Yoga 8 and 10 Tablets - KitKat 4.4.2 - Auto-Rotation

After upgrading to KitKat 4.4.2, some customers report auto-rotation does not always occur while changing modes on their Yoga 10 tablet (B8000-F/H). Reports include the Lenovo Launcher home page, Facebook, and SolMail. Hard resets do not resolve the issue.
Please note that Lenovo has escalated internally on this issue. I was able to reproduce these reports on a KitKat 4.4.2 V24 build. I noticed slow auto-rotate and I quickly developed a habit of automatically "shaking" the device one time when changing the mode to force the auto-rotation.
These reports originated from this thread: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Android-based-Tablets/KitKat-roll-out-for-Yoga-Tablets-starting-Jun...
Note: This has only been reported by Yoga 10 Tablet users. If this is occuring on your Yoga 8 Tablet, please let me know so I can escalate it for the Yoga 8.
Thanks to YannisK for the pics.

  • Portege Z10T and Win7 - cannot get the screen to auto rotate

    Hi
I have installed windows 7 to a Portege z10t and cannot get the screen to auto rotate when flipped to portrait and landscape, I have had a look at the intel graphics properties and cant find anywhere their to configure this any ideas and have googled it.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi
Are you sure that you have installed all essential Toshiba tools and utilities as well as Win 7 drivers for this Portege Z10T series?
Toshiba EU driver page provides the essential software like *Tablet Easy Control.*
This utility is necessary for the auto rotation function of the Tablet PC.
I would recommend you to check if all software available on Toshiba EU driver page has been installed and run properly on your notebook

  • Yoga 2 Pro Auto-Rotate Disabled (button is gray) on Win 10

Hi all, Upgraded my Yoga 2 Pro to Win 10 today, and the auto-rotate feature stopped working. The enable auto-rotate button on Win 10 is disabled, and in the display settings, the auto-rotate is switched on, but this doesn't make a difference. Don't know if the problem is with Lenovo or Microsoft, but would appreciate any help I can get...

Folks - any of you restored back to windows 8 to see if it still works? I did after my win 10 upgrade (with no rotation) and to my dismay, rotation no longer works in the factory image. I spoke to Lenovo and they are treating it like a hardware failure (apparently the factory reimage is the smoking gun for them). I'm starting to wonder if the Win 10 upgrade could have hosed the sensor!? FWIW - I have installed windows 10 about 5 times now on my Yoga 2 Pro, and in every case, the rotation lock function appears as a option (after the graphics drivers are updated by windows update) and pressing the button causes the on screen display to indicate that the autorotate is being toggled.

  • [TP Yoga S1] Windows 10 - Auto-Rotate button doesn't work in landscape mode.

I just updated to Win 10 on Yoga S1. A strange problem occured regarding auto rotate. When the laptop is in landscape mode (normal mode), the physical "Enable/Disable Autorotate" button doesn't work, and the Autorotate button in the action center button is disabled. However, when I physically rotate my laptop, the screen rotates, and suddenly, both buttons now are active. This defeats the purpose of the button since it can't lock rotation when the laptop is in landscape mode. Anyone having this problem too?

Still have this problem as well. I've installed every windows 10 update I could find.BiosSystem Inferface DriverPower ManagementLenovo System Extension/ButtonSystem Update 5

  • Nokia N95 - I don't have Auto rotate

Hey there, I have the original N95 not the 8 GB and I don't have the auto rotate, I plugged my phone into my PC and tried updating the software but it says it's up to date. My sister has the same phone and she has it but not me.... Is there any way I can get it too????
Also my sisters phone is a little different to mine although it is the same model, her lights are all blue and mine are white my phone seems a little bulker then hers and she has a camera shutter and mine doesn't... I was just wondering whats the difference? is hers a different model???? is this the reason why I can't get auto rotate? cause her's is different?
    Thanks

There are a few varients of the N95 for example the N95-1 or N95-3,
You can check this on the sticker at the back of the phone under the battery.
If yours if of a different varient and usally tied to network (branded) then you might not be able to do a software update and have the latest generic firmware untill it is approved by your network.
So i do assume that you do not have the latest firmware V30 and above which has the Auto rotate feature.
You can check your firmware by pressing *#0000# when on standby.

