Yoga 13 Extremely Poor Wifi Speeds

I currently have the most recent driver installed(1.04.0213) and all other current W8 updates are installed, but I am still experiencing poor WiFi performance. I have also changed the wireless adapter setting power saving mode to Maximum Performance for both the "On battery" and "Plugged in" options in Windows 8's advanced power options menu.
I also have the following options set on the advanced tab for the Realtek WLAN card:
Antenna Diversity Type: 1
Bandwidth: 20_40Mhz
Selective Suspend: Disabled
Selective Suspend Timeout: 60
WiFi Config: Performance
After the most recent driver update, my connectivity issues were resolved, but my speed issues were not. My current set up is as follows:
PC: Lenovo Yoga 13 w/Realtek RTL8732A Wireless LAN 802.11n
Router: RT-N56U IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n,  IEEE 802.3/3u/3ab (Firmware is up to date)
I rarely am able to exceed 10 Mbps and am lucky to average between 1-2 Mbps. I currently pay for Frontier Fios Internet rated at 35 Mbps down and 15 Mbps up. Websites take a ridiculous amount of time to load and YouTube videos can't be played without constant buffering.
Every other device that I have connected to my router, whether they are hard wired or wireless, is able to maintain 30-35 Mbps, even at peak usage times. I currently have a MacBook Pro, an iPad 3, HTC One(M7), Iphone 5, Asus Essentio, and an Asus X54C laptop that are all operating as expected on my network.
I know similar threads exist on the message boards for the Yoga 13, but none of the "Solutions" address this issue. Please address this issue and post a solution that is a permanent fix for this laptop! It has the potential to be an amazing device, but the WiFi issues are keeping it from reaching its true potential!

  • Extremely Poor WIFI. Now have Bluetooth issues.

I have been having an extremely poor WIFI connection. I recently upgraded to 10.4.6 and noticed this problem. Is there something wrong with 10.4.6 that would cause this or is it an internal problem with my PowerBook? Also is there anyway to check the AirPort card on my laptop?
Well I am editing this to add another issue, i just noticed that my blue tooth just went unavailable. My bluetooth icon in the menu bar has a squigle through it. When I click on it it says that it is not available.
    Thanks in advance.

As far as the wifi connection, powerbooks are notorious for poor reception. I haven't heard of 10.4.6 causing any new issues, but people have been complaining about the powerbooks' reception for a long time. iBooks and most pc laptops get better reception. In newer aluminum models, you can't check the airport card. It's inside the unit. In 1.25 aluminum powerbooks, I know you could access the airport card through the battery bay.
For your bluetooth issue, I'd recommend restarting first of all. If that doesn't help, I'd reset your power management unit. You can find directions for your particular model here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449
If that doesn't help, I'd boot from your software disc and run disk utility.
Let us know if that does any good.

  • Yoga 2 11 Poor Wifi connection and slow.

My Yoga 2 11 is getting worse wifi speeds than my GS3 smartphone, I have already tried updating the drivers. I have installed all the drivers that came in the sub-partition of my laptop and also went to the lenovo website and got the latest WLAN and LAN drivers. At home my wired speed is 6Mbps while when the laptop is right next to my router and at full bars at best it gives me 1Mbps internet connection. One or two bars less and I get dropped to .5Mbps speeds. Please advise.

Maybe the wifi antenna cables are damaged? You'd need to take it apart to see if it is.

  • 5s poor wifi speeds

Had my 5s (a1533 gsm) two days now. I have a Linksys EA4500.  My wifi speeds range from ok to downright bad. I tested at work using a lesser equipped Linksys router, and although not terrible they weren't great compared with my iPhone 5 (a1429).  Anyone else having slow wifi issues? I've tested a couple other wifi devices and compared with my iPhone 5 and nothing else is affected. I rebooted the router but still slow. Running iOS 7.0.1. Comcast is ISP. Tried two different speedtest apps. Poor performance is noticeable without speedtest apps. At work there is less of a problem.

