Yet another, tho slightly different tv out question

Hey all, good forum.
Got a MSI Ti200 ((MS8851) and want to use the tv out.  It has the 4 pin SVHS output, going into a SVHS to RCA cable, then into scart socket.
Only problem is, whenever I try to select tv out on the display settings, the computer hard locks.  (driver 45.something)  I have to check the box in case the tv is not detected to be able to select tv out at all.
On earlier driver versions it does not detect the tv at all.
If I boot up with just the tv connected, the pre windows DOS display is fine on the TV, and is fine in windows ONLY IN SAFE MODE.  If I install any drivers, as it boots into windows the display turns to trash.  So it seems to me must be a software problem.
Things I have tried:
- TV on and on correct input before turning computer on
- fresh installs of both win98 and XP with only display drivers installed.
- made sure is set to 640*480 at minimum refresh, no progs to force refresh like Powerstrip etc
- made sure set to PAL-I (UK) - my TV (both of them) are fine with this as it works great with my -cough- ATI card.
- tried driver versions 30.82 thro to latest 52.something on both 98 and XP
Thanks a lot for any help
Jon
- tried all scart inputs on my video and TV.

I'm inclined to agree it's the cable. If it was just having issues with your device, that could mean a setting on your iPad was incorrect. But if multiple devices have issues, it's time to try a new cable.

  • Yet another LE 8/LP 8 comparison questions

    Good morning !
When I learned about Logic 8 this morning, I've browsed all the posts in this forum to learn about what differs between LE 8 and Logic Studio, to see which one best suits my needs. I still didn't see a clear answer to my interrogation, even though some topics were marked as "solved".
Here's what I found so far that comes only with Studio :
    - Surround sound, distributed audio, high-end control surface support and TDM support.
    - All the Jam packs.
    - All the printed manuals.
    So here are my questions:
    - It says on the product page that Express got new Pro instruments like Ultrabeat, but what about the Vintage instruments (EVP88, EVB3 and EVD6) ? It seems only Studio got them, am I right ?
    - I'm also guessing that Express doesn't get Mainstage ?
    - Express now comes with the complete EXS sampler, but does it gets the "Studio Sound Library" with it's 1300 EXS instruments or just a few presets ?
My main motivation to go "Studio" is the sounds. I don't care about surround sound creations of complex stuff like that. People are stating that Studio got the jampacks so that alone is worth getting the Studio package, but IMO, all the studio instruments and the sound library are worth even more than the jampacks, and would be the real deal-breaker for me if they were only available in Studio.
Sorry for the long post, thanks for your input !

You are right about the Vintage Instruments, they're Studio-only. Main Stage is Studio-only as well. I don't think Express comes with the whole EXS Library but I'm not sure. As far as the JamPacks, remember those include not only loops but new presets and EXS instruments as well. And talking about sounds, Express won't give you Sculpture which is a **** of a synth.

  • Yet another iCloud with multiple Apple IDs question

I have a Mac, iPhone 3G, and an iPad 2. My wife has an iPod. I have historically synced via the desktop, and my music, calendar, contacts, etc. have shared just fine. I have a Mobile Me account which may or may not be doing anything for me. I understand it's going away anyhow.
Two of my devices share the same Apple ID, and one has a different ID. I don't know what my wife's iPod has for an Apple ID. One of the Apple IDs is a @me.com address.
I have set things up for iCloud, trying to have my calendar, photos, etc. come alive at once like they do in the commercials. After hours reading others' frustrations on here, I still am unsure how to proceed.
I can't change my @me.com AppleID because that is apparently against the rules. I can't add my other email address as a secondary address, because I am informed that that address is already verified as being in use (of course it is, by me). It won't let me change my other Apple ID to an @me.com address because that is also apparently against the rules.
Is there ANY solution that let's me keep syncing my music, plus let's me sync my calendar, contacts, photos, etc. in the Cloud? I don't want to lose any of my current information.

Thanks for the quick reply.  I don't think it helps me.
My Mac and iphone have the same Apple ID.  I innocently created a different AppleID when I bought my iPad. ([email protected]).  I want them to sync automatically. They don't because they have different "clouds."
I don't want to have to log in to sync everything.  If that were the case, I would just go on syncing every night via the Mac. Is there a way to get to where my iPad syncs with the other two?
Am I missing something simple here?

