Yet another "Slide to unlock"

Hi
My iPhone 4 running the latest IOS 7.04 has stopped responding - I cant 'Slide to unlock' anymore
After googling the subject I found that I am not alone. Alas the solutions offered haven't helped so far.
So far I have
Tried to turn it of completely/restarted
Tried the different 'hold the (volume) button' while trying to slide
Tried to do a DFU restore
with reloading my backup via iTunes
without reloading anything but a totally clean restore
Tried to replace the touchscreen with a new (original part)
When DFU with restore of old backup the iPhone
is callable
rings on incoming call
detects who calls
show messages
but I cant Slide to answer or unlock
When DFU without restore of old backup the iPhone ofcourse hangs at 'Hello - Slide to setup' ...
To me it seems that
it isnt a hardware problem since it has a new touchscreen and the normal functions seems to work okay (with backup)
it isnt a softwareconflict-problem since it also exist on a totally clean reinstall
So to me it seems to be an IOS 7 problem - but what do I do to come 'on-grid' again ?

Thanks for your kind and helpfull comment. I dont claim anything - I only say that I can see that I am not alone in having/ having had this problem. It has happened to previous IOS versions as well but the majority mentioned is with IOS 7.
A vast and very timeconsuming part of my life in a tech-supportlab has been spent on periodic errorhandling. Modus operandi is to boot the device into a wellknown and working state with say an as basic as possible OS usbstick and take it from there. On the iPhone there shouldnt be a more standard 'out-of-the-box' mode than a DFU'ed phone without loading any previous userdata
As mentioned I swapped the display with an original new display. It takes a phillips screwdriver to remove the 25 screws included and some plastic spudgers and opening tools to disassemble the different connectors. Its small but in no way as hard as say hearing aid repair.
I dont know you or your technical background. Without knowing me at all it seems a little harsh to dismis me as incompetent

    No in order to backup to iTunes, you would need to unlock your phone.
    In order to import pics to your computer you would need to unlock your phone.

    Only the carrier to whom the device is locked can unlock it.
    If you do not meet their requirements or they do not offer unlocking there is no official way to unlock the device.
    Who is your carrier?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod Touch Gen 2 turns on but the slide to unlock does not slide

    Hello all,
    Yesterday morning my iPod Touch was fine. Yesterday evening it would turn on, but I could not make the slide to unlock bar slide over. There is a specific point where it looks like it will go, but it stops and slides back to the far left. I have tried restoring it, but it still won't slide. It is updated to the new OS and has been working for several weeks before this happened. It still connects to iTunes and it charges just fine. I do have the 'grey app icons' issue, but after reading several posts, it doesn't seem related. It was extremely cold yesterday. Could I have inadvertently broke something? There are no cracks or obvious differences other than I can't make the bar slide over.
    Thanks for looking this over.

    I did all that you have listed here and I still cannot make the slide to unlock bar move. And when I press and hold the on/off sleep/wake button and the home button at the same time I get another slide bar at the top that I cannot move and a cancel button at the bottom that works at only one spot on the button. It is as if the screen is registering my touch at one vertical line on the whole screen.

  • I cant slide the unlock how can i get it back?

    I don't know what happened to my ipod touch it just that when i open it and i tried to slide the unlock but it couldn't. how can i get it back my ipod touch?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Rotate during Slide to unlock will lock again

    When waking my iPad (4th gen) it often takes some time before the correct device orientation is recognised and the screen rotates appropriately. If this happens during or right after I slided to unlock my iPad, it will rotate and again present the "slide to unlock" screen. Now however I am unable slide it far enough to unlock (It'll bounce back to locked as if I had only dragged a small distance, while I actually dragged to the edge of the screen) and I'm stuck in the lock screen. As far as I have found the only solution is to reset my iPad using the lock and home button. This problem already occurred occasionally on iOS7, but more frequently on iOS8.
    - Does anyone else experience this problem?
    - If so, is there another way to get past this problem, other than resetting my iPad?

    You could try updating your software all the way to iOS 8.1 since your tag line states that you are running iOS 8.0.2. If that doesn't help, I would try resetting all settings before restoring the iPad.
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. No data will be lost, but virtually all device settings have to be entered again. It is far less work than restoring and it can help with odd problems like this one.

