Yoga 13 Windows 7 screen brightness

I'm so uncomfortable with Win 8, and after using if for half a year, I finally downgrade it to windows 7 on my Yoga 13.  It works fine except I cannot adjust the brightness of my screen.  It is too bright for my eyes now.  What drivers should I install to adjust the brightness?

just go to nvidia control panel and then go adjust desktop colour setting.
set the brighness to the lowest.

  • T440s Windows 8 Screen Brightness

I've spent a few days trying to get round this issue but to no avail.
I reverted back to the factory reset which restored Windows 8 back to its initial state.  In doing so the graphics adaptors lost their drivers and a few other devices were also missing drivers, namely the built in NIC and Chipset drivers.   I found this strange as i would have expected the factory reset to restore back to Lenovo's "factory shipped" given that all the Lenovo apps remain installed.
Both graphics adaptors were using the Windows Basic Graphics adaptor upon boot up.   Trying to use the hot keys to adjust the brightness was not working and it seemed like the display was on 100% brightness (even without the power plugged in).  On screen you could see the brightness indicator changing but no difference in the actual contrast..  FYI there is a built in Intel HD adaptor and Nvidea adaptor for external monitor use.
If i remove the Intel installed driver and revert back to Windows Basic i can use the toggle keys (F5/F6)  albeit the contrast doesnt actually change but the indicators do appear.  If reinstall the Intel driver i lose the toggle keys and still the brightness remains on 100%.
I've used the latest drivers from Lenovo's site and even resorted to using the latest driver from the Intel website.  All without success.
Has anybody else expereinced this problem.   I appreciate the non-dockable version of the T440s come with two GPU but this should not cause any issues given this was working when first taken out of the box?

    Hi Apatel4000,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
I’m sorry to hear that you are facing the issue with Brightness on ThinkPad T440s.
The newest Intel HD driver (from Intel) is causing this issue. Uninstall it and reinstall the driver provided from Lenovo.
And also please install Power Management, Power Manager Application and Hotkey Features Integration.
Below is the link to enter the downloads page and download latest application accordingly, please click on "Select Product" then in "QUICK PATH" enter the MTM no. select the exact model.

    Hope this helps!

  • Windows 10 Screen Brightness! HELP!

I would also confirm - although you might have the drivers installed and up to date, that they are actually Windows 10 certified, just because they work, does not mean they are certified or indeed 100% working in Windows 10 - it only came out 2 days ago remember. You may need to download and install specific drivers for your GPU and modules, light sensors and base drivers - which may or may not be windows 10 compliant yet, or ever.

As I move from window to window, or even just scrolling through a web page, my screen is dimming ever-so-slightly. I can't even notice it dim, but then suddenly, it will jump back to full brightness. This is giving me a major headache and I can not find a setting to fix this.At first, I thought this was an illusion, but it is not. Check it out at 6-7 seconds, the screen gets brighter! Sorry for the poor video. I'm just glad it's visible on video at all.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2RYBvjn_zUI checked my power settings, I'm set to full brightness and adaptive brightness is turned off. To the best of my knowledge, this is not a hardware issue. My laptop is 2.5 years old and has never done this on Windows 8/8.1.It's about to cause a seizure, and I need help figuring this out before it does.
    Thanks!

  • Windows 8 Pro Upgrade Problems (Switchable Graphics, Screen Brightness Adjustment, etc.)

Hi guys! I hope you can help me with this.
My laptop is a Lenovo U400 bought last April. I upgraded it yesterday to Windows 8 Pro.
The Upgrade Assistant detected incompatibilities on the following softwares (I'll be mentioning only those I had problems with after the update.)
    -AMD Catalyst Install Manager
    -Catalyst Control Center
    -Lenovo Energy Management
    -Cypress Trackpad
After the update, the following problems occurred
-Windows kept prompting me about the incompatibility of Catalyst Control Center and Lenovo Energy Management
-When I check the Device Manager -->Display Adapters, My AMD Radeon HD 6470M was changed to HD 7400M and has an exclamation point on it indicating a problem. When check Properties it says, "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
-I can't manage switchable graphics because the AMD Radeon driver has been stopped by the OS and Catalyst Control Center doesn't work. It says, "Catalyst Control Center cannot be started. There are currently no settings that can be configured using Catalyst Control Center."
-My touchpad works but does not support multitouch functions.
-Screen brightness adjustment stopped working both on hotkeys and Power Options.
I tried the following actions to fix the problems:
-Downloaded the new softwares from Lenovo Support but the Catalyst Control Center and Cypress Trackpad still doesn't work. I also tried installing driver software from the AMD site but it still didn't work. [FAILED]
-I tried to use the Cypress Trackpad software for U300s/e and it fixed the problem with the touchpad [FIXED]
-Installed the Energy Management software for Windows 8 but when I click the 'Optimized Battery Health' button, it keeps reverting back to 'Maximum Battery Life'. [PARTIALLY FIXED]
-Resorted to 3rd party software to fix the Switchable Graphics (Catalyst 12.11 Beta from leshcatlabs.net) and it fixed the switchable graphics problem as well as the Catalyst Control Center problem. This is temporary until a working solution or update is available. [TEMPORARILY FIXED]
-All actions trying to fix the Screen brightness adjustment didn't work. [FAILED]
Please do help me on this. Thanks in advance!!!

