Yoga 2 Pro Camera Pixelated? - Windows 8.1

Hey Everyone,
I just received my Yoga 2 last week, and I opened up the camera app and the image was very pixilated.  Has anyone else experienced this?  I am not picky about my webcam quality, but I would expect it to look similar to my camera phone in quality...
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

Hate to break it to ya, but the Yoga 2 Pro just has a crappy camera. Manufacturers always look for ways to cut corners and the webcam is a common victim.
It has a crappy generic 720p camera (less than 1 megapixel). You've been spoiled by Apple. By contrast, the iPhone 5s has an 8 megapixel camera with a good sensor, a fast aperture, and a good lens. It's usually considered the best mobile camera out there (most Android phones have pretty bad cameras too). The Yoga's camera is nowhere in the same league... not even remotely close.

  • Yoga Pro 2 Can't Connect to Windows Store

I have a 3 day old Yoga Pro 2 with Windows 8.1. I love it... But it won't connect to the Windows Store (just says there's no internet connection). I Googled this and found lots of advice on the Microsoft Forum as many people have had issues connecting to the store. ... Check anti virus, clear store cache, run a trouble shooter, check user settings etc none of which have worked. I put a post on the Microsoft Forum and but because it's a new machine users there say it's a Lenovo problem?
Please help because there's no point in the Start page without apps and I may as well swop it for an Apple.

    Hi,
Firstly, try to use WSRESET command to clear Store cache for test.
In addition, Use APP trouble shooter to fix it.

  • [FIX] Yoga 13 Windows 8.1 Touchpad and Pixelated Windows.

Hello everybody! This would be my first post in this forum.
I thought that I had to share this since I wasn't able to find a fix for the Touchpad. And since I was also able to solve the pixelated windows issue, I thought I might want to share it.
    [ISSUES]
    1. Touchpad multi gestures not working and slow move speed.
The first thing that I realised after booting up my Yoga after the Windows 8.1 update was that the cursor was moving rather slow. I tried meddling with the pointer speed in the mouse options under Control Panel and it didn't seem to work.
Started Googling and was figured that by installing the Synaptics Drivers, it would solve the problem. Unfortunately, nothing changed. Since I know that it is driver related, I got to work and remembered some simple steps to update hardware drivers. Let's get started!
    Steps:
    1. Go to Control Panel.
    2. Go to Device Manager. You should see a long list of hardware that your system is supporting.
    3. Find "Mice and other pointing devices". Click the arrow to expand the drop down list.
    4. You should see "PS/2 Mouse" or something like that. (I have already updated it and it no longer displays that name)
    5. Right click the "PS/2 Mouse" and click "Update Driver Software".
Make sure you are connected to the internet and let it install the drivers. The cursor speed and touchpad multi gestures will go back to normal!!
    2. Pixelated Windows.
This would be the second thing that I noticed when I opened my Chrome browser. The words were very pixelated. Initially, I suspected the screen resolution, but it wasn't the case. However, I was close. After some Googling, it had to do with the Display.
    Steps:
    1. Right click on your Desktop.
    2. Click "Screen Resolution". You should see the options to Change your display.
    3. There should be 3 options that are highlighted in BLUE. Select "Make text and other items larger or smaller".
    4. Under "Change the size of all items", select "Smaller - 100%".
    5. Check "Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays"
    6. Apply
And that should solve both issues. So far, I have only encountered these two issues. If I were to find out more, I would certainly add them to this thread.
    Cheers everyone!

  • Yoga Pro 2 - Display not recognized in windows (Driver or Hardware issue?)

Out of warranty by a month!
Yoga Pro 2 - 256gb, installed new wireless card a month ago. Windows 8.1
The touchscreen still works while the screen is black.
System restarted after sleep mode I think.
The Lenovo logo is displayed, seems to load windows, but when windows loads (I don't see it load so this is an assumption) the screen blanks and the black light is on.
I can connect an external monintor which will connect after a return from sleep mode(odd). Which then turns the backlight off.
When on the external monitor the internal display is not even recognized by windows.
When I boot in safe mode, the internal screen works fine with of course limited capability.
I have reloaded display drivers from the support site.
Right now my internal monitor is not recognized by windows and is dark, and I can use an external monitor.
Anyone have any clues as to what my be going on? Hardware, driver etc???
    What information can I provide?
    Solved!

