Yoga 8 and 10 Tablets - KitKat 4.4.2 - Charging Time

After upgrading to KitKat 4.4.2, some customers report their Yoga 8 or 10 tablets (B6000-F/H or B8000-F/H) may take longer to charge while OFF, than it does while ON. Some users report double the time to charge when device is on.
10/15 EDIT: Adding in the LED light not turning off when tablet is fully charged as it may be related. Also adding in hot battery physically warm to touch.
These reports originated from this thread: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Android-based-Tablets/KitKat-roll-out-for-Yoga-Tablets-starting-Jun...
I was personally unable to reproduce these reports so I am looking for some information. Could I get some feedback from 3+ people? I am looking for the following:
Yoga 8 or 10 tablet
30 minutes on charged X%
30 minutes off charged Y%

  • Yoga 8 and 10 Tablets - KitKat 4.4.2 - Auto-Rotation

After upgrading to KitKat 4.4.2, some customers report auto-rotation does not always occur while changing modes on their Yoga 10 tablet (B8000-F/H). Reports include the Lenovo Launcher home page, Facebook, and SolMail. Hard resets do not resolve the issue.
Please note that Lenovo has escalated internally on this issue. I was able to reproduce these reports on a KitKat 4.4.2 V24 build. I noticed slow auto-rotate and I quickly developed a habit of automatically "shaking" the device one time when changing the mode to force the auto-rotation.

I can say that the wifi had not yet been fixed.   My tablet was created after the dates listed for you reported updates.   Mine was delivered in the first week of April 2015, and still had hasn't ups after sleep and wifi problems where it randomly drops the connection.   Can't tell when the connection has been dropped since the tablet still shows that it's connected.
Please see the link below for some of us that have come together with the same problems.   We all can't have crappy Internet (especially sebum we have other devices connected that are solid) .   You've responded to one person in the link,  the originator,  but it would be nice to see some response to the remainder of the thread.  Everyone is getting to where they want to return their tablets and I'm sure you don't want to lose the money and reputation.

KitKat OTA V28 was released on January 26th. It should resolve this issue.
If you are not currently running this update, you can download it by going to Setting - About tablet - System upgrade. Your device will then check to see what updates are available. These updates for the Yoga Tablet 8 and 10 (B6000 and B8000) begin with "A442_001_028"
Please note that if you have several updates to install, the device may only allow you to install two per day and the installation process may take several days to complete.

  • Yoga 10 tablet HD+ won't start or charge

In some cases, an IdeaPad Yoga 10 HD+ (B8080) system may not start properly, or might not charge properly. If you have experienced these symptoms, please follow this procedure to resolve the problem.
Press and hold the Power button for 64 seconds.  (This will perform a soft system reset )
Update system to vision B8080_S102206_140922_ROW_3GData, B8080_S102207_140918_ROW_WiFi or above by OTA (Over-the-Air Technology).
For how to update system, please click here.
Verify charging function to ensure unit is working normally
This is not the same as the factory reset option, and should not affect data.
If the issue remains after upgrading to this release or a newer one, please contact Lenovo Service for support.

I have the same problem with my B8000 Yoga 10' tablet in that after charging it overnight with the supplied charger, it now boots only as far as the Lenovo screen. If you hold the power button in for several seconds it will turn off and when plugged into the charger it shows only an empty battery. I have tried various USB chargers with the same outcome.I also went into the system settings by holding the power and volume buttons simultaneously for a few seconds and found no options under system repair, only the symbol of an android lying on its back, so that's not a lot of use. This unit is still under warranty. Are there any other suggestions for a cure to this problem before I'm forced to send it back.

