Yoga 2 Pro, Win 10 update, reverting back to 8.1

Hi, first time poster here. I went for the Windows 10 upgrade from my 8.1 Yoga 2 Pro laptop, things seemed mostly fine except for when using the laptop in any mode apart from standard laptop mode. Response from touch swipes were extrememely laggy. And as I bought and use this device in these various other modes I thought it was a rather limiting update. I advise caution on that front. I have reverted back to Windows 8.1 and have had some issues with Apps working, particularly the lenovo ones. I have tried the usual measures of uninstalling and restarting, but the app store won't let me re-download them. It says they are still installed. Any help would be appreciated.   Thanks!

I had a couple of issues after a win 10 STD upgrade from USB lash drive. Windows update wouldn't run at all. I needed to completely turn off Use Account Control and then rerun windows update. It would then start, but the update process failed. I ran the troubleshooting app in the control panel for windows update, which fixed the problem. I could then turn UAC back to where it was. I also have 2 problem devices in device manager, which I haven't fixed yet.
    Serial IO 12C Host controller

  • Yoga 2 Pro (Win 8.1) wifi adapter go missing once a while

Dear Yoga 2 Pro fans,I'm sharing my fix here.  I'm a device driver/firmware s/w developer so I know a few things My Y2P (bought in April 2014) works fine except that the Wifi adapter need to be disable/enable (via Ctrl Panel->Networks) to make it find my wifi router after power up, or after wake up from sleep.  I've been living with this product defect but tolerable, and the wifi speed and stability is normal.  I only use Y2P in laptop mode.I was using :* Intel(R) Wireless-N 7260, driver 11/17/2014 v17.13.2.2 (was update via 'Update Driver...' button in the Driver Properties),      -- "Allow..device to save power"=checked,      -- Advanced tab's U-APSD Support = Enabled* Intel Smart Connect (ISCT) is installed but turned off* Intel PROSet/Wireless Tools v17.14.0* BIOS was 76CN38WW Until 2 weeks ago, I updated the N7260 wifi adapter driver to12/16/2014 v17.13.12.1 (was update via 'Update Driver...' button in the Driver Properties),  and hell broke loss... The wifi adapter will go missing randomly, i.e. midway when transfering files in the LAN, or after power up from shutdown, or after return from sleep. Subsequent shutdown and power on will not recover the missing N7260 wifi adaptor !!  No overheating issue as I was using battery at 60% full. And more strange, I leave Y2P over night, or a couple of hours, and the N7260 wifi adaptor appear (be detected by Win8.1) the next morning....Bluetooth is always working and no problem. After spending one day, reading both Lenovo and Intel N7260 forums, I think I solved it but it wasn't easyas there are many combinations. Here's my final config* BIOS is 76CN43WW 5/5/2015, with Lenovo Fast Startup = Disable* Intel Smart Connect (ISCT) - uninstalled with Control Panel > Programs* Intel PROSet/Wireless Tools v17.14.0 - uninstalled with Control Panel > Programs* While N7260 wifi adaptor is in 'missing' state, via Dev Mgr > View > Show hidden devices -> Uninstall drivers & remove files, and reboot Y2P* Download from Lenovo Support Y2P and install 13kd018f.exe (while N7260 wifi adaptore is in 'missing' state), shutdown and wait for 1-2 hours.* Power up, and hopefully N7260 re-appears, check via Devi Mgr -> Intel(R) Wireless-N 7260, driver 5/26/2014, 17.0.3.3      -- "Allow..device to save power"= Unchecked,      -- Advanced tab's U-APSD Support = Disable      -- Power provide set Max Performance on Battery and Plugged-In I've used this for a day and is stable, will monitor more, and report back !

