You should be able to send email from Safari, however I do wonder why you wish to do this and whether there is something inherently wrong with using your mail app and your iCloud address.

System will not boot after trying to upgrade to yosamite

My wife tried to update her OS to yosamite on her MBP 2011. Now it wont boot at all. All she gets is the folder question mark screen. It won't boot in safe mode and won't do a recovery from internet. Please help !

Maybe try to use Yosemite (with an e). I don't think that there is an OS Yosamite that works on a mac. Probably you got the wrong OS.

Wacom/Yosamite/CS6 Has Conflict

My problems might be complicated. After I updated to Yosamite. (10.10.2) wacom tablet (intuos 3 PTZ) started to become unresponsive, but only in CS5. I'd tap outside of the PS environment and then tap inside the environment to regain control. At this point the zoom bar takes it upon itself to zoom and unzoom in quick succession.
I updated the wacom driver to 6.3.11-w3. I found I lost my interface for wacom tablet and the tablet was still unpresponsive. I called wacom and they instructed me to uninstall the new driver and perform a fix permissions task. Then install old driver 6.3.10w-2. I regained wacom interface, but tablet is still unresponsive.
I updated to CS6 thinking that might be it. It wasn't. Now my brushes can change all on their own. The colour sampler will grab a sample in mid brush stroke and change the colour in my pallet. The zoom will sometimes work, but after working in PS for a few brush strokes it feels my system resources were being taxed. But only in PS! It feels like PS's temp files build up and don't dump.
I read all the forums on optimizing my PS for my work habits. Since I save a lot (as PS tends to hang or lock up eventually) I work in big, short stacks of layers. I reduced history to 10 from 20. All this used to work before! I can hit the "purge" command ocassionally and that helps a bit. Eventually PS hangs and I have to do a force quit. Tablet is still acting weird.
I then installed 8gb of ram giving me now 12gb as I thought CS6 might be a little heavy. No avail.
I have called Adobe and they say it's Wacom. Wacom says it's Apple. Apple says it's Adobe. It's been 3 weeks now. I have tried every trick that worked for others, but nothing works.
Can anybody shed some light on this so I can get back to work?

Yes, i deleted the file and emptied my recycling bin, but it turns out this is very easy to recreate for me, so i have another file created the same way, and it has killed Photoshop CS6 64bit, Photoshop CS4 Extended 64bit, and Photoshop 7.0.1. Below is the image file in a zip file uploaded to zshare.

The image was created from Pixologic's ZBrush 4R2, by using it's multi-map exporter, and telling it to export an Ambient Occlusion map (which doesn't work properly and i was getting a screen shot to show their forum what result i got). The image is set to 16bit, TIFF, Greyscale, and ever since opening it in CS6 no other version of Photoshop i have installed works anymore until i restart my syste

Unable to view attached file after upgrade to yosamite

Ever since I upgraded my 2009 iMAC to Yosamite, most of the attached files in my mail box turned to characters. Images are not viewable.

Here is one of the attached files that changed to character. While only a few of the attached image files changed to characters, other attached files in the same email are fine. Usually, I would say roughly about 20% of the attached file changed to characters.

Go to the "Purchased" section of your App Store and you'll see it there for download.

Ghost files on yosamite (usb)

hello all,
So When I fill up my flash drive with home made videos, pictures or any time of file when I go to load the files on another device such as my tv, or a windows machine I get a flash drive full of really annoying ghost files I have to sit there and deleting, I also see lots of files and folders with names that start with "." such as .trash and duplicate files of the actual files that do nothing but get in the way.
Is there any way to stop my mac from creating these files and folders? such as code or some file or command I can type into terminal? I did try a few apps but I rather not have them due to my 512gb ssd space being limited so I would rather not use up the space, even though the apps are a few MB I would rather be able to do it with out an app.
I did a google search but can only find app solutions,

I do delete them every time, its just hassle having to do so every time as some times there are a lot of files and folders that are created, plus some times I have to plug the drive into my windows machine simply to delete the files as they show up when I go to use the usb on my tv and not my windows machine. which is why I was hoping for there to be a way for osx to stop creating them on my machine.

Unable to print after updating to yosamite

Like so many I have the same issue after updating to Yosemite. I have tried deleting the printer, updating drivers, resetting the printers, restarting the Macbook Air but all to no avail. Printer is an HP Laserjet 3055 and has worked fine up until now. Come on Apple, this is really frustrating!

What is the Operating System of the computer?
Have you tested hardware functionality (made copies)?
Have you tried printing from different programs?
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software?
What Firewalls and Anti-virus software are installed?
Have you tried disabling or uninstalling them?

How do I transfer logic pro from my existing mac to my new macbook pro with no cd drive?

I have logic already installed on my mac desktop. I have just bought a macbook pro and I am trying to install my legitimate copy of logic onto my new mac, unfortunately Apple in their wisdom have removed the cd drive so the simplest option i.e. use the install disc is no longer an option..
I have tried using 'remote disc' but my desktop is not transferring the information this way, apparently it is because I have not upgraded to yosamite. I don't want to upgrade to yosamite as it has compatibility issues with another music software I use (maschine). Basically if I upgrade to yosamite I won't be able to use maschine.
If anyone out there can offer me a solution to my problem I will be very grateful. thanks

Assuming you are talking about the boxed set of Logic Studio (Logic Pro 9) on DVDs the only solutions are to either borrow or purchase an external CD/DVD drive and use that with your new MBP.
Amazon sells a very reasonably priced 'Amazon Basics' external CD/DVD drive suitable for the process...