  • Information: Update BIOS and Battery Firmware to ensure full charge capacity

Is your system’s BIOS and battery firmware updated to the latest level?
If not, you may not be getting the maximum capacity and run time from your battery!
Lenovo’s engineering team released updated BIOS and battery firmware in July that is applicable to customers who have ThinkPad models:
    X100e, L410/L510, L412/L512, SL410/SL510, T410/T410i, T510,T510i, W510 or ThinkPad Edge, 13, 14, or 15 inch units.
Customers who use Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox would have received a notification and opportunity to apply this update, and Lenovo’s ThinkVantage System Update tool would also identify and apply these updates.
If you aren’t using either of these tools, and have one of the systems above, please follow this link to our support site.  You can learn more there, and download and install the updates specific to your system.
Probably also worth mentioning, is an earlier tip applicable to X200t and X201t tablet users who have 8 cell extended batteries.  This technical tip and related BIOS updates ensure these batteries properly charge to their full capacities, and resolves a particular symptom where the battery would stop charging at less than 50%.
Source Lenovo Blogs: Update BIOS and Battery Firmware to ensure full charge capacity
    Recommendation before updating bios:
    - detach all devices from you system
    - undock your system, if docked
    - start from a cold boot. (shutting down the system completely, wait 15 min, start up again)
    - if possible, upgrade with a cd-rom drive
    Edit: Recommendation added.

  • WHAT IS YOUR IDEAL CELL PHONE AND TABLET/ULTRABOOK/LAPTOP COMBO?

I’d like to see what everyone here thinks is the best CELL PHONE and TABLET/ULTRABOOK/LAPTOP combination to own this year now that the CES show is coming to a close.  So post up what you think is the ideal combination from what has been announced.  Maybe, just maybe, Best Buy will listen and insure they carry the products we want.
    My vote goes to:
PHONE = Samsung Galaxy Note LTE (unlocked - carrier independent)
TABLET/ULTRABOOK/LAPTOP = Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13 with Windows 8 and its’ IPS touch screen
(Posted this in the Cell Phone AND Tablet forums)

    Blackberry 9810
efficient keyboard for quick access to functions.  How many other phones have 26 quick keys to dial a number?
convenient one handed operation on the bus because it has a trackpad
great battery life with the slower processor
user replaceable battery.  You can change a battery for the cost of a good dinner.  Other phones have sealed batteries that force you to get a hair dry to rip the battery out.  Basically they force you to get a new phone....SCAM
durability..... seen too many cracked Apple screens.  Takes a lot of punishment without needing a THICK "bumper"
brightness.... notice how dim iPhone screens are on bus compared to other phones?
data compression.... doesn't  rack up my data plan.  Doesn't have Siri.  Blackberry uses 1/3 or 1/6 the data compared to other phones.  Very important, especially when travelling
BBM saves me money when texting with other international BBM users.
the 9810 sliding mechanism means the phone is compact when not used, but grows in size when needed
the 9810 keyboard does not shrink my viewing area when I'm typing
    Blackberry Playbook
plays flash websites.... i got tired of Apple forcing websites to create an App to work (scam)
fits in my purse and pocket
dual speakers without a dock..... it's amazing the audio quality
    stereo microphones
smart bezel where the frame is an added touchpad functionality
With the upcoming OS update next month, Blackberries can take remote control of the Playbook tablet.... HOT as the phone keyboard can be used as Playbook tablet keyboard and phone screen become a mouse!

  • Why isn't my I pad charging I have tried the original cord and multiple ones it won't charge why?

Just wondering if anyone knows why

Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Lenovo Yoga 8 Tablet stuck on boot screen

Hello!I have a Lenovo Yoga 8 Tablet and today I can't turn it on. It sticks on boot screen. I tried to factory reset but nothing changed. Any help?

Think I got it sussed ... now if I can only remember how I did it !!Several posts on this forum had the problem with it stuck on the Lenovo splash screen and Fumangord1 on here mentioned  "If you hold the volume buttons in and hold the power switch it should give you the boot options. Select the recovery mode with the up volume button then press the down volume to ok it. Mine comes upo with the android icon and NO COMMAND." Well, I tried this and got the same BUT went a bit further with it, just by pressing buttons in a random fashion ...When the Android robot icon comes up with NO COMMAND, I think I then pressed the ON button and another Boot drop down menu popped up.I think I tried this next bit twice, but can't remember which one worked, but just have a play with the new options to see which one works for you !?First I think I selected the top one which is something like REBOOT and I then the second time I tried the bottom option which is something like WIPE CACHE and hey presto .. . it now works with every app and setting intact !I'm only going by what I remember doing - it might not be quite right, but at least there does seem a way round the issue ! God know's why Lenovo themselves don't reply to these posts and tell us how to fix their bloomin' machines !!?? Good luck everyone !

