So I have a Netgear DGND3700 modem router, and every morning (happened 3 times now) when i get up and turn my imac (late 2012 model, the thin one)  on it won't connect to it, the wifi icon in the top right is greyed out. So I click on my network and it doenst connect until I turn my modem router off and on, then my imac connects perfectly for the rest of the day, until the next morning   it can't be my imac can it!?
This also happens with my ipad and iphone. What is the issues, is it ios7 or mavericks?
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP this is doing my head in.
    this is the modem >

    Hello, littlemold
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I see you have already processed most of the relevant troubleshooting steps for this issue.  This could be related to your router assigning a self-assigned IP address.  I would recommend going through the steps in the article below.

  • YES Network SCAM!

I woke up yesterday morning - started crusing through the sports channels .... MUCH MUCH MUCH to my surprise I find the YES network.
OMG - Is someone screwing with me ? Or could this really be ? YES YES YES (literally) - its here. I am watching the Joe Girardi show, how awesome is this ? (this is starting off to be a great day!)
All day, I am so psyched, telling all my co-workers how they really have to switch over from COM-CRAP to fios, they have the YES Network now....., the internet is faster and more reliable, the service is cheaper and much better technology in general, why wouldnt you switch over.
I get home, all set to watch the Yanks vs the A's.... - what what what the hell ? I cant find the game ... Whats going on ? (ok maybe its on ESPN or Nationally Broadcast... NO)
What the hell ? Frantically searching the internet/google FIOS and YES and yup - I found what I was dreading - a F'ing press release from YES talking about nationally broadcasting YES to FIOS Customers - EXCEPT FOR THE GAMES!
The day turned out to be one of the worst... I know some of you out there like the additional programming that comes on the YES network, but for me, I feel like someone just took the jelly out of my donut.
Sorry all - I cant afford the $200 bucks for MLB EI, and plus most of the games are in Extra Low Def (thats what SD programming looks like on my HDTV)
FIOS / YES - please please please - work out a deal to get the Yankees games on the YES Network! I need some good news.

I personally tend to agree with the last post... - the channel is pretty useless to me if the games are not on. I know some people enjoy getting the Joe Girardi show, and being able to watch batting practice, but I have seen pretty much all of the Yankeeography and the rest of the filler. Batting practice might be ok to see A-Rod back in action - its cool, but again - I feel like I just go duped.
I dont think I will be watching the channel at all - another / different sports channel would have probably been the better way to go.
My guess is that this is the first step of the Yankees working with MLB to come up with their own package - since the YES network is now being broacast nationally, it wouldnt take that much for them to be able to turn on the games / turn it into a paid package.
Although I am sure MLB, IN-Demand, and all of the other players who have rights to other specific time slots (like the Saturday afternoon, and Sunday evening games will have a fit it that what the Yankees try to do)

  • Error but network works. Why?

    Goodmorning.
During the boot of arch, an error occurs:
my IP number: error fecthing interface information:device not found.
Before, during the network module load, warning appears.
But after boot finalizes, network works fine.
Why occur the error message, if the network works?
    Thanks.

  • I installed updates now I can't get on the internet, why?

I installed updates (itunes 10.5, Safari 5.1.1 and Security update 2011-006  1.0) now I can't get on the internet, Why???

Well if it doesn't see the network in the WiFi drop down... then we got problems. Move it closer to the router...

  • E2000 Unidentified Network - No Internet

I purchased the Linksys E2000 and set up the router to my HP desktop. I connected the Wii with no problems but I cannot get any wireless internet connection with my Sony laptop. The Sony connects to the router successfully and the Cisco Connect displays the device but in the Network and Sharing Center menu, Unidentified Network is displayed between the Owner-Pc and Internet icons. There is a red X between Unidentified Network and Internet. Underneath these icons, I can see my router name and the signal strength is listed as excellent.
I contacted customer support and we upgraded the firmware on my HP desktop and changed some of the advance settings. Connecting to the internet still does not work. I thought my drivers in the Sony could be the problem but I can get wireless internet access at stores and restaurants using other networks.
My Sony is Vista-32 bit, and has wireless LAN: Atheros 802.11 g/b. Any ideas why i can connect to the router w/ the laptop but receive no internet? Thanks

When you install the router using Cisco connect software, the wireless network is secured with WPA/WPA2 security.
I think Atheros adapters are having trouble connecting to the WPA/WPA2 secured wireless networks.
Update the drivers of the Atheros wireless adapter and see if that works.
If that doesn't work then you can change the wireless security mode to WEP.
Connect the computer to the router with the Ethernet cable. Open the setup page of the router and go to Wireless tab. Set the configuration view to manual. Change the wireless network name to create a new wireless network. Save the settings.
Go to Wireless security sub tab. Change the Wireless security mode to WEP. Enter the key for the wireless network and save the settings.
Now try to connect to the new wireless network and see if that works on your Sony laptop.

  • Computer - computer network and internet sharing

I apologise if this has been discussed elsewhere - please point me to any useful links.
I have a G4 iMac and iBook (running 10.4.6) both with airport extreme cards installed. I would like to use a computer to computer connection for file / printer sharign and most importantly to share the ethernet connection to the internet running through my iMac.
I would be extremely grateful if someone could point out how to do this and incorporate a practicable level of security (I don't want any of the hundreds of people in adjacent flats downloading lord knows what through my connection).
Having accomplished this, I then need to be able to create a similar connection when required so that when required I can share the internet connection from the iMac with our PC laptop running Windows XP service pack 2.
So, the simpler the better, instructions for creating a computer - computer network for internet and file sharing between two Macs and following that between the Mac with the internet connection and a Windows laptop.
Thank you very much in advance.
    G4 iMac USB 2.0 / G4 iBook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

You don't need to setup up computer to computer connection if your using internet sharing. Once you start internet sharing then your 2 computers are connected togther.
I would be extremely grateful if someone could point out how to do this and incorporate a practicable level of security (I don't want any of the hundreds of people in adjacent flats downloading lord knows what through my connection).
The problem you have is that if you enable internet sharing on one of your macs to share its connection over airport then the only level of security you can enable is WEP encryption.
The problem with WEP encryption is that it offers no real security and can easily be cracked. WPA is the only security you should consider using and unfortunately OSX does not have WPA encryption functionality when using the built in internet sharing function.
Your best solution is to get a wireless router that has a SPI firewall an WPA encryption. Depending on what your current internet connection is and how it is provided would determine the best kind of router to get.