I'll add my 2 cents... of annoyance!
First, I have an iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s, updated to iOS 7.0.4
Second, I have an iPhone 4s, fully updated (note, this phone does NOT have issues with WiFi)
    TESTS:
I will confirm that if I turn OFF Bluetooth on the iPhone 5s (not tested yet on iPhone 5), that I get my full "stable" 2.4Ghz spectrum back!
I'm using a Lynksis EA4500 router, fully updated.  I thought at first that it was the router, but I've now tested signal from several devices: ASUS laptop with a Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 card in it (handles huge range), Dell XPS 18, with a Killer Wireless-N 1202 (great range), I have also a Wii U, Blu-ray player, and ROKU attached via WiFi, None of these show problems with the 2.4 range (esspecially streaming on the ROKU).
So, in final... it must not be a hardware issue on the iPhone 5s, but may more a software issue?!  And now I'm annoyed that I have to be mildly inconvenienced by having to turn on/off my bluetooth.  Sad Day!
Apple, if your listening, can we get this fixed? please.

  • Extremely slow wifi speeds after Yosemite install

I "upgraded" to Yosemite and now my wifi speeds on this machine (iMAC) are extremely slow, like crawling. Was fine this morning before update. All other devices in the house (iphones, ipad, macbook pro) are all running normal fast speeds. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this? Missing Mavericks already.

I saw a big (huge) change in wifi speeds after Yosemite upgrade, it was more noticeable the farther away from the router I was. I moved closer to the Router and speed was back to normal.
You can check your connection by pressing at the same time alt(option) and the wifi icon (at top of menu bar), a drop down list will show the connection's stats, look for TX Rate towards the bottom. After upgrade my TX Rate dropped to 5 Mbps! I moved closer to the Router, and TX Rate improved to 146 Mbps, Safari was browsing at normal speeds again.
I read other discussions, found a suggestion to rename my location, in System Preferences - Network - WiFi, at top of panel Location, mine was named Automatic (the default). As suggested, I clicked on the arrows, selected edit, and renamed the location, name it anything you like... I restarted the computer, and luckily enough my TX  Rate at the farthest location from Router improved from 5Mbps to 39 Mbps. Still slower than before, never saw it below 80's. Don't know if the restart or the change of location name did the trick, maybe it was that Yosemite needed time to adjust to its new environment, regardless, there was some improvement.
I think there is an issue with Yosemite and WiFi that causes the TX Rate to drop more than with Mavericks as the distance from Router increases. Does not sound logical, but that is what the connection stats are saying!

  • Extremely poor wifi reception

    Hi,
I have a brand new EliteBook 8470p with a Broadcom wifi card. I have a very, very poor wifi reception. Only if I am 2 or 3 meters from the wifi hub, in open view will I receive correctly the wifi. The transfer rate drops dramaticaly if I go further away. I opened the service cover to have a look at the wifi card. There are two wires connected for the antenna, labelled 1 and 2. There are 3 other wires in standby, labelled main (red label), aux (blue label) and MMO or MMD (yellow label), can't read clearly.
Is there any chance that the antenna has been incorrectly connected. I can't believe a commercial product would have such a miserable reception capability ...
    Please help
    Oliver

I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/ .
    I hope this helps.

  • R6300 poor wifi speed with upgraded internet speed

Hi! Recently Comcast upgraded my internet speed to 75Mb from 45MB. I have a Netgear R6300 router and when I was at 45 MB the router was able to run WIFI at 45MN too. Now that I have 75MB - 80MB shooting thru the modem my router hardly can run WIFI at 20MB? Anybody experienced this issue? I called CC TS and the rep told me that they are having a lot of people calling with similar issues with Netgear routers and Xfinity... He offered no explanations why at all. His recommendation? Buy a new router... or get one of theirs... are they kidding me? This makes no sense to me. I rather move to Charter than going and buy a new router because CC can't get along with Netgear routers. Help please, anybody? Thanks

