  • I have 3X YOGA 10 freeze - factory reset not working

    I bought 3 lenovo yoga B8000-F 10 January 2014 none of them work. it is frozen on the logo LENOVO. recovery factory reset not possible

    Lenovo Phone Support are suggesting I take it back to the shop where I bought it (was on vacation interstate in Australia - if Lenovo want to send me the flight, I'll definitely take it back  )
    This looks like a firmware bug and it seems to be endemic - interesting that it's just happened for me too, roughly 100 days since purchase...
    Also found that the warranty was shown on the Lenovo system as being months before purchase - my receipt is 8/1/14, their record is 23/10/13
    Can not get any message out of the tablet other than that it is in Meta Mode - it won't get to Factory reset.....

  • Factory Reset not Working U310 touch

    Purchased this laptop a few months ago for daughter to take to college in a few weeks. It constantly hung up and wouldn't shut down so I tried to do a factory reset using the One-Key button on the side.  The screen said it worked and gave me the option of shutting down or restarting so I tried to restart but now it is just spinning. It just spins and spins (the icon) for hours. How long should this take? Should I interrupt this with a hard stop or try something else. This is the second "factory" reset I've tried and I am not getting a good feeling about this.

    Definitely having issues restoring the laptop to factory defaults. It goes through the restore, then this time I opted to shutdown. Waited 15 minutes and then hit the power button. Screen just sits there displaying "Lenovo" and the rotating dots just turn and turn. It has been 10 minutes. Even my old dell boots faster than that. What do I do now? There are no optical drives and the boot option never takes me to a Bios.

  • Miix 2 10 freezing - hard reset not working

    Hello! For the second time in a few days my miix 2 10 decided not to wake up again. The windows button makes it vibrate. But no reactions beside that. Last time the error disappeared after some time, I dont' know why. Would not be a big deal to me beside this fact: Right now I am not able to perform a hard reset. What are the options to do a hard reset? Is it pressing the power button for more than 10 seconds? Does not work. Pressing both volume and power button? Does not work. What to do? Any help is greatly appreciated! Kind regards,Jan

    Got my Miix 2 10" on Monday 15. Performed a lot of Windows uptates, unistalled Mc Affee and connected a Bluetooth mouse. Then the tablet lost contact with the keyboard and track-pad. Tried to restore Windows, but got a message telling me no recovery partition was found. Then the screen went black. The tablet did not recognise the power switch, and it was impossible to reset or switch it off. Pressed the button for more than one minute. Funny thing is the mouse pointer from the bluetooth mouse moved around, but nothing else was visible. I could see in my router that the tablet was connected to my Wi-Fi, so it was not completely dead. Left it over-night and tested it in the morning, but still not able to wake it up or shut it down. Back from work in the evening it had obviously drained the batteries, and wake up normally when connected to the charger.  When the batteries was fully charged I switched it off (not sleep). It was not possible to switch it on again without using the charger. I have not been able to replicate this, but it is not a good feeling to have a mobile unit that can lock itself up completely, or not wake up without external power.... Windows log files indicates that it shut down because of power loss about 15 hours after the initial freeze.The bluetooth mouse was installed with standard Windows driver. Tablet is European / Nordic version manufactured 12. jan 2014. Bios is 95CN12WW, 25.12.2013. I do really hope Lenovo manage to sort of the trouble with this tablet. Its quite nice, and I like it except the scary feeling of being stuck with a brick.

  • Factory Reset not working

    I've upgraded to a newer phone and now my Droid X is now sitting around collecting dust, I have tried to reset the entire phone and even used a hard reset / wipe but its still not resetting correctly. Hence, this phone has been rooted before... any ideas how I can completely reset the phone back to it's original state? Or just root it back and then sell it?

    What your asking cant be answered here. Google your questions. Lots of how to to straighten out your phone and get it to out of box condition.

  • Yoga 2 Pro Touch screen not working

    I've had no problems with my yoga 2 pro for over a month, but last night I decided to do windows updates.  This is the model with the i7, and 8gb of ram.  I let it update and then restarted it.  After it started up, I tried to swipe the cover screen up, but nothing was happening.  I then decided to use the mouse, and soon realized that the touch screen was unresponsive.  I've tried to restore the computer to before the updates, but it hasn't fixed the problem.  I can still switch to tablet and stand mode, etc. and the screen will rotate, but I can not get the touch screen to respond to anything.  I tried to install some drivers, but none of them are for the touch screen as far as I know, and nothing else seems to work.  Does anyone know a fix, or maybe know of a driver I need to install?