This is a pretty weird issue with conflicting observations.
    1) Screen works in Safe Mode but not in regular boot. (So, not hardware issue)
    2) Display works on external monitor in regular mode. (So, not drivers issue)
Did you install the wireless card yourself? Did you unplug the display cable while installing the card?
Could you re-open and check that all connections are good?
Is the Wi-Fi card working well?
I would also recommend a complete reset of the laptop to eliminate the possibility that this is a corrupt driver. You can use the NOVO button to reset your laptop. Make sure to make a backup on external drive for your personal files.

  • Windows sensor button on monitor stopped working - Yoga Pro 2

I have had my Yoga Pro 2 all of 3 days, and today the sensor button located on the monitor that brings you to the windows start screen has stopped working. When I purchased the laptop, the sensor worked fine - it vibrated when touched and brought me to the start screen. Now, nothing happens. I have installed the 2 updates I was prompted to install, could this be the issue? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

  • Yoga 2 Pro HDMI and Windows 10

After more than a week of nearly incessent pestering I have allowed my laptop to take the Windows 10 "upgrade".  This has caused my external monitor to stop working (Dell S2240T).  Symptoms:- Nothing happens on the computer or monitor when Micro HDMI is connected to Laptop- When I press F10 it says "Your PC can't project to another screen."- When I go in to display settings it is only showing the native laptop screen and not the external monitor, clicking detect says that no other monitor is connected- Nothing is showing any issues in Device Manager While Dell has indicated that there is no Windows 10 support planned for this monitor, I have located posts relating to successful use of this monitor in conjunction with Windows 10.  Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this?

There are few posts and some google search results you can find that have solutions. See this one:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/solved-Middle-click-Yoga-Pro-2/m-p/1297763 You can make a registry edit to assign triple click or triple tap to middle click. I'm not on my laptop at the moment, so I can't confirm the specific keys, but they are mentioned in the thread above and at this link:http://iampaulh.blogspot.ca/2012/06/adding-middle-click-to-synaptics-touch.html Set 2 for right click and 4 for middle click for 2FingerTapAction or 3FingerTapAction for tapping. You also may need to set (X)FingerTapPluginID and (X)FingerTapPluginActionID to 0.  There's a different registry key for clicking as opposed to tapping, but I can't remember it off the top of my head and I can find it with some quick googling. It should be clear when you see it though.

  • Thinkpad yoga pro 15 w/3D sense

In case someone was curious as how the Windows 10 upgrade went on a Yoga Pro 15 w/ 3DSense.
Windows 10 installed the latest graphics card drivers for Win10 but installed a slightly older version Intel driver 10.18.14.4049 instead of 10.18.15.4248 for the 5500. I have no issues with the Intel driver so I'm keeping it this way for now since it's running fine. Probably install soon.
Upgrade was pretty smooth. Only Driver hitches that I had to download after install were the 3D Sense camera driver (Camera was inoperable at first start of Win10 but no issues after installing Lenovo's Intel Win10 3D drivers) and lenovo Power Management Driver.
All in all it was pretty trouble free from what I can tell so far!
I first made sure to update as many drivers as I could from Lenovo site before the upgrade. I did have to force start the update in windows as it kept failing on it's own everyday like others have experienced.

I did not update drivers that were solely for Windows 10. I did update all other drivers listed for Win10 and Win8 you know the same driver works for both. I made sure that all drivers for Win8 were updated and no I did not uninstall any software. I did turn off my antivirus but in hinesight I would recommend uninstalling your antivirus before upgrade and download the newest version for Win10. I ended up uninstalling mine after the upgrade to install the latest verion Kaspersky. Doh! Actually should have known better. It didn't screw with the install but Win10 right away said, this Kaspersky has limited use.  The one thing that freaked me out when I upgraded was the 3D camera was inoperable but I downlaod the driver firmware for windows 10 it's backup and working.  So far everythings running smooth still playing around with stuff when I have the time to see if there is any glitches but so far looks good. Edit: I did update the Bios to the newest version before upgrade and that actually stabilized some issues I had with my yoga before the upgrade, lol.

