Yesterday, a search tab comes on when I start firefox. How can I get rid of it?

I seldom use tabs, so the tab bar was always hidden. starting yesterday, when I opened firefox A search tab is present. A single tab is also present. The search tab is very similar to the search button on the right of the navigation bar. So it is redundant.
How can I get rid of this search tab?

Can you uninstall the "Default Tab" extension as that is considered malware and is causing this search bar?<br />
Otherwise just disable this extension.

Back up all data before proceeding.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select

In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.

Suddenly there was a portal site named "myv9" or "V9" on the screen when I started Firefox the other day. It contains a lot of icons for programs like Facebook, Google and so on. Nearly all the other icons (except Facebook and some others) lead to specific US sites that I never visit (for example the weather forecast for North America) , because I live in Sweden. I'm still not clear about what you mean about unlocking your phone. Normally, "unlocking" means entering the password if the phone is locked, which you should be able to do from the phone itself. If you want more help with this, you really need to take the time to furnish all the relevant details.

When you do that & click on the iPhone in the list, then click on the "Apps" tab at the top, do you see the apps you can't update listed there? If you click on the "Store" menu item does it show near the bottom that you are logged in with your own Apple ID?
As wjosten said, it sounds like one way or another, the apps you cannot update were obtained using your friend's Apple ID. You need to delete them from your phone & try buying them again. If they were in fact paid for with your own Apple ID you won't have to pay again; otherwise you will.

Leliforever, cheek you list of installed add-ons, the Ask toolbar can be installed without the users knowledge.