  • Airport Extreme Poor WiFi Performance

I've been doing periodic bandwidth tests with speedtest.net for several years now. I have an account, so my results are saved. I do them from a Mac Mini and also from my iPad.
The MacMini is hardwired to an Airport Extreme. The iPad is, of course, using WiFi. Usually it is on the 5GHz network, but sometimes (I have no idea why) it selects the 2.4GHz network. The 5GHz network is "n only", the 2.4GHz network is b/g/n. Security is WPA/WPA Personal. The Airport Extreme is on firmware 7.6.1. (I rolled back in December, a couple of months after I noticed the degraded WiFi performance.)
Until mid-October of last year, the results on the iPad were similar to those on the MacMini.
    For example:
    On October 4 : iPad - 10.27 Mbps; Mini - 11.25 Mbps
    On July 21   : iPad - 10.13 Mbps; Mini - 11.39 Mbps
However, beginning with tests done in late October, the results for the iPad are markedly inferior to those of the Mini:
    On January 17: iPad - 00.49 Mbps; Mini - 06.14 Mbps
    Today        : iPad - 00.87 Mbps; Mini - 08.69 Mbps
Oddly, when I switch the iPad to the 2.4GHz network, it does much better: 2.40 Mbps (today) But, still, much worse than before October and much worse than the Mac Mini. All the iPhones in the house are on the 2.4GHz network and get results similar to the iPad. However, none of them have as much test history saved.
I don't think it's a question of interference. None of my neighbors have 5GHz capable routers. On 2.4 GHz, I'm using channel 1. Both of my neighbors with routers are on channel 6. No cordless phones or other cordless devices in this house.
I have recently reset the network settings on both the iPad and iPhone.
So, what did I do to mess up the WiFi on my Airport Extreme?

    Thanks.
    Model is A1408.
I set the 2.4GHz network to channel 8.
I had to leave the 5GHz network to "Automatic" because choosing 36, 40 or 44 prevented both of my Airport Expresses from connecting. They would only connect with "Automatic".
All the names are alphanumeric and short: mgn, mgn5ghz, AirEx, etc.
I disconnected my MacMini's ethernet cable and just used WiFi. As expected, bandwidth decreased from the normal 10Mbps to about 2.8 Mbps.
I did not do a factory reset as family is about to come home and I don't want to be fiddling when they're expecting working WiFi. I'll do it tomorrow.

  • Extremely poor connection speed plus the line keep...

    Hi
I moved into a new build flat in Jan 2013, and had an outsourced engineer activating my phone line early Feb. When I first signed up to the service, the estimated connection speed was advertised to be 3-7 Mbps.
It's been about 12 months since the line was activated, and I've been suffering from 2 main problems which were never resolved:
    1) Line dropping - the middle "Broadband" light of my BT homehub turns from blue to flashing yellow once every few hours every day. On a very bad day, it happens every 20-30 mins. I need to work from home sometimes and to connect to my company's VPN. The frequent disconnection of broadband has caused a huge amount of trouble in the last 12 months!
    2) Very slow broadband speed - the estimated connection speed has always been advertised to be 3-7 Mbps. In fact, in the first 2-3 months after the line was activated, the average speed was 3-4 Mbps, but since last April the speed has remained around 1-1.5 Mbps, or 2 Mbps on a good day.
The speed seems to fluctuate a lot as well - I can tell from loading a YouTube video. Basically at all times it is impossible to load a 720p video properly. Turned it down to lower bit rates, it loads for a few seconds then stops loading at all. About a few seconds later, it continues to load again... so on and so forth.
I used to be able to use LoveFilm/BBC iPlayer streamed to my TV in the first couple of months, but now there is no chance of doing it at all.
With the combination of the 2 issues, I have complained to BT so many times but every time I was told that my connection speed was good, even though it is far less than the speed range I was advised when I first signed up. It has been extremely frustrating that it's almost the end of my contract but I still cannot get a stable broadband connection nor a reasonable speed that will load a YouTube video smoothly!
Below is the stats I've got from a speed test and from the HomeHub. Tonight seems to be a less busy night, so I will post the stats from another time when the issues are really bad.
The problem has been bothering me since I moved into this flat and I'm getting really desperate so any help is much appreciated!
    Many thanks,
    Will

if you cannot access the master socket and hence the test socket you cannot eliminate line noise caused by the internal wiring and if engineer finds internal wiring the problem then you will get charged £130 for call out
removing the bellwire is easy but really need to be the master as well - still all extensions will be a start  bellwire removal

  • Extremely poor WiFi performance...

