Yellow Tint issue

I know this isn't the first thread on the yellow tint issue, but I've had some strange experiences that need to be addressed.
http://lh5.ggpht.com/TLglqt0-RdM/SVlOWBinyjI/AAAAAAAAArM/ZjMXtH60po/s640/P10306192.JPG
See, when I first started using this iPhone (bought it from a friend) it seemed fine. Then moments upon boot, I started noticing this feint flickering, each time it flickered (as it still does) the screen would be "brighter" but not by the normal brightness settings... and it had a yellow tint to it compared side-by-side of my normal other iPhone.
So I explored more, and since they have both already been opened before, I reopened them and tested a theory. If this iPhone has a yellow screen, maybe the screen needs replacing. I take them both apart, swap the screens, and voila!...... still Yellow?! Hmm, so the screens not the problem...
Now I'm even more puzzled, because I'll just be staring at the flickering, so faintly but distinguishable. And if I catch the right moment for a split second it flashes totally normal, then back... its so brief, but does this mean theres software fix potential in this?
I know nothing about what to do next. Apple, the Community, someone point me in the right direction. Obviously the reason I seek help is because these iPhones have been opened before, but only to switch screens and never deeper. Does this honestly count as a warrant breach or can this be considered justifiable to replace a cracked screen on your own?
Thanks for your help!

You are absolutely right there is a difference and I have not read the small print. I'd put money on it tho. That said you may be lucky in that they'll help you even if you have defaced it.

  • Yellow tint! the 3rd Screen of my iMac 27, it's getting worse and worse...

Hi everyone not sure if there is anything more i could do with this, I have a 2010-13 week iMac, it came with a 'bearable' yellow tint problem from the beginning, after a hard drive failure i had to send my iMac back to Apple care, i was hoping the screen problem had been solved so I asked them to replace my screen as well, it came back with a worse panel showed much larger area of yellow tint...
Then I decided to wait for a few months until a week ago before my holiday i called for another exchange, was hoping for a perfect screen after my holiday, now holiday is over and iMac is back, just right after I pressed the power button, the start up screen with apple logo clearly tells me that i have got a even more disgusting panel - the worst of all i have to say, a new uneven shadow line on the bottom plus the usual yellower tint spreads over the middle of the screen, oh yes, they decided to make it even worse, a big dead spot as well in the corner ....
after a few hours, when i was editing a photo in Aperture, I have discovered something even more disturbing, from right edge of the screen inwards there is around 8cm wide vertical band shows obvious brighter tone than the rest of screen...
I do a lot of black & white photography plus a lot 3D graphic work, for a while I had tried to live with the yellow issue until it got really frustrating - now i have to once again arrange an exchange as this one is just unbearable!
Is this really Apple? Hard drive failed after a year and this is the 3rd screen of the iMac, and it just gets worse...
I wonder if there's anyone who had the luck to get the yellow screen replaced by a decent one?

Are you talking about a mid-2011 iMac or a 2010 iMac?
As it seems, the issue of color inconsistency of the iMac display is far from solved. Yellow tint, uneven brightness, light-leaks are very easily found even of newer models. I have a two-week-old mid-2011 27-inch iMac that I tried to replace for a new one because of yellow tint issue. It turned out that the replacement iMac had a worse screen... So I kept the first one. Not sure if the right thing to do is just get the screen replaced. It seems users have done it with no success...
So, I guess these problems are structural on the iMac line. They seem very much to be omnipresent. And I don't see Apple offering a genuine/trustworthy solution through its in-warranty support.

  • 2010 21.5 iMac anyone get one not yellow tinted

I made the mistake of looking at the forum before picking up the base 21.5 iMac and all i see is the yellow tint issue
Then i googled and it looks like a real issue impacting most 21.5 iMacs. . . .seriously ?
I realize this is the er of issues but it seems larger than that
So any good 2010's out therE ?
    Tia

I had the 21.5" iMac for a couple of weeks. Decided I really wanted the 27" so back the 21.5" went.
Mine had a very yellowish tint in the bottom-right corner (4th quadrant) that radiates to the center of the display. It was so bad and extremely annoying when working with photos. My observation is from a person who's an avid DSLR photographer. It's less annoying when looking at the browser (surfing the Web). Depending on your use, you may or may not overlook this issue if you have it on yours. YMMV.
Do realize that my experience is in no way, shape, or form representative of all 21.5" iMacs. Just my personal experience with the one I had. BTW, it was ordered from the Apple online store.