My YOGA 11 S came with Windows 8.0. I upgraded to Windows 8.0 Pro W - Media Center without an issue a few weeks ago. Today I have twice attempted to install the WIN 8.1 Upgrade from the Store. Both attempts failed and rolled it back to WIN 8 pro. It's a stock machine, no mods at all. Please let me know if any others are experiencing issues.
Both times the error info were reportedly sent to MS.

  • Downgrading Windows 8.1 pro back to windows 8.1 regular

okay so my friend sent me a code for Windows 8.1 pro (I already had windows 8.1 but I thought I'd use it so I could try out hyper-v) and it all worked perfectly, apart from the fact that the code was only an activator code and now I need to enter another
code to get it to stop asking me to activate it, I'd be happy going back to windows 8.1 non-pro version but I just really need it to stop asking me to put in a code as it gets very frustrating while I am doing this on my pc. I know I shouldn't have used the
code without asking my friend if it worked properly or not but I just need to know if there is a way to downgrade back to what I used to have, thanks for the help!
I should also say that I am on a laptop that came with windows 8 already installed and have no product key for my original version

    Hi,
    Let make clear something.
Was the Windows 8.1 pro or Enterprise 64 bit on your computer?
Hyper-V is only available in the following versions of Windows:
    • Windows 8 Pro 64-bit Edition
    • Windows 8 Enterprise 64-bit Edition
    • Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit Edition
    • Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64-bit Edition
If your laptop came with Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, how did you enable Hyper-V?
Please don't use the shared key with others. The key is the unique license for one copy of Windows.
Meanwhile, please reset or refresh your PC to roll back to Windows 8 If you upgraded your PC from
Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 and your PC has a

  • Download issue when Windows 7 Pro joins a Windows Server 2008 Active Directory

    Hi,
I purchased 2 new Dell OptiPlex 3010 desktop computers that came with Windows 7 Professional operating system with SP1.
There were no Microsoft updates installed yet.  After I added one of these Dell computers to the Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, I was not able to download several items.
    Below are several examples:
    1) I downloaded the Norton anti-virus installation file.  This file is not the full installation of Norton; it is more of a file where you execute it and it will download the full installation from the Internet like from their Norton web
site.  So when I executed this installation file, it does not download the full installation files.
It just hung at the screen saying “Downloading” and it will finally stop with an error (don’t remember the error message).
Note: If I have the full Norton installation file then I am able to install it on this computer with no problems.
    2) I downloaded the Adobe Reader installation file.  This file is not the full installation of Adobe Reader; it is more of a file where you execute it and it will download the full installation from the Internet like from their Adobe web
site.  So when I executed this installation file, it hung at the downloading part and then it will error out with a “Actionlist Not Found” message.
Note: If I have the full Adobe Reader installation file then I am able to install it on this computer with no problems.
    3) I installed Microsoft Office 2010 Standard version on this computer.
I configured Microsoft Outlook to retrieve emails from my email provider (pop and smtp settings).
After configuring Microsoft Outlook, I was able to send emails through Microsoft Outlook successfully (and very quickly), but he was unable to retrieve my emails. The progress bar for the Receiving in the "Outlook Send/Receive Progress" box
shows no progress. The Progress bar is not moving. There is a message at the bottom of Microsoft Outlook stating "Receiving message 1 of 6 (x.xx KB of x.xx MB)" and it is very slow. My new emails were not being retrieved at all.
I tried various pop and smtp servers that was available for my email provider, but all had the same effect.
    4) I can access certain web sites (e.g.
www.yahoo.com, www.cnn.com) while I cannot access other web sites like
www.usatoday.com, my web hosting email site.
Note: I had a Dell computer with Windows XP Professional operating system and this computer does not have any of the above issues.
The above are only a few examples that I have experienced.
If I removed this Dell OptiPlex 3010 computer from the Windows Server 2008 Active Directory then I still experience the same issue.
So as another test, I setup the other new Dell OptiPlex 3010 with the same Windows 7 Professional OS with SP1.
This time, I did not join the Windows Server 2008 Active Directory and I was able to successfully download the full Norton installation files, download the full Adobe Reader installation files, download my emails from Microsoft Outlook 2010, etc.
But once I joined this computer to the Windows Server 2008 Active Directory then I am not able to download these files and emails at all.
It seems like there might be some group policy or a security setting that is preventing these downloads so I disabled the group policy on the Windows Server 2008 AD and Windows 7 Profession OS, but it didn’t resolve the issue.
I disabled all of the firewall programs on this Windows 7 Professional OS, but it still did not resolve the issue.
Since the Windows Server 2008 AD did not have DHCP installed, I installed DHCP and setup a scope.
Then configured the Windows 7 Professional OS to obtain an IP address, but it didn’t resolve the issue.
If I move this Windows 7 Professional computer to another network where it did not have any Active Directory; it just had a wireless router serving DHCP then everything works on the Windows 7 Pro computer.
Any ideas what is the root cause when a Windows 7 Professional computer join a Windows Server 2008 AD?
    Thanks,
    wl_tech