I got my touch (8gb) yesterday, and i've noticed my wifi performance is terrible. At home, on my wireless AP (802.11g), pinging the touch i notice at least 10% packet loss, and latency all over the place. At work on our 802.11b AP I see about 60% loss. I've tried every channel on both AP's to rule out interference.
If i let it go to sleep, when waking back up it's responsive for about 10 - 15 seconds, then takes a dive.
    Example:

Browsing works during the brief period where it responds to ICMP, then it's nearly impossible to browse. It's not near as bad on my home connection though.
Any ideas other than replacing? I'm going to cruise around and try to find some open AP's to test on later today just to be sure it is defective hardware and not compatibility issues with the APs.

  • Poor WiFi performance of Yoga 2 11?

I have just purchased a Yoga 2 11 and find that connectivity is poor (zero to two bars) and unreliable (occasionally reverting to a yellow exclamation point)  in my favorite thinking chair. I get reasonable performance at the same location from other machines including a T420, a Nexus 7, and an IPad. After reviewing some community forum fixes for the presumably Yoga 2 Pro, I have checked to ensure that I have the most recent driver; that I have turned off bluetooth; that I am not using protected sharing; that windows is not managing the wifi Plus I have installed on the order of 33 windows updates (a pretty large number considering this is right out of the box on the first day of availability!). Am I missing anything or is this a problem related to something unfixable like the antenna design? Other potentially connected diagnostic information is that some sites e.g. zillo do not load quickly behave very smoothly, even in locations with more than one "bar" of wifi connectivity. Thank in advance for any input.

I see the same poor wifi connection when comparing to my old laptop and to my Galaxy S4.  I updated the driver but it did not help (think it was the same one).  I have a week left for no hassle returns and if this cannot get resolved I think this unit has to go back.

  • Yoga Tablet 10 HD+ Poor WiFi Signal Strengh

I recently bought a Yoga Tablet 10 HD+. I love the product but it has very poor WIFI reception strength throughout my house. I have 2 other name brand tablets that have no issues with WIFI signal in my house at all. Is there a fix for this or updated software? It is really annoying and might be the reason that I return this tablet. Thank you.

Having low speeds since having fibre. Rang technical a few weeks ago who said to change channel and put something else to 54g performance. This has made no change. Seen on forums about poor wifi on router so did wifi speed test and got 12.16 Mbps. Did wired speed test and got 37.94 Mbps. Router stats           Down.                          Upconn speed.               40000 kbps.           9999 kbpsline att.                      12.2 db.                        0.0dB noise marg.              22.4 dB.                       22.22 dB can anyone help with what to do next

Hi  It isn't a hard task piggybacking a wifi router onto he Sky Hub. All that is required is picking the right wifi router for the task within your budget. Personally I recommend Apple AirPort Extremes because they are very reliable and easy to setup, they almost set themselves up automagically. The internet provider you pick is completely up to you, but be advised that I've seen those on Virgin Media with their wifi router have reliability issues, and they have also needed to piggyback a wifi router on to Virgin Media's offering. Realistically how can one expect ISPs to offer top notch wifi routers when they are attempting to offer a good broadband service only, they clearly aren't specialises in offering wifi products because of the cost associated with manufacturing such offerings.

