Yoga 2 stylus compatible with Yoga 1 ?

Hello,
I hear the just-announced Yoga 2 includes a digital stylus. I wondered whether it will work with my first generation Yoga 13 , and if so whether the stylus will be available to buy as an accessory.
Thanks

Unless your machine came with digitiser pen in its original package, then the answer is no it won't be compatible. Since, the wacom digitiser pen requires additional hardware in the screen (digitiser layer).
The Yoga 2 Pro doesn't have the Digitiser layer installed, so it won't be able to use the wacom pen.

  • Is Yoga2 SSD compatible with original Yoga

Does anyone know if the Samsung 256gb SSD that comes in the Yoga2 13 inch. is compatible with the original Yoga 13? I'm looking for an addtional drive to add to the second slot and located one but before purchasing want to make sure it will work in the original Yoga. From what I've read it doesn't seem to be any issues but not 100% and could use some clarification. Thanks

Yes, the drive will fit - it has a 9mm x 2.5" form factor and will fit right into your current hard drive bay. If I were you, I would buy an enclosure for your old hard drive and use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the old drive to the new. See https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4122.
Installing the drive is very simple - you just need a Phillips #00 and a Torx T6 screwdrivers. There are literally hundreds of videos on YouTube that take you step-by-step through the process of installing a SSD into whichever MBP model you have. I've a late 2011 and basically all I had to do was two remove the ten screws on the back panel with the Phillips, unscrew the two-screw bracket with the same Phillips, and remove the four Torx screws that hold the drive in place and reinstall those on the SSD using the Torx screwdriver. It's really a very easy process.
When you have your SSD installed and your old drive in an enclosure, you'll boot from your old drive, use Disk Utility to erase and partition your SSD ("Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" with a single GUID partition) and use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the old drive to the new. Then select the SSD as your Startup Drive in System preferences and reboot. That's it.
    Any more questions? Call back...

  • A lot of bugs works on yoga 2 pro with linux 3.13.5

Hey guys,  I’m trying get archlinux works on yoga 2 pro but I get lots of trouble and it seems that nobody posts this before.
    1. Keymap problem, F1~F12 doesnt work, (well, F9 just turn off the screen without Fn), it seems that I need set keymap manually. But I don't know how.
    2. The '\a' problem,God knows which key I hitted yesterday, now the system alarms everytime I over hit 'Up key' or others. Anyone knows how to turn off the alarm?
I guess this laptop is really attractive and there must be alot linuxer works with it right now.
    any help?
    Thank you very much!

Hey guys I'm back, sorry for that I was not patient enough to find my own anwser. My sound problem doesnt bother me until I found that Firefox cant play sounds either.
    Here is my /etc/asound.conf
    pcm.!default {
    type hw
    card PCH
    ctl.!default {
    type hw
    card PCH
if you want to know, I found that, as mentioned before, some application works (vlc)  and others not(aplay, still gave me the channel count non available, I dont know what that means).
    aplay -l outputs
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****

Actually, the reason that PCH card switched to 0 is I add snd-hda-intel.index=1,0 in kernel parameters according to (the Gentoo Wiki told me that  firefox use card 0 as output no matter if it's default card or not)http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/ALSA#HTML5_ … ox_browser. And it didnt solve the problem.
I dont know if it's the same reason for no sound problem of   firefox and aplay, but it seems that all other fellow works fine with yoga 2.
I couldnt believe you guys never met the same problem, we use the same laptop after all, so, thanks alot for any help or hint.

  • Yoga 2 10inch with Win 8.1 and problem with CCleaner

    Hi guys!
I bought my new Yoga 2 10inch with Win 8.1 few days ago and everything was all right, until i installed CCleaner. The CCleaner app window doesn't move smoothly when i'm using it by touch screen and touch pad, choosing the options works slowly and it doesn't display correcly...
Do you have the same problems?
Thanks a lot and sorry for my english

I guy on Youtube made a rough tutorial.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lI8AnNBIlLQ
    Englisch subtitles available
In the comments he suggests, to download the Iso with anouther win-8.1-key - no matter which one - and to install the system clean. In his opinion the system will get the key from the hardware. He is writing, that there is just a universal iso. So it's no problem to download an iso with another key, even if your system is a Home-Edition and you download it with a Pro-Key.
    I will try this.