  • Yet another IAS + 802.1x dynamic vlan question

    hello all
For the last 18 months or so there's been a steady stream of folks trying to get dynamic assignment of a vlan to a user/group using Microsofts IAS Radius.
Having searched thru the Netpro archives, I've never found a definitive explaination of how this is done.
Sure, its almost common knowledge by now that the three attributes 64(Tunnel-Type=vlan), 65(Tunnel-Medium=802) and 81(Tunnel-Private-Group-ID=vlan name) need to be configured on the Radius Server.
Recently I discovered that IAS on windows 2003 even includes the Radius "tunnel-tag" attribute, so even that can be included now(as =1).
Still, having done this, and seeing a "debug radius" on a 2950 switch (with newest code) show the the tunnel-tag starts with "01" --- i STIll can't get this darn thing to work.
Yes, it works for static 802.1x(no vlan assignment) against a XP sp2 client .
Yes, I included the "aaa authorization network default group radius" statement.
If I configure a vlan 5 named "Sales" --- nothing works. Not when I configure attribute 81=Sales in IAS, not when I configure "5" in IAS. Heck, I even used hex values--- till I got
    " Attribute 81 6 01000005 " in the debug,
    all sorts of permutations.
Please Cisco, somebody --- help us out here.
The fact of the matter is, though ACS is probably the best way to go(it does NAC & FAST), alot of clients say "hey - I've got a perfectly good Radius Server for FREE in Windows".
Can anybody shed some light on this!

Here is working IAS settings and switch config:
    Ignore-User-Dialin-Properties 4101 True
    Framed-Protocol 7 PPP
    Service-Type 6 Framed
    Tunnel-Medium-Type 65 802
    Tunnel-Pvt-Group-ID 81 102
    Tunnel-Type 64 VLAN
    Tunnel-Tag 4170 1
*Note that I have VLAN#, not VLAN name on attribute 81

  • Yet another "MacBook Air vs. Pro" question, now with specifics!

I'm upgrading from an older Mac Mini 2GB purchased in '08.  I've looked at some recent comparicson threads here, but help me clarify my thinking for my specific situation...
I'm strongly considering the 13" MacBook Air. Aside from Web surfing and email, the most demanding regular use I foresee is photo editing in Aperture and maybe Adobe Lightroom. I'm not a pro, just a fairly avid amateur. I use iWork for home word processing, editing a club newsletter, etc. For photo editing I have a new non-Apple 24" monitor with DVI input. Hence, I probably will not need the sexy Retina display, tempting as it is.
Beyond that, I may download and demo industry specific software, both Windows and Mac versions, to practice and learn for my job. Adobe Captivate is on my list right now.  I see in another thread that dual booting Windows in BootCamp is doable and works well.
I'll also occasionally use the Adobe CS suite (CS4 for now)  for web design - no application development.
I also like to keep my computers as long as possible to amortize the cost. 4 years for my old Mini is actually pretty short. I had my old G3 tower for nearly 10 years! So I wonder if the limited upgradeability of the Air would be much an issue.

Your last sentence probably makes the MBA unsuitable for your consideration because the RAM is not upgradeable and the SSD uses a proprietary connector which limits your choices should you want to upgrade it (and increases the cost). The MBP offers the same portability with better graphics performance (it has a discrete video card rather than Intel integrated video), and its RAM and drive can be upgraded.
I have an early 2009 MBA which I've upgraded to 8GB and added an SSD to. Except for when I'm traveling, it is my professional workhorse and I can easily believe I'll get at least another 2 years of use from it. Because the MBA cannot be upgraded like the MBP can, I'm completely unwilling to estimate how long I might keep one. OTOH, I tend to resell my notebooks after 2 years and get a very good resale value from them.

  • Yet Another Hard Drive Question from a Mac Newbie

I apologize in advance for the length of this post -- as I state in the subject line, I am a complete Mac newbie.
I just took delivery yesterday on a new (early 2008) Mac Pro. I purchased and installed an additional 8GB RAM, and ordered it with a 500GB HD (Seagate, it looks like) and purchased two 750GB Hitachi HDs for bays 2 and 3. I will be doing a fair amount of photo editing, and also plan to partition the OS drive to run XP using bootcamp, but also plan to use VM Fusion.
I am thinking of partitioning the boot drive with 250GB for OS X and apps, 150 GB for XP and apps, and ~66 remaining possibly to be used as scratch memory for CS3, though it sounds like this may not be enough. The bay 2 Hitachi would be used for all my user data (photos, music, docs, etc.) bay 3 would be for backup initially, possibly using Time Machine? (other recommendations welcomed). As space becomes an issue in the future, I will invest in a fourth internal HD, and at least 2TB external HDs for backup.
Does this seem like a reasonable plan? If so, how do I go about formatting the drives and installing boot camp, Fusion, etc., and in what order? Also, how best do I organize my existing files from my current Windows machine as I copy them to the new user data HD, so they can be accessed as needed by both OS X and XP?
    Thanks for your help.

I like the boot volume to never get beyond 50% used. Enough room for burning dual-layer DVDs can be 50GB for best results. And to force the system to use the first outer tracks.
I hope you are concurrently zeroing both drives. SoftRAID is my choice for driver for RAIDs and you can cancel safely at any time. There are also excellent tools for checking sectors and mapping out bad blocks.
I put Vista on its own 10K Raptor. I had it on the boot drive but I am always changing my mind, my drives and setup. Vista needs at least 40GB and that is with all my major documents and files on another drive which holds 150GB out of 450GB.
You set the preference for what drive to use as scratch in CS3 or other programs. And you want to disable Spotlight indexing on any scratch or editing partition. Scratch can be a drive, a volume, a stripped array. Any 'normal' partition though don't use the default (journaling) feature is all.
How large? I'd have to see and know how large files, work flow, and how long you work between projects. The nice thing, erase the scratch volume between projects but it is possible to use 300GB when you work on 1.5GB files and above.
One early Mac Pro owner wasn't able to work as they wanted until they had 10-12GB RAM, boot RAID0, and RAIDs for scratch and data (saving 2GB files and not having to wait forever, which even a minute can feel like forever).
Disk Utility: Partition. You can even partition 2+ drives, just make them the same, and first create 2 partitions (100GB on each?) and then stripe the first "Untitled 1" of each into 100GB x n array. Stripe or mirror the "Untitled 2" or leave those are two unique non-RAID volumes. Sounds harder than it is.
Scratch = temp space and designed to not be saved, to be erased as needed.
SoftRAID.com 3.6.6 makes it easy to create, delete, erase volumes and arrays as needed. Leopard has improved on non-RAID but not with RAIDs (for those that change their minds).

  • Question - Y do my fonts look slightly different when publish site to .mac?

I've created a website on iWeb but when i publish it and view it in safari the fonts look slightly different. It's hard to explain but they basically just look worse. Can anyone let me know why this might be and how i could fix this problem. Thanks in advance.

Quit iWeb, go to Home Folder/Library/Preferences and delete the file com.apple.iWeb.plist.
Restart your Mac, launch iWeb and republish.
You should really convert any text done in "copperplate" to an image. Otherwise it will be converted to an (ugly) alternative on any computer that doesn't have this font installed.

  • Display hints, custom format method in VO, is there yet another way?

Did you experience the same and had a solution?
    Hi,
I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.4 and looking for yet another way of customizing the display of an attribute of a view object.
I have two tables: BILL and AWARDS, with composite foreign key relationship (on the LDAP_UID and TERM fields) between them, as illustrated below.
    The BILL table:
    NAME       LDAP_UID    TERM   CREDIT_HRS
    Tom Smith  tom.simth   200902       12.5
    Jane Lopez jane.lopez  200906        4.0
    The AWARD table:
    LDAP_UID    TERM  SOURCE     APPLIED
    tom.smith  200902 Perkins     2000.00
    tom.smith  200906 Direct      1300.00
jane.lopez 200906 CN           500.00 At the business data model level, this is master(Bill)/detail(Awards) relationship. Bill is dragged from the data control palette to the page and displayed as a form, and Awards is dragged to the page as a table. When tom.smith logs in and chooses the 200902 TERM, the master and detail are joined on tom.smith=tom.smith and 200902=200902, so the $2,000.00 of Perkins loan is retrieved for him:
    Name Tom Smith
    Term 200902
    Source    Applied
Perkins   $2,000.00That works fine but not user friendly: the values in the TERMS column are a bit cryptic and need to be displayed in plain English, i.e., 200902 should be displayed as "Spring 2009" and 200906 as "Summer 2009". The display hints in the VO can not handle this. The only other way I know is writing a method in the Row class of the VO to do the translation. And this is the result:
    Name Tom Smith
    Term Spring 2009
    Source        Applied
No rows yet   Obviously, "Spring 2009" is used not only for display, but also for joining the master and detail tables. Of course "Spring 2009"!=200902, therefore no detail is retrieved for the user.
Question is: is there yet another way to customize the display, that does not affect the join of master and detail tables?
    Many thanks for your help!
    Newman

    Hi, Chris,
    That works!
I found the chapter where transient attribute is explained and an example is given creating a transient attribute in the entity object. It turned out that transient attribute works both in entity object and view object. I did it in the VO and it solves my problem.
I spent hours of time before posting that question, trying two different ways but neither worked. Your one sentence saved me a lot of time. I do appreciate you help very much!

  • Yet another dead mic with Win7 64-bit upgrd - Portege M700

Title says it all.  Mics used to work fine on this machine under Windows XP. Under Win7, except as I note below, the mic has inaudibly low volume with any Control Panel Sound settings. I've spent huge amounts of time trying to solve this. After seeing all the similar posts (with no solutions, it seems) from users of many different Toshiba laptops, I'm about to start spreading the meme across the Internet that Toshiba laptops can't use mics.
I started by upgrading to Win7 then adding just the 64-bit drivers I need from Toshiba's support site. No joy.  Then I started from a clean Win7 upgrade (64-bit Home) using Toshiba's upgrade script.  Nope.  Installed latest generic drivers from Realtek.  Hmm .. some progress, maybe: now with some Sound settings I can get slightly more volume but the mic input is drowned out by white noise-ish hissing.  All right, disable any other sound sources I can adjust: disable Chicony webcam driver from Device Manager. Hmm, now mike volume can get fairly high but the hissing still drowns it out.
Toshiba: At some level, this is a problem between Microsoft and Realtek, I know. But you can help us.  MS changed the audio model significantly since Win XP, including (god knows why!) giving up the little audio mixer app that used to let you adjust levels for different sound sources.  And Realtek's generic driver doesn't provide one either.  So just give us a way to adjust levels for different audio inputs!  Maybe I haven't Googled sufficiently and some hacker out there has one, but I kinda doubt it ... if it requires driver-level access as I suspect, Microsoft's new DRM-motivated hammerlock limiting us to signed drivers prevents us from fixing this ourselves.  (It also means we can't access our ext3 partitions without extreme measures, but that's another rant.)  So CAN SOME TOSHIBA ENGINEER PLEASE LET MANAGEMENT KNOW THEY'RE ABOUT TO DESTROY THEIR LAPTOP FRANCHISE OVER AUDIO ISSUES?  Just cut, paste, and forward a couple dozen of these threads.  Sure, it's a career risk but (wo)man up to it!  Audio really matters to laptop buyers nowadays ... without Skype, I'll have do carry Yet Another Device when I'm traveling.  Heck, I've personally bought at least 6 Toshiba laptops over the years and I'm starting to shop for a replacement.  Anything but Toshiba, I'm sorry to say :-(
Oh, in case somebody has an idea of something else I can try, the specific model is PPM70U-1KC01DB

  • Yet another major gripe with APE - restricting connection to home network

Yet another serious issue I have with APE is the fact that since very often, the computer just can't see the base station (even when it is located 30 inches from it...) it will just automatically connect to the next available open wifi network, which happens to be my neighbor's... that way I often finding myself surfing someone's else's unsecured network and it's ******* me off.
I tried to delete all wireless networks from system preferences/network/Airport but this does not makes a difference. Any idea on how to restrict my computer to the APE or at least have Mac OS warn me every time before it connects to an unsecured wireless network?
    Thanks.

Somewhat easy: I'm assuming you're using Leopard, mainly because I ran through the options from leopard. Other versions of OS X may have slightly different placement or names...
Click on the airport icon in the menu bar.
    Choose "Open Network Preferences"
    Select "Airport"
There's a checkbox labeled "Ask to join new networks" Make sure it is enabled.
Select "advanced..." (it's a button, lower right)
You can change the connection order by dragging your network to the top of the list.
You can also click on a connection you don't want, then click on the '-' button below it to remove that connection. (and at least the first time, the computer will ask you if you want to connect)
You can go a step futher, by de-selecting the checkbox labeled "Remember any network this computer has joined" That way it won't add anything to your list of 'remembered' networks.

  • Yet another "fail to respond".....

