Yoga 13 - Trying to connect to WiFi crashes explorer

Hello,
I have a Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13 that I purchased in May 2013. Since I have owned it I have had some sporadic WiFi issues. I understand that WiFi issues for this model are common, but I have not found any examples of my specific issue.
When I try to use my Yoga to connect to a WiFi network that it has not connected to before, this often happens:
The connection process takes longer than usual
The wireless adapter, Realtek RTL8723A Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 Network Adapter, apparently turns off.
Explorer.exe crashes.
Explorer.exe restarts and the wireless adapter is active again, but I'm not connected to the network.
If I actually open up the list of network connections and try this while that folder is open then explorer.exe does not crash but the rest of the process still occurs. Connecting takes a while, the adapter apparently turns off and turns back on, and I can't connect.
The problem seems more common when my laptop is plugged into an AC outlet, but I am not sure if that is relevant or not.
I've delayed a while because I was hoping an update to Windows 8.1 might help this. However, after trying multiple times I have been unable to do that either. I get that "black screen bug" after the update, and getting a recovery drive from a friend with Windows 8.1 didn't help.
I've tried to update all the files I can find, but that hasn't helped this WiFi problem either. Does this problem seem familiar? Do you know what I can do to fix it? I've tried all the updates I can, including the June 2013 driver update. Nothing has helped.

Connect from desktop mode and not the start screen, this will bring up the desktop version of IE and not the modern screen version. This usually works for me.

  • IPad displaying an Hotspot Error message when trying to connect to wifi. How do I fix?

When attempting to connect to the public wifi network at work on my iPad, I started getting the following error message today: "Error Opening Page - Hotspot login cannot open the page because the network connection was lost."  In order to utilize the network, you must read and accept a user agreement, which will not load and instead displays the error.  I have already tried turning of the wifi and turning it back on and rebooting the device.  This has never been a problem before, and I have had my iPad for several months now.  Further, my iPhone is connecting to the same network with no problem.  How do I correct this problem??  Thank you so much for any help provided!

If you're unable to join a nearby Wi-Fi network
Try restarting your Wi-Fi router by turning it off and then on again.
Note: If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
When joining an 802.11n Wi-Fi network, ensure that your router is properly configured. See this article for more information.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings, including passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
    Hope this helps,

  • Ipad tries to connect to wifi but won't .....

My husband was watching Netflix on our ipad and it suddenly a message came up "you have no internet connection". We have a router in our home (but no wireless plan) so we can only use our iapd where the is wifi. We tried resetting the router but husbands laptop works fine with wifi. When the ipad tries to connect and I watch the screen and it either will not recognize the router password or next to the WiFi will say "TRENDnet"(our router), then "Not Connected", "TRENDnet", "Not Connected", like it tries to connect and does for a second and then doesn't.  I suspect it is not the router because husband's laptop works fine.  Any help appreciated. Ipad is a version 1, regifted from Mom when she bought her new Mini. Thank You!

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Trying to connect to wifi network hosted on PC

I'm trying to connect my Mac to the internet through the PC (since the Mac cannot detect the network the PC is connected to). I set up a wifi hotspot through Connectify, and sure enough it shows up in my Mac. Unfortunately, I get this window shown here: http://yfrog.com/jkmywifip.
Huh? This isn't a Mac I'm setting up the wifi on; how can I even use Airport utility? Why won't the iMac ask me for the password to the wifi connection, and why does it give me a PIN instead?
Please help; I really want to be able to access the internet on my Mac too instead of just on my PC.

Okay, so I've entered in my password with System Preferences instead. Now I get a sudden spike or two in trying to connect with my laptop PC (http://img836.imageshack.us/i/screenshot20100719at746.png/) before things turn into a plateau again. As this screenshot shows (http://img829.imageshack.us/i/screenshot20100719at746.png/), I seem to be connected but without any internet connection.
But Connectify on my laptop does think my Mac is connected/connecting (http://img839.imageshack.us/i/connect.png/), and internet sharing is turned on.
What else should I do? It seems my Mac is connected to the PC, but it still cannot access the internet.

  • Playbook spins forever trying to connect to WiFI

I have a BlackBerry Playbook that as recently as yesterday afternoon was able to connect to WiFi.  Today, however, it just spins forever in the "Finding Available Networks" mode.  I tried "Connect Manually", and then it just spun forever in the "Attempt 1 of 3" mode.
I'm running 2.0.0.3778.  I've turned developer mode off, and I've rebooted, but to no avail.  Other devices in the room report strong connections to several WiFi networks, some of which are open.
How should I proceed?  Does anybody want to see the logs? (How do I get them?)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

First I would like you to do a Back Up of your PlayBook using your computer and BlackBerry Desktop Software.
This can be downloaded for free from http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
After the Back Up is complete I need you to unplug your PlayBook and then push and hold down the Power Button until the unit Force Powers Off.
Now, while Desktop Software is still open on your computer and the PlayBook Powered Off, Connect the PlayBook to your computer.
You should see and error screen from Desktop Software pop up that has the options to Retry, Update, or Cancel.
    QUICKLY choose the Update option.
This will erase all the information off of your PlayBook and Re-Write the Software back onto it. Once it's complete your PlayBook will need to go back through the setup wizard, and you can then perform a restore using Desktop Software to return your information. The only thing that won't come back after the restore are the apps that you downloaded from App World but they can be easily Re-Installed using the My World feature in App World.

  • I just subscribed to ITunes Match. I'm trying to connect my wife's phone. She has a different Apple ID. How can I connect her?

I just subscribed to ITunes Match. I was able to connect my phone and Ipad but I cant't connect my wife's phone. She has a different Apple ID.

The iCloud and iTunes Store account ID are not the same thing. They can be different although some folks, like myself, do have the same Apple ID for all the Apple services. Go to Settings > Store and enter the exact same iTunes Store account ID you used to purchase iTunes Match. Be aware you can only switch Apple IDs on an iOS device every 90 days.

  • Ever since I downloaded ios7, my iPhone 4s keeps freezing when trying to connect to wifi. Help?

My iPhone 4s keeps freezing whenever I try to connect to wifi. It either won't even open wifi, and when it does, it'll freeze as soon as wifi is open. I can force quit the settings area, and it unfreezes the iPhone, but it doesn't fix the settings area, which is still frozen. I have come to points when I can connect to wifi, but it only lasts about 30 seconds before dropping the connection. This happens everywhere, even at home, when I'm right next to the router. What should I do?

Try resetting your settings. Settings > General > Reset.
I had this happen shortly after updating and it worked when I reset.
    Doesn't delete anything though.

  • 'Alert: No Internet Connection' Error when trying to connect to Wifi networks

    Hi,
I have a 13' MBP late 2012, reccently I've been unable to connect to any secured Wifi network after updating to the OSX 10.9.2,
    I've tried everything-
    - Restarting
    - Resetting the PRAM
    - an SMC reset
    - Restarting in Safe Mode
    - Repairing Hard Drive & Permissions in Disk Utility
    - And even reinstalling: Maverick OSX 10.9.2 (Combo) Update
    - I've even compared my laptops settings with my Sister's laptop who has also downloaded the update but does not have the same problem, they are all the same as far as I can see.
The problem is prevelant in every Wifi network I try to connect to, the only reason I am able to connect to the internet at all right now is that I've disabled the WEP key setting for my router.
It just keeps repeating the 'Alert: No Internet Connection' or a 'Connection Timeout' warning...
Any help would be greatly appriciated!
    Thanks

I have tested your xsd file in versions 10.0.5.1279 and in CR XI - no errors.

  • "password incorrect" when trying to connect to wifi

I can successfully connect to my WPA2 encoded wifi connection from many different devices in the household. One of the iPhone4s' cannot connect though, after entering password, it very quickly comes back with an alert "Password incorrect for [endpoint name]". It can happily connect to any other wifi network. An other iPhone4s can succesfully connect. I have tried most of the voodoo tricks listed here (entering wi-fi password with quotes, resetting phone network settings, restarting router), to no avail. Which device should I be returning?

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
    Any error messages?

  • Yoga 13 wont connect to wifi

I have been slushing through forums and websites to find some kind of fix for this.  Most of the things I find are people having trouble with the wifi dropping out, or just not being strong enough.  My problem is getting it to connect.  It can take the machine up to an hour to actually connect to the internet though it sees it from the beginning.
Ive tried downloading the new driver.  Is there anything else I can try?  Ive talked to support 3 times, they havent been able to help me out, Im not even so sure they understand whats going on.  They seem to want me to return it to them instead of offering a fix.  Did they knowingly sell me a machine that does not work?  Thats what Im starting to get from all the feedback I get from lenovo.
I LOVE this machine.  It does what I need it to, and returning it will be crushing, but its to expensive to not be working correctly.
    Thanks for any help!

    hi ruperto3747,
Do you use a Cisco router? If so, check this KB article from microsoft.
    Otherwise, try to:
    1. Disable WPS and WMM (QoS) on your router.
    2. Use WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK TKIP/AES Mixed mode or Auto.
If you get connected but with a Limited or No connectivity status, check this fix.
    Hope this helps.

  • "Apple page not found" error after installing iOS 6 and trying to connect to wifi on iPad 2, how do I fix this?

SO I just installed the new iOS6, and the wifi is working (posting on my iPad 2 right now). However it won't let me use safari, and every time I select my wifi network, it shows the full strength signal. But before I can do anything it loads a page in an attempt to connect to apple.com, that says "apple page not found." I can then navigate the apple website, but there is no address bar. I try using safari and it says I am not connected to a wireless network. I know this is a problem with iOS 6, so has anyone heard how to fix this? Or is anyone having this problem as well?

Reading some older threads from 2012 and 2011 it appears the problem was present even then.  Part of the problem was due to people using multiple or different account id's on the various devices.  In my case, I only have one ID and it is the same on all devices yet the iPhone and iPad are still throwing the same error when I try turning on iTunes Match.  This is very frustrating . . . any help out there?  Thanks.
