Yoga 2 13 Tablet Screen turns off when in Tablet Mode

I just bought my Yoga 2 13, when I flip it to Tablet mode, the screen turns off. Apparently it goes to sleep. When I open it it turns on again. Do I need to do any adjustments? or is this a defect?

Try updating your drivers first: http://mobilesupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-2-13-notebook-l...
If that does not help, try a factory reset:
1. Turn off your Yoga 2 13
2. Press the tiny button next to the power button on the right
3. Follow instructions to perform a factory reset
If none of the above attempts have helped you, it is probably a hardware issue.

  • Screen turns off when making a call, wont go back on until I end call.

How do I get the screen to turn back on when I am making a call? I dont know how this happened. I didnt drop my phone or anything and now when making a call the screen turns off. I tapped the screeen and tilted the phone and it still didnt turn on. I am unable to put call on speakerphone or select any other options. HELP!

The screen turns off during a call.  The light sensor senses that your face is near and turns it off to conserve battery life.  If you have to access the screen for a function i.e. to enter an extension number, the sensor once again senses the difference in light and turns the screen back on.
That much you probably already knew; that was mostly for the benefit of others reading this thread.  If your screen is not turning back on, it's a software issue.  The quickest and most effective cure for software issues is the good ol' battery pull.  With your phone powered on, remove the battery then replace it a few seconds later.
That should help.  Please post back with your results.
    - If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

  • My MacBook Pro screen turns off when I open the lid!

This has been driving me nuts, and also apparently Apple as well.
When my MacBook Pro is connected to a power adapter, if I close the lid it sleeps like a good little Mac. When I open the lid, the display comes on instantly. Then after about a second, it goes black. The LED backlight turns off. I can get it to come on using either of two ways: 1) touch either of the brightness buttons, or 2) remove and replace the power connector.
Now, here is the weird part: it only seems to do it when I am logged in as me. If I login as guest, it doesn't happen. That would seem to imply it is something about my profile that causes it to happen. So I whacked ~/Library/Preferences and it still happened. So where is this particular bit of nastiness hiding?

OK, so I think I solved my issue.  It was caused by the system not going to sleep (The screensaver thing was a dead end).
When I ran the console app pmset, I got something like this:
    ➜  ~  pmset -g assertions
    12-06-29 9:11:06 AM EDT
    Assertion status system-wide:
       PreventUserIdleDisplaySleep             0
       CPUBoundAssertion                       0
       DisableInflow                           0

       NoRealPowerSources_debug                0
       UserIsActive                            0
       ApplePushServiceTask                    0
The process that was causing PreventSystemSleep to be 1 was "org.cups.cupsd" which is the print service.  So I checked all my printers, one of them was "In Use".  When I opened it, there weren't any jobs listed.  I went through the options and selected Jobs > Show Everyone's Jobs and sure enough there was a job there.  I deleted it and everything seems to work now.
The odd thing is that print job was probably from my other account which didn't seem to have this screen problem.  Anyway, I hope this helps anyone out there....

  • IPhone 3G Screen turns off when lowering from ear during call

I have my 3rd iPhone; bought it yesterday (last one stolen in Denver Airport). The screen works normally when using the functions other than the phone. When making a call everything is normal but when I put the phone to my ear, I have noticed that the screen does not turn off, however, when lowering the phone to look at the screen during the call, it goes completely blank despite the call still being connected. I tried pushing all the buttons to no avail. I did a reset and also a software restore without success. I discovered that when I lowered the phone during a call and the screen goes blank, I put my warm thumb over the little horizontal sensor above the screen and it would come back on. If I released my thumb it would turn off (the exact opposite of what should happen). I called apple, they said to return the phone because there probably is a hardware issue. I bought it at an ATT store in Santa Barbara, CA; I am told there is a restocking fee to replace the phone!! Amazing, buy a new product, its defective, return it for a new one, and they extract $20 additional dollars from you. Anyone else with a similar problem.

If it is not in a case and it is defective the only way that the AT&T store will swap out the phone for a new one without the restocking fee is if it's under 14 days. After the 14 days you have to bring it to an Apple store for repair or a replacement. I recommend purchasing the iCare warranty through apple, because it will extend the warranty to 2 years on the phone, and when your phone breaks the apple store will replace it on the spot if they can't repair it in the store instead of sending it out for repair and you waiting for it.

