Yoga 2 Upgrade to Windows 10 - icon missing

I have Lenovo Yoga 2 13'' laptop running Win 8.1 I had a Win 10 icon (reserver your Win 10) and.... it disappeared 4 days ago. I tried all possible scripts and tips online, here is what I've done: All tricks fromhttp://www.askvg.com/fix-get-windows-10-upgrade-app-icon-is-missing-in-taskbar/  Nothing  I read somewhere it might be because I had Win 8 and upgraded to 8.1 I do not need to reserver, want to make sure I will update when MS releases it... Any thoughts? Any ideas?

hi m1979,
Welcome to the Forums.
Can you ensure that the KB2919355 (Windows 9.1 Update) and KB3035583  are both installed from the locations below (the latter is responsible for adding the Get Windows 10 update notification).
If doesn't work then you can opt to go back 4 or more days ago prior to the problem using System Restore and
Control Panel (icon views) > Programs and Features > View installed updates
Control Panel (icon views) > Windows Updates > View Update History
In addition, you don't really need to reserve and you can still get Windows 10 wihout the reservation.
 From the Windows 10 Q&A:
Can I get my free Windows 10 upgrade even if I didn’t reserve?
Yes. The easiest way to get the free upgrade is to reserve, but you can upgrade even if you don’t reserve.
Once Windows 10 is available, we’ll begin notifying devices that their free upgrade is available. Just open the Get Windows 10 app to schedule your upgrade. Note: Some notifications will go out as soon as Windows 10 is available; others may go out in the weeks or months following.

  • LR 3.3 Upgrade - Grid/Loupe icons missing

I have just installed the 3.3 upgrade and rebooted my computer. (Win 7 64 bit).
When I start LR 3.3 the (very useful to me) Grid/Loupe icons that were located just below the images display are no longer there in Library mode. How do I get them back?
    Thanks, Alan

Try pressing "T". (Show/hide toolbar - also View menu and show or hide the toolbar).  If you've got the toolbar, but bits are missing, click the down arrow head, far right of the toolbar, and you can check or uncheck what you want to see in the toolbar.

  • Desktop and finder window icons missing

Some of the icons on the top of my desktop suddenly went blank. they are there since I can click where they were and still use them. The same has happened to the top of the finder window as well. Here are some screen shots. Any one have an idea how to fix this? I ran MainMenu Pro disk permissions repair, cleaned the cache, did all maintenance and restarted with the no result.

    Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist and com.apple.finder.plist. Move the .plists to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by restarting and test. If it works okay, delete the plists from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plists to where you got it  from, overwriting the newer one.

  • Yoga 11 no wifi after upgrading to Windows 8.1

I have a Yoga 11 which I have just upgraded to Windows 8.1.  I now have no wifi on the Yoga.  When I go to device manager and check "Broadcom 802.11bgn Wireless SDIO Adapter" it says "This device cannot start (Code 10)".
Any ideas?  I'm about to toss this thing out the window.  I've had wifi connectivity issues since I bought it, and this update seems to have killed it.

    Salheureux, welcome to the forum.
You should go into the Control Panel / Sound to assure that your sound device is set to Default.  Also, right click on the speaker icon in the Taskbar / Playback devices and check that your speakers are displayed.

  • WPA security Types are missing after upgrading to Windows 8.1

After upgrading from Windows 8 Pro 64bit to Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit on my Sony Vaio Duoe 13, I could not find WPA security type while configuring Wireless network manually. (only WPA2 and 802.1X are available).
I have done a lot of troubleshootings like
    1-Reinstall Wirless original driver
2-Updating the wireless driver to the latest
3-Uninstall and reinstall windows 8 then upgrading again to windows 8.1
    But the same.
Is there any way to add WPA to the security type?

