Yellow tinted iphone 3G screen compared to other 3G iphones?

Hi guys,
I juts purchased a new iPhone 3G, however when I compare this to either my friends iPhone 3G or any of the demo handsets instore, mine has a noticably yellowish tinge to it.
I am aware that Apple changed the white point between 1st gen iPhones and the 3G version, yet I am comparing this to other 3G handsets and it seems noticably duller.
I have exchanged the device 3 times, amde sure each was running 2.2, and each handset has been the same-does anyone know why this might be?

Actually I don't think that's amazing at all. I think its the norm.
When you stop to consider that three High Volume retailers are offering $99 refurbs its pretty clear to me there are a LOT of refurbs, way more than you ever here about on this forum, and Apple is standing squarely behind this product by replacing them for the slightest problem.
Many posters here insist that if the forum isn't overflowing with complaints there is not a problem. Yet any visit to the Apple store will show genius after genius dealing with iphone after iphone ALL DAY long. The vast majority of people, when faced with a gadget problem do not get on the web and complain.
They either RTFM, call apple, or go visit the store.

i know this is an too early question but how many of you iphone pro's think that apple will implement a screen with higher resolution than the iphone 6 with its 326 ppi
i know they never upgraded the screen on the S models but i have read that the iphone 6s will come with LTPS (Low Temperature Poly-Silicon)-display
and that can have a pixel density of 500 ppi

It doesn't matter how long Apple users here have purchased their products, Apple is notorious for product secrecy and if anyone did know they would have signed a non-disclosure agreement.

Hello. Skydiver pretty much said it all! Don't know that I have anything more other than another voice in the dark. You really should get the case that is meant for your iPod. The phones look like the iPod but they are different dimensions and buttons are in different places. The screens are glass and glass breaks and scratches, etc. Unfortunately the cases that protect the glass as well as the body of the iPod will have rubber and add some bulk. As for falls and drops, any fall / drop may do damage if it hits the road so to speak the right wrong way, even with a case, but your odds of survival without damage are better with a case.
I have a Griffin Survivor it's day glow yellow and black, makes it easy to find. One of the benefits of the rubber, makes holding on to my iPod easier, and it keeps the iPod from slipping falling out of my pocket when I bend over. The seals on the ports have kept mine clear of stuff in the ports and kept the weather off my iPod. I know this is starting to sound like a commercial but I'm happy with my case. I have beat the snot out of it, dropped it on rocks, spilled tea on it, been caught in the rain and snow, gone dirt biking, rolled it down a flight of stairs in a backpack with a glass bottle of tea, (remember the tea), the bottle broke, tea on everything, ruined everything, but just wiped the iPod off and still going, and worst of all... left it in the hands of a 6 year old, so far, so good. Something to note some cases state they are waterproof and some say they are watertight, waterproof means spill something on it or get wind driven rain on it your most likely protected (the Survivor is waterproof) but drop it in the toilet and your all wet. usb is just a connection and drivers are required for everything some drivers are generic like mass storage
most are not and require the manufactor to make a device driver
but ios devices don't support 3th party device drivers so you're stuck with the build in ones
like mass storage
if you look into the range of supported bluetooth profiles of ios devices you will find the same problem

I bought a brand new iPhone 4 in Egypt on it's first day of official release from Vodafone store, I've been using it for 9 month and never had any big issues with it, was all minor issues, but since few days I've noticed a yellow tint on the screen and it looks very ugly and annoying , I searched the problem on the Internet and found out I'm not the only one having this issue, it's really disappointing to see such stuff on iPhone 4 screen, I would like to know if I go to Vodafone store and ask for replacement will they replace it or I have to go to apple store??

No web site expert here but I would suggest changing the .m4v to .mp4 and ask one of those friends if they still have problems. .m4v is something I always associate with iTunes and don't really see it used elsewhere.