  • Yoga 8 and 10 Tablets - KitKat 4.4.2 - Wifi Connection and Notification

After upgrading to KitKat 4.4.2, some customers report that sometimes after device awakes from sleep, the Wifi connection does not resume on their Yoga 8 or 10 tablets (B6000-F/H or B8000-F/H). Also, Notifications may not show the name of the connection.
Please note that Lenovo has escalated internally on this issue. I was personally able to reproduce the Wifi Notification not showing the name of the wifi connection.

I can say that the wifi had not yet been fixed.   My tablet was created after the dates listed for you reported updates.   Mine was delivered in the first week of April 2015, and still had hasn't ups after sleep and wifi problems where it randomly drops the connection.   Can't tell when the connection has been dropped since the tablet still shows that it's connected.
Please see the link below for some of us that have come together with the same problems.   We all can't have crappy Internet (especially sebum we have other devices connected that are solid) .   You've responded to one person in the link,  the originator,  but it would be nice to see some response to the remainder of the thread.  Everyone is getting to where they want to return their tablets and I'm sure you don't want to lose the money and reputation.

I have had a Yoga 2 Pro since June. Recently the Tent mode and auto-rotate features do not work.
When I put the Yoga 2 Pro into Tent mode the keyboard and touch pad are still active underneth. However, they shutoff when in tablet mode. Lenovo Transition starts automatically and is running.
Auto-rotate does not work at all now. The screen is un-locked.

  • Yoga 8 and 10 - KitKat 4.4.2 - Lock Screen Display

After upgrading to KitKat 4.4.2, some customers report the lock screen on their Yoga 8 or 10 tablets (B6000-F/H or B8000-F/H) does not display the application currently running when it is tapped to unlock. 4.4.2 Lock Screen No Cover Art.jpg ‏80 KB

KitKat OTA V28 was released on January 26th. It should resolve this issue.
If you are not currently running this update, you can download it by going to Setting - About tablet - System upgrade. Your device will then check to see what updates are available. These updates for the Yoga Tablet 8 and 10 (B6000 and B8000) begin with "A442_001_028"
Please note that if you have several updates to install, the device may only allow you to install two per day and the installation process may take several days to complete.

  • S230u reinstallation and auto-rotate lock button

Some time ago (after switching to SSD) I reinstalled Windows 8 and upgraded to 8.1. I have made a fresh installation as I could not get the image copying from HDD to SSD to work properly.
The OS has been working great so far, but the one thing I am really missing is the auto-rotate lock button next to the power button. It does not work at all and never has.
I do have the System Update 5 software for installing packages from Lenovo and have installed all of the drivers it recommended except for Password Manager and IRST which I do not need.
I have also manually installed the 'Hotkey Features Integration for Windows 8.1 (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad' package which I expected to be the thing I was missing.
Is there any additional software that I should install or something that I should enable to get the functionality?
I know Windows+O does the same thing, but when you are in tablet mode that key is not that handy.

  • X61t upgrade and auto-rotate not working

I just bought an x61t off trademe for $50. I've always coveted one because my old x60s was the best thinkpad I've ever owned. This one is solid and underused. I intend to upgrade to win 8 later, and add some more ram and  swap in a SSD. Just use for text input and browsing.
My problems are finding a user manual/guide, finding any thinkvantage legacy upgrade and, the biggest problem is auto rotate and tablet interface buttons don't seem to be working.
Looking on Lenovo sites hasn't been helpful in finding any of this information or solutions. It may be obsolete and unavailable.
can I download button drivers from anywhere? Any other solutions you can help with are appreciated.

    Hi syrahnose,
Here's your Hardware Maintenance Manual and here's a Service and Troubleshooting Guide .
You could also run TVSU and see if it comes up with anything for your tablet.
There are quite a lot of guides and manuals here .
    Regards,
    Dave
Edit:  Windows 8 should run fine on your machine. I'm running Windows 8 on a non-tablet x61 and it runs fine.

  • [FIX] Yoga 13 auto-rotates to portrait on startup after Win 8.1 upgrade

This was going to be a question post but I just stumbled across the answer on my own, so here's the solution instead!
After upgrading the Yoga 13 to Windows 8.1 through the Windows Store app, and even after installing all the new drivers, I found that every time I restarted when the lock screen came up it would suddenly rotate 90 degrees left to portrait mode. It would fix itself if I rotated the laptop or hit the hardware button to turn auto-rotate off and on again, but still kinda annoying.
    So here's the fix:
-Seach for "local services" and open it up
-Scroll down to "Sensor Monitoring Service"
     and double-click
-Mine had its startup type set to manual, change this to automatic
    -Restart the computer
    Note:
My Yoga was running a clean install of Windows 8 when I upgraded to 8.1, so I'm not sure if this applies to a Yoga with the factory install intact (or if it even gets this problem with the factory install, since I don't see any other posts about people having this problem).
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

With a factory configuration the serivce is set to Manual, Trigger Start, and this config seems to work well...

