As the window starts and crashes there is no way I can see any error message.
I uninstalled Firefox, downloaded, and reinstalled again.
But no use, the problem persists.

If you purchased Lion for your iMac, just log into the Mac App Store from your MacBook using the Apple ID under which you purchased Lion and go to the Purchases page. You will be able to download and install Lion there.
searching the internet i found a link to upgrtade to 10.7
The only place you get get Lion is from the Mac App Store. If you found some other site, that was an illegal copy and almost certainly tied to someone else's Apple ID and hence unusable by you. If the link was just to the Mac App Store, see above.
As to the problem with synchronization to iCloud, that's not a 10.6 question, so I'd suggest you take up that specific issue in either the Lion or iCloud forums, providing full details, and someone there can probably help you sort things out.

what version of iPhoto? Is OS X 10.8 as you state correct for the OS? Has it ever worked? What has changed since it worked? Will Image Capture ( in your applications folder) import the photos? How are you importing - USB to the camera? USB card reader? built in card reader?
Any other clues that would help a total stranger who can not see you or your computer assist you?

But my iphone needed to be restored as it is in recovery mode. it staes that all data will be deleted!! Will I be able to recover data, apps, photos, etc? If your phone is in recovery mode, you've already lost ALL of the data on the phone. Your only choice now is to restore it from your most recent backup. You follow this by syncing your content back to your phone. Any data, on your phone, not backed up or in supported applications on your computer, is gone. iTunes content you can re-download for free.

Every time I go to the file that I got the message about specifying an application (which I'd never seen before) to download it, and I try to download it,firefox starts flickering and multiple entries appear on the task bar. ctrl-alt-del eventually stops it. I can download the same file no problem with IE but I prefer to use firefox. I have been downloading a similar file (torrent file for the daily show) for years without any problem.

I'm having the same problem with this, only it happens with all add ons. I get error -228 when I try, every time.
I can't install through the add-on manager, from the add on site, or by saving the link on the site. I've tried downloading it in Firefox, Chrome, and IE to no avail.
I can, however, drag existing .xpi files into the add on manager and they will install just fine.
I've looked through all the available other documentation, including the two links suggested by TXGuy above and none of it has helped.

Try resetting the iPOd. Nothing will be lost.

I have Firefox instaled on D: disc because my system crashed and after reinstaling OS on C: disc i haven't insatled it but just just used old one just moved to D: disc.
So my only problem is that I wont to get a hold of unbackuped bookmarks in that Firefox, and then one can instal Firefox4.

I experienced this error updating from Firefox 3.6.13 to 3.6.14 and resolved it by doing a 'clean' install' as described. It occurred again in updating from 3.6.14 to 3.6.15 and this time a clean install failed to rectify it. (Anyway, I don't want to have to go through this every time.)
Work-around: Shut down Firefox. Edit application.ini (typically "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\application.ini")

This can be a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache, extensions.rdf) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry.<br />
New files will be created when required.

As mentioned above, when I opened Firefox this morning it installed automatically an update w/o me agreeing and I don't know what was isntalled. Since then I cannot open Firefox. Mozilla Crash Reporter opens and thell me Firefox had a problem and crashed. "We'll try to restore your tabs and windows when it restarts.

I press restart Firefox but I always just get the same message. I uninstalled it and downloaded it again, nothing is changing. I urgentlyu need to use the bookmarks as I don't have them in Explorer which I have to use now.

You need "sysinternal's process explorer", it is free and can replace the Microsoft process explorer, that you get by "CTRL+ALT+DELETE". Either program will allow you to kill the instances of FF that didn't die as they should have, when you closed them. Sysinternal is easier to use, it is a graphic display with many options. Do not push "CTRL+ALT+DELETE" twice unless you want to reboot, that is its default behaviour under Microsoft.

Installed Firefox 4 beta and EVERYTHING stopped working - could not type anywhere or click on anything - Windows 7.

Installed BETA 4 and could not type in any fields, including the URL, could not click on any links. Scrolling up and down the page did work. Tried reinstalling, no change. Then reinstalled V3 and V3 didn't work, so uninstalled BETA 4, reinstalled V3 and now things are back to normal.

My McCaffee was a trial thing, I think. I clicked on it to see if it was updated, and it said it was expired. So I'm just going to uninstall it completely and install AdAware, which is all I've ever used for years and never had a problem.
It occurs to me -- this must (?) have something to do with my new computer... it was slow right out of the box, and I called ASUS tech support the second day I had the puter up and running, and the tech asked me to do a System File Check (SFC), but discovered that the normal pathways through which one would do a SFC (according to him) did not work - the machine would not either recognize them or it would simply swallow the command and then just do nothing... he put me on hold for a few minutes. He came back with a workaround (don't remember it exactly, but it involved a DOS prompt), and I was able to finally run a SFC, which revealed "corrupted files" that had to be "repaired."
In a brand new computer? That can't be a good thing... Maybe the system software factory install was just a bad install? Because I had some slow Firefox issues on my old machine (Acer, dual core, 4gRAM, 2009 machine), but NOTHING like this. This is getting very frustrating. I'm used to just sitting down to my computer and using it, not sitting down and fighting with it for 2 or 3 minutes or more before i can do anything.