    Hi,
Could you please tell some information for the AD environment and how it connect to the internet?
Regarding 3rd party installlers didn't work as expected, please also seek help in their offical website.
For outlook not receiving emails, could you please take a look in
Event Viewer and see if there are any special errors logged there?
And when trying to access the website like
www.usatoday.com, any special errors IE showed out?
    Best regards

  • Yoga Pro 3 - Wifi dropped connections; refuses to reconnect

First day of owning my Yoga Pro 3. Has anyone experienced intermittent wifi failures?
I've had trouble on both access points that I have at home. One is an older 802.11b router (set to channel 1), and other a D-Link815 dual-band bgn router (with the 2.4Ghz radio set to channel 11).
I've experienced problems using both routers on either channel and when using the 5Ghz spectrum as well.
Connectivity with either access point lasts from 5 mins to 30+ mins (in limited time I had available to use it so far).
Far more frustrating is that when dropped, the YP3 refuses to reconnect. Manually selecting the access point in the network connections charm and clicking "Connect" results in failed attempts at connecting and system will refuse to connect to any Access Point for a random amount of time. At one point I had attempted to reconnect about 20+ times before it did reconnect.
Obviously, tried rebooting without any change in behavior.
I uninstalled the Broadcom wireless driver (the system the auto-installed a Microsoft driver which, from the version number, appeared to be an older version of the same Broadcom driver as they used a very similar numbering scheme and were very close). No change. I reverted that change.
Are there known issues with these wifi cards/drivers accessing open wifi connections? I live in the middle of no-where, so have had no compelling reason to secure the access points.
    What else should I try?
    Thanks

My WiFi connects fine @ 2.4 GHz only Access Point (netgear wnr2000 v2) 4 rooms away (~ 35 feet and my Linksys router is on the same room as me so I get 866.5 Mbps all the time), giving me fluctuating connection speed from 243 to 300 Mbps. I generally don't use the 2.4 GHz band but I occasionally try it to check for stability. It's working fine but there's too much 2.4 GHz clients in our area so I use 5 GHz for Netflix, Hulu steaming where low latency stability is needed.
Definitely try reseating the antenna so you can rule that out. If you still can't connect @ 2.4 GHz, try other 2.4 Ghz access points or it's just that you get a defectve Broadcom 4352 card or it might be even Windows 8.1 drivers itself.

  • PIXMA Pro-100 and Windows 8.1 Help Please....

    Hello,
I will try to be concise
Spent all day on the phone for this without the same answer twice *sigh*.
I have been told and I have read over and over that YES, the Pro-100 WILL absolutely work with Windows 8.1.
Then...I find out that it's possible that it will NOT work unless I have 8.1 Pro Pack.
    Is this true?
IOW...Is there anyone using the PIXMA Pro-100 with Windows 8.1 *without *Pro Pack just fine?
I ordered the printer yesterday before being told about this, and need to know if I have to cancel my order before it ships.
Thank you very much for any and all help.

    Sherri,
I have been using the Pro-100 along with three of the printers it has replaced, the 9000, 9500 and 9500 II since Win 8.1 came out.  They all work and work well with WIndoze 8 or 8.1.  I use Photoshop and Lightroom so the OS really doesn't matter.  If you do not have either of these, I will suggest you check into Photoshop Elements as an option.
With one of these mentioned programs you do not need any thing additional.  Including the Canon software that comes with the Pro-100.  But a couple of Canon's software is pretty good like the printing on a DVD.  But PS, or PSE, is where it at for photos that are possibile by the Pro-100.