  • WHAT IS YOUR IDEAL CELL PHONE AND TABLET/ULTRABOOK/LAPTOP COMBO?

I’d like to see what everyone here thinks is the best CELL PHONE and TABLET/ULTRABOOK/LAPTOP combination to own this year now that the CES show is coming to a close.  So post up what you think is the ideal combination from what has been announced.  Maybe, just maybe, Best Buy will listen and insure they carry the products we want.
    My vote goes to:
PHONE = Samsung Galaxy Note LTE (unlocked - carrier independent)
TABLET/ULTRABOOK/LAPTOP = Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13 with Windows 8 and its’ IPS touch screen
(Posted this in the Cell Phone AND Tablet forums)

    Blackberry 9810
efficient keyboard for quick access to functions.  How many other phones have 26 quick keys to dial a number?
convenient one handed operation on the bus because it has a trackpad
great battery life with the slower processor
user replaceable battery.  You can change a battery for the cost of a good dinner.  Other phones have sealed batteries that force you to get a hair dry to rip the battery out.  Basically they force you to get a new phone....SCAM
durability..... seen too many cracked Apple screens.  Takes a lot of punishment without needing a THICK "bumper"
brightness.... notice how dim iPhone screens are on bus compared to other phones?
data compression.... doesn't  rack up my data plan.  Doesn't have Siri.  Blackberry uses 1/3 or 1/6 the data compared to other phones.  Very important, especially when travelling
BBM saves me money when texting with other international BBM users.
the 9810 sliding mechanism means the phone is compact when not used, but grows in size when needed
the 9810 keyboard does not shrink my viewing area when I'm typing
    Blackberry Playbook
plays flash websites.... i got tired of Apple forcing websites to create an App to work (scam)
fits in my purse and pocket
dual speakers without a dock..... it's amazing the audio quality
    stereo microphones
smart bezel where the frame is an added touchpad functionality
With the upcoming OS update next month, Blackberries can take remote control of the Playbook tablet.... HOT as the phone keyboard can be used as Playbook tablet keyboard and phone screen become a mouse!

  • Spry menu for my phone.css and tablet.css?

I finished learning how to set up my media queries and during the process I changed the properties of my spry menu for my phone.css. I now realize that all my menu bars are the size that I did for my phone.css.
How can I get my phone.css and tablet.css to recognize different spry menu bars? I was thinking to place certain spry menu css information inside of the appropriate phone.css or tablet.css (in my case) then within my #navigation ID.
Does anyone see what trap I have set for myself?
This has come about when I started to make a current site viewable in a tablet and phone device. As I change the spry menu bar it changes all of my navigation.

  • Lenovo Yoga 8 Tablet stuck on boot screen

Hello!I have a Lenovo Yoga 8 Tablet and today I can't turn it on. It sticks on boot screen. I tried to factory reset but nothing changed. Any help?

Think I got it sussed ... now if I can only remember how I did it !!Several posts on this forum had the problem with it stuck on the Lenovo splash screen and Fumangord1 on here mentioned  "If you hold the volume buttons in and hold the power switch it should give you the boot options. Select the recovery mode with the up volume button then press the down volume to ok it. Mine comes upo with the android icon and NO COMMAND." Well, I tried this and got the same BUT went a bit further with it, just by pressing buttons in a random fashion ...When the Android robot icon comes up with NO COMMAND, I think I then pressed the ON button and another Boot drop down menu popped up.I think I tried this next bit twice, but can't remember which one worked, but just have a play with the new options to see which one works for you !?First I think I selected the top one which is something like REBOOT and I then the second time I tried the bottom option which is something like WIPE CACHE and hey presto .. . it now works with every app and setting intact !I'm only going by what I remember doing - it might not be quite right, but at least there does seem a way round the issue ! God know's why Lenovo themselves don't reply to these posts and tell us how to fix their bloomin' machines !!?? Good luck everyone !