  • I recently installed itunes update and can no longer connect to network nor internet

I recently (sept 2013) installed itunes update and can no longer connect to a network nor internet wired /wireless. I know it is not the gateway as other devices work. Please help. I am not very knowledgable so exact instructions will be most helpful.

Try connecting your computer/laptop directly to the base station with an ethernet cable to one of the external ports and install your network settings. If it finds it there, it will find it after you've reloaded your network info to the base via the Apple Utility. Hopefully when you disconnect afterward, all will be fine. Be sure not to select "closed" network although Macs will login with no prolem, PC's have trouble doing so even with the network data stored in the internet settings.
    Good luck!

  • I have bought a new airport express and using it with my macbook (iTunes 10.2.2). I have joined an existing network for internet in my home and with that i am trying to play the music via itunes but there is audio dropouts every 60 secs or so. any soln ?

I have bought a new airport express and using it with my macbook (iTunes 10.2.2). I have joined an existing wireless network for internet in my home and with that i am trying to play the music via itunes but there is audio dropouts every 60 secs or so. I am using a set of speakers from kenwood connected to the airport express. The operating system on my macbook is mac os X 10.5.8. i am sure it is not a problem of streaming music online because i have even tried playing music which are stored in my macbook.
Is there any problem with the setting in itunes or quicktime ? Kindly reply...... I am waiting for your valuable suggestion.
Thank you a lot in advance.

I am shocked to have found this same AX audio dropout problem starting TODAY, every few seconds the audio just drops for a couple seconds and then resumes:  Latest software versions of everything.  No iPad, iPhone or Touch.  Internet hardwired to D-Link DES1105 (1000baseT Switch) hardwired to new 80211N AX, AX optical to stereo, AX Wi-Fi internet to basic 1st-gen MacBook operating at 80211G, and an older 'G' AX extender at the far end of the house, away from all this.  The MacBook streaming iTunes is usually 12 feet from AX.  I've used this setup for years of trouble-free AirTunes / Airplay until today.  Today I also found 2 very reliable fixes and 1 way to force a dropout, but first, I read some posts and tried ALL following settings one-at-a-time and restored them ALL because NONE of them helped:  Turned off IPV6.  Streamed to multiple speakers 'Computer' and 'AX' (restored to just AX).  Turned off 'Ask to Join new (WiFi) Networks'.  Turned off Bluetooth (can't live without Magic Trackpad, so glad that wasn't it).  Here's my discoveries:  Lo and behold, each time I click the Airport icon in the Menu (you know it shows you've got 4 bars from AX) when the status switches to 'Looking for Networks' for a second it CAUSES the AX audio to drop out for a couple seconds (it never did that before today.)  iTunes still playing, streaming, AX laser still lit, but the 'PCM' light on stereo and the sound GOES OUT EVERY time I click the Airport icon in the menubar, just like the regular, annoying dropouts.  So, to reduce traffic I quit Safari (3 tabs, no streaming, just Gmail, Google, and Netflix browsing).  Lo and behold, the dropouts stopped altogether.  No other Web apps going (not iTunes Store, Genius, Ping, nothing), so I launched Chrome to the same 3 tabs and the dropouts HAVE NOT RETURNED.  That's right, not only did simply QUITTING SAFARI cure it, and Chrome doesn't contribute to it, but I can demonstrate it just by forcing my Airport to re-scan.  Works for me, written using Chrome.  The other reliable fix is to hardwire MacBook to the Switch.  This is obviously not ideal, but Airplay audio doesn't drop out over Ethernet.  Also, in all my tests, it made no difference whether iTunes did the streaming, or Airfoil did.

  • I am trying to set up iCloud on my PC. My congtrol panel doesn't have Network and Internet.

How do I set up iCloud on my PC when I don't have Network and Internet on my control panel?

Try rebooting the device. It should be in Settings right under General. You may need to go to Settings<General<Reset<Reset All Settings (don't erase data) and setup as a new device. The iCloud login should appear during this step. Just keep setting it up, then go back to settings and see if the iCloud tab appears.

  • My mac keeps asking for my WEP key to get on the internet why?

my mac keeps asking for my WEP key to get on the internet why? And where can i find it

It's referring to the MAC password that you have setup.
A software prompts for a password only when there are restrictions set on the user account for unauthorised access to system files and folders.

  • 7.1 update to IPad now unable to use FaceTime and iMessage says could not sign in check your network connection.  Why am I seeing this when I am connected?

7.1 update to IPad now unable to use FaceTime and iMessage says could not sign in check your network connection.  Why am I seeing this when I am connected?

Check Settings>General>Date & Time>Set Automatically>On. Make sure that the time zone setting is also set correctly.
If that didn't solve the problem, restart your iPad and try again. If that fails, reset your iPad and try again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

On an additional note, I've purchased a wireless router and everything connected on the first attempt.  It just vexes me that the built-in wireless isn't working as a router.  Is this another example of "Mac only plays with Mac"?