Ok, the above doesn't work, but at leas the Wifi adapter now consistently disappear the 2nd time when Y2P boots up after a shutdown or from sleep. I've brought it to Lenovo Service Center (Shenzhen), and found it's h/w issue, both the Wifi card has to be replaced as well as the 'sound card' that has connectors to hold the wifi card to the motherboard  Checking fee: CNY 50Wifi card: CNY 380Sound card: CNY 280Cleaning fee: CNY 50 Gee.. my Y2P is just 2 months past the 1 year warranty

  • Yoga 3 pro Win 10 Upgrade Observation Thread

I noticed a couple of things with mine:
touchpad remains operational in tablet mode, additionally The touchpad disable button does not work(Fn + Delete)
Cortana says the microphone isn't designed for windows 10. I presume a driver update will fix this, since the microphones were designed for the Dragon assistant that came with 8.1.

    Hi Cubo
I can recommend a few solutions (which others have tried) -
    1) Go to Control Panel > Device Manager > Network Adapter
    2) Right click on the Wireless adapater and click Uninstall.
    3) Restart the laptop and wait for the original drivers to install again.
    4) Test the Wifi.
    5) If it still doesnt work in Step 4, download the latest drivers for Win 10 64bit from Lenovo website and install those.
    EDIT -
    6) Instead of Step 5, I have seen a new driver  for the WLAN (release on 7/17/2015). To install this, go to the Control Panel > Device manager > Network adapter. Select and right click the WLAN card and select Update driver.
    If that doesnt work -
    1) Shutdown your laptop for half an hour USING the hard shutdown button (on the right side).
    2) Start and then test the wifi.
If that doesnt work then -
    1) Setup a (hidden) OPEN network on your router.
    2) Enter the hidden network SSID on your Yoga 3 Pro
    3) Connect to it, see if that works.
Also, Did you have any VPN client installed prior to upgrade?
    (like CISCO)

  • Yoga 2 Pro Win 8.1 WiDi/Miracast quirk

So since Windows update offered a new Intel graphics driver 10.18.10.3379 I've had an odd quirk in connecting to my adapter.
I will connect to my PTV3000 fine, use it and disconnect all fine.  The quirk comes in after I shutdown my PC and restart it.  The next time I turn on the PC when I attempt to connect to the adapter, Charms>Devices>Project  I am not given a list of adapter but the list of display options: Disconnect, Duplicate, Extend, Second Screen Only ???????????????
Why after the PC has been off (overnight) and freshly started would it think it's connected to an adapter already?
I have to perform a Restart in order for it to reset properly and show me a list of devices to connect to.  This is pretty annoying since I just turned the PC on int eh first place.  I will note that upon shutdown, I have checked that the PTV3000 is fully disconnected and the Project menu is showing the device as eligible to connect to.
    Specs
    Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro
    Intel Dual-Band Wireless AC 7260 - 16.6.2.1
    Intel Graphics 4400 - 10.18.10.3379
    Ideas?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Since the PTV is showing as a display on the Project menu that means the PC thinks it has successfully recoginized the device and thus a successful installation.  Which it obviously does not.
    Uninstall the widi software.
Go to Control Panel>Devies and Printers, delete the PTV device
    Reinstall Wifi drivers
    Reinstall Graphics drivers
Reboot (you probably will have to after reintalling those drivers anyway)
Then try to Add/connect to the PTV again.

  • Yoga 2 Pro - Win 8.1 x64 Pro - VeriFace doesn't work for Domain accounts

First - Lenovo's own tech support team seems completely unprepared for this product.  There are no install packages online for anything but core drivers and the support teams really don't know much about the custom Lenovo software like VeriFace.  Not bashing, just a disappointing reality.  I'm hearing Lenovo does this all the time and that in a few months, stuff will appear.  Great.
REAL issue: VeriFace won't work for Domain accounts.  Pure and simple.  I'm a geek, so I know the right account name shows up at the lock screen.  When I type in the password, it says Incorrect.  If I use a local account, bingo, works perfectly.  I Googled some notes back in 2008/2009 where some people found a work-around by creating a local account with the same login name (obviously without the "domain\" part) to trick VeriFace.  I tried it and it didn't work.
    Can anyone else confirm this?
p.s. I tried uninstalling / reinstalling and you DON'T want to do that.  See my first point.  You can't re-install b/c the software ONLY exists in the hidden reset partition in OneKey Recovery.  You have to completely reset your PC in order to get it back.

