Yoga 2 Pro, Windows 10 has screwed a lot of things up!

I upgraded to Windows 10 a few days ago and noticed a lot of my drivers were screwed up. My trackpad wouldn't work very well, my brightness buttons on my keyboard don't work, and going into device manager shows that my video drivers aren't working properly. I've downloaded the Lenovo solution support center which wasn't able to update any of my drivers and I tried to manually update the drivers from this website by downloading and installing but nothing has worked. I'm at a loss of what to do. Any ideas?

  • Yoga 2 Pro Windows 8.1 stuck in automatic repair loop

So my Yoga 2 Pro is stuck in the (in)famous Windows 8 Automatic Repair Loop, and I'm not sue how to fix it now. I unfortunately neglected to create a Recovery USB stick, so what are my options without it?
I've already tried booting the computer with the Novo button and choosing System Recovery, but at that point the system goes right back into the Automatic Repair loop. I'd strongly prefer to back up my data before resintalling Windows if that's an option--is it possible to stick the SSD into another computer to do so?
Also, would a USB recovery disc created by someone else with a Y2P be useable on my system? I don't need the full partition image since the one already on mine should suffice. I'm also unsure of my system's Windows 8 Product Key, where can I get that if/when I do need to reinstall Windows?
Thanks for any help, it's greatly appreciated.

    First and foremost, good luck:
    Method 1:
Wait for the machine to boot into the 'Automatic repair couldn't repair your PC' error message.
    Click the 'Advanced Options' button
    Open cmd and type:
    bootrec /fixMBR
    bootrec /Fixboot
    bootrec /rebuildBCD
    and also
    chkdsk /r c:
    chkdsk /r d:
    Method 2:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNKEsOF7e4M
Method 3 (copied from a youtube comment):
    1. Turn on the computer.
    2.  Wait for the machine to boot into the 'Automatic repair couldn't repair your PC' error message.
    3.  Click the 'Advanced Options' button
    4.  Click the 'Troubleshoot' button
    5.  Click the 'Advanced options' button
    6.  Click the 'Startup Settings' button
    7.  Wait for the system to reboot into the 'Startup Settings' menu (is the same menu for safe mode)
    8.  Select the 'Disable early launch anti-malware protection' option. (Press '8')
    9.  If this worked for you, you should now boot into windows.
    10. Now you can shutdown your system and it should hopefully work first time the next time you start the system.

  • Yoga 2 Pro Windows 10 device orientation sensors not working windows 10

I upgraded my Yoga 2 Pro to windows 10, and experienced some of the problems related to CPU throttling in tablet mode (running super slow) and they keyboard being disabled after suspend. After trying to upgrade drivers (none were newer that what was provided along with Windows 10) I reset Windows 10 (http://www.qoncious.com/questions/how-restore-windows-10-factory-settings) and it seems those two problems are gone, however I do have a new one
It seems like the sensors are not being detected correctly. The screen rotation orientation is not being detected, and the position of the screen is also not being detected when it's flipped back.
    Device manager shows:
    - HID Sensor Collection V2
    - Sdo Sensor V2 10.0.10240.16384
Related Computer Management Services appear to be up too:
    - Sensor Data Service (not running - running it doesn't seem to matter)
    - Sensor Monitoring Service (running)
    - Sensor Service (running)
Any suggestions on how to fix this would be appreciated. Until then, hope this helps others get a usable Laptop running W10 at the least!
Note - YMC is not anywhere to be found - and flipping the laptop still disables the keyboard but only at full rotation...I've read about this elsewhere on the net. Seems like we still need some drivers from Lenovo..

emobo, I have the same lenovo yoga 2 pro as you (or similar enough... 3200 x 1800 display,  core i7,  256GB ssd).  I have also experienced problems with the windows 10 upgrade in the area of transitioning from laptop, stand,  tent & tablet mode.  In particular,  tablet/tent/stand mode becomes extremely laggy and unresponsive,  as if taps and screen interactions are stacked in a queue,  then,  execute dafter 10 to 30 seconds...  (Its not related at all to screen rotation lock - that works fine). For the others reading this post... the features are described on the lenovo 2 product page and are (or were?) the highlight of owning this type of laptop.  i.e. when flipping the screen around past some point,  keyboard is disabled... http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/yoga-laptop-series/yoga-laptop-2-pro/ I did the original upgrade via the in place win 8.1 to win 10 upgrade,  keeping all applications,  including the Lenovo software that was included when I bought it ~ 1 year ago.  The laptop did transition automatically to tablet mode,  but performance in tablet mode was unstable and pretty much unusable. I clean installed windows 10 by using the refresh my PC using the keep nothing (no apps,  no files) option.   I backed up to my NAS first... I don't keep may files on the PC anyways - most are on OneDrive. Since then I have been hesitant to put back on the Lenovo software,  and decided to just use the manual swipe in from the right to switch into table mode manually until Lenovo gets a solid windows 10 version of the transitioncontrol software released.   The problem with manual switching...  the keyboard is still active (maybe there is some setting for that somewhere...) if I feel adventurous again,  I may try installing the Lenovo software again.  Will post back what I find. Posting this even though I have no solution... more because I still think it is a software problem,  not something wrong with the actual hardware.

