Yoga 2 Pro - Pentile matrix RGBW characteristics and display of yellow
The Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro utilizes a Samsung LCD panel with a Pentile Red-Green-Blue-White (RGBW) pixel matrix, as opposed to a standard Red-Green-Blue (RGB) matrix on more conventional LCD panels. The Pentile matrix uses a modified physical layout of the pixels, taking advantage of white sub-pixels to deliver a brighter display at lower power consumption levels
A drawback of this modified matrix is a lower color luminance than a standard RGB matrix. This is most noticeable when viewing yellows. Some yellows may appear greenish in hue.
OFFICIAL FIX
An updated system BIOS has been released that, in conjunction with a new version of Lenovo Energy Manager, adjusts pixel and backlight intensity to optimize yellow performance, regardless of the selected power mode.
Both updates must be installed for the changes to take effect. It is recommended the BIOS update be installed prior to installing the updated Energy Manager.
To download the updates:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS035004
Installation notes: Based on internal testing and customer feedback in the forum, it is possible in some cases that the system may not restart automatically after the BIOS flash completes. The screen will be black and the keyboard backlight will be on. If this occurs, press and hold the power button until the system shuts down, then press and release to restart. The energery manager must be updated for the yellow color correction, so there may be a pause on boot up, or when returning from sleep before the colors update.
This release has also been reported to reset the auto brightness feature (re-enable it). Please view this tip on how to disable adaptive brightness.
Previous work around:
On Yoga 2 Pro, this can be mitigated by switching to Performance Mode in Lenovo Energy Manager. To do this:
1) Swipe from the right edge of the display or touchpad to fly out the Charms bar
2) In the Search field, type “energy” then select “Energy Manager from the results
3) In Energy Manager, click the rocket icon to enable Performance mode
(Note: if this is the first time you have launched Energy Manager, swipe left through the introductory screens then tap OK to see the screen below)
Note: Ensure you have at least this version or above (should there is any)
Lenovo Energy Management for Yoga 2 Pro Laptop
Version: 1.0.1.51
Published date: 12/22/2014
Dear Lenovo, it is great that "Official FIX" solved yellow color issues for Windows users. Linux users however are still trying to use their hardware with its full potential. IMO Mr. Mark Hopkins (Lenovo Social Media Manager) shown little respect by closing long discussed forum thread about yellow color issue: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Windows-based-Tablets-and/Re-Yoga-2-Pro-13-Yellow-Color-Issues/td-p/1270427/page/116 - If he did not do that you would receive a chance to get more information on how many users is really affected by the problem. Please stop your ignorance and at least provide specific information on what does Energy Management fix realy change and how can this be replicated on other operation systems. Thanks in advance,

Satellite Pro A200 PSAFCA: Need Lan and display driver for XP
Hey
please help me!
I have just installed XP on my new satalite pro, but i have had trouble with the drivers.
At the moment I have installed most but from this site i can't seem to find a driver that will help my network card, nor my video NIVIDIA drive...
any suggestions would be very valuableThe Satellite Pro A200 PSAFCA is not known to me. I know only the Satellite Pro A200 PSAE1, PSAE4 and PSAE7. So could you please confirm your Pro A200 series?!
If you cannot find the single XP drivers on the Toshiba page I would recommend checking the LAN and the graphic chip which is installed on the motherboard and use the XP drivers from the chip manufacture.
If you need an graphic driver I would recommend using the drivers from the www.omegadrivers.net or www.laptopvideo2go.com site

my new iphone 5c does not pair with Macpro while Macpro display pairing via blue tooth and also my new iphon 5c does search other smart phones while Macpro does so
The iPhone supports only a limited number of profiles and will only pair with a computer for internet sharing (tethering, hotspot if your cellular carrier plan supports that). http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3647

What type of ssd does yoga pro 3 have?
Is it MLC or TLC? I heard people say yoga pro 3 uses sumsung SSD, and sumsung like using TLC which i dont prefer.
Samsung or LITE-ON, per the Hardware Maintenance Manual:

Yoga Pro 2 - Display not recognized in windows (Driver or Hardware issue?)
Out of warranty by a month!
Yoga Pro 2 - 256gb, installed new wireless card a month ago. Windows 8.1
The touchscreen still works while the screen is black.
System restarted after sleep mode I think.
The Lenovo logo is displayed, seems to load windows, but when windows loads (I don't see it load so this is an assumption) the screen blanks and the black light is on.
I can connect an external monintor which will connect after a return from sleep mode(odd). Which then turns the backlight off.
When on the external monitor the internal display is not even recognized by windows.
When I boot in safe mode, the internal screen works fine with of course limited capability.
I have reloaded display drivers from the support site.
Right now my internal monitor is not recognized by windows and is dark, and I can use an external monitor.
Anyone have any clues as to what my be going on? Hardware, driver etc???
What information can I provide?
Solved!
Go to Solution. This is a pretty weird issue with conflicting observations.
1) Screen works in Safe Mode but not in regular boot. (So, not hardware issue)
2) Display works on external monitor in regular mode. (So, not drivers issue)
Did you install the wireless card yourself? Did you unplug the display cable while installing the card?
Could you re-open and check that all connections are good?
Is the Wi-Fi card working well?
I would also recommend a complete reset of the laptop to eliminate the possibility that this is a corrupt driver. You can use the NOVO button to reset your laptop. Make sure to make a backup on external drive for your personal files.