    Yes! It works!
To recap : My laptop has an Atheros AR9002WB-1NG adapter, windows 8.1. Even when it had windows 8, it was unable to connect, but unlike now, I didn't look closely enough about the type of network. Originally I thought it was
this problem. But they confirmed that others with windows 8 had no issues with this. Then , when I tried configuring the network manually, I could not find the WPA-enterprise option at all, only the
    WPA2-enterprise.
So here I was, and Greg Seth's answer gave me an idea.
In the following instructions, some commands are obvious, so I won't explain unless necessary. So here's what you do :
    0) Go to command line, preferably Administrator (not tried without).
    1) C:\Windows\System32> cd \Users\<User>\Documents
    2) C:\Users\<User>\Documents> netsh
    3) netsh> wlan
    4) netsh wlan> show profiles
    5) delete profile name=<yournetwork>
Enclose the name of network within quotes, this is to ensure that you can cleanly set up the right profile. Don't close the netsh, we'll need it some more. If you do, just reach there the same way as before.
    6) Right click the connection icon in lower right corner > open Network and Sharing Center > Set up a new connection or network > Manually connect to a wireless network
    7) Try to create a profile, and try to get as many details to correspond with your requirement. The rest we'll edit in command line, so let's make it as easy as possible.
    8) Do the same at the next screen. Edit Network settings > change all the parameters that you can, to match the requirement. My university tech support has a detailed document listing the options to choose, usually for windows 7, or even windows 8. get
as many of them as possible.
    9) Finish. Move back to your netsh terminal
    10) netsh wlan> show profile <profilename>
without quotes this time. This should show your previous attempt at creating a profile in the GUI dialog boxes. In my case, it had WPA2 and AES. It has to become WPA and TKIP. I also set my authMode to userOnly, since I hadn't done it right in the dialog box
    before.
    11) netsh wlan> set profileparameter
displays a humongous list of parameters with detailed options, just carefully examine the syntax. It's all here.
    12) netsh wlan> set profileparameter name=<profilename> authentication=wpa encryption=tkip authMode=userOnly
    13) netsh wlan> set profileparameter
    Don't exit this yet.
    14) Now click the connection icon, and connect to the network. It will ask you the username and password in a different style, that was my clue something was different this time.
    15) It should connect. In my case atleast, it did. Verify by browsing.
    16) netsh wlan> export profile name=<profile name>
In order that you're not put through this ordeal again, export the profile safely to a file. Again, the profile name in quotes.
    17) Wonder why microsoft makes things difficult for us!

What you are seeing is how Safari works now in iOS 5. There is no way to get that icon in Safari now. There other much better browsers available in the App Store. Look at iCab Mobile, Mercury, Atomic, ....
I have been running iOS 5x for so long now, that I don't even remember if that icon did appear in earlier iOS versions

  • G500 laptop upgraded to windows 8.1 now have a message missing a driver

My G500 laptop just upgraded to Windows 8.1 and now my alert action center message tray says I am missing a driver?
I can’t find anything missing? I looked through all the devices 5 times but nothing is marked with a question mark or similar?
    Any thoughts?

    Hi deagonslair2013
What you describe has been happening since the preview, Because all devices on a network talk to each other the driver error may not be on your G500 but on another device on the network.
For instance: I own a G700 & G505, I connected a tablet to the G505 & it installed the device but could not find any drivers for that device, Since then my G700 has been showing a driver missing although all devices are working fine on the G700 in device manager.
If you have any other laptops or desktops on your network with device drivers missing disable those devices & re-run the hardware scan on your G500 & see if that is the cause.
Edit What version of Lenovo solution center do you have installed, It should be version 2.3.002.
If your version has a .18 in the string its out of date & you need to update to the above version.
    Hope that helps!
    And welcome to the forum.

  • Upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 on the Yoga 3 Pro

Just what was it like for forum guru XBrav to carry out the upgrade of Windows on his Yoga 3 Pro from Windows 8 to Windows 10? Read on to find out how he found the experience.

I upgraded to Windows 10. I am concerned that the it downloaded poorly, as the opening article in this page suggests. I had real problems: my screen did not tilt correctly as I went from tablet to tent to the keyboard configuration. I lost all touchscreen operations, I had no touch screen at all. Cortana did not work even though she did configure my microphone. Some apps worked poorly; my backgammon game became much smaller on the screen. MSWord did not work at all. It did not go into screen mode when closed, it hibernated and then sometimes did not turn on correctly at all. I reverted back to Windows 8.1 and all is good again. Does anyone have any ideas about upgrading to Windows 10, which I still would like to do? Should I remove the files from C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and then go to Command prompt and enter wuauclt.exe /updatenow? Thanx, Queneau

  • Drivers missing for Envy 6 after upgrade to windows 8

There are a few missing drivers shown on the device manager after Upgrade to windows 8 for model: Envy 6-1006TX.
    The four items are:-
    1. PCI Device
    2. PCI Simple Communications Controller
    3. Unknown device
    4. Unknown device
I try to find it on the support and download page on the product support but could not find.
i even go to HP Support Assistant website to try download the support assistant for window 8, but the links is not working.
    Can anyone assist ? Thanks

Enter the Device Manager in Windows 8 by holding the Windows key and tapping the x key once. In the menu that is invoked, select the Device Manager. Right-click on the unknown device and then select the details tab. See the following image. I arbitrarily selected a device as an example.
Post the image by using the snipping tool. The snipping tool can be found by using the Windows key + x and selecting search. Type in "snipping" and the snipping tool link will appear for you to click on it and use as in the following image.
Post all that is before the &SUBSYS in the top PCI\VEN alphanumeric string and I can use it to see if the manufacturer of the device has  posted a Windows 8 driver. Sometimes the success rate for finding a driver is greater at the manufacturer website.