  • Yoga 3 Pro Windows 10 compatbility

I'm watching the Windows 10 experience thread and I have a question. When will Lenovo release Win10 drivers that support the Yoga 3 Pro (and other Yoga's too?) full capabilities?  I could also ask, considering Win10"s gestration periood why these drivers aren't ready now?  I do use the various modes and not having tent and/or having the touchpad active when in other modes except laptop will prevent me from updating.  Not a huge issue, but I'd like to know how long as the Yoga is the newest and now only Windows box in my house not on 10.

    I presume you've been here - http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-3-pro-1370-laptop-lenovo?TabName=Downloads

  • Yoga 3 pro windows 10 trackpad scrolling

The driver for the yoga 3 pro on Windows 10 needs some work.  You can no longer use double fingers to scroll on the start menu or in many of the modern apps.   Is there any work around to this?  When unstalling the driver, the trackpad isn't disbled in tabalet mode, which is more annoying than the scroll issue.

If you download the latest drivers, you can get some of the hotkey functionality back. It disables the trackpad in tablet mode but it breaks scrolling with your fingers in some apps.

  • Yoga 2 Pro + Windows 10 = External Monitor not working via micro HDMI

I upgraded to Windows 10 last week and everything was smooth.  Today when rebooting my system, the unit no longer can see my external display.  I have tried multiple other displays and none seem to work.  I have the latest video drivers for Win10 from the support site installed but it still doesn't work.  Any thoughts?

I had issues with extreme sluggisness of my Yoga 2 Pro when I connected my external HDMI monitor after upgrading to win 10. I disabled DPTF in the BIOS and all the issues went away immediately. I have not tested yet what the impact on my battery life will be. Regardless, this is something Lenovo really needs to fix in the driver! If you don't know how to access the BIOS, here is a good link: http://www.howtogeek.com/126016/three-ways-to-access-the-windows-8-boot-options-menu/

  • Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro - Windows 8.1 Update 1 - Resolution not clear

Does anyone have the same problem or any fix ?
    Thanks.

I am running into this same exact problem. Can you guys provide exact instructions (I'm a computer layman) on how to change the scaling so that things look like they were before?
Everything is fuzzy for me even though I have the highest resolution as always. This happened exactly when I did the new Windows 8.1 update.
Help appreciated! I created this account just to make this post.

  • The latest update has broken a lot of things...

There was a big update which required me to restart and it did that whole initial setup thing again. However things like the Disk Cleanup Manager take ages to open now and programs like Nvidia's Geforce Experience don't open at all any more. Just lots
of programs and things are broken and don't work any more.
I just tried to to remove something from home and my screen started flashing once I did it. I got it to stop by restarting and installed nvidia drivers to see if I could get the GeForce experience working again and then my screens started flashing again but
won't stop this time. Having to type using my phone since I cannot use the pc any more until I reinstall windows. Weird how making changes now does this since that big update. Guess it is back to windows 7
Notification icon constantly has a red circle with a white line going through it as it flashes. The screens aren't turning on or off, just flashing grey and then going back to desktop.
Lots of werfault.exe in the task manager
I noticed my caps lock, num lock and scroll lock lights haven't worker since the update too. Also as my screen flashes like this my cup runs at 50 percent and my c drive runs at 100, so windows is doing something. I disabled svhosts one by one and it stopped
but I had access to nothing and then it blue screened

have you use latest version of nvidia driver, you have a compatibility issue here.