  • KDE - Keep Screen Turned Off When The Lid Is Closed

    Hello all,
I configured KDE to turn off the screen when I close my lid and this part works OK.
Problem is, once I move the mouse while the lid is closed the screen wakes up (it's not hard to tell, light gets out from the sides).
If I configure the lid action to be sleep, the computer sleeps and wakes up with lid close/open with the mouse not getting in the way.
Any idea on how I can configure it to block mouse input while the lid is closed so the screen stays off?
    Thanks, Adam.

    Doug.
You're a genius!!! It worked. It wasn't the keyboard that was not reset properly, it is the escape (hey, it kind of looks like Escape - with a Ellen degeneres slang ) key. It is on the fritz and does not want to sit properly. I removed it temporarily, and, voila, it works again.
Thanks again for the headache solved. Now on to my 3 and 5 year old girls - a totally different problem. Maybe it is their CPU???

Hi my phone turns off after being in sleep/lock mode after a few minutes. to turn back on i have to hold the home and power buttons for a few seconds.
When the phone is charging it does NOT turn of in sleep mode.
    My Info: iphone 2g..Fw 2.1
I read a few post on here and other forum sites that say it may be a hardware issue or battery issue....If your having this problem please reply to this post to let it be known if there is a hardware problem or just isolated incidents thanks

    Hey SurgeCentral,
Are you using any 3rd-party accessories with the iPhone?
Try syncing and backing up the data on the iPhone, then restore it and set it up as a new phone.

  • Screen turning off when streaming

    Hi
I have an E63 and use SkyFire to stream TV from tvcatchup.com but every minute or so the screen fades away and I have to press the centre nav button to keep the screen going. Not a major problem in most circumstances but when I'm on the treadmill its a real pain in the **bleep**.
Is there any way to stop this?

    Hi chn68b
As you said " it is not a major problem" so the solution: use one of the following
    1) there is alot of programs that keeps the screen lights on as long as you want " adjusted in program settings" , they are in the name of " torch " or " on screen" , try to google it and find the suitable program for your phone model.
    2) go to  Settings --> General --> Personalisation --> Display --> Power saver time-out    and change it to 90 sec
Settings --> General --> Personalisation --> Display --> Light time-out      and change it to 60 sec
N.B: those steps mentioned in 2nd solution are according to my E51. you may find some differences but the general idea is the same.
an advice: streaming and keeping lights on will empty your battery faster and lower the battery life-span , so don't expend much time using streaming to keep the battery the longest time functioning and healty
I hope that helps , and let me know
Phones I bought from 1st till now:

  • Screen turned off when hitting escape from safari

entered safari in full screen mode, hit the esc button to minimize and the screen went to sleep, pressed cmd and the screen came back. Is this normal?

If it happens once or twice, it's normal. If it happens regularly, it's something you should investigate.

  • On my iPhone 4 The notifications for the Message app suddenly turned off when in silent mode. I have. I vibrate on but it does not vibrate when I get a text.

My message app does not notify while on silent mode

You iPhone likely has damage. Just because you don't see an external indicator doesn't mean it didn't get damaged internally.
Take it to an Apple store for evaluation.  If there is physical damage, then unless you have the Apple Care Plus Protection Plan, you're looking at $149 for an Out Of Warranty replacement.

  • Screen turns off while install

    Hi
I tried a lot of things but nothing seems to work
the problem is that when the installation comes to the point that I am loged in as root (at the start ) the screen turns off.
when i write reboot the machine reboots, tried alt+ctrl+f1 or f2 acpi=off and all things that are noted in the cookbok but nothing works
the macine is acer aspire 1350 with   KM400/KN400/P4M800 [S3 UniChrome] graphics
    thanks