  • Flickers "after" slide to unlock

    My phone used to flicker a bit right "after" I slide to unlock the screen and it did not always happen, but it only happened occationally. I don't know how many of you have noticed this issue. A few days ago while reading another forum, I saw a post that someone have found that this only happens when you don't have the same picture set for your home screen and the lock screen. So I set them as the same picture immediately and haven't had a flicker since then. Anyways, just thought I would share the information here so that more people can give it a try and see if it really fix the problem.

    If your iPhone "flickers" there is a problem in your phone that needs troubleshooting. See page 242 of the User Guide.

  • Can't slide to unlock iPhone

    Does anyone experience this kind of problem?
    And how do you fix it?
    It's exacly like this video.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCQi52Bv2dk
    Can't unlock my iphone by slide the bar and in the mean time
    the monitor's like dead, can't play ipod either.
    And I found out that if I knock it really hard, it will back to normal.
    But could happen again right next time I try to unlock it.
    Or if I sync with iTunes, it will back to normal.
    And this could keep it normal for days, then happen again.
    I thought it has something to do with the software.
    But after I upgradedto OS3.0 and "did not" resotre it,it still happened.
    I think it's a hardware problem.
    Should I just send it back to repair?

    I had this problem intermittently a few months ago on my iPhone 2G. I used to clean the screen and it would let me "slide to unlock" as usual.
    Two days ago, the slide bar was stuck again. Cleaning the screen did not work, so I forced it to shut down by pressing the front and top buttons. This did not rectify the issue. I then tried connecting to iTunes and syncing/backing up just to see if something would jolt it awake--nothing. I ended up forcing it to shut down again and it finally worked when I rebooted it.
    It worked for a day, then stopped again. I tried the above steps and those didn't work, so I restored the factory settings then restored from my backup. This did not work, so I took it to an Apple Genius Bar. The Genius told me that the touch screen was dead and it would mean either I spend $100+ on a repair or get a new phone. Unfortunately, they were renovating the store, so they couldn't assist me with either fix, anyway ("You'll have to call the help line or take it to the nearest Apple store 95 miles away"). Since my phone is no longer under warranty (I've had it about two years), these options would be out of my pocket and there was nothing Apple would do about the cost. I understand the warranty issue, but I invested $400 on a product that was essentially useless after two years due to component faultiness and not user abuse! If I spend another $200 on a new one, should I expect to have to go through this again in a couple years? It is very disappointing, to say the least.

  • Ihone 5s slide to unlock issues

    Quite often, I cannot slide to unlock my phone, I have to reset it everytime.
    the slider will move -1/8" and nothing else.... while this happens, the lock screen photo does not appear, either I get the blurry pinky/gray mess, or my lock screen photo
    Sometimes I can slide to unlock, then when I get to the keypad, it is not the normal dark gray/pink circles, it is like the other - more pinky/gray blurr

    Hey jaylaschmidt,
    Thanks for the question. You can attempt to restore your backup, however keep in mind that this may restore the issue. The above resource is used as an isolation step to determine if an issue is software or hardware related. For information on what to do if the issue does not arise when in the default configuration, refer to the following section:
    If the issue is now resolved, sync one type of content at a time back to the device. For example, if you had an issue playing music, add songs from iTunes and confirm they will play. If your contacts weren't loading successfully, add the contacts back. After each sync, test to see if the issue has returned.

    You may have to do this several times.
    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
  • Camera icon next to "slide to unlock"
    iphone 4: Why doesn't the camera appear next to "slide to unlock" bar after updating to 5.0.1 as it did in 5.0
    Thank you for asking that question - I've been trying to figure this out for a while now.  I finally caved and brought my phone into the Apple store this afternoon and no one there could figure out why I didn't have the camera icon on the lock screen either.  I was told to reset my phone to the original settings, then load from the back up and that should do it - nope.  Yet no one told me, or even knew?, that you had to double tap the button.  Why don't they say that anywhere, all the advertisements on TV, and video on the website never says or shows that.
    And what's the point of the 'quick access' to the camera button from the lock screen if you have to remember to double tap the home button??  You'd think at this point they would have had that figured out - unless double tapping the home button had been used for other things in the past that I just didn't know about?  Very frustrating past couple of weeks trying to figure this out, and all over a little camera icon!  Thanks for letting us know how to access it, I honestly wouldn't have figured it out - and clearly the staff at the store didn't have a clue either!