  • --- •• WORKING WHITE BALANCE FOR YELLOW TINT Z1 ••

    Hello Guys,
I'm here to bring some HOPE for those users who won, I mean who got Z1 from the lottery yellow tint issue. I am an XDA user since then and I found a thread saying that the Japanese version of Xperia Z1 SO-01F got white balance settings yesterday and the OP ported it to our Z1 C69xx !
I installed it and CONFIRMED ITS WORKING. Results are farm different from Screen Adjuster app from playstore and such where blue is really noticeably. Navigation bar also changes using this. Although I'm wondering why it has different sliders compared to those on Xperia Z (Hue and Saturation), it will give you a peace of mind that the nightmare has ended.
    Here are some screenies:
You need to be ROOTED to have this, no other way. It's flashable through CWM but if you are just ROOTED and doesn't have CWM installed, you can just push the files to the folders and change permissions. (tell me if you need help on this one)
Here's the original thread with the download link from XDA :

If you're an XDA member, don't forget to hit THANKS to him. Don't forget to give Kudos   and / or mark the correct answer
It would be much better still if Sony will provide an official solution for this headache issue.
Reply with results you got or problems you encountered installing, Ill help. That's all. Enjoy.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yes, we will add a setting for white balance in an upcoming version of the phones software planned for the beginning of next year (see my response here: http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z1/Xperia-Z1-C6903-Display-Issue-Yellow-Hue-Tint/td-p/391521/pa...).
I don't have any Japanese unit so i can't confirm if it has been added there already and what it looks like though.

  • Replacing iPad Air with Yellow Tint?

Hello everyone, I recently received my iPad Air last week from Best Buy and it seems I have the yellow tint issue.
Can I just go to the genius bar and have them replace it or do I have to go to Best Buy?

Actually all LCD screens are constructed from multiple layers which are bonded together, so yes, the screens are "glued" together for want of a better description. There are many layers making up the screen, including the backlight/diffuser, two polarising layers with the actual liquid crystal sandwiched between them, for a lot of displays the touchscreen itself is another layer on top of that (on the iphone and ipad mini its built into the front layer of th eLCD, on the ipad 3 and 4 its a seperate piece of glass laminated onto the top of the LCD - i dont think anyone has sliced through an ipad air yet to find out how the lcdis constructed).  with all of these layers - what do you think holds them together and stops them falling apart??? ifixit wont have mentioned this since you cant delaminate an LCD display without shattering the very thin glass layers off, they just treat the LCD display as a single unit.
And yes there was a well known issue with the iphone 4 where they were shipping the so fast the bonding agent hadnt fully cured, meaning that anywhere on the display it was slightly thicker, it gets slightly yellowish
for my own personal iphone 4, after a 6 week wait for it to finish drying, it was still yellow so they replaced it.
it is perfectly possible that in these ipads, the bonding agent holding the multuiple layers of the touchscreen together not finished curing

  • IMac 21.5 i3 3.06GHZ - Yellow Tint

I purchased my iMac from the Eastview Mall, Victor NY store last friday and for 3 days everything was absolutely beautiful! Installed Windows 7 64bit and was extremely happy that I had have the best of both worlds!
Ever since I started reading about the dreaded yellow tint issues, I have been second guessing my screen quality. I have run the yellow tint screen test and can notice a small area with what I perceive to be yellow. The screen otherwise has no dead pixels. I have done the normal gamut of resetting the PRAM and still no change. I have a Genius Bar appointment today to address the issue. I'm hoping to get a replacement.
I wonder how noticible does this yellow tint have to be in order to get a replacement....

I wanted to say that I don't look for problems. The issues were definitely there and were confirmed by the Apple Genius Bar this morning. The 1st replacement exhibited worse yellow tint on the right hand side of the screen and again was confirmed by 3 Apple Genius Techs. I took home the 2nd replacement and opened up the box. So far so good. Everything looks uniform on the screen from multiple angles and heights with no glaring yellow tint.
When it comes to hard earned cash, it pays to be diligent.
I was treated with professionalism and very happy I brought the iMac back to the store to get replaced!

  • What's Wrong? My iPad Lost it's Yellow Tint!

My new iPad never really had a yellow tint. The display, though, was obviously warmer in tone than my iPad 2, and the warmth was across the entire display, not just part of it.
Space around text was, in particular, whiter on the iPad 2, and the text seemed to be darker - more contrasty. I had to call my wife over to take a look and she confirmed what I was seeing, when the two iPads were side-by-side.
As others have noted, if the two iPads were not compared side-by-side, the new one looked fine. Put them together, and the difference was very apparent.
However, having read from several posters that it's an issue with glue, I decided not to panic. Last night, I spent a few hours with the new iPad on the Web, reading people's comments, and then browsing the topic of color - how we see, Edwin Land's ideas about color perception being based on context, etc. It made for interesting, if not hard-going reading.
Just before I went to bed, I did a last comparison check. I discoverd, to my amazement, that my new iPad's display had lost most of its warm tint over the past few hours. As far as I can tell, it's now totally gone. When I compare it to my iPad 2, the new iPad still looks warmer, but only in comparison.
Now the iPad 2 has a bluish cast to my eyes, especially when I'm looking at a page with black text and white space - the white is blue. With photos, the difference is down to a slight saturation gain with the new iPad. And the retina display increases sharpness just enough to make some photographs, along with their increased saturation, appear to be 3D.
I have a feeling this problem of tint/color will resolve itself for most people, one way or the other. For those who can relax for a few days, they might find, as I did, that the yellow will disappear. Or they might trade in their iPads, but there's no guarantee, if they get an iPad fresh off the boat, that it won't have the same problem, at least for a few days.