I'm having a similar issue: warranty replaced my 1st iPhone 3G with a new one and it has a substantially yellower. I know the 3G's have generally yellowier screens compared to the first iPhone, but I'm comparing just 2 3G's and there's a big difference... Since I just got the iPhone replaced under warranty, I plan on just taking it back and asking for a WORKING replacement--because that's what a warranty Gould do and I expect quality from Apple (which usually delivers). i heard a lot of people that their iphone is with a warmer color and is yellow tinted. week ago I got a 64Gb white iPhone 4s and when i compared with the 16 gb white iphone 4s i just see the difference , my 64gb was more with a warmer color and yellow tinted. I have read many to say that the issue of this is the glue but i just got a new solution that worked for me.
First you should go to settings > general > Auto - Lock - change it to NEVER.
second you should download a white wallpaper from google and than you go to the photos and set it to watch the wallpaper.
third you should change the brightness to max and put the charger on the iphone and let it all night charging with the white wallpaper.
dont forget you shouldnt lock the screen, let it unlocked by the wallpaper. you will see the changes of the yellow tint

If it is under warranty and Apple determines it to be defective, then they will replace the iphone.
If it is not under warranty or they do not determine it to be defective, then they will not.

Retina Macbook has Yellow tint ... purchased via online store so how do I exchange?

I've just received my BTO Retina Macbook Pro and notice that there is a definite yellow tint. Looking online this is a common problem. But as I'm located in the UAE, there's no offical apple store here, just the online one.
I've compared the issue to my 2011 MBP and using the Retina MBP over airplay to my Sony HDTV. Attached are images to illustrate the issue.
What is the process / where can I go to have this issue fixed?

hey...just got my MBPr 4 days ago. My friend got his as well, and is calling me crazy because I'm bothered by a slight yellow tint to the screen, when the brightness is turned up to nearly full.
I've attached a screenshot. The computer was running for about 25 minutes when I took it. He's telling me that I'm nitpicking because I'm never going to use a pure white background, although pages like yahoo and google have an essentially white background. I've also included an all-black background, and a shot of the google homepage.
Do you guys see it as well? Comparitively, do you think it's a problem. If I decide to return it, it will have to be by mail because I ordered the 2.3 i7 with 16gb RAM, so it can't be replaced by store models.
Otherwise I'm really happy with the laptop. It's blazing fast and designed really well. Just wondering if you guys see a problem, or I really am nuts? By the way, this unit has a samsung display (discovered via the terminal command), not an LG panel.

No monitor profile available. Yellow tint after import

Hello. I have bough last week a new Toshiba notebook which has Windows 8.1 preinstalled on it.
I have noticed a problem that seems other came also on the same issue. When i watch images on a non profile managed software, the images look fine. Once i import them on Lightroom or Photoshop, the images get a yellow tint.
The problem and a possible solution is also described here: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1164320 . This is setting the sRGB as a monitor profile. I know this is not a great solution, but surely better than what i see on my monitor. In any way, this unfortunately this did not work for me.
This is what i mean with the yellow tint (left Lightroom, right Irfan)
Today i tried following:
Step 1
The image is in RAW format. I import it in Lightroom and gets that yellow tint i described.
I export it with sRGB in jpg format. The jpg file has still that yellow tint. Please note here, that others that report similar problems, they mention that after the export they image looks again fine.
Step 2
I open the RAW image with Irfan (not color managed) and save it as jpg. The image is saved "correctly", as you see on the right side of the image above.
Step 3
I import the exported jpeg that was created with Irfan and import it to Lightroom.
The yellow Tint now does not appear on the imported JPEG.
One more tip i can give is: When i do a Soft proofing on Lightroom and choose sRGB i still see that yellow tint.
What exactly is happening ? I try to identify the problem. Why i see just raw images with this yellow tint, no matter the profile i set for my monitor and no matter the proofing options on lightroom.
I don't want to spend 100+ euro for a calibration device and not being able to use the profiles.
Any suggestions for further testing ?