Confirmed. I even tried this trick, but this did not work for me

  • Yoga 2 Pro - Dragon Assistant Update Failure

I was setting up Dragon Assistant, and the program told me that an update was available.  I clicked on Update, and the program uninstalled itself, but failed to reinstall an updated version.  The Dragon Assistant "application" folder is now empty.  I tried running the update exe application from nuance dragon assistant folder in windows explorer, but the update exe could not find the files it needed to run.  Repair" is not listed as an option for Dragon Assistant in the "Programs and Features" control panel.  So -- how do I restore Dragon Assistant to my machine?  Thanks.

Hello. This is Benoit from Nuance Communications. We are aware of this issue and are in the process of telling Lenovo and Intel about what can be done to fix it. For now, we have the following solution to propose.
If the update of Dragon Assistant to version 1.5.15 fails, try to do the following:
Type Windows-R, enter the following command, and press enter:
    "%TEMP%\a-Dragon Assistant Application Update en_US 1.5.15.exe"
If that doesn't work, download the following file, and run it:
    http://dragonassistantcontent.nuance.com/release-1.1.1/1.5.15/Dragon%20Assistant%20Application%20Upd...
Once this is done, we recommend that you run the Dragon Assistant Updater tool prior to starting Dragon Assistat again. You can find it in the Start screen by typing "Dragon Assistant Updater".
Please reply here if you still have issues with the Dragon Assistant update.

  • Yoga 2 Pro Went DEAD After BIOS Update

Had a horrible experience .. with good ending ... when upgrading Bios for my Yoga 2 Pro. So I'd like to share with others. I bought my Yoga 2 Pro last June (Man 3/22/14) and love it! But, it had problem restarting automatically after Windows Update. At least 3 times (That I can recall. Did not use it briefly from June 30 - July 22), the screen reminding user not to shutdown after Windows the update would stay on until I manually powered it down and restarted it. Last July 23, it did again after Windows Update. Searched Lenovo web-site and found a Bios Update for Yoga 2 Pro (Win 8.1 64-bit). Downloaded the new Bios (dated July 11, 2014) and went through the instruction striclty. First of, the screen responses were not at all as detailed in the instruction. So, the instruction is not very good.  Received 2 warnings: Make sure the laptop is connected to the charger during the procedure, and the bios is for Yoga 2 Pro ONLY do not install it on any other models. As part fo the procedure, the laptop switched to a Bios Utility program. Again received the aforementioned warnings. Update progress was shown on the screen. All of a sudden, then screen went blank and the keyboard stayed lit. Waited for about 30 minutes. Still the same. Press and held the power button down (not sure for how long)  ... nothing!   Just no response from the latop.  Called Tech support. She (the tech support lady) said that ... it is not recommended for user to go through the BIOS upgrade! What?  Then why post it on Lenovo.com? She also said that I should not have downloaded software from the internet and upgrade, especially for BIOS. Well, I told her that I did not download the program from ANY web-site, I downloaded it from LENOVO.com. She said further that looks like the BIOS update had damaged my mother-board, there is a problem with Win 8 & 8.1, and because it was my own doing ... the damage would not be covered by the warranty!  Considering the circumstance, Lenovo would waiver the initial $99 fee to assess the damage, but I would have to pay for any repair costs. In any case, I was so fumed at Lenove Tech Support responses that I hung up. close my laptop and put it aside. Almost 24 hours later, when the battery drained completely, I connected the laptop to the charger, press the power button to turn it on ... and ... to my surprise, the laptop booted and everything came back normal! The last (7/25) auto restart seemed to go well. Not sure if the auto restart problem is fixed with the new BIOS, but it seems to be. Time will tell.