  • Mac Mini 2012 Poor Wifi

    Hi All,
I've had my 2012 Mac Mini (the basis of my home music recording setup) about 9-10 months and always had poor wifi connection. Download speeds are terrible and it can take hours to download a few MBs
My provider is Sky Fibre Broadband with the Sky Hub. It's all less than 12 months old. It doesn't seem to have the 5ghz option that's been mentioned.
Another point to note is that the signal isn't trying to penetrate several thick walls, the Sky hub is in the next room less than 10 metres away with a direct line of sight through 2 doorways.
I've been through everything in this thread Intermittent and slow Wi-Fi connection on Mac Mini Solved! to no avail. I've tried turning off monitors, speakers, hard drives, bluetooth (even though I need to use this to connect my iPad for studio use). It's completely unusable. I even have the sky booster for the wifi sat  next to the Mac and it makes no difference. My Mac Mini is updated to latest OS X Mavericks which took a very long time to download!
The only thing left for me to try is running a long ethernet cable from the sky hub to see how it is wired. This I am going to do today when I'be been to buy a cable as it's not convenient and unworkable to strip down my home studio to move it to another room.
Yesterday I spent a long time on the phone to apple support and they seem to think there's a problem with my home network and interferance. We went through all sorts, deleting startups items, caches and so on
Although every other device in my home works absolutely fine. These include Windows 8 laptop, Google Nexus, LG G2 Android Phone, iPhone 4s, 2x iPod 4th Gen, Xbox 360, PS3, LG Smart TV, iPad Air. Note these aren't all on at the same time!
It did connect using the iPhone 4s as a hotspot to test which is why Apple insist there is no problem with the hardware, although the WiFi doesn't pick up any other local networks available for example my neighbours of which there are around 8 I can see on other devices.
    Any thoughts?
Out of interest does anyone think getting an Apple Airport Express, connecting it to the Sky Hub but connecting my Mac to Airport rather than the Sky Hub directly would work? In effect creating an isolated connection from the other devices in the house? Maybe they will take to each other in a nicer way. I'm a bit confused by what I can do with the Airport and want to afford splashing out on different routers etc. Trying to get them to work on Sky I can just feel the headache!
Thanks in advance, hope the above is enough info

If you ALT+Click on the Mini WiFi icon in the menu bar, you should see a 'Open Wireless diagnostics'. If you click on it and press command+2, it will bring up a utilities window.
There are two functions that you should consider. Wi-Fi Scan and Performance. There is also Logging, Frame Capture and Info. You can look at these and analyze what may be issues with your Mini.

  • Is there a fix for slow wifi speed on U310?

I bought early july a IdeaPad U310 in Texas, and then I moved to Belgium to study. The wifi speed was awefullt slow. So having read the forums, i rang the support in Belgium, and after long discussion, i sent the laptop for repair. Service was fine, but extremely slow, with no information what so ever of where the pc was, if it was received for reparation... anyway, three weeks after, so that today. i received it back and, according to the intervention report, the wireless controler was replaced. The thing is, the problem ofthe U310 is not a defectuous part, it is something more fundamental. I tested the PC in various speed test website.
I have three laptop, a Lenovo W520, a HP Mini 110, and the IdeaPad U310.
    I used speedtest.net and brosdbandspeedchecker.co.uk
    the result are
Lenovo W520: Download: 19.64 Mbps Upload: 1.99 Mbps
HP Mini 110: Download:15.72 Mbps Upload: 1.28 Mbps
    IdeaPad U310: Download 4.75 Mbps Upload:2.1 Mbps.
Now, the speed on U310 is not that catastrophic (not like the 0.3 Mbps I was getting) but still not great and rather much slower than the two other machines, and not fast enough to watch a movie in streaming, it pauses all the time.
So what should i do? Send it again?
But is there a fix to the problem? Because keeping changing the wifi controller as they did did not fix the PC. The MEDION Repair center, which is in charge to repair Lenovo for northern europe (i guess) stated as well that the test "#winstress#" as been done. What is it? Yes the wifi works, but way too slow.
    Thanks for advice.

Called up Lenovo Support and the tech logged into my laptop and showed me how to increase the wireless power settings.  Changed it from low to high.  Now downloading at 36Mbps to 45Mbps.
Right click on Intel Centrino Wirless-N 2200 click on properties
    click advanced
click on Transit Power and changed the value to 5. Highest
Roaming Aggressiveness change value to Highest
Now downloading at 36Mbps to 45Mbps. FIXED
this has already been shown to have no effect.
In fact changing the pwoer setting on the N-2200 doesn'tt change the amount of power it gets.