  • Autodesk Revit on Yoga 3 Pro with Windows 8.1 not working

I have just started working with my new Yoga 3 PRO with Windows 8.1, and have found that it has compatibility problems with Autodesk Revit (2014 & 2015).  This is perhaps a graphic driver issue.
Does anyone know of any solutions/updates that will resolve this? Or a way to communcate this back to Lenovo?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have been running Revit 2014 very successfully for months now - There is
probably a limit to the size of projects that will run efficiently on 8GB

  • Yoga Tablet 2 With Windows 8.1 as a Point of Sale Device and Clerking an Auction

First of all, the touch response within Windows 8.1 is excellent.  I do physical labor and my hands have a lot of calluses and scars on them and I've always had problems using touchscreens.  It's thus a joy to use this tablet with Windows, as I must say that the touch response is excellent.
Clerking an auction in the company I am with using  Android and Windows are pretty much similar. However, the differences come at the end of the auction during checkout.  Using Android, the bidders still have to queue up at the checkout counter to have their credit cards scanned and their pick tickets and receipts printed.  With the Yoga 2 with Windows, I can scan their cards with a Windows app and the camera and print their receipts wirelessly through our wireless printer.
We recently opened a store in the auction facility and decided to use the auction program as a Point of Sale application.  We figured we could use tablets and the program would give us a good accounting of sales and expenses and inventory control.  It worked!!  We've been using tablets for awhile now and was able to do away with all the paper except for the pick tickets and receipts.
To start with, we have to enter the inventory in the system.  It's time consuming with pen and paper, it all has to be counted and then transferred into the computer.  Using the tablet, it's counted and entered into the system all at once and there's even the ability to take a picture of the item being counted and entered also.  Each item is assigned an item number which is labeled on that item. We also take consignments, we have the ability to list the products by consignors and generate a report so we know what we need to pay the consignor at any given time.
(The Yoga Tablet 2 with the dashboard open.  The Yoga Tablet 2 is on the left.)
Anybody who wants to purchase an item in the store or bid on an item at one of our auctions has to register and be issued a buyers number or a bidder number.  We can enter their email address on this form and send them coupons or sale notices.  A buyer or bidder can opt out of this if they so desire.
Once a buyer is registered, they are now free to purchase an item in the store or bid on an item in an auction. For the most part, this is the window that a clerk will see.
Once the items are sold to the buyer, then it is time to check out.  Enter the buyer number in the box and options will come up to pay, either by cash, check, credit card or Paypal and this is where a tablet with Windows comes in handy because Windows will recognize a credit card scanner and will print receipts wirelessly to an online printer.  Android will also scan a credit card, but I haven't been able to get Android to print from an online printer yet.
The Yoga 2   makes an excellent Point of Sale device, it is light, fast, small, and it runs cool.  There is a video below that shows the hands on experience.
Thank you Lenovo for giving me the opportunity to try this out.
The Yoga Tablet 2 as a Point of Sale device.

So nice ! I like this new tablet and description product and the youtube video is more comprehensive and explanatory.

  • Epson Stylus Photo PX710W is not compatible with Mavericks

I still cannot scan with my Epson Stylus Photo PX710W. My scan driver (scan.app version 3.7.1) is not compatible with Mavericks. Who can help me?
Epson does not react to my question when the correct driver will be available.
Epson indicate to their FAQ’s, but this is will not help since the ICA scan only works when my printer/scanner is connected to my Mac via USB. I bought this EPSON printer/scanner because it was wireless. Now after just 3 years I miss this important option.
I see a lot of discussion about Epson scan drivers but little help from Epson
Who can lead me to an appropriate scan driver for my Epson device?

I disagree a bit because my Epson printer/scanner worked very well for over 3 years. It worked under Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion. But since I installed Mavericks my scanner doesn't work anymore. It's just a case that Epson is very slow in upgrading the drivers within an appropriate time on the one hand and not giving any foresight how long it takes to repair drivers on the other hand. Their website is inadequate and gives me absolute no information at all. I can understand their vision when it comes to printer/scanners which are very old i.e 10 years and mor. But not for relatively new printer/scanners.
So, if anybody can help i'll be very greatefull.