Thank you for your posting.  I searched the net when I ran into the problem, but could not find any help.  Obviously, my search was not exhaustive. I was trying to make the following:    a.  Lenov should be more specific in their BIOS update instruction.  Their instruction was ... far ... far from reality.      b.  Lenovo tech assistance was ... not much help.  After listening to the description of my prolem, the tech lady immediately said that the operation must have damaged the mother-board, and that the operation is not ... recommended.  No guidance on draining the battery a or how to restart the machine, etc...  What I received was confusing that caused more panic!   As a note, I had done BIOS upgrade on DELL PC/laptop before w/o any problem.  I fully understand the implication of a BIOS upgrade, but trusted that manufacturer fully tested whatever that they post in their web-site.  Oh well, live ... and learn!  All in all, the Yoga 2 Pro is a great machine and I love it!  Hope that anyone who runs into the same problem will be able to get the needed help in time! Cheers,

    Hi Chris,
Is the Mini HDMI to HDMI adapter compatible to transmit audio? Can try with different HDMI cable or TV and see if that helps.
If its showing in "Sound" as not plugged in, then its possible that the adapter does not transmit audio.
    Hope that helps.

  • New Intel HD4400 drivers for Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro?

Intel has new drivers for the HD4400 graphics chipset that's supposed to fix a bunch of issues and that's downloadable from Intel's website. Intel's update utility identifies the drivers as compatible with Yoga 2 Pro, but when attempting to install the installer aborts itself and tells the user to acquire the drivers from the "manufacturer", i.e. Lenovo.
When I check on the Lenovo site, however, there are only drivers dated October 2013.
In graphics driver age that's ancient.
So when is Lenovo allowing its Yoga 2 Pro users to update their HD4400 drivers, which in Oct 2013 were rather broken?
I'm talking about inadequate resolution scaling for the Yoga 2 Pro's high-res screen in some games, for instance, which is a pretty big issue to left unfixed. Meanwhile the Intel Update Manager that came with the Yoga 2 Pro's software bundle cannot, as of May 2014, even connect itself to the net to check for updates for whatever reason.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I was messing around with the power saving features with the Intel Software.
Y2P (Power profile is my own doing)
    -CPU @ .7Ghz
-Brightness @ one button press below 50% on the slider bar
    -CPU utilization 0-1%
    -Keyboard led off
    -Wifi on
    Panel Self refresh off
Extended battery life for gaming off
    Display power saving off
    = 5,600 mWh
    Panel Self refresh on
Extended battery life for gaming on
Display power saving on (slider to max battery)
    = 4,600 mWh
I didn't get any screen flicker but I only had it on those settings for 10 or 15 minutes
As I am typing this post with one tab in Firefox open it is running at 6,600 mWh. Windows reporting 4:22 Hr and 52% battery remaining.

Subsequent to Yosemite or updates, my repeating calendar events can not be updated as before. When I update an event (of a repeating event) on my MacBook Pro; its reverts back when I shut it down and come back, and doesn't update other devices?
Has anyone experienced this and does anyone know a fix?

This is incredibly frustrating for me too!
I have a repeated monthly event for a discount at a store that is offered on the first Tuesday of every month. So I have a repeated event taking place on the 1st of every month. In the previous month I reset next month's date from the 1st to whatever date falls on the first Tuesday.
But ever since upgrading to Yosemite, I am experiencing the same problem as the original person who posted. The date saves on my calendar but does not sync to my iCloud. When I reboot the computer, the date reverts back to the 1st.
I'm thankful I don't have any events that needed to be tracked because ALL of my previous changes in the past have reverted back to the 1st of the month. I would have been in the same terrible situation as yaz999 in having to manually change every event in previous months.
Why hasn't this bug been fixed yet???!!!

  • Updating Yoga 2 Pro from Win 8.1 to 10 - dialog window problem!