  • YouTube icon missing after ios6 upgrade

YouTube icon missing after ios6 upgrade

    D-fest,
I was upset about the YouTube app as well, and my initial impressions were that the Apple YouTube app was better, but after using it a bit I realized the Google YouTube app was actually better. Some of the features are initially not obvious (in this case it was a matter of what I was used to), but they are all there and more. It seems to generally work better too.
I don't stream an awful lot, but I have not experienced any wifi drops while doing so yet.

  • Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, Can't upgrade to Windows 10 - "Something happened" error

I've tried several times and I simply can't upgrade to Windows 10 on my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro. The instalation process exists with the absurd "Something happened" error. I tried to set the Locale to en/us, and tried to install the ISO through a USB stick but no luck! Earlier I had setup my yoga 2 pro as a dual boot with both Windows 8.1 and Linux. Although I've never made any change to my OEM drives, since I went dual boot the one key recovery service also doesn't work. I still have all those OEM drives intact. When I go to the BIOS setup, I have two boot sectors, one is the original windows boot, and the other is the new linux boot; but I'm not sure it is related or not.

    Hi SteveU,
Many things been tried (read the original post) - hybrid shutdown, intel drivers, uninstalling and installing again Lenovo Energy Managment driver (win 8.1 one), trying to use the Windows10 default driver for Energy management, shutting down with holding the shift (or alt button) can't remember now, many many things and clearly this is a Micorosft issue + Lenovo. Not enough testing down before hand, but everyone is happy at Lenovo as our money is at their bank... and have got expensive bit of kit that we shut-down holding down the button - because is just better than pressing shut-down...
This is the second time I'm let down by Lenovo - was thinking will give them another chance but as you can see moderators viewing or post but none of them has got a solution - isn't that right Amy@Lenovo or Majestic
Clearly Ms and Lenovo will blame each other now.
    Fed up with this...
Windows 8.1 is the way to go, don't know why I was hoping that the latest MS updates will sort the issue out - wrong again
At least the Mail app works fine now

  • Micro SD Karte Fehler nach Upgrade auf Windows 10 - Yoga Tablet

    Hallo!

  • Yoga 11S upgrade to Windows 8.1 issue

My YOGA 11 S came with Windows 8.0. I upgraded to Windows 8.0 Pro W - Media Center without an issue a few weeks ago. Today I have twice attempted to install the WIN 8.1 Upgrade from the Store. Both attempts failed and rolled it back to WIN 8 pro. It's a stock machine, no mods at all. Please let me know if any others are experiencing issues.
Both times the error info were reportedly sent to MS.

Found this link for a conexant driver for another Lenovo device:

Downloaded and installed it on my yoga 11s, now with 8.1 pro.    After download and install, a restart was required.  After that, the conexant HD audio and Dolby Digital Plus Home theater returned to my list of programs.  Windows Media player worked with video and audio.  Flash player worked using WatchESPN.com.  Seems to have fixed one of my 2 errors.

  • Satellite A500 - Missing programs after upgrade to Windows 7

    Hi,
    I have Satellite A500 - 134,
When I was upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7, I had to remove some programs as the upgrade advisor mentioned.
Now I miss those programs after installing Windows 7:
    # Toshiba Tempro
    # Toshiba ConfigFree
    # Toshiba Disc Creator
Also, "FN" button doesn't work anymore (it was working on Vista), so I can't activate any feature when I press FN + (some F# buttons like F2).
So, what can I do about this?

    Hi
Did you use the Windows 7 upgrade kit from Toshiba? This kit contains also an Utilities that must be used to due installation process and as mentioned in manual.
Anyway, you can get the tools on the Toshiba page now:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
For the FN buttons you have to install Toshiba Value Added Package.

  • HP SOLUTION CENTRE - MISSING for HP Scanjet 4890 Photo Scanner - after upgrade to Windows 7 or 8

Tearing my hair out after searching for months for solution - hope Someone Anyone can help.  I love my HP Scanjet 4890 Photo Scanner and it is still working wonderfully 90% of the time - after a number of years.
However - when I upgraded to Windows 7 and Windows 8 (on other machine) - I had to download New Drivers for it.  These did not come with the HP Solution Centre - which is where I was able to select "Transparencies or Slides".
I have Adobe Photoshop and can scan anything else - but not the Transparencies and Slides for which I bought the machine.
Is there a way of downloading the HP Solution Centre or accessing this feature?
    Happy to hear any solutions
