Yosemite 10.10.1: Missing Chinese and Japanese Keyboard settings

After updating my new Mac Mini with the latest Yosemite update 10.10.1, suddenly the Japanese and Chinese keyboard settings have disappeared and I can't find them in settings anymore. I'm using the Apple bluetooth keyboard and the whole system is only 3 months old. Anyone else having the same problem? Any suggestions on how to get the back? Thanks!

I cannot get Character Viewer to display any script other than Latin. That is to say, unless you have some text already in your document in the selected script, you cannot browse (as you could before Yosemite) to find a give character.
Sorry, I don't understand what you are referring to by "browsing to find a given character."  Could  you explain  what you are wanting to do in more detail?  Character Viewer displays all scripts for me.
Have you clicked on the gear wheel and selected Customize to add the categories you want to the column on the left?

  • How to get Chinese and Japanese input in X11?

    I have tried a few things like building UIM, Canna, and Anthy, but nothing seems to work. For one thing, I seem able to compile and install the Canna library, but when I run ./configure for UIM, it can't find Canna.
    Can somebody walk me through getting Chinese and Japanese input in X11?

    It would probably be good to ask this in the Unix forum:

  • Converting Flash to Chinese and Japanese

    I'm being asked by a client if their Flash-based elements
    containing English text can be converted to Chinese and Japanese
    for alternate versions of their site. Is this possible? If so, how
    do I go about doing it? Is it a simple copy and paste, or do I have
    to configure Flash or my system in some way?
    P.S. - I'm using a MacbookPro with Intel Core 2 Duo processor
    and Flash CS3.
    Thanks in advance.

    You probably just downloaded the Flash browser plugin -it does not show up in your Applications folder.
    [MPEG Streamclip|http://www.squared5.com] can open and convert Flash to .mov.
    If you export a H264 of your finished project from FCP, changing the file extension to .fla apparently works, although I have never tried it.
    The perfect solution is to buy a copy of Flash from Adobe. But their are plenty of other solutions such as [this one|http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/36217] that are easier on your finances.

  • When I type ^6 on my Chinese Pinyin keyboard I get ⋯⋯(^.^)♪(´ε` )(^з^)-☆ How can I get this on my American and Japanese keyboards too??? (^з^)-☆

    Hi everyone,
    I am not learning Chinese now, so I really don't need the pinyin keyboard (Traditional), but I keep it around because I can easily get a list of emoji/emoticons just by typing '^6'.
    I use emoji often when I type in Japanese, but it is such a hassle having to switch to the Chinese keyboard...especially since I already have a few language keyboards that I *actually* need to use regularly. I took my Spanish keyboard off the list because I can do okay with an American keyboard, and would like to also remove the Chinese Pinyin keyboard, but I frequently use the ^_^ (^6) feature.
    On the iphone Japanese keyboard, emoticons are built in by clicking a '^_^' button, but I cannot find them for my life on my mac!
    Please help! I do not want to use the standard iphone emoji such as   ,  , and   . I would prefer to use the 'asian' emoji such as (^_^) and
    ☆〜(ゝ。∂)instead.
    Thank you!!
    PS: This is the only other thing I could find on the internet about this. I tried searching in English and Japanese.

    That is default behavior for OS X 10.7 and up, but it should only happen when you hold a key down for a while.  If it happens with a quick tap, the key may be damaged.

  • Encoding issue with Chinese and Japanese characters but not for Korean

    Hi All,
    I am dealing with the problem below and have tried a lot of options to correct this. Could anyone help me resolve the issue?
    Some japanese text is returned to my jsp from SAP, the text looks like ‚P‚T“ú’÷“–ŒŽ––Œ»‹à .
    When I manually set the encoding of my browser to Shift-JIS, the problem is resolved and the text is seen as 15日締当月末現金
    However, I set my response.setContentType as Shift-JIS, the browser automatically selects the encoding as Shift-JIS, but my characters get displayed as ??????
    I had a similar problem with Korean characters, and I used,
    decodedString = new String(strToBeDecoded.getBytes("iso-8859-1"),"EUC-KR");
    It worked and I did not have to use the setContentType method of servlet response. This code however does not work for either Japanese or Chinese characters.
    Please let me know, if there is anyway of getting the characters right on the screen.
    I am using Sun Java Application Server 8.1.
    Thanks,
    Priya

    Get rid of legacy character encodings and just use UTF-8 all the way.