I have an Apple MacBook Pro with 2 USB ports and a MiniDisplay Port. I also have an HDTV with a HDMI port. How can I use the TV as a display without any tethering wires between my computer and the TV? I have a MiniDisplay Port to VGA adapter, but there are two issues with it: The new display doesn't have a VGA port, and even if it did, I wouldn't want to have my mac constantly attached to the display by a cable. I was looking for a way to use the TV as a display without any wires. Is there some type of bluetooth setup I could use? Please let me know if you have any suggestions.
As I wrote above, I think you should look into the Apple TV yourself. The best place to find information about what it can and can't do and to ask your own specific questions is probably in the Apple TV forum, here:

I am going to buy myself a MacBook Pro in the near future and was wondering if the new Retina Display model would be worth the extra cash. I will mostly be doing photo/video/music editing.
if you're not in a big rush - why not hold off until Adobe and Microsoft releases an update to support the Retina Screen.
Don't get me wrong - the Macbook Retina is a good and videos look great - but when it comes to Photoshop, it's a little blurry and the fonts in Excel and Word is pretty blurry too.....I own one....
In any event, if it's something you can live with - then by all means - go for it.....
Otherwise - get the non Retina Macbook Pro - it's cheaper, and it's user upgradeable in both RAM and Hard Drive.
Good luck. -
The Problem/s
1. I am unable to sync my iPhone 4S with my Mac Book Pro, either by cable, wifi or bluetooth
2. iTunes will initiall open and briefly identifies the iPhone in the Device section in iTunes.
3. When iTunes starts to read the iPhone (displaying the spinning wheel), it immediately then quits and
4. Opens a 'dialogue box' which displays the message "iTunes Quit Unexpectedly"
5 The dialoge box offers the following button options to:-
'Show Details'
The 'Show Details' button will open and display a list of the 'Problem Details and System Configeration'. To the average user the information is useless, as one doesn't know what to look for to solve the problem. This is a long and detailed report (too long to include in this message), which includes information such as:-
Crashed Thread: 20
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x00000000000006f0
'OK'
The 'Ok' button simply quits and closes the dialogue box
'Reopen'
The 'Reopen' button will again reopen iTunes, briefly showing that it is trying to read the iPhone in the Devices section, but then returns again to display the same dialogue box.
Other Information
1. iTunes will still start normally once the USB cable is removed from the Mac book Pro, but crashes again once the USB cable is reattached to the computer
Any advice or help offered would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely
Rob

Macbook pro 17 inch primo 2011 and thunderbolt display crashes
I have a Macbook pro 17 inch primo 2011 and thunderbolt display which has recently started to crash.
Only modifications I have doen lately is I swapped the CD/DVD drive for a harddrive and put in 16 GB of ram
but it has been running for more than a month with these hardware additions without problems.
Today my Macbook has started to crash frequently within 10 min to 1 hour after plugging in my thunderbolt display.
I tried to check CPU heat, change RAM but it keps crashing.
When it crashes it either gives me a blue screen, a black screen or a distorts everythings and freeze up.
When rebooting I have to press Command-Option-P-R to clear NVRAM / PRAM.
I found a few support threads from people having similar problems so I started to disconnect the thunderbolt display
and without plugging it in my laptop works fine.
I have done a SMC reset also but that has not resolved my issue.
Below is the crash report and if anybody has any suggestions what to do to resolve this please let me know
My thunderbolt display was purchased in late 2011
If this is not solveable what options do I have ?
Thanks !

FireWire Device: My Book 111D, WD, 800mbit_speedThe other day I got the blue screen, the fan going on high, and then when I disconnect my thunderbolt connection from my macbook pro - i get a shutdown.
Today I got flickering followed by the fan on high and then again I disconneced my thunderbolt cable and after a minute or two a shudown.
This never happened before. Actually I was suprised to hear about a firmware update for flickering since that's never happened to me but since updating I now get the flicker.
Any ideas?? Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is my work labtop. -
I need to work on Adobe Premiere on my 2013 Mac Book Pro (with thunderbolt port) and display it on my 2010 iMac (with Mini DisplayPort) using Target Display Mode (TDM). I tried using a thunderbolt cable plus Option F2, but it didn't work. Will a Mini Display cable work? Any other suggestions?