    Hey mgollery,
    Sorry that you are having this issue. Do you know what might have caused this at least? Did you plug in any USB devices recently or does the touchscreen disable after you plug it in? Did you install any programs recently? Do you have the most updated drivers? Do you leave it on long enough for it to go into sleep mode?
    Btw, you should check out this other thread here:
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Windows-based-Tablets-and/Yoga-touchscreen-not-working/td-p/902131/...
    Some people got it working by uninstalling recently installed software, updating video card drivers, and others have just had to get it replaced.
    If none of the uninstalls, updates, drivers stuff works, I would do the following (like the others have said in this list), but please be careful (stuff might break):
    - Do a system restore (to a point where it worked before)
    - If that doesn't work, do a windows refresh
    - If that doesn't work, I'd call Lenovo and see what tech support can do to help. They will try to update stuff for you and if that doesn't work, they will literally try to reset your computer basically to factory settings (Lenovo actually has their own program that tries to reset stuff)
    - If that doesn't work, and you can't live without a touchscreen, I'd call up Lenovo or if you are still on the phone with them,  get them to replace it. They handle all the shipping and while it sucks to not have it for a couple of weeks, you at least get the computer you paid for.
    Ultimately, what happened to me was that none of the little tricks worked. System restore didn't work. Windows refresh didn't work. Then I called them and they basically told me to do the same things. This time though, during the refresh, some bug happened where it screwed up the refresh so I couldn't even start Windows anymore and it bricked my computer. Then they even had me go through the Lenovo refresh thingy which didn't work. At the end, I ended up shipping it back to them to fix and I think they basically just gave me a new Yoga 2 Pro. The whole process sucked, but at least now my touchscreen works and I never plug my fitbit into the USB port anymore.
    Hope that helps.

  • Factory Reset not an option anymore

    Hi, I am posting in the hope that someone might know better what exactly is going on with my brand new R61. My problem is that Factory Reset is not an option anymore in Rescue and Recovery. Short history of events: Laptop came with Vista. Shrank its partition with Disk Management. Booted from XP64 setup disk, installed it to new partition created in the unallocated space. Discovered no drivers from Lenovo, wanted to do a factory reset. ThinkVantage button didn't take me anymore to the RnR environment, instead it showed me a "Startup List" of some sort. Used Lenovo Recovery Repair to fix MBR. Blue Button still doesn't work, but F11 does, it goes into RnR. However there is no Factory State Reset option under Restore system. I don't have Recovery disks, cause their creation failed. Any ideas?

  • Yoga 2 Pro factory reset (in ubuntu 14.04)

    Hey,
    i bought a Yoga 2 Pro ~2 months ago and though i had little doubts on win8 I immediately started to love the whole system - the hardware as well as the software.
    So, I'm on my M.Sc. of computer science and for that (and for private reasons, too) I need linux. Until a week ago I used ubuntu 14.04 in a VM but due to the breathtaking resolution of the y2p it did not work for my complete satisfaction.
    Then i wanted to install linux on a usb stick, but that went horribly wrong: I accidentally formatted the ssd and installed linux on the y2p instead of the usb stick (as student of computer science -.-).
    So, after the first panic attacks I thought about keeping linux as OS but now I know for sure that I want the old OS back.
    Thus I formatted the ssd completely, the system recovery function of lenovo is not available anymore. Trying to make a bootable win8 usb stick is not working since the win license key is not readable from bios in linux.
    Are there any ways to get back to factory settings in my situation?
    Regards,
    fenriz

    There are tons of different partitions on the pre-installed system, you can find the details here There should be a recovery image somewhere, on one of them...(that's how that tends to work nowadays, since ultrabooks don't usually have CD drives)
    Start up the disk using the NOVO button (the tiny one next to the power button) and choose "Recover system". The recover to "factory defaults" or something of that kind (unless you deleted the other partitions when installing Ubuntu...)