That's good to hear that the "Yellow tint" has sorted it self out.
Maybe the "Heat" issues that that people have with the batteries will sort it self out after a few discharge - recharge cycles.

  • Why haven't we heard anything from apple in regard to the yellow tint screens till now?

It is really sad & frustrating from Apple to get manufacturers who do not produce quality work like the others. It really more sad when I pay more than 800$ with a one year contract & do not recieve the correct handset.
After lots of arguing & fighting with customer care in UAE, all I was able to get is a third replacement however same issue & they tell you most of our phones are like this for the black.
What a shame Appple, am quite sad & learned my lesson, I will not rush to buy any of your products anymore, let it take its time then If you have no issues I might think about buying.
Now what troubles me the most is that I could not find any announcment from Apple on this though there are so many users with such issue. What a shame!!!!!!!
People out there, any news about this. What can we do.

wissam, just letting u know that my 3 days old black iphone 4s has a yellow tint and the serial number starts with DNQ, I am very upset with this issue and will never get any apple product till all the problems are fixed

  • Why some ipad 2 have yellow tinted screen? Can Apple give us an explanation?

    It's so obvious.
Every ipad2 showed to us in the stores has cool screen.
Yet what we got have warm ones with yellow tint.
This also happens on iphone 4 and 4s.
Is it quality issues or something else.
    Apple owe us an explanation.

Seeing as how Apple will have to answer your question, instead of posting it here on the user to user forum you really should post on it on the Apple feedback site,

  • IPhone 4 32GB with yellow tinted screen

    hello,
I have iPhone 4 32GB with yellow tinted screen. The provider STC in Saudi Arabia refuse to change it.. I've tried to complain them to apple but Icouldn't. So What should I do?

I am occasionally having the same issue.  Saw another post that suggested it might be caused by mail notifications.  This is unconfirmed.

  • Who has a yellow tinted screen?

Finally was able to get my sister a replacement, and the first thing I even noticed without hearing or reading of the issue was the retina display seemed kinda yellowish. So I looked it up and compared, and the phone has a yellow tint on the entire screen. I can only take pics using an iPhone 3G so it would look fuzzy though.

    How is your phone?
Also, the battery is already half gone and its had 2 hours usage. of Facebook, and some twitter. WIFI OFF too. 3G on
My screen is just fine. I don't see any yellow tinted on it.
I find that the battery lasts longer when connected to wi-fi then using just 3G. If I were to use just 3G, I'd probably get around where you are, as in 2 hours -3 hours of usage.

  • New 3G - yellow-tinted screen...

My wife and I just bought two new 3G's (after having owned the original iPhone for 8 months). The first thing I noticed after powering my 16GB 3G up was a very noticeable yellow-tint on the display. After searching the internet I realized that this was a common issue- I even came across Apple's statement that the temperature change in the display was intended. However, my wife's 16GB 3G does not have any hint of yellow... and resembles the temperature of our old iPhone's (blue-tinted). What gives?!

Just make sure you upgrade to the latest firmware... there was upgrade shortly after the release of the 3G that corrected the problem. If this doesn't work... Hi Ho Hi Ho... I'ts back the Apple store you go!

  • Yellow tinted screen display on my newly bought iPhone 5. Any solutions?

Hi, I have an issue on my iPhone 5. I bought this iPhone 5 1week ago and I encounter yellow tinted screen when I compare it with my iPhone 4. Any solutions to it or reasons for this? Hope to hear soon.

Contact Apple at feedback or take it back to where you purchased it. These are user to user forums and you are not speaking to Apple here.

  • Screen has yellow tint

Whenever I turn my imac on it has a yellow tint. I've done the color calibration. Sometimes it'll turn back to normal, but when I shutdown/sleep and turn it back on it'll turn yellow again. Then other times when I do the color calibration, it won't even change, the screen will still have a yellow tint. I have no idea how this happened. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi there,
First, make sure your iMac is or is not on the Apple Repair Extension program: http://www.apple.com/support/imac/repairextensionprogram/ this addresses some video and power issues...
The only way I can make my screen slightly yellow or amber is through calibrating the display while in expert mode:
System Preferences > Displays > Color... from here pick any Display Profile to Calibrate, CHECK the box for Expert Mode, continue without changing anything till you reach 'Target White Point', you should check the box 'Use Native White Point', continue and SAVE AS a new profile name... this should get you back to nuetral white... if this fixes the problem you can always go back and calibrate this profile and tweak any settings you wish