    Hi.
I have downloaded the image (https://www.microsoft.com/da-dk/software-download/windows10) and created a bootable USB stick with that image. And when I boot from the USB stick, it starts out fine. BUT when the window with the Install dialog appears, it's så tiny (7cm x 6cm) that it's completely impossible to see the text - let alone hitting the radio-button with the mouse! I cannot change the display in any way during the install, so I have no option than to cancel the installation. I do NOT want to install win 10 from the net, as I did that yesterday on my Lenovo t400s, and that s*cks big time. It installs on the old Win 7 and keeps the old config, and I presume that this is the reason it performing really, really bad. So in other words, I want a clean install on a clean partition.
This is not new to me and this Yoga 2 PRO! As I am writing this - on my desktop PC - and is logged on to the net on the Yoga, "Intel Update Manager" appears on the desktop and the dialog window is 7 cm wide and 6 cm in hight, at the text 1 (ONE!) mm in hight!  And it does not help to change the displays settings to 800x600, the dialog box stays the same size :-(
I have the same problem when installing Office 2007, the dialog box is 7 x 6 cm, but here the text is size 10/11 and there is no scrolling possibilities - so it is not possible to make a custom installation because I have no other way to install, than to hit Enter! And when I come to the dialog where I have to enter the key, do a copy/paste of the key from a text document and hit Enter once again!
So in other words .... HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP :-)
I have tried the search option before starting this message, but cannot find anything :-(
    Have a nice day :-)
    /Frank

have you tried WindowsKey + the "plus" key to make the window look bigger (WindowsKey + esc to escape out of the zoomed view) ?

  • Yoga 2 Pro when reverting back to Wi 8.1 from Win10 cant find monitors via ThinkPad USB 3.0 Dock

I upgraded to Windows 10 but my system was running too slow, unable to work. I then reverted back to Windows 8.1. Now that I am back to 8.1 I am unable to push my screen to 2 external monitors via the Lenovo ThinkPad USB 3.0 Dock as I did before. I can use the mouse & keyboard through the dock but its not seeing the monitors.
I tried uninstalling the drivers then installing, but its telling me they are there. Could it be it thinks I am still in Windows 10 even though I am not??
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Yes - did you ever find a solution? I tried updating the Displaylink driver.

  • Yoga 2 pro slow in other modes in win 10

I have just upgraded to windows 10 and I have noticed that the Yoga 2 is really slow with the CPU throttled down to 770Mhz all the time when in any other mode(tent, tablet etc) than the usual laptop mode. Anyone with the same problem and how to solve it? Have read some similar threads after the upgrade to win 8 to win8.1 where the problem was the DPTF driver but do not know how to fix it now..

Have you tried updating DPTF driver from Lenovo's website ?
This was indeed well known issues with yoga series in windows 8.1. I have also just upgraded to windows 10. What I did was updating the driver. The last driver from Lenovo's site was version 7.1.0.21 03 dated 7/6/2015. I had no problem whatsoever. The CPU was never throttled to 770 Mhz in tablet mode, tent mode nor stand mode. I have checked all the modes. In fact, I see no performance issues on these modes. Although it might be too early to say as I just updated the driver earlier today. Another solution might be by completely disabling DPTF from BIOS setup. You can enter the BIOS setup by pressing the button next to power button while the laptop is off. Howeer, I see no advantage of it for now. My Yoga 2 Pro now is now actually runing cooler. For the record, I have also disabled DPTF when I was on Windows 8.1. But I noticed, the fan sometimes is making noise even when I am only surfing the web. Now that I am on Windows 10, I can say that enabling back the DPTF helps the fan to run without making much noise.
    Wish you best of luck.

  • Yoga 2 Pro Auto-Rotate Disabled (button is gray) on Win 10

Hi all, Upgraded my Yoga 2 Pro to Win 10 today, and the auto-rotate feature stopped working. The enable auto-rotate button on Win 10 is disabled, and in the display settings, the auto-rotate is switched on, but this doesn't make a difference. Don't know if the problem is with Lenovo or Microsoft, but would appreciate any help I can get...

Folks - any of you restored back to windows 8 to see if it still works? I did after my win 10 upgrade (with no rotation) and to my dismay, rotation no longer works in the factory image. I spoke to Lenovo and they are treating it like a hardware failure (apparently the factory reimage is the smoking gun for them). I'm starting to wonder if the Win 10 upgrade could have hosed the sensor!? FWIW - I have installed windows 10 about 5 times now on my Yoga 2 Pro, and in every case, the rotation lock function appears as a option (after the graphics drivers are updated by windows update) and pressing the button causes the on screen display to indicate that the autorotate is being toggled.