  • HP system restore and factory reset not completing

    Hello.
    1:  Person tried a system restore to fix a user profile problem but once booted the OS changed the  user profile to "temporary" every time, checked the original profile but only the avatar was left , all other personal info was gone.
          Working through "profiles list" in the registry and setting back to the original user profile from temp profile didn't work and went back to temporary.
          Complete erasure  reset of all user profiles includig in the registry didn't work either. Went back to temporary profile.
          It was no use to save any files while the OS was in this stat as every reboot would remove the files including in the temp profile.
     2:  Tried all basic boot/DOS HP recovery for installed windows OS with no success, all system restore backups back several months failed.
    3:  Tried a factory reset twice and while it did restore for the most part with the automated drivers installed the HP recovery  returns an error that factory reset did not or could not complete itself.  This was attempted twice.
          While one could shut down the HP error screen in windows 8 and continue the failed reset booting error was still logged and it defaults to the HP receovery which ends up looping over and over again.
           while still in windows once the HP error is closed one can goto the usual user name and password so  that was done  twice and with the simplest password.
           Problems compounded when the OS rebooted and asked for user name and password, which returned "not valid" over and over again.   One time i entered the user "administrator" with the password "admin" and it worked, it started loading but then returned invalid username or password.  Point being that  that was not the actual user name and passowrd that was chosen and confirmed.
           This part of the problem is the same as the first problem
    3A:  I wiped the main and system partitions and reformatted them  and ran then HP factory reset once again, it restored faster than the first attempt, however it dropped to the same username/password error and i can't even get into safe mode any longer.
    Again the system boot sequence registeres the restore as incomplete but i can boot select OS which is how i am able to get into windows to test the User/pass.
    4:  I beleive that there is hardware malfunction with the hard drive controler in this system as i noticed that UEFI is intermitant no matter what settings you set in the BIOS/CMOS.  When UEFI boot CD/DVD does appear in the boot selection it can't detect the cd/dvd drive or a USB drive "invalid device".
         Many of the boot options even when set in the bios will not always appear in the boot selector on every power up that includes legacy.
          While i can boot from CD/DVD with the legacy boot selection. I can't install windows 8 or 7 becasue the HD is A GPT and without UEFI i don't get advanced options in the windows OS install partition setup.  Windows 7 or 8 won't install becasue the HD partition is a GPT format even after i wipe those paritions and make new ones with basic NTFS.
          I could LLF the HD and hope that i could install windows 7 but the UEFI being intermitent would probably return the same resutls as the HP factory reset.   Similar problem with older computers when enabling AHCI in windows.
         If i LLF the HD i loose the HP recovery completely.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    Hello.   The laptop is an HP Pavilion dv6 notebook PC
    I have since LLF'd the HD and installed windows 8.1.  It's still touchy but it's working for the time being.
    A: The laptop's owner did a standard windows system restore
    B: I did two windows system restores  as well as backups.
    C:  Yes i usd the F11 at boot  recovery system to run windows system restores, cleanings, and finally the factory reset. Which is obvious as i stated above that if wiped both main windows partitions and it helped the factory restore speed so only restoring an image will replace the OS on the now empty partition.
    D:  No i didn't keep the failed restore logs as they were randomly scrambled with all the recover cycle loops (both times).
     Also i should mention that the factory restore once it failed the completion i got "insufficient sapce"  error as well  which i am guessing that it's trying to write the log file.
    If memory serves there was only 40mb left on the recovery partition.  Yes MB not GB.

  • Yoga 2 13 brightness keys not working - it was TeamViewer monitor driver

    Hello, I have two Yoga 2 13's - I think both the 59403750 model. Both have the same specs.
    In one of those Yogas the brightness keys - "F11" and "F12" - do not work and it is full 100% brighness all the time. In the other (good) Yoga they seem to work OK - at least I can get the brighness down a few notches.
    When I press and hold the Fn key to get F11 or F12 to work the *seem* to do what F11 or F12 would do normally - e.g. in a word processor or browser. So it seems maybe just the brighness function of those keys are not working.
    Lenovo has calimed that this is not a hardware problem and they are not responsibile for it under warranty.
    I have done a little reading some time ago and seen something similar that was maybe fixed by installing updated video drivers. Well, that did not work - as of a couple months ago. At the time I also updated the BIOS - again no luck.
    Any ideas /inputs you might have are appreciated. Thank you.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    scf /scannow 'found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log' and then something about 'not normally suppoorted in offline servicing'.
    I'm reading from MS Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files and in the mean time I'm also doing a chkdsk /r just to make sure that's not an issue before I start trying to repair any files. Both were refirbs (still under warranty) - so who knows about the HDDs. Luckilly I may have the other one to pull files from if necessary - if it is something that easy.
    It's been doing this since pretty much the day I got it. I've never seen it work right on this one.
    I appreciate the tip to factory restore but that is always the last option IMHO. That's a lot of time for me to get this thing back the way I want it. There has to be a fix for this silliness - I'll keep working on it and write back when I know more. Thank you very much for the help. If you think of anything else let me know.

  • Just for variety - Hard Reset not working anyone ?

    Anyone else having problems with actually getting their Time Capsule to Hard Reset (never mind the reasons for needing to reset in the first place!) ?
    Depressing the reset button for 5, 10, 15 seconds doesn't produce amber blinking on the unit I'm just trying to set up, and doesn't appear to cause any changes either. And whilst depressing the reset whilst plugging in/powering on does produce fast amber blinking, once the unit eventually decides to get to a point where I can access it with Airport Utility, it does not appear to have reset to factory defaults, it still has my disk and network name, and passwords.
    Anyone else experienced this ?
    The above aside, I did initially get it to raise a satisfactory Airport network for a while, but then just before I attempted an initial backup of one of the several machines it's supposed to be serving, I accepted a prompted firmware upgrade to 7.3.2, and from that point on, problems: Airport Utility couldn't find it for a while, disk intermittently wouldn't mount even over ethernet, etc,etc. Noticed on the board that some were feeling 7.3.2 was dodgy, so downgraded to 7.3.1 again (what it came with, I think), and even just had a stab at 7.3 - it's just not behaving at all now, on any version, though it can still occasionally be coached into providing an Airport network, and bridging ethernet, ok.
    But throughout all this, I don't think I've actually managed to get it to properly hard reset even once.
    Be very grateful to hear any thoughts or comments, or of any similar experiences - otherwise I guess it's back to the shop for a swap.
    Andy.