Yes I own U400 too and I'm using it now. To many forums been read, can't remember which one. Basically, u have to clean AMD and Intel drivers that come along with Win 8. Why? Because the Win8 driver database will lead the device ID "DEV_6760" (if you looking at display adapter device properties) to HD 7400 series instead of HD 6470M, again why? At the bigining only the HD 7400 series already "certified" by Microsoft, while the 6470M out of somewhere. Current CCC (or else) + 6470 drivers, contain also driver for 7400 series in same packages (at least until now, hopefully near future they will release an update). So you can gues where the windows will lead to? Yes 7400 series (certified one). This will explain also why the Energy Management didn't work to= "missing identifier" or we can say "hardware not match".
You have to find a "fix" driver which contain only HD 6470M and install it manually trhu "Have Disk" option, after you claan all AMD and Intel driver. If you success, then install the CCC from Lenovo Support and from ATI ( I use 12.11 Beta8 Net4 CCC - this is a must), but remember to unchek the AMD Display driver when you install both CCC, and leave the rest checked including Intel Component. Then you can download install anything you want =).
Leschat's driver did't work on my and "harm" the system. Believe it or not, I found the AMD 6470M standalone driver on HP website. They call it "SoftPack", which actually contain CCC software.
It's quite tricky thing, that's why not everyone willing to try. But I think it's worth to try, as the risk is not too deep, just backup anything befor you do it. Cheer

  • Windows 8.1 kills screen brightness control

I have a touch smart 23 computer that came with windows 8.0. An auto upgrade to 8.1 caused the screen brightness control to stop working and the screen stays on super bright. I could not get a response on how to fix so I had to re-install 8.0 which fixed the problem. I set the system to not upgrade without my approval and yet it did it again last week (about 4 or 5 months later). When I have to reinstall 8.0, I have to re-install several primary programs as there are no restore points left except back to factory settings. Question one is - has there been a fix installed on windows 8.1 that will again let me control the brightness on my screen? If not, question 2 is how did the update override my setting to not allow updates to install without my approval. I have a full day of re-installs that I don't want to have to do a third time.

    Hi:
You probably have to install the W8.1 graphics driver for your specific model.
Normally when you can't control the screen brightness, that means the graphics driver isn't installed.
As for your second question, that I do not know.

  • My screen brightness control buttons don't work windows 8

    Hope someone can help

Hello smarisig. I understand you are not able to control screen brightness from the keyboard on Windows 8. By chance, did you upgrade to Windows 8 from Windows 7? I have located an online forum that contains troubleshooting on this issue: http://thedailybuggle.com/forum/unable-control-screen-brightness-windows-8-a-200.html
The person who posted the issue on this forum had upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8, and then this issue occurred. That is the reason I asked if this Windows 8 was upgraded. Regardless, follow the troubleshooting presented and it could resolve the issue for you. If not, let me know and I will continue to research the issue in the meantime. I'm only here to help!

  • How adjust screen brightness in Windows 7?

I used to use a Windows 98 laptop up to 3+ years ago, but since moving to Mac have largely forgotten how Windows works. I now have Windows 7 on Bootcamp and can't see how to adjust screen brightness. Surely there should be an adjuster on the System Tray (that's what it used to be called) bottom right next to the clock. I'm on 20" iMac with Apple keyboard (the long one with number pad at the right).

Does the keyboard have brightness controls on the F keys?
If these do not work: try holding fn and using the F keys.
If that does now work I have to ask: have you installed the bootcamp software? you need to make a CD (or usb stick) of drivers and software from OSX then boot into wiondows and run it.

  • Have Upgrade Graphic Card Driver, But Still Cannot Adjust Screen Brightness and Sleep Button Not Showing After Clean Installation of Windows 8.1

I have done clean installation of Windows 8.1 on my HP Pavilion G4.
Then I realize that I cannot put my computer on sleep mode and cannot adjust screen brightness.
I understand that those problems caused by the graphic card driver.
My computer is running on AMD Radeon HD 6400 series.
Thus, I manually search on internet and found a latest graphic card update on microsoft site that is claimed compatible on windows 8.1 (link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/dn344644.aspx).
I've upgraded it into the latest one. I've check on Device Manager, the driver is running well.
But my problem did not solved!
    Please give me the solution!

    Hi,
How about go to Device Manager, then uninstall Graphic driver and restart your computer, system will install its build in graphic drver. You can have a try.
In addition, access to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Brightness and set its value to 100 for test.

  • Cannot adjust screen brightness in Windows 8.1 on my G50-45

    Hello there,
I just bought my new lenovo and instantly upgrade the system software into Windows 8.1.
Everthing looks fine instead of the screen brightness adjustment, i've downloaded the latest graphic drivers but nothing happened.
The display adaptor section into device manager keeps showing up that the driver is Microsoft Basic Display Adaptor rather than AMD radeon R2.
    Thanks in advance guys.

hi kostas-mi , ecountered that issue a month ago and was able to resolved it
    things you can try:
1- you can roll back the driver back to its stock state, if this doesnt work ,
2- install latest driver of your graphic card
3- This step will fix the problem:
    - go to registery by regedit and change the value to 0xf048
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0000]
    "FeatureTestControl"=dword:0000f048
     OR
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0001]
    "FeatureTestControl"=dword:0000f048

  • Using Windows 7 Display Won't Adjust Screen Brightness

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 running on my MacBook Pro from January, 2012. My screen will not adjdust brightness. Not using the F1 & F2 hotkeys (The window will pop up showing I'm pressing up and down on the screen brightness but nothing changes) even going in to Windows 7 control panel will not change this. I can't change the brightness or turn off the display with the hotkeys or in Windows 7 settings. I have BootCamp installed. Any body have the same problem or know how to fix it. I've tried updating my graphics drivers but I don't think it worked.

Take it to the Genius Bar. Your SIM might have an issue. The SIM is the part that manages power. My brother's Macbook Air has this issue. What haapens is the SIM malfunctions and gets confused on how much power to send to each part. Other symptoms include fan always running (even when its been off for a while), and you can't adjust the screen or keyboard brightness.