  • Can't Make a Decision on the Yoga 2 Pro

Am in the market for a new laptop and love the look of the Yoga 2 Pro.  It has the specs that I'm looking for - i5, 256gb SSD, 8gb RAM - but I keep hesitating over the 3200x1800 resolution.
I am a middle-aged guy (with middle-aged eyes) who will be using the laptop for typical e-mail and internet browsing as well as heavy MS Office, particularly Excel.  I looked at a Y2P in Best Buy today and in Desktop Mode even the basic taskbar icons were tiny.  Resolution was set at the native 3200x1800 and the scaling was set at Largest.
From what I understand, Windows Store Apps appear just fine, but many desktop apps have scaling problems.  Is that a true statement?  What about Excel?  Are the menus and cells the same size as I would be seeing on my older Windows 7 screen?
If I change the resolution to 1080, will everything remain fairly crisp or will it blur?
The Yellow and Wifi issues are fixable, but I can't get a handle on this high res thing.  I'd hate to pay $1k for machine and have to hobble it to make it usable until the software catches up.  If you use your Y2P like I would (i.e. MS Office, etc.), do you find yourself cursing at small menus and icons, or are you working away in complete bliss?
    Thanks.

I don't own a Yoga 2 Pro, but about resolutions:
TL;DR: If 1600x900 is an option, you shouldn't get any of the traditional blurring caused by changing resolutions.
The long version with math and some history about Apple and Lenovo:
Yes, changing a 3200x1800 native screen to 1920x1080 will make it blurry. Why? Because 3200 cannot neatly divided into 1920 and 1800 cannot neatly divided into 1080. You can't split pixels, so you get some blur as the monitor tries to round-off some things.
Buuuut, if you can set it to 1600x900 (the original Yoga's resolution, incidentally), then you might be OK. It's exactly half the native and shouldn't cause any blurring.
But, I don't own a Yoga 2 Pro, so I don't know if 1) 1600x900 is an option and 2) if there are any other weird things that happen.
But, the normal blurring that happens because you change from native resolution on an LCD is because...in the end...we can't make half-pixels. You have to use integers.
Apple was smart about this, actually:
    iPhone 3GS: 480x320
    iPhone 4 (first w/ Retina-branding): 960x640
Perfectly double -> no blurring. Made the whole transition a lot smoother.

  • Yoga 2 Pro Protected Video

I just bought a Yoga 2 Pro a few days ago and Am pretty happy with it, however I am having an incredibily annoying time with it when it comes to video. Any windows 8 app that plays protected video does not work. It sends and error message similar to this one (from netflix):
With that said, I've already read the forum https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Windows-based-Tablets-and/Updated-Yoga-13-to-Windows-8-1-Now-No-Vi... and it seemed like the solution was to install a really old audio driver from before windows 8.1. I tried installing this driver but it stated it could not find the device for this driver installation, so that was a bust. Another solution on this post was to go into the audio settings and disable the enhanced sounds, I've also done this and there have been no changes in my results.
I also tried re-isntalling every single driver from lenovo support page including, bios, audio, graphics, as well as the power driver (there was another problem with that which the new driver fixed). After installing I still get the error message that shows above. This is increfibly annoying as I expect to be able to use my laptop out of the box and have fully updated and working drivers.
Along with new drivers I searched the protected video errors and found this page on microsoft support: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2777760
On this page they say that you need to update with the KB2768703 update. Because my winfows update says there are no updates available, even though I'm missing several, I went and manually downloaded the updaate, but it states that it cannot be applied to this machine. I've compared installed updates from this computer to a friend who also has a yoga 2 pro, and he has about 10 more newer updates that are simply not working on this machine (they all say canot be applied to cuurent machine when manually downloadinig).
WIth all of that said, does anyone have any widsom on how I can solve this issue? I'd very much like to watch videos through apps and actually have an excuse to like windows 8.
Edit: I forgot to mention that I also tried the registery fix supplied by the microsoft support sight, and in the registry the protection option wasn't even present, so that fix did not work either.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

After another session of googling and looking things up I finally fixed my issue. I stumbled across this article about things you should do the second you open the lenovo up. The first section that talks about the graphics driver is what I had to do in order to get it working. This included UNINSTALLING the Graphics Driver in the programs and features and then installing the latest directly from intel's site. • Yoga 2 pro freezes

Until a month ago  I was so happy with my yoga 2 pro but, it has freezed 1-2 times per day since then. Touchscreen, keybord, mouse in short anything do not respond. Just I can do is the hard reset.  I am not sure if problem is related to any software or hardware thing. It is very annoying. I am living in Turkey and I am not sure if the lenovo service care with that problem. I was really trusting lenovo name but now I feel sorry not to buy asus. Have anybody encountered the same problem? any solution?

It has to be a software problem. Try reinstalling windows with the help of the recovery partition.