I'm not overly familiar with what installing Arch looks like (nowadays). I presume you boot from some medium, Arch boots, then you have a login screen on the first virtual console, you log in as root - and then your screen turns off and you can't turn it on? Do you get some "no signal" message?
I can't think of anything else other than trying a different kernel (latest Arch live medium uses 3.8, it seems; Crunchbang probably uses something older, doesn't it?). Trying a different kernel on a live medium - well, can't do it. You could set up sshd (shouldn't be a problem even without a working screen) and install Arch using that (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Install_from_SSH). Alternatively, you can do https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/In … her_distro . You should also install linux-lts (which contains kernel 3.0) or get a kernel older than 3.8 from ARM (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Do … ckages#ARM).
    -edit-
Or you could try older live media. The one from February should have a 3.7 kernel. http://mirror.brainfork.me/archlinux/iso/

Every time my lg g pad 8.3 lte tablet is turned off it reverts the saving email attachment back to internal storage.  Every time I turn on, I change it back to save to SD card.  It stays that way until it is turned off for more than a minute.  If I do a restart, it holds the setting, but loses it when it is shut down for any period of time.  Does anyone else have this issue?  The setting holds for photos taken with camera storing to SD card.  Only the email attachment setting does not hold.

I believe that system has a hall sensor on it to detect when the lid is closed so it can put the system to sleep and/or disable the monitor so it can be used with an external monitor only. If the sensor is marginal or has a bad cable, it may intermittently cut the monitor on and off, and may likewise put the system to sleep. One way to check would be to plug in an external monitor and if the laptop's screen cuts off or doesn't show up, start using the trackpad and press on a non-typing key like the shift key. If the external display suddenly pops and becomes active while the laptop display remains black, it's probably a problem with the sensor or the cable/connection. You might be able to fool the sensor into kicking on and off by moving a magnet over it. It's located on the left had side of the base with the unit opened up, and right over the audio output plug.
I know of some people that put a small magnet right over the hall sensor's location so the laptop display turns off and they use the system with an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse. If fooling with magnets, make sure they're small and don't get them close to the hard drive because a strong magnet can wipe them out.
I don't know if this will help you much, but it might.

  • Screen turns off immediately when setting systemIdleMode to NORMAL after having been in KEEP_AWAKE

I've found a little issue in Android...
In my application I download some files the first time it's run. Since it takes a couple of minutes without user input, the screen turns off automatically. I've found some tablets not only turn off the screen but also interrupt the download altogether when going to sleep, so to avoid this I'm using this to prevent the screen from turning off (is there any other workaround to prevent downloads being interrupted by sleep?):
    NativeApplication.nativeApplication.systemIdleMode = SystemIdleMode.KEEP_AWAKE;
Of course, I've also added the WAKE_LOCK and DISABLE_KEYWARD permissions to my app descriptor, so the above code works. The problem is that I don't want the app to stay awake all the time, so after the download finishes, I'm setting the screen back to normal with:
    NativeApplication.nativeApplication.systemIdleMode = SystemIdleMode.NORMAL;
But after executing that, the screen goes off immediately, instead of waiting for a minute or so before dimming the screen. It's as if the dimming was triggered already during the download process, but didn't actually happen because of the KEEP_AWAKE setting, and then when switching to NORMAL, the screen dimming takes place immediately so it turns off.
Is this an intended behaviour or should I file a bug?
How can I manage to set the systemIdleMode to NORMAL but still have the screen on waiting a bit before going to sleep? Turning off the screen as soon as the download is finished is confusing for the user, who might think the app has frozen when it's really just in sleep mode (and the user has to unlock the screen before going back to the app).
This happens in just about any version of AIR 3.x (and probably below).
Also, it happens in iOS as well, but it's less dramatic because the screen just dims a little (app is still visible) when setting systemIdleMode to NORMAL, instead of turning off completely and locking the screen, which is the behaviour in Android.

My 6th generation iPod nano automatically turns off (=stops the music) when I push het sleep/wake button or when screen turns black for power saving mode. Does anyone know how to solve this ?
I have already tried resetting, connecting to PC/iTunes to check the software version, turning off/on, I don't have any inspiration anymore.
    Thanks for your suggestions!

    Hi VeerleD,
If your iPod touch unexpectedly powers off, you may want to use the steps in this article to troubleshoot -
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting (The steps apply for the iPod touch) -
    Specifically -
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
