Yoga 2 Pro microphone not working
Hi all!
I am now owning my Yoga 2 for a week and since yesterday I tried Dragon and Skype, but had to realize that the internal microphone(s) are not working!
I reinstalled the drivers automatically as well as manually, deactivated the device, deactivated the Lenovo Smart Voice App and changed any possible settings for mics (put it of course to maximum levels).
The Lenovo hotline here in Germany has no clue and only suggested to wait for new drivers.
Does anyone else has the same problem or do I have a faulty machine? In combination with the yellow-problem I am tempted to return the Yoga 2 as long as I can. Because if it is a hardware problem, the repair will take up to 2 weeks. Does anyone have suggestions for alternatives?

I sent my unit back 6 days after receiving it and they continue to delay shipment on the replacement item. I was told on the phone that I should expect 10 business days for a confirmation email on the replacement getting shipped out. Never got an email, had to go through rude customer service to find out they weren't shipping until after Christmas. Then got another update saying they wouldn't ship until sometime in January next year. In the meantime, their website was still guaranteeing Christmas eve delivery on new units up until a couple days ago. So basically if you pay for and receive a defective unit, you're LAST priority on getting a replacement unit. Now currently trying to cancel my order. Had they bothered to send me updates with reasons such as "we're working on fixing a few issues before sending out the next shipment" that would at least have been an explanation. Switched from Dell due to poor customer service, Lenovo doesn't seem much better.

This issue is similar to iMac's problem with the internal microphone not working in FaceTime. In sound preferences, I have the internal microphone set for input. In FacetTme, I have Video->Microphone->Internal Microphone selected. There is no corresponding menu item for Audio (perhaps this is the problem? ). When I make a Facetime video call, I can hear the recipient, but they cannot hear me.
When I go into the Sound setting->Input, select Internal Microphone and test it (like record something from Photo Booth), the bars (input level) remain greyed-out.

I have a webcam with ?a built in microphone (Ps3 eye). ?It is connected by USB. ?The drivers are the CL-Eye drivers; a third party driver set since Sony does not directly support the eye for PC.
in the windows audio device management, the microphone appears as normal and is set as the default device. ?I can use the windows sound recorder to record me speaking just fine. ?However if I use any other applications it doesn't seem to work at all. ?I can select the device as the default recording device in Starcraft 2 as well as Teamspeak 3 but no sound is detected. ?The USB microphone does not show up as a selectable device in recording options in my Creative Control Panel. ?Disabling the default creative microphone does nothing.
I think the problem is in that windows can directly detect the microphone and so software that uses the windows audio device manager works fine, but anything that talks directly with my sound card software does not properly detect the microphone. ?Basically, I can select the device as a default device but it does not work.
Any thoughts on this or am I SOL and have to find myself a shiny new headset?I had the same problem. You need to check the device index of your USB mic.
In my case. I'm on a Mac OSX 10.6 system. I had four devices cataloged. With the last one being the USB mic.
Then set like so in your AS code audioPub.microphoneManager.micIndex = 3;
Remember, that the indexing is 0 based.
The sound framework make the assumption that the index is 0.

Sighhhh, wasted so much time yesterday and today going around Sony centre and then carphone warehouse. They told me to come back after Easter.
I came home, banged the phone against the wall and it worked.
Turned out that mic was working on loud speaker and when using headphones so I thought that the secondary mic is working and the main one (placed with the speakers) isn't. So I banged that part against the wall slightly (in plastic case to prevent scratches) then put the phone underwater, waited for it to dry and now it's working. Idk how well and if it's of perfect quality again but people can hear me well. -
Internal Webcam and Microphone not working after Screen Fix
I own a HP Envy Spectre XT Ultrabook, and last week I tried to use the webcam and the microphone for the first time in a few months.
However I was shocked to find that Skype kept saying that the webcam was not detected. The microphone also could not register any sound.
Device Manager did not show any imaging devices or the webcamera, even after setting it to view non-present devices.
A check using msinfo32 did not review the webcamera either, and there were no problem devices.
Control Panel >> Sound showed that the Internal Microphone using IDT High Definition Audio Codec was enabled and working, however it could not detect any sound. All drivers are checked to be up-to-date.
I suspect this has something to do with the screen repair last month which a HP on-site technician came down to replace my screen, although I cannot be 100% sure. Although the screen is now working, the technician did not do a good job reassembling the screen - the bottom left corner of the screen cover has not be able to attach properly to the screen.
I have gone through my BIOS setup to make sure that there is no webcam disabled.
I have tried rolling-back and reinstalling the drivers for the microphone but it did not work.
I have tried uninstalling CyberLink YouCam (laptop preinstalled webcam software).
Please help, these two components are very important to me as I am going overseas soon. The laptop is still under warranty.Hey ajun,

For troubleshooting your Webcam, I would suggest taking a look at the document Webcam Troubleshooting (Windows 7). I would suggest the two options Video does not appear in your webcam software (such as YouCam, Skype, Messenger, ect.), and Webcam is not listed in Device Manager.
For your internal microphone not working either, please take a look at the document Resolving Microphone and Line-in Problems (Windows 7). From this document, I would suggest following the top two symptoms.

The sound on my macbook pro is not working. When I increase the sound, the icon appears as if everything is working, but no sound comes from the speakers. Earphones don't work either. I have tried a PRAM reset but at times, this doesn't even work. It's really frustrating having to restart my computer every time I want the sound to work, and even when I do that, theres a 50 50 chance of it working again. It generally happens after my laptop goes to sleep and I wake it up. Has anyone else had this problem and fixed it or even know what caused it?
There are a lot of discussions around the earphone jack but I have checked that. I've tried a PRAM reset which hasn't worked, and my sound output is set to Internal speakers.
HELP!!Hopefully one of these steps should solve the problem.
1. System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
Highlight Internal Speakers / Headphones
Make sure Mute is not enabled.
2. Remove the headphone.
If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
3. Reset SMC. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
4. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
Audio Devices window
Side Bar
Click the Built-in Output.
Under Mute any of the boxes checked? If so, uncheck it. -

There are no drivers available for Windows 8. I suggest checking in the Control Panel/Sound/Recording to assure that your microphone is selected. It seems that the Sound is one area that gets changed when updating to Win 8.1. At least, this is what happened to me.

Microphone works fine with Quictime on another mac, so I do know how to use it. The one where it is not working (A) had an external microphone and camera attached earlier, and indeed it does work with that external microphone, but not with the internal microphone selected; and (B) had RealPlayer installed previously.

Intructions how to install it in Vista/Win7.
Extract this driver with Winrar.
Open Device manager and expand the Sound, video and game controllers section.
Right click on Either the High Definition Audio Device if you have the generic Microsoft drivers, or the Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 if you have older Conexant drivers and choose "Update Driver Software..."
Click Browse my computer for driver software, then click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
Click "Have Disk..." then Browse to the folder where the drivers were extracted .......\V64 for 64-bit Vista/Win7. Click OK.
Select one of the "Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221" models in the list, there will be multiple identical entries.
Click Next, and you're done.
I'm not sure which one from the list will work for You.
This drivers weren't test. So if You will try them and it will work for You let us now about.

Try re-installing Flash player. I'm assuming at this stage that all your other audio works fine, e.g. CDs, DVDs, system sounds, etc... -

SemakoYuu can try to reactivate your iSight camera by opening up iMessage.. navigate to Preferences/Audio Video,and then click on Camera. IT shoudl be grayed-out if you only have one camera hooked up to your machine. If you have an external camera, then disconnect it from your machine.