  • Is Flash CC not compatible with Wacom Feel It Driver?

Is Flash from the Creative Cloud not compatible with the Wacom Feel It Driver?
Whenever I try to use the pencil or brush tools with my digitizer pen, a line instantly forms towards the lower right.
I am using a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga (64 bit) with the digitizer pen that came with it.  I am running Windows 8.1.
The default Lenovo digitizer drive does not include pen pressure sensitivity.  However, the digitizer is Wacom based, and the "Feel It" driver, which Lenovo recommends, tracks the pen pressure.  On most programs I run, the digitizer works fine.
However When I run Flash from the Creative Cloud, which I just downloaded, I have the problem mentioned above.
Below is a screenshot illustrating my problem.  The straight black lines were all created simply by tapping my digitizer to the screen, with the brush tool or pencil tool selected.  If I held the digitizer on the screen, I could continue the line in any direction and vary the thickness with the brush tool.
The blue lines were all created with a mouse.  As you can see they do not have problems.  The green lines and shapes were made by using my digitizer and a shape tool or line tool.  The digitizer works perfectly for the pen, shape, line, bucket, select, etc.
I have uninstalled the Wacom driver, and the problem has gone away.  However, without the Wacom Driver, I cannot alter the line thickness with pressure.
Is the Wacom Feel It Driver compatible with Flash CC?  I would think that it is, because I hear of people using it, but it does not seem to work for me.
Thank you in advance. I'm sorry if this question has already been answered, I was unable to find a solution by searching.

    Hi,
The issue is resolved in the latest update of Flash Pro.Please update Flash professional to 14.1.0.96 .Follow the instruction below for the same :
    Installation instructions
Log out and log in to the CC desktop application. Update the application when prompted.
You should see the list of new updates as soon as the new CC desktop application is launched.
Install Flash Professional CC and Mobile Device Packaging app. On a high speed connection, it took me around 8 minutes.
After the application is installed, you can launch the application directly from the desktop app by clicking on it.
Also, make sure the wacom drivers are latest and you are using the tablet in PEN mode and not Mouse mode.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sangeeta

Please don't expect Lenovo employees who take part in this forum to answer this question. As they are involved in a competetive business, they are unlikely to show their "cards".
And FWIW IMHO Gizmodo hasn't got it completely right either.

  • Yoga 2 Pro vs Yoga 2 13: the differences no one is talking about

I just received a Yoga 2 13, but even if I spent a lot of time evaluating reviews and specs I just realized the chassis is slightly different from the Yoga 2 Pro. This is something was barely talked in reviews (actually not all), and I thought the real difference was in the FHD vs 3200x1800 display. Apparently there's much more.
The First thing I noticed is the different palmrest texture: grippy and almost leather-like on the Pro, and simple matte on the 13. Then I noticed a bit of flex in the base of my unit, and actually a little bend in the upper lid I managed to get straight with a bit of pressure. This is when I noticed the materials: under the same orange finish there's definitely an alloy (magnesium) on the lid, while the base is just plain plastic.
After looking up a bit I found all the answers on two Myfixguide articles. To sum it up:
-Pro has magnesium bottom plate with a reinforced magnesium metal chassis structure (grid-like)
-Non-Pro has a plastic bottom plate and an ordinary plastic frame with very thin alloy reinforcement (typical of non-Ultrabook)
-Pro has two smaller cooling fans, vs the single and bigger (and often noisy) on the non-Pro
-the only storage option in the Pro is a mSATA mount, against the M.2 (SATA) mount plus a new 5mm 2,5" bay (with proprietary connector) on the Yoga 2 13, which is definitely the ultimate explanation for the added thickness
-Pro has different speaker placement with "longer sound tubes", maybe leading to better bass as the website wrote
-Pro has a giant battery taking much of the space inside, 7400mAh vs 4500mAh of the non Pro. Yep, a 2/3 difference leading to the same 9 hours of battery life (on paper).
    Disassembly pics:
    Pro: http://www.myfixguide.com/manual/lenovo-yoga-2-13-disassembly/
    non-Pro: http://www.myfixguide.com/manual/lenovo-yoga-2-13-disassembly/
    Talking of (official) numbers:
    Pro: 12.99" x 8.66" x 0.61", 3.06 lbs
    non-Pro: 13" x 8.71" x 0.68", 3.43 lbs (SSD), 3.65 lbs (SSHD)
Width is clearly the same (12.99" is quite an absurd measurement, what the hell?), with 1.3mm difference in height (really?, could be just an error in measurement) and 1.8mm difference in thickness, which is the thing everyone is going to notice the most.
One thing that seem overlooked (at least to me) is that the Yoga 2 Pro is NOT marked as a Ultrabook. To be precise, the Yoga 2 Pro is a Shark Bay platform Ultrabook. I cannot find the precise specs for the platform, but the non-Pro seems to fit as well considered is less than 20mm thick, has Haswell, SSD, touch, anti-theft and so on. Maybe it's something about validation, or metal in the chassis? Don't know, but I'm curious.
Just to be clear, this doesn't put the non-Pro Yoga 2 13 in a worst position against the Pro. Yes, it feels cheaper in the bottom part and tend to flex, but to me still has a better price-features ratio than the Pro, not to mention the Yoga 3 Pro with Broadwell which is a step in the wrong direction (or at least, a different direction).