First - Irfanview needs to be at least IV 4.35 and needs to have the LCMS.DLL plug-in installed as well as having the Color Management enabled so that you have some chance of your Photoshop and IrfanView versions of an image matching:
Alright we have the first conflict here.
I have the latest IrfanView version (4.37) , i saw that the Lcms.dll exists in the plugin list, and i have set the settings as suggested.
Furthermore at the moment i have sRGB as my default monitor profile. Still this is how i see things.
IrfanView and Photoshop have the same difference as before. Yes i have rerasted IrfanView on every change. I actually freshly installed also the latest irfanView version with its plugin.

As you can see the Adobe default processing with the Adobe Standard profile, at top left, is a little greenish. This is compared to the default camera processing as viewed in the camera-embedded preview jpg from the CR2 at the bottom right which a white frame around it.
When i open the raw image on LR, i have (from what i can see on my monitor) the same results as your Adobe default processing (Top left) . What confused me on your image above is bottom left image "Adobe processing - Camera standard". What is with Adobe processing meant here? The camera profile? If yes then how can we have Adobe camera profil but also camera standart ? If you mean the process LR provides, mine is set on 2012. But no adobe available for selection. I do not know if this is meant though.

One more comparison is of the files you made available including the IranView jpg you supplied as compared to the Canon JPG preview that I extracted from the CR2 file:
What you can see is that the CR2 as viewed in LR and LR's exported JPG of that CR2 look about the same (top and bottom left), and the IrfanView and Canon-JPG versions of the CR2 look the same (top and bottom right). This is your IV version of the JPG, not something I made, but I expect IV has just extracted the camera-embedded fullsize preview JPG from the CR2 file just like I did using a different tool, so they look the same, but it is possible your IV is using a Canon-specific plug-in that uses the Canon-supplied SDK library DLLs that can also duplicate Canon processing. I only have the Formats.dll and the CRW.dll but not all the extra SDK DLLs so I expect my IV is only extracting the camera-embedded preview JPG.
Yes i can confirm that also on my environment. The exported CR2 from LR matches the exported JPG as also there is a match between IrfanView CR2 with the Camera standard profile export. Unfortunately i cannot confirm if IrfanView uses a sort of Canon-plugin to make the RAWS rendered automatically with the Canon standard profile.
And if you want your Adobe treatment of CR2 files to look much more similar to your camera's treatment, then use the Camera Standard profile in Lightroom and the PS ACR plug-in.
Question on this. Should i always put a Camera Standart profile on all my images after importing them on LR ?
Also please, let me know what you meant with Adobe Processing. I searched on the web with "Adobe Processing lightroom" , but i could not understand what is meant.
If using the Camera Standard profile doesn't make things look almost the same, then please post a side-by-side of LR's view of the CR2 and IrfanView's JPG extracted from the CR2--what you've linked to, just above.
Here is a comparison between an exported JPG from Lightrom with camera profile (Right) compared to an exported JPG with IrfanView from the RAW (left). As mentioned before the images look identical, with the one exported from LR with Camera profile being a bit more vibrant. But not much of a difference.

So in the end it seems you see also that green-yellowish cast on the RAW image. From what i see on the screenshots you made.
The question now is why i do not see RAW the same as Adobe software ? Could i do this test with an other viewer?
To summerize from my side as well. A monitor calibration is surely good to do. On the other side the cast i see on the RAW in this case has not to do with the profile but rather with Adone profile and the way this image was captured.

HT201210 My Iphone 4S screen went black but iTune is unable to finish recovery and software restore.

My Iphone 4S screen went black but the Iphone was still working. I was able to play music with the headset.
I went a head and put it in a safe mode to perform a recovery. iTune updated the software succesfully but is unable to finish recovery and software restore.
I went to the support page to see what suggestion apple has but I had done already what they asked (update software, unplug all other USBs, restart the computer, iTune and restore process).
Any suggestion what I can do?

Take the iPhone to an Apple store genius bar for testing, and if it is defective and under warranty they will replace. Since you say iPhone 4, was this a used or refurbished iPhone?