        Hello moxim! Let's figure this out. I am sorry your device is still not working. After a Hard Reset, your next step would be to review warranty options. Please reply to my Direct Message, and I'd be happy to check into this further.

  • 2nd gen iPod touch - Factory restore not working

    I'm trying to factory restore my 2nd gen ipod touch.  I figured I could simply choose the factory reset in the setting and it would do it's thing.  Now it says it needs to connect to iTunes in order to complete the process.  However, when I plug my phone into my (windows) PC, iTunes doesn't recognize it.  It makes the normal sounds and starts charging, so I know the PC recognizes that it's connected, but iTunes will not.  now, I can't do anything on the ipod - it just sits there like a brick,   help!

    Tap Settings > WiFi > your network name (or at least the one with the check mark). Tap the little blue > next to the name. Look at Device IP - if it starts with 169.x then your router has not issued you an IP address
    You also should have "Renew Lease" and "Forget this Network" buttons. Try pressing Renew Lease to see if you then get a valid response from your router.
    If this doesn't work you can try these things:
    1. Reboot your router (just unplug the power cord for a minute, then plug back in). If this doesn't fix it, try disabling security to rule that out.
    2. Reset the touch network settings - tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    3. When the touch restarts, tap Settings > WiFi > other and re-enter your network name, security, and network password.
    There is more troubleshooting info [in this support article|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398].
    Hope this helps.

  • Screen is frozen on apple logo and standard reset not working

    All of a sudden the apple logo appeared on the screen of my 6th generation ipod classic and the standard process to reset will not work although I've attempted it numerous times. I also noticed that my ipod is not being recognized by either My Computer in Windows 7 or ITunes. I need help desperately!

    So you can't the iPod to boot past the Apple logo? What happens if you try to manually force it into Disk Mode? Does that work?  If so, you can try connecting it to your PC and iTunes in that mode to see if that will iTunes or your PC recognize it long enough for you to perform a restore operation.

  • Af:query + reset not working

    Hi,
    I am using jdev 11g(Version 11.1.1.3.0) .
    I created a view object for a table with query which has a where clause( the clause expects a date from the user).
    then i dragged the All queriable attributes on the jspx page as query with table option.
    it renders a search region with iinputext(case id) and input as date(calendar) and a table below it which is rendered as per the input.
    Everything works normal, but when i click on the Reset button rendered in the search section, it does not clear the date field.
    if i write soemthing in case id field, that is cleared on the reset but the value entered by clicking the calendar is not resetted.
    Besides on reset, it does not clear the table as well. Well from what i have been reading i assume i will have to reset the table programmatically.
    But i am not so sure how to approach this situation.
    Will highly appreciate if i can get any suggestions or point me to appropriate links.
    Thanks in advance
    ash

    Hi,
    When i try to programmatically reset the table, it does reset it but the problem is after resetting if enter a search criteria and click on search again, nothing shows up.
    If i do a search before clicking on reset, it works fine, but afer reset the search stops working??
    Any idea why this could be happening?
    Following is teh reset code which i am refereing
        if(QueryOperationEvent.Operation.RESET.equals(queryOperationEvent.getOperation())){
          AppModuleImpl am = this.getAm();
          ViewObject submittalVO = am.findViewObject("AcrSubmittallogView1");
           submittalVO.setNamedWhereClauseParam("bind_date", "");
           submittalVO.executeQuery();
           AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(resId1);
        queryOperationEvent.getComponent().processUpdates(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance());
    on the jspx page, have added the following code in af:query component
      <af:query id="qryId1" headerText="Search" disclosed="true"
                                  value="#{bindings.ImplicitViewCriteriaQuery.queryDescriptor}"
                                  model="#{bindings.ImplicitViewCriteriaQuery.queryModel}"

  • Reset NOT Working

    For the past month my Time Machine hasn't been able to keep its network up for more than about 5 minutes. Sometimes when I do a hard reset (take out the power and ethernet internet feed cables then re-plug them after a couple minutes) it will come back and the network will work (though only for 5-10 minutes). Other times the reset does not work at all.
    The obvious reasons for this being annoying are: I can't get on the web and I can't back up my computer.
    Anyone have any thoughts?

    You may do better in the Time Capsule or Airport forums, as many of us here (like me) aren't very familiar with them.
    Those forums are hidden in the DIgital Life section, at: http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=140