I swapped my Yoga 2 13 for a Yoga 2 Pro as there is one more major difference.
The Realtek and Atheros cards are alien in this class of laptops...
The Intel 7260N card is a reasonable alternative, but most people expect dual band for this amount of money.
The Y2P white list in the BIOS allows many more 7260AC cards to solve the wifi problem,
as the white list of the Yoga 2 13 is restricted to only 1 Lenovo specific 7260AC card (20200617).
This is due to the positioning of the antennas, these are closer to the user and SAR regulations enforce Lenovo to reduce the transmission power of the WLAN.
Another thing I really like the fact the Y2P fans are less noisy.
The 3200*1800 resolution in Win8 is a miss, as the scaling fcuks up while using an additional external momitor.
I'm still bound to 1600*900. Let's hope for WinX ..

  • Is Photoshop Touch compatible with Samsung Galaxy Note?

This is THE app I've been waiting for!
And first on Android - very chuffed, because I got my 1st Android phone days ago - the Galaxy Samsung Note - the size of which makes it super ideal for this kind of app!
However, it says on Android Market that Adobe Photoshop Touch is not compatible with this phone.
Can someone please confirm this? Or can Adobe let us know when it will be compatible?
    Thanks !

    Hi David,
I just checked it out: Photoshop Touch is still unavailable on GooglePlay-Store; it still tells me that my Galaxy Note GT-N7000 is not compatible.
    But:
Amazon App Store allows to download Photoshop Touch on Galaxy Note GT-N7000 yet !!! I bought PS Touch in this moment    I AM SOOOOOO HAPPYY !!!!
Definitely creating a 1920x1080 px layer and brushing on it, is not that fast as it is on my Mac ... but that was not the point It really works fine, althought the display is a little bit small for that stuff
Biggest thanks for the Galaxy Note support   and hate on GooglePlay
If anyone from Germany has problems putting Amazon App Store to German, contact me. I was fighting against some issues for more than 1 and a half hour Oo
So good night everbody and tomorrow will be a wonderful photoshopping day
PS: Just found some issues ... for example the preferences. If you clikc on preferences, there are some values to change (for example under "stylus"), but there is no text, what this value changes

  • All in one printer compatible with Mavericks

I have an Epson Stylus NX 430 which I've been unable to use since "upgrading" to Mavericks. Tried my HP Scanjet G3010 - also not compatible. I just need the name of an all in one printer/scanner that *is* compatible with Mavericks.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Judith,
It says in this Doc that the NX430 Printer driver is available. - so I think it will work for printing.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3669#epson
You'll have to check with Epson about scanner driver.
Have you been able to print? Do you get some error message? Most common one is "unable to download driver from the server." That just means you need to Reset the Printing System, then Add the printer:
