Yet one more SharePoint feature that works better in Chrome than IE ?

Refer to this thread -
http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/154/p/300232/914427.aspx#914427
This behaviour has been confirmed by a MS support and MS technician and there is no apparent explanation.
How is it possible that we continually have problems with SharePoint in IE?  Are they not both Microsoft products and should work seamlessly?  Well here is yet another of a growing list of features that work OK in Chrome but not in IE.
I am using SharePoint. I have three calendar web parts in a 3-column table on a page.  When the calendar is empty it looks great.  When I put appointments in the calendar the size screws up and i sometimes get a scroll bar.  But only
in IE.  Works perfectly in Chrome.
IE....
Chrome...
Looking forward to an explanation and fix.
Mike in Cairns.
Mike

If I understand the post you linked to, there was a fix supplied which was to use a page that uses the three column text layout instead of using a three column table. Have you tried this approach?
Personally the issue to me sounds to be with the page rendering in Internet Explorer. I'm not trying to excuse Microsoft but this wouldn't be the first time IE didn't load a web page "correctly" while other browsers did. That it's working in other
browsers suggests to me the issue isn't with SharePoint though perhaps it could be loading different HTML, CSS, or JavaScript if the user has IE.
From your screenshots it looks to me like you're using SharePoint 2013 or SharePoint Online. Is this the case? As well, which version of IE are you using?

  • After one more Windows update Firefox became VERY heavy - worse than IE (search has no paging any more - just 1 gigantic list of things, etc). Any solutions?

My notebook is 5 years old, but works good and I dont want to change it now. Yet, the more Window updates I do the HEAVIER is the work with web browsers.
I gave up on IE and switched to Firefox because it was much lighter for a long time. But since a few days ago even simple image search with Firefox gets up to 200 000 kb of my CPU (just like IE used to do) compared with 100 000kb with the very same Firefox just a couple of months before. And so, Firefox now slows my computer enormously.
Is there any way lighter versions of Firefox or some way firefox can recognize older computers that can't tackle so much of weight? Or perphaps uninstalling some plug-ins will help?
Example - things like searching for Video or Images, which, since recently, bring pageless results, where you scroll down forever, slows my computer a lot....
ps. I really don't believe it is a virus.

    Tsiqa,
Try FF4 it's miles qucker the 3.6.*. I loaded FF4 because 3.6.13 was so slow. Also try removing it and re-installing (3.6.13). There are still some sites that won't fully work with FF4, that's why I'm still running both.

  • LR 1.1 Features that Work

Here are the things I like:
    1. Speed is fabulous
    2. Creating a new folder is much improved. It doesn't dump you into Windows to do it.
    3. Templates in Web are organized into LR and User
    4. You can preselect photos and have them moved to the new folder, just like in Collections. Much better.
    5. I don't remember the "rolling the mouse/cursor over the folder/collection/lens/iso/aperture/camera/shutter speed/file type/date/location/creator/label displays the first photo" feature. Maybe it was so slow, it was not worth much but it sure helps to identify what your metadata etc. really contains.
    6. The text search with the Anywhere capability seems awesome. Very fast and easy way to find photos if the text is "anywhere". Those who would say "already had this" forget that speed makes capability work.
    7. Clarity in combination with Vibrance is great.
    8. I am sure there are more, but this should whet your appetite.

Actually, the 1.1 help can be found in the installation files directory under documentation. There is a list of "what's new in 1.1".
    Specifically:
    New features in Lightroom 1.1
Create and open catalogs A catalog is how Lightroom tracks the location of files and remembers information about them. A catalog is called a library or library database in Lightroom 1.0. In Lightroom 1.1, the terminology has been updated and you can easily create and open different catalogs in Lightroom 1.1.
Import and export catalogs Export a group of selected photos as a new catalog or import photos from another catalog into an existing catalog.
Synchronize folders Synchronizing folders provides the option of adding files that have been subsequently added to the folder but not imported into the catalog, removing files that have been deleted, and scanning for metadata updates. The photo files in the folder and all subfolders can be synchronized. You can determine which folders,
    subfolders, and files are imported.
Enhanced DNG export settings DNG (digital negative) file creations now support the full set of conversion options. You can specify the JPEG preview size, select an image conversion method, specify a lossless compression, and determine whether to embed the original camera raw file. Lightroom lets you update the DNG preview on request.
Additional metadata fields and presets The Metadata panel includes new options for large captions and location. The panel also includes new options for e-mail, URLs, and more. You can perform many actions, such as resolving metadata conflicts and opening a folder, by clicking the buttons to the right of the metadata fields.
Hierarchical template folders Template panels now let you create additional folders with parent-child relationships. For photographers with a growing number of develop, print or web presets, this folder structure provides additional options for organizing photos.
You can also store presets with the catalog file for easy mobility.
Painter tool In Lightroom 1.0, you apply keywords to multiple images in Grid view by using the Keyword Stamper tool. In Lightroom 1.1, the Painter tool replaces the Keyword Stamper tool. Not only can you use the Painter tool to apply keywords to photos, you can also apply labels, flags, ratings, develop settings, metadata, and rotation settings. You can click photos or drag across them as if painting.
Remove Red Eye and Remove Spot tool enhancements In Lightroom 1.1, the Remove Red Eye tool has been improved to make it easier to detect and remove red eye. The Remove Spot tool has also been improved to make it
easier to repair blemishes in photos.
New develop settings In the Develop module, noise reduction and sharpening tools have been improved, and the Basic panel includes a new clarity control for adding extra punch to your images.
For information on additional changes, see the product readme file.

  • HP All-in-One 6510: full features not working

On one of my computers (desktop), I can only print, using  HP A10 Remote.  On the other computer (laptop), I can't print.
Both computers are running Windows 8.1 (64 bit).
I tried unloadinng and reloader printer...same problem
On the desktop, although I can print, the full feature sofware is not functional.  So, I am unable to change to Greyscale; nor can I scan from the printer.
This problem occured about two week ago and I have been struggling with it since then.
    Any ideas, or suggestions.
Someone told me that there is problem in HP and that is why HP came up with the the" HP A10 Remote" applications.  Comments?

    Hi,
Firstly AIO (or AiO for All-in-One) not A10 is an app for mobile devices normally (such as phones, tablets). For standard laptops and desktops we use proper Software and Drivers. Have you installed software and drivers on the CD to your machines (desktop and laptop) yet ?

  • SPSS - where to download one for macbook pro that works

    Hey Guys!
I have a very big problem, for my uni it is required for me to use SPSS and of course my university is mac unfriendly.
So I have a question if anyone know of the link for a free trial version of SPSS for Macbook pro 10.6.8.
    Take Care

    Welcome to the forum, mladizi!
Remember that Google is your friend.
The IBM website has a 14-day trial of version 21.
Comparison of versions 18-21 for Mac OS 10.5-10.8.
    mladizl wrote:

It may seem that way if you see more PCs than Macs. Consider checking with the University's IT Department or Bookstore to see if they have a relation with some of the retailers of academic version software such as OntheHub. These retailers offer discounts on purchase or rental of many types of software such as the SPSS GradPack. See the links to Student versions on that web page.
    Good Luck!

  • Yet one more production question: search topics

This might be another pain in the rear question, but I am
looking for a way to globally replace text throughout all topics.
Does Robo have a way to search through ALL topics so that I
can replace text? (This isn't something right now that can be
handled via snippets or variables as the original text is not in a
variable or a snippet. We've decided to change some phrasing and I
am looking for keywords that I can highlight/find so I can reword
the text. I very well may be able to insert snippets or variables
during editing, but will want to locate all instances of a
    particular word or phrase.)
    I have about 50 - 60 separate topics in a project and I'd
like not to have to eye ball each topic in order to find the
    string/phrase.
    Thanks!

    Hi there
RoboHelp does offer a utility called Multi-file find and
replace. But it's probably only reliable for single words. If you
want something fancier and more robust, consider BK ReplacEm or
    FAR.

  • Are there fonts that work better/worse with Chrome?

My organization uses Trebuchet MS and it looks perfect when viewing our .pdf's in Safari, but does not look good in Chrome. Some of the lines are bolded for no reason. Is this a common problem and is there  better font to use?

This is the .PDf in question:  http://www.waldronhr.com/images/stories/Position_Specifications/seattleaquarium_devdir.pdf
It looks fine when viewed in Safari, but when viewed on Chrome, some of the white text looks bold (it shouldn’t) and other lines do not appear bold.
    Thanks for any suggestions!

  • Unable to install FCS2 on a new mac that has better spec's than min. req,

I got 2 new MacPro's with 2x 3.2Ghz Quads, 16gigs RAM, Nvidia 8800GT's, Snow Leapord fully updated, Each has the OS on VelociRaptor Drives and a extra 3TB of space......
My problem is when I try and install Final Cut Studio 2 on them...It says
I dont have the "Hardware" to install the app. Last I checked the above spec's
were better than the minimal requirements.
So I am wondering if anyone else has this issue and what they did to work around this. Do I need to download a patch or a hotfix ?

They install on as many as ya want...ya just cant run it at the same time from 2 machines. So I am fully aware of those issues. We have 5 copies of FCS we work from. I am simply transfering software to a new machine and giving the slower computer to a coworker who is part-time (plus she doesnt use FCS so it gets deleted from old one).
Per the point when it "errors"....it's in the begining when the install software checks the hardware. The check comes back as "not having the hardware to run FCS".
It's really odd and I cant figure it out.

  • IOS 6.0.1 working better for me than 6.0, How about you?

I have an iPhone 4S and it got pretty buggy when I updated to iOS 6.0.  I waited as long as I could before updating to  6.0.1 but when I saw the story on Engadget about iOS 6.0 causing a lot of phones to repeatedly download the same data/apps/texts, etc. I took the plunge and updated to 6.0.1.
Glad I did.  After I installed the update using iTunes and not OTA I did a reset, ran the battery down to zero and charged it for about 10 hours.  Today the battery life is as good as I have seen it since I updated from 5.X and the wifi connection problems I had been having seem to be resolved.  The 6.0.1 update was only suppsed to fix the wifi issues for iPhone 5 but whatever they put into this update seems to havre really helped.
I also started setting Proxy to Auto on public wifi networks and this really made a difference when I try to log on to them.  I can now actully connect without having to restart/reset my phone and network settings.  And I stay connected.
I am considering updating my iPad to 6.0.1 but I may just wait until they release 6.1, which looks like it will be around new y

It's been five days since I posted my question.  And I have been very happy with the performance of my phone.  Wifi is great now that I disovered that putting proxy on Auto seems to help with most hotspots, especially at work.  Battery life is really good.  I can get through the day with normal use, make and receive phone calls, send and receive text messages, use normal apps, play games, look things up on the web, etc.  Nothing really heavy but normal usage for me and I am at 30 - 35% battery left at midnight when I plug my phone back in to charge over night.
Now that AT&T has finally given up on holding those of us with unlimited data plans hostage from using Facetime over Cellular ( I have a 4S running iOS 6.0.1) I may give that a try to see what happens with my battery life there.
It will be interesting to see what happens when 6.1 is released and what it fixes or breaks.