  • Ready to install fresh win 8.1 on new Yoga Pro 2

So, I just got my yoga pro 2 Friday. Can't stand the extra stuff and 7 particians.
I've got a usb stick with a copy of win 8.1 on it. I can boot to it and get the windows installer started ( I stopped at the partiican table)
I got the drivers folder from the D: on the yoga backed up.
Got my win 8.1 pro product key written down.
Don't think I will need any of the lenovo apps.
Nothing else I need, right?  I did actually make a system image of the fresh install on another external drive when I got it, so if i did need to go back, I can.
The windows installer will take care of all partiicans, correct? I'm new to EUFI boot.  I can see that legacy mode is disabled in the bios now.
Thanks for any help. Looking forward to a clean install.  Wish I could have gotten this from a MIcrosoft store instead so I don't have to deal with it.

  • Clean Windows 8.1 Pro install over Windows 8.1 SL

    Hi,
I have a Lenovo H520g desktop, which came with Windows 8 Single Language installed. The machine is currently updated to Windows 8.1 Single Language.
As I am a software developer, I need to use Windows 8.1 Pro, because the SL version doesn't have Hyper-V, which is necessary to run the Windows Phone SDK emulator.
For the reason explained above, I would like hear the advice of an official Microsoft representative on the matter discussed on this topic.
I do know I can update from Windows 8.1 to Windows 8.1 Pro by using the "Add features to Windows 8.1" item on the Windows 8.1 Control Panel and buying the Windows 8,.1 Pro Pack. Nevertheless, I prefer buying the full retail version of Windows 8.1
Pro on a DVD from a local Microsoft reseller. I need a quick way to restore my machine in the case of a HDD failure and having the full retail DVD is definitely the best way to do that. If I upgrade by buying the Windows 8.1 Pro Pack, should my HDD ever failure,
I'll have to do the Lenovo restore procedure (which would restore the computer to Windows 8 SL), then upgrade to Windows 8.1 and only after that I could apply the Windows 8.1 Pro Pack.
My question is: will I be able to do a fresh install of Windows 8.1 Pro on my computer? Of course I'm aware I'll have to delete the partition Windows 8.1 is currently installed on. No problem with that.
But what about the license key? I've read that computers that come with Windows 8 pre-installed have the Windows license key embedded on the BIOS. Will I be able to start the standard Windows 8.1 Pro installation from the DVD and use the license key that comes
    with the DVD?
It's very important for me being absolutely sure I'll be able to do a clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro on my Lenovo desktop. The Windows 8.1 Pro full retail DVD is rather expensive here in Brazil (about US$ 320).
    Cheers,

    Hi PauloBR1,
If you upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro by Windows 8.1 Pro Pack, you can use
System Image Backup feature to backup your system. Also, you can use this feature to restore your system quickly.
    In addition,britishdhez is right.
We can use the Retail license key to active the Windows 8.1 Pro.

  • Adobe camera raw window won't resize and can't reach buttons

When I open an image from bridge into adobe camera raw 6.1 (Photoshop CS5) on my laptop, the camera raw window fills all of the screen (top to bottom) and the buttons at the bottom of the window are below the task bar. Thus I can't open the image in photoshop except by hitting the enter key. I can't reach the open, etc buttons. The window won't resize and there are no icon/buttons in the right upper corner to go to/from full screen. When I hit the icon in the top right hand menu bar in ACR (to go to full screen size) the window then fills the whole width of the screen in addition to the height, but no matter what I do I can't get the height of the window to shrink, so that I can access the icons at the bottom of the screen. What am I missing? Thanks

Don't worry about turning aero off just yet.
There are two key first questions:
What is your screen resolution (width in pixels x height in pixels)?  Right-click on desktop, choose Screen Resolution.
What setting have you chosen for the display size (Smaller, Medium, Larger) in the Display dialog?  Right-click on desktop, choose Personalize, then Display.
