
I have other grumbles about MacBook displays that annoy me more: narrow viewing angle, they're really only 18 bits color depth (they dither to get 24 bit; dither method varies by manufacturer), some have cathode bleed - the bottom of part of the display looks washed out. The display in my MacBook is pretty good on cathode bleed, but I have seen other MacBooks where cathode bleed is strong.
The new notebooks that have LED back lit displays look really great - MacBook Air and various Windows-compatible notebooks. Technology is always getting better; I've enjoyed my MacBook anyway, despite its few quirks and limitations.

  • Yellow tint PROBLEM FW+AI+PS

    Hello,
I am having a serious problem with kuler panel in FW, AI, PS
and with search field in FW + AI.
    http://www.designme.sk/junk/omg.png
Cant see the kuler colors as they should look like, because
they are covered with yellow tint (looks like 50% alpha).
This was happening on with my old graphics (geforce 8600gt),
but happens with new (radeon hd4670) one also. Latest drivers,
latest updates, lates everything.. So I reinstalled windows, sp3,
windows update, new drivers, clean CS4 install.. Same freakin
thing. Can anyone tell what is the problem here? I am using
download version cs4 design premium english.

    @designme.sk,
I am curious... did you use calibrated device to help correct
color management problem in your monitor? If no, I recommend that
you should consider to invest in one of those nice
professional-quality calibrated device. In many case, having
corrected color profile set up in your monitor, then workflow
working with your project with "the right color profile" in right
approach, the right way of managing color management.
As you probably already know how important color management
is, so I don't have to go into that further.
    Hope that helps.
    Cheers, DWD

  • IPhone 5s yellow tint in camera roll

I got a new 5s over the holidays specifically because I wanted a better phone camera before our new baby comes.  However, my phone takes REALLY yellow photos.  Even when I try to color correct, they are significantly yellowed.  I downloaded the Photoshop app, and the simple act of opening a photo in Photoshop fixes the yellow tint, even without applying any filters or color correction.  Can anyone help?  I'm happy to have at least a temporary solution, but having to consistently edit every photo I take with my phone seems redundant.  Especially when this seems to be some issue with the camera or camera roll?

Ok, so I figured it out.... I must have selected a filter in my camera roll at some point, and it just kept taking pictures with that filter.  I think it's REALLY dumb that the default isn't NO FILTER.  Plus, there's no batch edit, so I've got over 100 photos with yellow tint that I have to fix one at a time.  *sigh*  Anyway, I thought I'd post the resolution for anyone else having the same problem I did who might be searching for an answer.

  • Yellow tint fix (maybe)

I just spotted an article about the Yellow tint of the new iPhone. Seems that if you do a full restore you get a more recent firmware than the one shipped with the phone. As a result that the yellow tint is fixed. I haven't tried it yet but it can't do any harm.