I've had a look around on the posts and can't find a problem that quite matches this. I bought my parents a G5 iMac with an external iSight just over a year ago. We've been using iChat happily since then, til today.
Originally I had G4 iMac with iSight on panther. Since then we've both upgraded to Tiger, and I've upgraded to a G5 iMac 2.1 with built in iSight. Still no problems. Just after christmas I invested in a Zoom ethernet modem and tonight was the first time since then we've tried to iChat. Depending on who's trying to accept the chat, they recieve the message that they have failed to respond.
Both firewalls are off and encryption is not enabled. This would suggest to me that it might be my new modem. So I powered up my old G4 connected with my old modem, but still no audio or videochats, with the same error messages.
I don't see why I should be getting the same problem with my old set up too when it worked fine before (G4 running Tiger too).
    Any thoughts?

    HI Veeto,
Ok your parents may have set up Port Forwarding like this (I can not UPnP listed on this screen shots).
UPnP stands for Universal Pug n Play.
It is one means of making sure the Ports in a cable or ADSL modem are open.
Port Forwarding is another and Port Tiggering is yet another.
Sometimes a cabele modem can be set as a Straight through device much like a USB modem.
An ADSL modem is likely to come with some ports pen by default which allow you to Plug and Play with your Web broswer and Mail applications and Send and get files over FTP.
However iChat uses ports ports above the 1024 threshold for these open ports. This means you have to open the ports.
If you have the Access IP and Default Password and User ID for your 5660ADSL modem then you will be able to do the same.
The page I linked you to has all the ports you need for AIM and Jabber accounts to work.
This is on of the other Zoom's Pages for the same thing. Similar but different.
You should be able to work out how to set yours up.
Ideally you need to use UPnP or Port Triggering to use two computers at one location with iChat as these both allow multiple computer to use the same ports (Port Forwarding does not).
It might be you have newer firmware on your modem than is shown in these pics and you might have UPnP.
    http://www.zoom.com/techsupport/adsl/adsl_x3.shtml (Firmware page).
I do not see that it says it has UPnP on thier site.

  • Carbon - yet another terminal emulator

    What is carbon?
Carbon is yet another terminal emulator aiming at minimalism, speed, functionality, and aesthetics. As an added bonus, the code is very modular.
Carbon is built on xcb instead of Xlib. There has yet, to my knowledge, a terminal emulator built like this. This should prove to provide a faster and more responsive terminal.
    Features
      * Support for managing different colour themes.
      * Ability to install custom escape sequence handlers.
      * Daemon mode much like urxvt, possibly with some degree of detaching/reattaching support.
While I haven't figured out how I'm going to handle configuration, I will utilize custom escape sequences to control certain settings. For example, unless I find it unsatisfactory, carbon will provide a shell script for theme changing/previewing, relying on escape sequences to tell the terminal what color theme to use.
The code it somewhat suckless inspired, it will utilize a config.h file by the time its done. However, I have a somewhat bigger aim on making carbon modular than most suckless projects. The terminal emulator back-end should be easily reusable other projects.
    Current status:
      * I can create a tty and read and write from it.
      * I can parse CSI escape sequences (but I ignore them for now)
      * I can read keypresses from a windows and send the appropriate character to to the tty (at time of posting, this is not committed to repo).
Not really worth running as it doesn't draw to the screen yet, but its getting there.
    Thanks to:
       * st, madtty: This project was largely written looking at how they did things; my code ranges from very similar to blatant rip-off.
       * Awesome: I gutted their keycode->keysym->string code to get input working. Kudos for adopting xcb.
Heres a link to the project on github: github.com/simongmzlj/carbon
Thanks for your time. Any comments, ideas, or criticisms would be appreciated.

Sorry, I really wasn't very clear, and I'm not positive how to say it.  I'm perfectly happy with being able to scroll through history.  That's a useful feature.  But consider this situation: You're checking out the git man files.  This gives you a page far longer than your terminal is, and you work your way down to the command you wanted to check out.  Then, when you quit, I prefer if the info stays on your screen instead of removing the git man page and going back to what you had before calling man.  Hopefully that makes sense.  If not, think the default behaviour of screen (prefered) vs. xterm.

  • Another 'old keyboard with new Palm' question

I have seen the posts about non-compatibility between older keyboards and newer Palms - mine is a slightly different question.
I have a Palm keyboard P10713U, which was designed to connect to the M100 etc. series of PDAs. I'm thinking of trading up to a Z22, and I was wondering whether anyone had sucessfully modified this keyboard to work with a mini-USB plug, and whether a keybaord plugged into the USB port would actually be recognised by a Z22.
This keyboard is well outside it's warranty, so I'd be happy to take a chance with it.
Any DIYers out there care to comment?
    Post relates to: Palm m100

as far as i know, nobody every attempted to modify the connectors of any palm branded keyboard as they are just having simple connectors like bluetooth, IR or docking style keyboard. since z22 is using a mini USB connector and doesn't have bluetooth capability, the only way it can connect to a keyboard is via IR. if there is a keyboard that uses a mini USB connector, it can possibly run in z22 provided it has the necessary drivers that can run on palm OS.

