Yellowing in the centre of the screen :((((( 24"iMac

I've just recently (week and a half ago) had 'upgraded' to a 24" iMac after taking back a 20" imac because of bad screen issues. But I have a yellow tint in right in the centre of my screen! Dimming the display shows it at its worst and setting it to the brightest setting still shows the tint but kind of 'masks it a fraction. I'm so disappointed....the sides also show a yellow tint on the edges, I've tried calibrating but no luck. Also I have a dead pixel. I am getting quite depressed over this :(((
Surely this cannot be to specs????
I'm quite reluctant to take it in the genius bar as I didn't have a good experience with them last time with the 20"......they weren't very nice about it and arrogant They made me feel like I was the crazy one who could only see the 'issues'.
I'm just so disppointed.

You can find a few issues in the forums regarding dead pixels, however you will find many people that have not had a single problem with the imac me included. You must take this back to the shop at once and get them to change it, it cost a lot of cash and you do not want a second rate machine. You may be unlucky and have a bad batch, heat or damaged in transit etc. On the plus side when your machine is fixed or replaced the screen is a treat so dont be disappointed. If the staff are rude in the shop, ask to speak to the manager without delay.

• I too had the same vertical white line in the centre of the screen last night after having my iPhone 5 up and running for 10 days. I managed to turn it off by holding the buttons in and it came up with the iTunes screen....2 hours later it came good?

I was talking outside on my iPhone 5 in a fairly humid environment (The Pilbara in January, 2014) then when the call was finished I hung up (as I was walking back inside to the air-conditioning) this white vertical line appeared in the centre of the screen and wouldn't go away. I couldn't use it NOR could I accept calls. (I called my number from my other phone). I eventually managed to turn it off after removing the protective casing (Otter Box) and then it came up with the white cord / iTunes screen........I left it for a while...it turned back on BUT is still had a flickering screen.......I re-charged it and I have backed it up this morning (at work) on iTunes and it seems to be working 'fine.' All I can say is 'DO NOT GET RID OF YOUR SAMSUNG GALAXY PHONE IF YOU HAVE ONE!' I haven't had an OUNCE of trouble with it and have owned it for at least 3 years. The iPhone has been up and 'running' since the 6th of January, 2014. This happened on the 15th of January, 2014.

Plug your phone into the wall charger for at least 30 minutes...make sure you have a sim card in the phone...then:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Make sure you have no anti-virus software running or any firewalls...turn all of that stuff off.

• When I turn on my iPad the grey 'brightness slider' is in the centre of the screen and I can't get rid of it. I've tried switching on / off 'auto-brightness' in 'settings' but it won't go away. What am I doing wrong? Any advice gratefully received.

That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the Operating System data on the hard drive is somehow corrupted.
Put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left hand list. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've clicked on the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

This shouldn't happen. Take it back since it's new.

• Ipad is frozen, after sliding the log off bar the screen is grey and a small circular icon is spinning in the centre of the screen.

My Ipad has been freezing up. I just tried to log off and after sliding the log off bar the screen is grey and there is a small circular icon spinning in the centre of the screen. Over half an hour now. Has anyone run into this before?

Try and hole the home button and power off button at the same time until the iPad shuts off,do not let to of either button until you see the Apple appear in the screen. This will reset your iPad without loosing anything and try power off with the slide bar again after you complete the steps.
Hope this helps.

• Firefox is centering the webpages in the centre of the page, instead of spreading it out across the screen. Does anyone know why?

When i am using Firefox it only focuses the webpage into the centre of the screen, rather then spread it across. It usually spreads across but our computer recently crashed and mum got it repaired. Ever since it has centered the page. I was just wondering if anyone knows why?

Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems: View > Zoom > Reset (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)
You can try to rename (or delete) the file content-prefs.sqlite in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] to reset the page zoom on all sites.

Please help if you can

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

• I've just changed computers and now some websites (mainly facebook) only appear in the centre of the screen with a white band either side.

Since changing my computer some web pages are only showing text, picture etc down the centre of the screen, this one included. Increasing the text size with zoom or changing to full screen do not resolve the problem. A better explanation might be that text does not fill the screen right to left there is a wide margin either side.

Hi
Thanks for the reply, I have tried all these steps and it doesn't solve the problem. I don't know whether I am explaining it properly. It's not making the sites illegible it's just really annoying. The site content is only displayed down the middle of the screen with the first quarter and last quarter being blank, I fear it may be one of those things I have to live with. It's just weird because I have never had this before on my old computer. It won't let me add a screen shot which would probably make it clear what I mean.
Thanks again

Please can you help. My ipad is frozen. A box is permently on in the centre of the screen saying not enought storage. When i press on the words CLOSE or SETTINGS it doesn't respond. It won't slide to unlock or close down. The ipad is 16GB and about a year old. Any suggestions.

THis suggestion also worked for my iphone! After a few warnings, the screen on my iPhone froze. there was no way to make phone calls or manage my iCloud storage or even turn it off. I deleted all the photos on my iphone, checked storage and nothing changed. So I purchased more storage, did the backup and still the screen remained frozen. To be sure, I checked that the new amount of storage was registered, it was but somehow my Mac showed the backup I had just performed (a couple of times) not having happened (it show the last one some 2 weeks before). Weird but I followed your suggestion (wish I had seen it before I purchased new storage) and Ta DAH!!! I'm back in business too. thanks!!

• I recently updated Firefox and when I did the screen displays the sites in the centre of the screen and in very small text. I have a newer monitor with a wide screen. How do I go about fixing this problem?

I have a new computer with a wide screen. Before I updated the web sites would fit the width of the screen, now that I've updated the web sites only display in the centre of the screen and they appear squished.

I'm using iOS 7.04 on my iPhone and basically can't use it. The screen is going crazy. I type and special characters show up. I have to hit send more than once (it grays out, then hit again) then it sends. I type words in text or email and it backspaces and deletes my entire message. I tap an application and it starts wiggling to delete. I've reboot several times. I'm looking at restoring, but that is a pain in the arse (it's my work phone). I'm nervous it will not restore properly.
I have iOS 7.03 on iPad and have no issues.