  • Chinese and Japanese characters in database

    I have Customer table in which Name column can contain Chinese characters. I have given it's datatype as NVARCHAR. I am writing simple SELECT statement. But it is showing question marks instead of Chinese characters. What should I do to get correct data?
    In Below Image, you can see that after 2nd statement, @NAME variable value automatically gets those question marks which is not returning correct answer.

    Hello,
    You have to add the Unicode literal N in front of the string, like
    SET @NAME = N'here comes the text';

  • Palm Treo 680's Chinese and English datas + HotSync + Mac OS X?

    Hello!
    I am wondering if it is safe to get an Apple MacBook Pro for a client
    who uses a Palm Treo 680 with English and Chinese datas (with CJKOS --
    http://www.dyts.com/en/cjkos.html ). Currently, he uses his Windows
    2000 SP4 on his old Dell Optiplex PC and Hotsync (via USB) his datas.
    It has MS IME and TwinBridge to read and write Chinese characters.
    Is he going to have any problems if he were to buy a new MacBook Pro
    with the latest Mac OS X? I read that he will need a third party
    softwares (Missing Sync for Palm v6.0 --
    http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_palmos.php [not free] and Palm
    Encoding Setup -- http://lokiware.info/Palm-Encoding-Setup ). I was
    told that using Palm Desktop is messy and complex. Also, is it safe to
    mix both PC and Mac to share Palm datas? All these third parties and
    fancy setups seems complex for a guy who doesn't know computers well.
    Thank you in advance.

    I have no experience with using a handheld with chinese character sets, but mac osx will natively support a range of chinese and japanese character sets. The best place to go is contact apple and check the correct sets are supported.
    As for how messy etc palm desktop is, some people love it and others can't stand it. Personally I don't mind it but for people who have the same set of contacts they sync with isync and palm desktop I can see it getting very annoying even with missing sync (which I don't have). I'd recommend you find someone with a mac and actually have a go with it before you make any definite decisions you could regret.

  • Issues with their Chinese or Japanese characters while sending mail

    Hi All ,
    I am sending mail using FM SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1. I am facing problem with display of chinese and japanese character in mail attachment.
    For example , Data in ABAP table 延平路123弄1号10A is converted to ösï721_ 3S÷83L in excel sent via mail through abap.
    I am using ASCII conversion while filling internal table for attachment.  Since these are not ASCII character conversion is not helpful.
    Please help me for solving above problem.
    Thanks & Regards ,
    Jigar Thakkar.

    Hi Kang Ring,
    please convert the content of the attachement into the binary format and then add it as a mail attachment.
    LOOP AT i_data ASSIGNING <wa_data>.
    if s_output is INITIAL.
    CONCATENATE <wa_data> cl_abap_char_utilities=>cr_lf into s_output.
    else.
    CONCATENATE s_output <wa_data> INTO s_output SEPARATED BY cl_abap_char_utilities=>cr_lf.
    endif.
    ENDLOOP.
    CALL FUNCTION 'SCMS_STRING_TO_XSTRING'
    EXPORTING
    text = s_output
    IMPORTING
    buffer = x_output.
    CALL FUNCTION 'SCMS_XSTRING_TO_BINARY'
    EXPORTING
    buffer = x_output
    TABLES
    binary_tab = imail_att.
         OR
    please use ABAP-Object classes like CL_BCS , CL_document_BCS.....
    please findthe below sample code.
      cl_bcs_convert=>string_to_solix(
              EXPORTING
                iv_string   = s_output
                iv_codepage = '4103'          "suitable for MS Excel, leave empty
                iv_add_bom  = 'X'               "for other doc types
              IMPORTING
                et_solix  = s_output_binary  "(of type solix_tab)
                ev_size   = size ).
    attachment->add_attachment(                       "attachment of type ref to cl_document_bcs
              i_attachment_type    = 'xls'
              i_attachment_subject = l_subject
              i_attachment_size    = size
              i_att_content_hex    = s_output_binary ).
    you need to write the code for adding the receipents, subject and adding this "attachment " as an attachment to the mail.
    Hope this will helps to you....,
    thanks,
    Rahim.

  • Some applications are installed from internet in chinese or japanese

    such applications as Dropbox and teamveiwer. How to solve it?

    Where are you getting them from?  I suggest you go either directly to the author's site (for example for Dropbox it's https://www.dropbox.com/, or teamviewer from http://www.teamviewer.com/en/download/index.aspx) or a site for software that can be trusted like macupdate.com.
    Of course there's also the possibility you have some malware (trojan) redirecting you to those Chinese and Japanese sites.  Do you have Java turned off?  Do you have all the latest apple security updates?