  • Slow DSL (Yet another one....)

I have been in contact with Verizon (via off shore support on their 'tech support line') over the past few months and I have YET to get this issue resolved. Since mid-summer 2010 I have been getting 1.6 meg or so speeds on my 3meg DSL line. Prior to that period I was getting 2.5 meg +. I have called in numerous times and I keep getting told they will perform a line test.... Well, the line is FINE it's my download speed that's hosed. My upload is the correct speed of 728 but for some reason my download speed has been slashed from 2.5 to ~1.5.
Verizon even sent me a new modem as my old westtel was from 2001 and it had no better, (perhaps even slightly slower!!!), speed results on JUST the download side.
Other Verizon DSL users suggest that there is some sort of bandwidth throttling or "error correcting" processes that can cause this sort of thing. I live right around 6,000ft or so from the switching station so I'm WELL within range to get the full benefit from my speed. No lines have changed inside the house in years, yet there is a decrease in speed none the less. I have tried various speed test sites, various combinations of network hardware between the PC and the router and nothing helps.
To make matters worse I called in last week and spoke to another off shore "tech" (script reader more like it), and after cutting him off from trying to walk me through a ton of useless steps that I've gone through about 4 dozen times already and telling him NOT to send out yet ANOTHER modem, had this gentleman tell me that he needed to work with the local dispatch center but it was closed. He arranged to call back the next day between 5 and 7 PM EST with them on the phone to further trouble shoot and get the problem solved. Fine. However, next day, I didn't receive a call back until almost 8:45PM .... AND he started the call off by asking, "So is your problem resolved?" ...... I promptly, and with as much patience as I could muster, told him, "Um, not unless you have done something to FIX it in the time since I last spoke to you..." ... To which he responded by starting the ENTIRE trouble shooting process over again and wanting to run a LINE TEST (which would have raised the count on JUST this one ticket to like 5 or 6!). I cut him off and told him we'd already DONE all that and he was SUPPOSED to call me back at 5:00 not 8:00 with someone from the dispatch so we could sort the problem out! He then told me the dispatch was closed and he'd have to call me back the next day between 3:00 and 5:00 PM EST with a supervisor tech on the line to help diagnose the issue.... That was last Friday... A week later and I still haven't heard from Verizon support.... So first time he was 3hours and 45 minutes late, the second time he was over a WEEK late!
At this point I'm fed up, yet I'm hoping that by posting this here someone MAY be able to help me and FINALLY restore my 3Meg DSL to it's former speed.

I have a LinkSys WRT 310N router between my internal network and the router or I'd pull you the transponder data. As for the other info you asked for: It's a Westel modem, and it's Windows 7 x64... Though every system in my home has the same speed results regardless of OS. Even if I remove the router and connect using the built in PPPoE connection in Windows I get the same speeds, so it's not OS or router related. The modem is a new modem, my old Westtel Wirespeed gave exactly the same results as the brand new westtel modem, so it's not the modem either unless BOTH are bad.
    ****EDIT****
I found a transponder log I'd taken when I first got the new westtel setup and posted on another forum:
    Transceiver Revision: 3.3.6.10.0.1
    Vendor ID Code: 4D54
    Line Mode: ADSL_2plus
    Data Path: Interleaved
DSL Speed: 2112 down and 860 Up
    Margin (dB): 12.0 and 10.3
Line Attenuation (dB): 33.1 and 15.0
Transmit Power (dBm): 17.9 and 12.2

  • S440 - Slightly different WIFI problem

I've read the other lengthy thread on the S440 wifi problem and i'm not sure if mine is slightly different as it has nothing to do with hebernation or sleep mode.
Basically, twice in the last week my wifi has dropped out. I've still been connected to the router, and all other devices in the home are connected and working fine, but my S440 cannot connect to the internet and i get the small yellow exclamation mark over my wifi icon.
The first time it happened, it eventually fixed itself the following day via the network centre trouble shooting, and it came up as some sort of IP address issue.
It happened again last night but it wouldn't fix itself this time. Although this morning, I booted up at the office and its working again.
Its definitely something to do with the laptop as both time all other devices have been ok.
Before i start downloading new drivers, i just wanted to check.