Do NOT try and copy Logic across from your Mac to your MBP using something like Time Machine or Migration Assistant... 99% of the time, doing so results in all kind of weird issues later on.
Just install Logic pro 9 plus all it's content from scratch using the DVDs provided with Logic Studio Boxed set.....

Iphoto cropping images off page when printing

Hi,
When I select 2 images in iPhoto vertically on one page in portrait, , they show in iPhoto correctly with a border around edges. However, when I hit print, they become landscape, and the top of top image is cropped off page with the bottom of the bottom photo cropped off page too.
I have reviewed all settings with no success.
In the Apple shop they suggested asking on here because they didn't know what the problem was either.
All help gratefully accepted.
It was doing this using OSX and still is with Yosamite.

Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder:
User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks and Yosemite, go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.

I had, and still suffer the exact same problem.
I've got a late 2009 iMac that came pre loaded with Snow Leopard. which supports the printer. The only way to ensure you get colour printing on a 1220C in Yosamite is to wipe the iMac, install Snow Leopard as the base OS, install the printer then go through the life draining steps of upgrading to Yosamite via Lion, Mountain Lion & Mavericks. A dogs breafast I grant you!
I've tried to locate the printer driver on my time machine, or like you a new or alternate one so I can bypass the whole gradual install process and dump the driver where it needs to live but have yet to find it.
If someone else has a better work around please let me know as I'm almost to the point of throwing out a perfectly good printer if I ever have to rebuild my iMac again.

Keyword filtering with 'all' and 'any' not working

Hi folks,
At the moment I'm testdriving Aperture 1.5.3, and it seems that when filtering on multiple keywords the logical connection 'any' or 'all' doesn't work.
For instance, the filtersetting is 'Match all of the following:'
[checked] Yosamite Sam
[checked] Bugs Bunny
[unchecked] Daffy Duck
This would mean I should see all pictures tagged with both the keywords 'Yosamite Sam' AND 'Bugs Bunny'. In stead of that, the result of the filter is all pictures tagged with 'Yosamite Sam' OR 'Bugs Bunny' OR both.
Is this a known issue and is already a fix for this?

I had the same problem when I started using Aperture. The 'Match all/any of the following' is referred to the different searching options (by date, by keyword, by rating...)
If you need to search for images with all or any of the keywords ticked use the 'contain one or more of the following' or 'contain all of the following' beside the keyword title on the searching window.

Issues no acces to my files and I cannot reset keychain. I look at my backup and all the files are locked.

i downloaded yosamite and once the computer reboot, I could open it with my old login and password, but all my data is gone. if I try to take it from time machine is blocked with a symbol red.
I had a request to provide my password to keychain. I did and it kept asking. But when I try to reset or verify it says I'm not the right user.
Now I'm a bit lost. Can anybody share some guidance? Thanks.

Thank for the advice and link, Meg, but your are overly paranoid RE CleanMyMac 2. For fear of hijacking this tread (FCP + Yosamite) I will be very brief. (And, no, I do not work for MacPaw and am generally not a fan of their software.)
I've been a Mac-man since '84, and still have my 512k Mac SE (Yes, I still have it working). Now I am a Certified Computer Forensic Examiner and know very very well what goes on under the hood of OS X, am very familiar with the directory corruption that seems so persistent in the HFS+ file system, the relatively unstable permissions and all the crap that doesn't get cleaned out or managed "automatically" or at all by OS X. I don't need Arabic, French, Spanish, Danish or any other of the multitude of language iterations of OS X and/or other Apple software that unnecessarily sapping gigabytes of space on my machine. If I drag an App to the Trash there can be a multitude of extensions, drivers, settings/plists files and other junk that does NOT get removed with it... and if the average user discovers how to get into their relatively hidden Users/(Profile)/Library and try to remove stuff manually they are very likely to screw up their OS or break their other software. I have tested CleanMyMac 2 in a lab environment and, while the original was kind of screwy and less effective, CleanMyMac 2, does an excellent job of getting rid of totally unnecessary, disk-bloating CRAP from your drive and does it in a manner that is way more efficient and reliable than trying to do it manually. I've never had a negative experience with CMM2 and have found it to be no more difficult to remove manually than any of a bunch of other software.
While it does nothing to correct permissions errors or fix directory issues (sorry OS X Disk Utility ***** at that), I've found it to do an excellent job at locating and cleaning out all the stuff that OS X simply does not do on its own and does result in a more efficient, slightly faster-running machine.
Again, Meg, I appreciate your trying to help me out and provide caution regarding "cleaning" software. I, myself remain generally dubious about other products from MacPaw (particularly Gemini). It is certainly your right to avoid all of it and even Troll my feedback regarding CMM2. But lab results don't lie and my experience has consistently shown CleanMyMac 2 to be useful and non-destructive to my system and/or other software.
...... And it was an effective utility I used to get my FCP 7 to work again.