Group and display characteristics in a user friendly way
Hi all,
We have a scenario where we have created a DOC type which we assigned to a class with several characteristics.
The problem is that the characteristics are not disaplayed in a very user friendly way in tab "additinal data".
Is there any customizing we can do in order to group the characteristics?
For example:
-Is it possible to show 3 or 4 characteristics and then have an empty line and then show another 4
-or Is it possible to customize to create sub tabs?
Any other ideas that can make it easier for the end users to change/display their characteristics would be helpful!
Best Regards
MikaelHi,
Is there any customizing we can do in order to group the characteristics?
For example:
-Is it possible to show 3 or 4 characteristics and then have an empty line and then show another 4
-or Is it possible to customize to create sub tabs?
All the configuration data is stored in some tables. So adding some lines as a separator into a database won't be possible since tables have fields which have certain data types which won't match the requirement.
Hence your requirement cannot be met.
Hope this answers your query.

Our mac pro went to a very faint display and we can't fix it.
Our week old mac book pro suddenly has a very faint display, almost all black and we can't fix it. We've re-started etc.
I assume you have tried the "obvious" stuff, like using the brightness buttons (F1 = dimmer, F2 = brighter) or turning up brightness in system preferences>displays. I'm sure you tried all that, but I just had to say it just in case. Anyway, you may want to try reseting your PMU...
PMU stands for Power Management Unit and it is a chip that controls the backlighting of your display (among other things). To reset your PMU do the following:
1. If the computer is on, turn it off.
2. Disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the computer's battery.
3. Press and hold down the power button for 5 seconds and then release the button.
4. Reconnect the battery and AC Adapter.
5. Press the Power button to restart the computer.
Those are the official apple instructions, but I suggest in step 3 you hold the power button down for 10 seconds.
Here is a link that refers to reseting the PMU on a MacBook.

MacBook Pro won't automatically switch between internal speakers and display audio
I have a MacBook Pro that connects to a LED Cinema display. It used to automatically switch between internal speakers and display audio when plugged in to the display but won't anymore. I have to manually change it in System Preferences --> Sound. Does anyone know how to make it do that again?
thanks,
BenI just want to add, I have the same problem, and just want to help raise awareness of it.
1st, the problem only started recently (have been using the Thunderbolt display since it was released), I did not have this problem, and noticed it beginning only in the last month. (since January)
2nd, My particular setup, includes a hard drive attached to the firewire port on the back of the Thunderbolt Display (so, I am wondering if anyone else experienced this problem with a firewire drive being connected).
My full setup:
Macbook Air (2011)
Thunderbolt display
Western Digital drive (attached to firewire of display)
3rd, If I go into settings, what I will see is the "Display Audio" is selected (but no sound coming out),
If I then select "Internal Speakers," a buffered "history" of all the sounds I did not hear is then played (pretty funny actually) - for example, if I sent mail, adjusted the volume, and started playing a song.... it immediately plays all those sounds when selecting "Internal Speakers"
4th, If i then select "Display Audio" - it does nothing
5th, what I have to do, to resolve this is: eject all my hard drives, disconnect the thunderbolt cable, then reconnect the thunderbolt cable, and everything works as normal. -
Logic pro X 10.0.4 and EUCON problem - plug-ins name won't appear on the display of artist series
I'm currently using mavericks , logic pro x 10.0.4 and eucon 3.0.1
There was a freezing problem which is now resolved by clicking the prevent app nap in the info on eucon app and all my most used apps.Yes - it works exactly as it did in Logic 9 under ML - my problem under mavericks and pro X was sluggish updating of display - turned encoder on MC MIX and nothing happened imediately and names on MC MIX not updating properly.
I only changed app nap to off - ie ticked it on get info panel of the EUCON application and relaunched whole lot and it as worked prefectly since (fingers crossed etc)

I am having problems to run logic pro 9, there is an error display that says I need to set bonjour and that this app serial number has been used by another red user, could anybody guide me? actually, my computer can't start since three days ago, could it be the same problem?
Logic is the APPlication (program, app) that you are having the problem with.
Logic Pro can take advantage of other computers on your local (home or work) network to help it do "heavy lifting" data chores by using Bonjour and a feature called Nodes. It seems that Logic is attempting to find and connect to another machine on your network.
Do you have Logic installed on another computer there? That may be the source of the confilict.
You might want to post this question in the Logic Pro Community.
Be sure to indicate the version of Logic Pro that you are using. I'm sure the folks there can help you out.