  • 64 bit Windows on Yoga 2 tablet

Well this doesn't sound good. My Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 13-inch model has 4GB of RAM, but due to the 32-bit OS I'm able to access ~2.5GB of it. Hopefully with Windows 10 Lenovo will send out updates for a 64-bit UEFI BIOS and then able to go with a 64-bit Windows 10 OS.

I've just bought a Yoga 2 tablet with Windows 8.1.It has 32 bit Windows installed. I have some questions; 1. Would 64 bit Windows work? My tech skills are a bit rusty but if I found the Windows registration/product key for my install, could I do a fresh 64 Win 8.1 install, using that product key? 2. Does anyone know why they decided to install 32 bit as default? Maybe there's a problem with 64 bit? I know the CPU is 64 bit, so I'm a bit confused why they chose 32 bit. 3. Does anyone have an opinion on the Windows 10 upgrade? Do you think it will offer the choice to upgrade to 64 bit Windows 10? Thanks guys.

I'm a developer and I bought an Yoga 10 Tablet for software developing purposes. Where can I find a compatible ADB driver?
    All the best,
    Lucian

You may need to boot Windows with Driver Signing Enforcement disabled to get the drivers installed.
    Try this:

If that doesn't work, try the drivers from this thread, it's the same chipset:

  • FIX: IPad turns on and off in a loop during charging, boots to home screen and reboots

Ok, after having my ipad 2 3rd Generation for about a year, its bombed out on me,playing on it until battery drained. Didn’t think anything of it, plugged into charge thinking it would be charged by the morning. This didn’t happen.
It was stuck on the apple sign, booted to home screen and switched off again due to low battery. Continued on this loop for the whole day……
I searched the internet and it seemed all doom and gloom that I would need to by another one. Then I stumbled upon a forum where the advice so far has worked for me.
The reason why it gets stuck in a loop is because the IPad was not shut down manually, so therefore keeps trying to boot up soon as it has some battery power. Problem is, its gone beyond a point and now and there isn’t enough battery life to boot to main or home screen after apple logo.
The remedy is quiet simple, follow these steps to get the ipad to home screen to power it down so it has sufficient time to charge up and boot normally and get off the endless loop.
Plug into wall socket to get it charging.
Wait until the apple logo appears and wants to boot up.
QUICKLY hold down home button and reset/ sleep button at the same time until it reboots.
Release buttons now. should now power down and reboot
Repeat step 3 at least 30 to 40 times which is about 10 minutes in duration everytime you see the logo appear on the screen.
Now Let IPad boot up fully, should see home screen with about 2% battery life
QUICKLY hit the rest/ sleep button down for about 2 to 5 seconds.
Swipe the screen to when slider appears to switch off the ipad.
This will now power down the IPad which now will not reboot by itself so it can now charge without any interruption’s.
Allow battery to charge for a least an hour or two without trying to put it on.
    Switch the IPad on
You should now have about 10 to 20% battery Life
Power it down again by holding the reset/ Sleep button down again and swipe the screen to power down, let it charge fully to 100% now which will take few hours
    Enjoy your IPad again
Lesson learnt. When your battery power is low, dont wait for it drain completely, rather power the pad down manually and let it charge when there is only about 2 to 4% battery life left.
Hope this guide helps people with the same problem as I had. Took me about 2 days of research and searching until I found a solution that worked. Hopefully this will assist anyone going through the same pain, and possibly not have to buy another one which seems to be the case when people take the pad to an istore with the same issue.
    Cheers,

I tried to restore using recovery mode it give error 4013, also tried the same with iMac with my friend again error.
Let me give little more details:
    1. After iOS 8.2 upgrade, 2-3 days often 3-4 times a day it used to restart again and again then will get Home screen.
    2. Also at times it happened, it boots again and again left the device as it is then it comes to Home screen.
    3. Lastly it did the same behavior but it did not boot up, but keep booting again and again apple logo is shown then restart
    4. Tried to get into recovery mode, windows PC error 4013, now in the recovery mode.
My Battery was in good condition, when it happened it was ~80% now may be very less did not charge until now.
I read somewhere in the forum keep re-starting manually again and again, someone said since it did not shutdown properly there is a problem, please help.
The device is 1.2 yrs old ONLY.
    Best regards
    Prabu
